A majority respondents to a new survey say President Barack Obama is better suited to handle an alien invasion than GOP nominee-in-waiting Mitt Romney. Yes, someone actually polled this. “We wanted the pulse on people’s opinions,” said Brad Dancer of National Geographic, who conducted the survey for the new series “Chasing UFOs.” “We wanted to get a sense of how Americans view UFOs , what people believe and how mainstream pop culture may or may not play into their opinions.” For whatever reason, nearly 65 percent of respondents said Obama would be better suited to handle a theoretical alien invasion than Romney. Obama trumped Romney across the board, winning broad support from women (68 percent), men (61 percent) and those aged 18-64 (68 percent). During a May visit to the White House by the actor Will Smith and his family, Obama was quizzed by Smith’s 13-year-old son, Jaden, about aliens. “OK, I can neither confirm or deny the existence of extraterrestrials,” Obama said from the White House Situation Room, according to Will. “But I can tell you if there had been a top secret meeting, and if there would have been a discussion about it, it would have taken place in this room.” No idea how Obama would poll against some top movie presidents . News at a press preview of Hotel Transylvania – one of three movies Selena filmed this year – the 19-year old said she misses recording and hopes to get started on a new record soon. “I want to be able to write about things I’ve never talked about before and tell a story with this album because I’ve never actually had time to go in and do that. I’ve never worked on a song for more than two days,” Gomez said . So does this mean Selena will be opening up to the world about Justin Bieber ? Not exactly. “It’s not going to be necessarily, ‘Here’s my tell-all,'” she says. “It’s going to be more of something that people could say, ‘It could be that or it could be this or it could that.’ At the end of the day I only make my music because I want it be really fun and if I could have people dance to it, relate to it, have a good time, that’s all I want.” Mentioning that she’s inspired these days by Jason Mraz and Parachute, Selena added that she also plans to reunite with Rock Mafia and Toby Gad. She then plans to go on tour in promotion of the CD.

Running down the connections between Turley and Obama (e.g. they were just guests at a state dinner and Turley was nominated to President Obama’s Export Council in 2010) and citing the President’s support of same-sex marriage , Norris believes Turley is catering to a “pro-gay” Obama agenda. The British actor was instrumental in providing Peter Parker with a skateboard and some much-needed wit in the ‘Amazing’ reboot. Andrew Garfield, the British actor filling out Peter Parker’s shoes in director Marc Webb’s “Amazing Spider-Man,” brought many ideas to the superhero reboot’s table, including his character’s proficiency with a skateboard. Speaking with MTV News, Garfield said that “a lot changed” over the course of shooting “Spider-Man,” including his very own idea to have Spidey wield a board at numerous points throughout the movie. “It was my idea that this iteration of Peter would skateboard, maybe because I skateboarded when I was a kid, and it’s something personal to me,” the actor said at the “Amazing Spider-Man” press junket. “It linked in so nicely with being able to activate the powers in a new way.” Garfield teamed up with director Spike Jonze’s Girl and Chocolate Skateboards and persuaded the powers that be to include scenes of Peter messing around with skateboards, adding some levity to an otherwise “heavy” script. “What’s always been important about Spider-Man to me is the lightness, the humor and the enjoyment of a teenage kid getting these powers. In reality, what would happen?” he said. “We pitched the idea to [the Spider-Man producers] and they shot it. I thought that was awesome.” Another scene that changed due to Garfield’s input: the infamous carjacking sequence that sees Peter in full Spidey regalia for the first time, webbing up and taunting a criminal with lots of laughs and very little restraint. “That was important to me, in terms of the humor, the wit, finding the power of anonymity,” he said. “That was a fun night, because it was all improvised and free. There was nothing scripted about that. But she isn’t ready to be a bride just yet, despite a mysterious Tweet posted over the weekend. “Super lazy Sunday!” the star wrote yesterday, adding: “Can’t wait for next week! It’ll be filled with happiness.” Naturally, such enthusiasm led many to believe that Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were planning to tie the knot in just a few days, but the actor’s rep has come out and shot down that notion. Liam is filming a movie in New York and will only be “back in LA for a night next week to receive an award from Australians in Film on the 27th,” the Hemsworth insider told Gossip Cop. Still, she may not be walking down any aisles too soon, but Miley sounds on top of the world these days. She also Tweeted yesterday: “Life is to short, stop compromising your happiness.
