But in Gil Cates, Jr.’s Lucky , in limited release this week, the 33-year-old actor and neophyte documentarian throws that image for a loop as Ben, a meek Midwesterner who wins a $36 million lottery jackpot, marries his dream girl ( Ari Graynor )… and just so happens to be a serial killer.

Back in April it was revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger was in talks to take the lead role in the The Last Stand , a Western about a broken down sheriff who must stand-up to a drug cartel and save his town. That project got pushed aside by Cry Macho , the fifth Terminator film , and some screaming infidelities , but now Deadline reports it’s back on — with a start-date scheduled for September. It’s the unofficial 84th birthday of our favorite chain convenience store, 7-Eleven , meaning two things: First, you’re entitled to a free Slurpee (at all participating locations) and second, it’s as good a time as any to look back at some of the best scenes set in 7-Eleven-like establishments in movie history. Who knew that one-stop-shop marts were appropriate settings for pregnancy scares, super-human cyborgs, Michael Bay-directed hold-ups and most frightening of all, a skinny, ’90s era Alec Baldwin in a track suit?

Last month, Fox News host Glenn Beck retired the cable television iteration of his talk show and left the airwaves, promising his fans a two-hour online show on GBTV — his subscription-based Internet network — and other vague, “exciting” projects that he could not yet discuss. Today, the polarizing figure (and surprising Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark fan ) revealed that those mysterious projects involve film, TV and radio studios that he is constructing in Dallas, Texas. Cue the sinister organ music or Kool & the Gang depending on your mood!

Judging from the Guy Ritchie-directed first film, it might not have much in common with Arthur Conan Doyle either, but thanks to the charms of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, that won’t matter too much. On the upside, however, is this hilarious juxtaposition: “On day one, Governor Palin made it absolutely clear that this was a different governor,” says someone in voiceover just as a dollar bill is being cut up with scissors.
