Adele definitely got the best of Taylor Swift – and the entire music world – winning six out of a possible six honors at the 2012 Grammy Awards in L.A. Sunday night. Can she continue her unbeaten streak with a win in this style showdown? That remains to be seen, though the British songstress looked great on the red carpet. Adele has won praise for the fact that – like Swift – she succeeds on talent and sets a good example for fans by not parading around in no pants. So to speak. First of all, I want to show you guys the video of Adele accepting the award for Album of the Year. She definitely deserved this, but, as you can see in the video, none of the fame has gone to her head one bit. This is easily the most charming acceptance speech I have ever Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Evil Beet Discovery Date : 13/02/2012 11:32 Number of articles : 2
I just watched the Grammy’s so I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that they photoshopped 74 pounds off her…. See I get that Adele is a talent, I have ears…I hear it…but when she performs I wish I didn’t have eyes…I wish I was Stevie Wonder up in here…because as a hater of fat chicks…all I could wonder is how much soft serve ice cream she already ate out of her Grammy within the first hour of having it…. I’m judgemental and feel there is an importance in giving women a negative body image in order to lower their self esteem as well as encourage their fitness and starvation as to not be fat…all while getting me laid…. It’s simple logic….and here is Grammy star winner Adele’s simple cleavage….probably the highlight of her body….possibly the reason her boyfriend dumped her to inspire her award winning album….who cares…
Rapper also looks back on his own past Grammy wins and says he’s ‘coming right back at ’em soon.’ By Kelley L. Carter Nicki Minaj Photo: D. Dipasupil/FilmMagic Ludacris knows how good it feels to win a Grammy. The Atlanta-based rapper has three in his collection, and he’s hoping his eighth studio album, Ludaversal, brings him a few more. No release date has been set, but it’s expected sometime this year. Luda won his first Grammy for his collaboration with Usher for 2004’s contagious single “Yeah.” “Man, it was a great feeling. I’m happy to be working with Usher again on the Ludaversal album so we can come back and win yet another Grammy,” Luda told MTV News on Thursday. “My best Grammy experience was winning Best Rap Album for Release Therapy (which was released in 2006). I worked hard on that album specifically to win a Grammy, and I accomplished my goal. So no words can explain how great that felt. But we’re coming right back at ’em soon.” His pick for Sunday night is clear: He wants to see Nicki Minaj to win Best New Artist. He worked with the MC on 2010’s “My Chick Bad,” off his Battle of the Sexes album. “I’m looking forward to seeing Nicki Minaj. I love her. I’m glad I got a chance to work with her. I’m extremely proud of her,” he said. “She’s just scratching the surface of what she’s capable of. So Nicki: keep doing your thing, girl.” Should Nicki Minaj win Best New Artist? MTV News sought out experts (and the slightly uninformed) to get predictions for Sunday’s Grammy Awards. By James Montgomery Photo: Getty Images/ MTV News Ever since the nominees for the 54th Grammy Awards were announced late last year, we’ve asked everyone from Vegas-tested professionals to cubicle-dwelling amateurs to predict just who will take home the golden gramophones during Sunday’s big show. And basically, they keep telling us the same thing: Adele is just going to win everything. And they’re probably right. After all, her 21 album is an unstoppable juggernaut, selling more than 6 million copies in less than a year, spawning two massive singles and almost singlehandedly keeping the industry afloat during dour times. So, yeah, we feel pretty comfortable referring to her as “the favorite.” Still, it’s not as if Adele’s Grammy-night triumph is a sure thing (not entirely anyway): In three of the so-called “Big Four” categories — Album, Record and Song of the Year — she’ll face stiff challenges from the likes of Mumford & Sons, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Kanye West, to name just a few. In the other “Big Four” category (Best New Artist), she’s not nominated — mostly because she won it in 2009. So with music’s biggest night just around the corner, here’s a refresher on just who our expert oddsmakers — and resident awards-show expert (uh, me ) picked to win at the 54th Grammys: Record of the Year Not surprisingly, the U.K.-based oddsmakers at Ladbrokes like Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” here, installing it as the favorite at 2/1 odds. Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave” was next, at 9/4 odds, followed by Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” at 4/1. I decided to go out on a limb and predict Bon Iver’s “Holocene” would build on Arcade Fire’s unlikely Album of the Year win at last year’s Grammys and shock everyone by winning ROTY. Who’s right? Well, probably the pros, but we’ll just have to wait until Sunday to know for sure. Song of the Year Ladbrokes once again goes for Adele, giving “Rolling in the Deep” 1/1 odds to win. Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” is next at 2/1, followed by Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave” at 5/1. Me? I’m taking “Deep” too — mostly because it was the year’s biggest track, and one look back at previous SOTY winners (“Rehab,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” etc.) shows you which way this category tends to go. Album of the Year Ladbrokes has Adele’s 21 as the slight favorite here, giving the disc 11/8 odds. Close behind are Bruno Mars’ Doo Wops & Hooligans and the Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light, each of whom got 3/1 odds. I also picked 21 to win, but unlike the betting Brits, I didn’t think this one would even be close. Best New Artist Absent of Adele, BNA may very well be the night’s most-competitive category. Ladbrokes certainly seems to agree with that sentiment, as they’ve installed Nicki Minaj as the slight favorite (6/4 odds), but also kept the Band Perry (9/4), Bon Iver (4/1) and J. Cole (5/1) within striking distance. As for me, I took Minaj too, though I’m not sure how confident I feel about it now. I could certainly see the Band Perry winning instead, though my gut tells me that perhaps it’ll be Bon Iver who takes this one home — we’ll just have to wait until Sunday to see. Chaos! Profanity! Music sales posted a 3 percent sales increase last year, thanks in no small part to 21 . By James Montgomery Adele Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ FilmMagic Call it the Adele Effect: Music sales actually rose in 2011, the first time the industry has posted a gain in seven years. According to Nielsen SoundScan, overall sales were up a modest 3 percent last year, as consumers purchased some 458 million albums — digital downloads of albums rose 20 percent, to 103 million, while sales of compact discs sank nearly 6 percent, to 225 million — and downloaded more than 1.2 billion singles, a 9 percent increase from the previous year. It’s all a welcome change of pace for the music industry, which in recent years has been battered by double-digit declines in sales. And, while there are certainly mitigating factors that contributed to the sales gains — the RIAA’s ongoing antipiracy efforts, an increase of consumers with mobile devices, the rise of services like Spotify and Google Music — it certainly didn’t hurt that Adele released one of the biggest-selling albums in recent memory last year, not to mention a pair of much-downloaded singles. Her 21 album sold more than 5.8 million copies in 2011 — the most of any album since Usher’s Confessions in 2004 (which, incidentally, marks the last year the industry saw increases in total sales) — and her massive “Rolling in the Deep” has also sold some 5.8 million copies. She sold nearly 900,000 copies of her debut album, 19, last year, too. Big sellers like Lady Gaga ‘s Born This Way and Michael Bubl
Neither. Adele did! The results are finally in and 2011′s World Wide Year-End chart is available for all to see. The figures are based on the album sales made within the year – even if the album, itself, wasn’t released then. Holding the #1 spot is Adele , whose 21 album sold 15.3 million copies. (She also holds the #7 spot with her 19 album – despite it being released three years ago – with 2.8 million copies.) Lady Gaga technically nabbed the #2 spot, but she is still very far behind Adele in sales; her Born This Way album sold 5.4 million copies. Rihanna sits pretty at the #5 spot with her LOUD album selling 3.4 million copies. Beyonce , however, just made the cut. She achieved the final spot in the Top 10 with her 4 album selling only 2.1 million copies this year. See the rest of the Top 40 here! Rihanna & Chris Brown Subtweeting?
Music fans agree Adele ‘killed 2011’ with ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ but they have their own favorites too. By James Dinh Adele Photo: Columbia After MTV’s roundtable of experts chose Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” as the top two Best Songs of 2011 , music fans made their opinions heard, sharing their picks or voicing support for the chart-topping ladies and the rest of the top 10. Adele received plenty of backup for her Song of the Year win, including from Facebook user Cavisha Brown: “Guys, Adele killed 2011 with ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and ‘Someone Like You.’ Adele for the win!” Another Facebook fan, Alvaro Magui
