Magnolia Pictures will enter “Tangerine” stars Kitana Kiki Rodriguez and Mya Taylor into the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress races for the 2016 Oscar season.
There are lots of ways to make enemies in Hollywood and earn a reputation as a typical celebrity D-bag, but perhaps none of them are more baffling than chronic penny-pinching. After all, the vast majority of stars are fabulously rich, and now more than ever, most of them have done very little in the way of actual work to earn their fortunes. Add to that the fact that today's waiter might be tomorrow's A-list director, and celebrity rudeness makes even less sense. There have always been rumors about certain big shots mistreating “the help” (We're looking at you, Kendall Jenner .) but the new issue of Star magazine goes straight to the source to find out which stars have earned their bad reputations by taking testimony from longtime waiters, bus boys and bartenders at Hollywood's favorite hot spots. The tabloid has published a list of the biggest cheapskates, the worst tippers and the rudest customers in Tinsel Town, and we're happy to bring you some of the highlights. If you're planning to go out this weekend, please, please don't be like any of these people: 1. Gwyneth Paltrow Not surprisingly, Gwyneth cements her snobby reputation every time a waiter brings her the check. Sources say the actress blames her paltry tips on the fact that she’s “bad at math.” 2. Jennifer Aniston Apparently, Jen regularly visits a psychic named Fay. She pays Fay’s $150 fee, and seems happy with the services provided, but never leaves a tip. “Jennifer clearly thinks that Fay does a good job, because she keeps coming back for more – but it’s strange that she won’t leave a thank-you.” We’d say that’s more than MEDIUM rude. Sorry. 3. Mick Jagger Waiters and waitresses will get no satisfaction from the Rolling Stones frontman. One source tells a story about a time when Mick left a $10 tip on a $90 bill at a DC pizza joint. In fairness to Mick, tipping is a purely American custom. 4. Angelina Jolie Angie earned a spot on the list, but we’re totally fine with her alleged cheapness. A source says Jolie “makes it clear to her kids that they don’t need the nicest clothes. She wants them to realize that they are blessed compared to all the children suffering in the world.” And they always look perfectly happy and stylish to us! 5. Jessica Alba Despite being the CEO of a billion dollar company, Jessica reportedly takes frugality to a new level, refusing to give out free samples of her company’s products to even her closest friends. “She was way more generous when she had less money,” says a source. “Now that she’s loaded, she’s holding on to every cent like it’s her last. 6. Usher The R&B icon apparently thinks it’s acceptable to leave an autograph in lieu of a tip. Sounds like someone needs to show Usher the exit! View Slideshow
Viola Davis Responds To Soap Star’s Criticism Of Her Emmy Speech Last week, a random actress from “General Hospital” got a little salty about Viola Davis’ Emmy speech focusing on opportunity for Black actresses and decided to fire off a series of equally salty, semi-racist tweets dismissing her passion and emotion over her accomplishment. Ever the class act, Viola just essentially “read” old Nancy without even bothering to address the actress or her privileged-azz tweets directly. As Viola shared via the New York Times : “If there has been any backlash, it’s that all people want to feel included in a speech. I know there has been some backlash with an actress who didn’t feel she was included.” When asked if she was speaking specifically about Soap Opera Actress Nancy Grahn, Viola simply responded: “Yes, I don’t know that I want to say more about that.” Welp — too damn bad for Nancy. She’s got to realize that she didn’t have any reason to be included in Viola’s or any other Black actresses’ triumphant moment from that night. However, Viola also pointed out that the response to her speech has been overwhelmingly positive, and she’s glad she was able to inspire others with her words: I feel like I’ve gotten a really huge response that kind of surpassed the award. Just people admiring my speech makes me feel really good. I remember Meryl Streep told me once, “You know, Viola, these young girls are always listening to us — every word we say is hitting them in a way that you can’t even imagine.” And that’s what I’ve found to be very true. After less than two years of marriage, Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting announced today that they’re calling it quits. “Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage,” said Cuoco’s reps in a statement People magazine. “They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter.” Divorce rumors about Cuoco and Sweeting have been circulating for months, but the actress repeatedly denied that she and Sweeting were having any problems. Earlier this week, Cuoco assured fans that Sweeting, was perfectly alright with watching her marry her ex-boyfriend Johnny Galecki on the season premiere The Big Bang Theory. The decision must to split must have been made recently, as Kaley was posting photos of Ryan on her Instagram page as recently as two weeks ago. Cuoco and Sweeting got married on New Year’s Eve 2013 after just three months of dating. As an unemployed former pro tennis player Sweeting instantly became the butt of male gold digger jokes. Sweeting was always quick to rush to his defense: “I have never been more proud of anyone on this planet,” she wrote on her Instagram page in April. “his guy is fighting back from a whirlwind of injuries and not to mention constant ‘conversation’ regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make.” Reps for the couple claim that the split was amicable.
Back in April, Kylie Jenner was accused of wearing blackface in a series of strange Instagram photos that seemed to show the actress sporting a much darker skin tone. Now, the 18-year-old is once again at the center of a race-based controversy, and once again, she’s claiming it’s all a big misunderstanding. It all started when Kylie helped friend Jordyn Wood celebrate her 18th birthday last night. Several attendees posted photos from Jordyn’s party, including a cake that reads, “Happy Birthday, N–ga.” As Kylie referenced getting Jordyn a cake on social media, many fans went on the offensive, assuming that Kylie ordered the desert with the racial slur. “What kind of friend wants to call you a racial slur?” wrote one Instagram user. “Especially one where people like her have a history of using the word to dehumanize people like you?” “I just hope this girl realizes Jenner is not her friend. This some other level type of disrespect smfh,” another one commented. As it turns out, Kylie got Jordyn a different cake (left)…Oh, and she also bought her a Mercedes Benz (right). No big deal. So it turns out, Kylie not only doesn’t use racial slurs (that we know of), she’s also freakin’ awesome at giving birthday gifts. Of course, she’s still coping with those rumors that Tyga gave her a leased Lamborghini for her birthday, so hopefully Kylie had the sense to buy Jordyn’s Benz outright. Unexpected couple alert! Rosie O’Donnell split from wife Michelle Rounds back in February, and in the months since, things have not been going so well for the outspoken media personality. Rosie’s return to The View was a short-lived disaster. Her 17-year-old daughter went missing last month. It later turned out she was in the company of a much older heroin dealer, and she’s since chosen to live with her biological mother . Candice Accola has a very special reason to be excited right about now. The countdown to The Vampire Diaries Season 7 opener, which airs on Thursday, October 8 at 8/7c? Not quite. The fact that the actress is expecting her first child!!!! The 28-year-old beauty revealed the major life news by sharing a photo of her baby bump on Instagram.
