Mel Gibson Threatens to Kill Oksana Grigorieva, Admits Beating Her in Terrifying New Tape

The tape of Mel Gibson’s racist, misogynistic tirade leaked a few days ago already proved what a disturbed guy he is, but we held out hope that at least Oksana Grigorieva’s claim of him physically assaulting her was not true. Not only is it true, he threatened to do it again … and worse. In a new eight-minute audiotape so vulgar and shocking it defies comphrension, Mel admits to hitting Oksana, says she deserved it and threatens her further. This recording makes the previous Mel Gibson rant look tame. Mel’s deeply disturbing remarks on the tape, which you can listen to after the jump (it is extremely upsetting) could be a powerful piece of evidence against him in the criminal investigation that is being conducted by the authorities. Mel Gibson needs serious help. Now. Rambling and so enraged that he’s gasping for air, Mel pants heavily in between vile insults on the tape, at times nearly incapable of speaking. It’s not an exaggeration to call this the most bizarre, infamous celebrity meltdown in history. Equally strange? That Oksana remains perfectly calm throughout, presumably because she’s taping it. Not that Mel’s conduct is in any way justified, but there are no words to describe this … no one should ever be THAT worked up. What could have happened to trigger this kind of rage? In any case, the tape, if legitimate, which it certainly appears to be after we’ve listened to it twice, the tape is not only big trouble for Mel in the domestic violence investigation , but for his career prospects. It’s that bad. It’s so much worse than you think, we can’t come close to doing it justice, but you can listen to the entire tirade here if you can stomach it … Mel Gibson Threatens Oksana Grigorieva

Despicable Dominates Friday

Well, it seems like it was only poor ‘ol S.T. and me who had no clue what the heck Despicable Me was. Clued-in audiences have responded in a big way to Steve Carell who plays…a guy…who kind of looks like Uncle Fester and he’s got these little yellow…homunculi? slaves? widgets? and then something happens with kids in 3D. I dunno. But everyone else is eating it up! It made more than $22 million yesterday which may lead to a surprisingly huge $55 million-plus weekend. Meanwhile the Most Vapid Love Triangle in Cinematic History pulled their chaste love train into second place as Eclipse added about $11.5 million last night to their coffers. Predators generated about $11 million on its opening night, which may not sound like a lot until you realize that executive producer Robert Rodriguez makes things on the crazy-cheap and the budget for this one was like 78 bucks and some buttons that Rodriguez found in his ashtray. The inimitable Toy Story 3 and the incompetent Last Airbender made up numbers 4 and 5, respectively. Check out the full numbers after the jump.

VIDEO: Watch Charlton Heston, Man of Leisure, Explain the ‘X’ Rating

It’s Friday! The drinks are flowing early at Movieline HQ East, where the discovery of a vintage Charlton Heston/MPAA ratings advisory on YouTube has left even the cleaning lady in a state of transfixed awe. It’s not just the corniness of it all; in fact, Heston’s earnest, ambassadorial zeal for explaining the G, PG, R and X ratings (this thing is at least 40 years old) yields a bittersweet taste of Hollywood’s Golden Era. Or that could just be the cheap gin. And God only knows who decided to shoot this on a tennis court. Soak it all in after the jump.

Project Runway’s Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice to Make a New Show Work

No matter how good Project Runway ‘s new 90-minute format is , the fashion design series can’t reclaim the characters who made the show revolutionary in its first and second seasons — including Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice. However, Lifetime is claiming those two vets for a new series , On the Road with Austin & Santino , and that’s good enough news to recolor my vision of reality TV this summer (for the better!). The two designers will visit small towns throughout America and provide stylish assistance to the country’s downtrodden women. It debuts July 29 after Project Runway ‘s eighth season premiere. I’m obligated to excite you with clips of Austin and Santino’s best PR moments after the jump.
