Kate Gosselin Plus 8 Premiere Date Announced

Despite the objections of Jon Gosselin , Kate Plus 8 returns to the airwaves with all-new episodes beginning Monday April 4, TLC announced Tuesday. In the hour-long season premiere, the infamous reality mom takes her eight kids on their most far-flung journey to date (one that Jon tried to halt). We’ll get to see the famous family ring in a New Year in Sydney, Australia. Other highlights of their down-under adventures include playing at the beach; quality time with Australian aboriginals; a freezing-cold ocean encounter with sharks… and, despite Kate’s meltdown outside a tent in Alaska, another camping trip. It’s this kind of well-rounded, worldly experience Kate defended recently as she looked to deflect criticism of her show doing more harm than good. What do you think? Are you excited it’s coming back on?

Will 2011 be the year of Claire Foy? She’s getting an early-enough start: The 26-year-old British actress makes her big-screen debut this week in Season of the Witch , starring as a nameless, possibly accursed young woman whom a pair of 14th-century knights (Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman) must transport to an abbey in the hopes of curbing the Black Plague. If only it were that easy: One misfortune and suspicion after another befalls the knights’ quest, threatening them, their cargo, and maybe the entirety of human civilization. All in a day’s work, right?

Oprah Winfrey launched her new network on New Year’s Day, and I have news for you: It’s still on right now. Like, it’s on in front of me. It’s making noise and Oprah gestures and Travoltan shrieks. Right now. If this Oprah insists on buying the airwaves surrounding my beloved Game Show Network and and Teen Nick, I guess she deserves serious consideration. Join me on a day-long journey as I try watching this damn thing — though we’ll break when An Officer and a Gentleman comes on since it’s too early for safe Debra Winger consumption.
