Family Of Girl Who Died In Jail Following “Violent” Police Arrest Demands Investigation The family of an Alabama teen who died in jail following an arrest for disorderly conduct in November is now calling for an investigation into what happened. Family members of 18-year-old Sheneque Proctor reportedly believe that an asthma attack prompted by a “violent” police arrest triggered her yet-to-be-explained death. via Naturally Moi A new petition has been circulating in response to a young woman who is now being called the “female Eric Garner.” The petition is demanding that the federal and state governments investigate the death of Sheneque Proctor. The 18 year old young woman died in police custody at Bessemer City Jail after she was arrested on November 1st. According to Proctor’s relatives, she was at a hotel attending a party with friends when police arrested her for disorderly conduct. Proctor is reported to have complained to the police that she had problems with asthma but her words allegedly fell on deaf ears. The next morning, she was found lifeless in her jail cell. Bessemer City Attorney Shan Paden commented, “I know the case. I know we had a death in the jail. Erring on a conservative side, not to protect the city but to protect the rights of an 18-year-old, the city of Bessemer will not disclose any information.” According to Proctors family, she suffered from asthma and the police were violent with her during her arrest. Proctor’s family is asking that people sign the petition so that they can get some answers about their beloved daughter. We’ll definitely be following this story and will continue to keep you updated as it unfolds. In the meantime, you can read more about the petition HERE . Continue reading →
Teacher Causes Outrage After Allowing Students To Reenact Mike Brown Shooting At School Parents in Alabama are outraged after one mother took to her Faceook page to alert other parents that her child and theirs had been involved a reenactment of the senseless, fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Mike Brown while at school. via WFSA Selma The internal investigation is complete of a sixth grade Dallas County teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave after students in her 6th grade class were instructed to re-enact the August 9th shooting death of Michael Brown in class. Brown, 18, was fatally shot by a Ferguson, Missouri police officer. The unarmed black man’s death by a white police officer has sparked protests and riots in the St. Louis suburb and around the country. Dallas County School System Superintendent Don Willingham says he’s wrapped up his investigation of the unnamed Brantley Elementary School teacher and says he’s discussed his decision with the principal. School officials planned a meeting with the teacher for Thursday afternoon. Results of that meeting are not yet known. The re-enactment sparked outrage after a parent of one of the students complained about the class assignment on social media. The assignment started out as an innocent current events lesson, discussing the recent incident in Missouri that has garnered heavy media attention. But, Jessica Baughn, the student’s mother, says the assignment just went too far. “This is not nowhere near right,” Baughn explained. “It was uncalled for.” Baughn explained the assignment in which her son took part. “She [the teacher] had them get on the internet and look up everything about [the Ferguson shooting],” Baughn says. “They proceeded to re-enact the shooting in class.” Baughn says the students used paper guns and paper bullets. “They actually shot them out of this made gun,” she says. “The child falls on the ground like he’s dead.” Baughn claims a white child played the role of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson and a black student pretended to be Michael Brown. “I understand talking about current history,” the mom explained, “but not re-enacting it I don’t… What are we teaching our children?” We’ll definitely be paying attention to see how this story plays out. What are your thoughts on this, Bossip fam?
Nothing shared on social media stays private for long… UAB Student Kicked Out Of Sorority After Racist Snapchat A University of Alabama sorority girl got kicked out of her chapter after sharing with her Snapchat friends just how excited she was that no Black women had joined her Greek-letter organization on the last rush. Via HuffPost : A University of Alabama student was removed from her sorority this week for sending a racist Snapchat photo bragging that no black women were accepted to her Greek house. The executive headquarters for the Chi Omega Fraternity confirmed Tuesday the woman who sent the image is no longer a member of the UA chapter. Rumors circulated online that the Snap was Photoshopped; Chi Omega spokeswoman Whitney Plumpton told The Huffington Post the image being passed around (visible below) is “not the original Snapchat image,” although the original did contain the slur used in the altered version. The Snap, captioned “Chi O got “NO n*ggas!!!!!” over a selfie, was allegedly sent on bid day, which was Saturday. The women’s faces are blurred in the photo circulating online. The University of Alabama Greek system is under increased scrutiny this year, following the national attention in 2013 when sorority members began going public about how black women were systematically blocked from joining traditionally white houses, largely due to alumnae influence. Eventually, black women did begin joining the sororities, including a handful at Chi Omega. The university hosted its largest sorority rush in history this year, and offered bids to 21 black women, according to the Associated Press. Plumpton confirmed Tuesday that the original image did have the slur included, and refocused attention to the statement the national organization sent out on Monday: “What was expressed is absolutely reprehensible and completely inconsistent with Chi Omega’s values and policies,” the national organization said in the statement. “Chi Omega took swift disciplinary action in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. The woman who took the photo is no longer a member of the chapter.” Kicking her out doesn’t change what she and her little friends think…or who they do and don’t want joining their chapter. This likely speaks to a larger attitude within the Greek organization on that campus. We wonder how welcome the handful of Black members they do have truly are…

As fans kept their eyes on the field, ESPN commentator Brent Musburger commented on her looks during live TV. “You quarterbacks get all the good-looking women,” he joked in the booth. Musburger later apologized, but Webb didn’t seem to mind. The attention helped her land a feature in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue that same month. In March, she accepted McCarron’s proposal. “WE’RE ENGAGEDDD!!! @10AJMcCarron,” she gushed via Twitter, along with a picture of her new diamond ring. Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron have tied the knot! The 2012 Miss Alabama, who became a quasi-celeb when ESPN announcer Brent Musberger ogled her during a football game, wed the recent NFL draft pick. She tied the knot with the former University of Alabama quarterback at the United Methodist Church in Orange Beach, Alabama, on Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old Webb walked down the aisle with her father, Alan, and was attended by 10 bridesmaids, including her sister, Laurie, at the family affair. The groom’s best man was his brother Corey. McCarron, 23, started dating Webb (actually an Auburn graduate) in 2012, and a close-up shot of her at the national title game in 2013 put her on the map. Musberger went a little overboard admiring her in the stands, and soon enough, she was modeling in SI and being offered TV gigs left and right. A Georgia man charged with murder in the hot car death of his 22-month-old child was living a double life , a detective testified Thursday. Georgia Man Sexted With Women While Son Died In Hot Car Via USA Today reports: Cobb County Police Detective Phil Stoddard testified at a probable cause hearing that Justin Ross Harris was sexting with several women on the day of his son’s death and there were two life insurance policies on his son, Cooper. Stoddard described the evidence police have suggesting Harris, who also is charged with child cruelty, killed Cooper intentionally. Harris and his wife had two life insurance policies for the toddler, one for $2,000 and one for $25,000. Furthermore, Harris’ wife had become unhappy with her husband’s spending habits, Stoddard said. A woman whom Harris was sexting with, said that Harris “wanted to hook up.” Several explicit pictures were sent, beginning in the morning and lasting throughout the day, according to Stoddard said. Maddox Kilgore, Harris’ attorney, objected to the questions about the sexting, but the district attorney said that would show Harris was in an unhappy marriage and wanted a “childless life.” Stoddard also testified that Harris had accessed websites advocating “child free” and searched “how to survive prison” before Cooper died. “I think the evidence now is showing intent,” Stoddard said, explaining why he thought Harris should be denied bond. Stoddard said Harris was a “flight risk,” because there was evidence of a double life, Harris had family in Alabama and that Harris had said he had law enforcement experience. Harris has told police he was supposed to drive his son to day care the morning of June 18 but drove to work without realizing that his son was strapped into a car seat in the back. This ain’t isht dad will have to live with his fatal mistake for the rest of his life. So, he was sexting with women and forgot about his son?? Something doesn’t add up!
