Britney Spears May Release Ke$ha-Penned ‘Till The World Ends’ As Next Single

Artwork for the single from Femme Fatale, expected out sometime next week, shows up online. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Jeremy Cowart/ WireImage Slowly but surely, fans are getting a taste of what Britney Spears’ March 29 album release, Femme Fatale, will sound like. On Wednesday, Spears slowed things down with the tease for her track “Criminal” and psyched fans up with the news that she worked with Travis Barker on the album. Fans are speculating that the next single released will be the Ke$ha-penned track, “Till the World Ends.” Art for the single’s cover, in which Spears appears sitting on a couch in a sweater and heels, was posted at Deezer.com . The single will reportedly drop sometime next week, according to a tweet sent out by Tampa radio station 93.3 FM. “Hearing from Jive Records that we’ll have a new @BritneySpears single to play next week!” Ke$ha recently dished about the track to Spin.com , noting that the song is about the power of an artist performing a great gig. “That song is me imagining her and any female musician touring the world,” she says. “You know, when you go out, and you’re having an amazing, magical night and you don’t want to go to sleep and you want it to last until the world ends.” Spears’ longtime manager Larry Rudolph recently told MTV News that he’s super-excited about the next single off Femme Fatale . “I don’t think I’ve been this excited about releasing a Britney single in many, many years,” he said. “It’s that good. That’s all I’m gonna say about it at the moment. I haven’t heard a final mix of it, but I should get it in the next day or two. So far, what I’ve heard is just extraordinary. It really is amazing. Her fans will be very happy with it. I’m trying hard to get it out before the album comes out.” For those keeping count, it’s not the first time Ke$ha and Spears have worked together. Ke$ha appeared on the Circus song “Lace and Leather.” “I just did backgrounds for her ’cause I was so broke. I needed to pay my rent,” she shared back in 2009. “I got a few bucks. No, [I didn’t meet her]. I just did backups for her.” Related Videos MTV First: Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Premiere Related Photos Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Pop-Culture References Related Artists Britney Spears Ke$ha

Lady Gaga’s ‘Government Hooker’ Makes Fashion-Show Debut

Dance track from Born This Way has a thumping beat and operatic vocals. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga walks the runway during the Mugler Paris Women’s Fashion Week show Photo: Francois Durand/ Getty Images Lady Gaga managed to look like a seasoned pro when she hit the catwalk for Mugler’s Paris Women’s Fashion Week show , where she made her debut as a model. The singer donned two looks, one all-black and the other white, for her rousing appearance. While her runway appearance was certainly headline-making, it was the fact that Gaga previewed part of a Born This Way song for the fashionistas that was even more noteworthy. The dance track, “Government Hooker,” was the latest song Gaga has teased fans with from her May release. It featured a thumping beat, operatic vocals and a trance-y vibe. On it, she sings sexy lines like, “I can be anything/ I’ll be your everything/ Just touch me, baby.” The massive club track features Gaga’s full voice sharing requests like, “Put your hands on me.” On the track about desire, she sings, “I’m gonna drink my tears tonight/ I’m gonna drink my tears and cry/ ‘Cause I know you love me, baby.” During the show, she also played “Schei

After Rodney Jerkins discusses ‘out-of-the-box’ track, a rep for Barker confirms collabo to MTV News. By James Montgomery Britney Spears Photo: Courtesy of Zomba Records In a recent interview with MTV News, producer Rodney Jerkins said that, on her upcoming Femme Fatale album, Britney Spears got “hands-on,” supplying him with “a lot of ideas” and helping shape the energetic sound of the project. “She’s great. She gets it,” Jerkins said. “She is a top-notch veteran pro at this now.” So it should probably come as no surprise that, somewhere along the line, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker came to be involved in recording the album — because, while we’re not sure if bringing him onboard was Britney’s idea, he is most certainly the kind who can bring the energy. And, as Jerkins said in a recent sit-down with Headline News’ “Showbiz Tonight,” the experience of working with Spears and Barker was a new one for everyone involved. “I’m really excited. … I did two songs on her album, and one of the songs I did, I brought in Travis Barker, and it’s got this rock feel which is out of the box, out of my norm, and I think it’s out of her norm as well,” Jerkins said. “We had a great time making this record.” Jerkins didn’t elaborate on much else about the Barker song or Britney’s album, saying only that the project is “classic Britney spears, uptempo heavy, of course. It’s new and different.” A spokesperson for Barker confirmed to MTV News that the collaboration happened “about a month ago” but, much like Jerkins, wouldn’t reveal any additional details of the song. Britney Spears Says Femme Fatale Album ‘Speaks For Itself’

‘I think it’s the best album I have ever made,’ Spears tells V magazine. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Britney Spears’ issue of V magazine is set to officially drop on Thursday, but a sneak peek of the issue, which features the singer donning couture in photos shot by Mario Testino, found its way online in advance. In the interview with the magazine, Spears opens up about her new album, her love of dance music and her rise to fame. “I don’t think I thought about ‘fame’ when I was a child,” she told the fashion mag. “I knew I wanted to perform and I knew I wanted to be on stage, but I don’t think I ever thought about fame or what comes with being famous.” When asked if she was destined to be famous, she jokes, “If not, then God definitely has a strange sense of humor.” The singer admits that she has a certain mantra when it comes to dealing with both the good and the bad that come with being a celebrity. “I have learned to always stay true to myself and never let what other people say about me change who I am,” she explained. “It’s a really important lesson that took me a long time to learn.” Spears is also staying true to her musical roots on her new album, which drops March 29, which she says embraces who she is in her life now. “I think Femme Fatale speaks for itself,” she said. “I worked really hard on it and spent almost two years recording it. I think it’s the best album I have ever made. There’s nothing to say. I’ll let the music speak for itself. … It’s definitely my edgiest and most mature sound yet. “It’s a little bit of both [an evolution and a revolution],” she continued. “There are songs on this album that don’t sound like anything else and are completely revolutionary, but I also believe this album expresses where I am today as a woman and is an evolution of who I am.” Related Videos Reactions To Britney’s ‘Hold It Against Me’ Related Photos Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ Pop-Culture References Related Artists Britney Spears

Britney Spears ‘Very Hands-On’ For Femme Fatale, Rodney Jerkins Says

‘She had a lot of ideas for me,’ producer says of pop star’s new album. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kara Warner Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale Photo: Jive Britney Spears is a month away from the release of Femme Fatale, and nearly every day, she’s teasing fans with samples of some of the songs on the album, including the latest, her song with will.i.am, “The Big Fat Bass.” Now, longtime collaborator Rodney Jerkins is opening up about hitting the studio with Spears. “Britney’s always great to work with. I’ve worked with Britney for 12, 13 years now,” he told MTV News. “It’s always great to work with someone when you work with someone time and time again; it’s always great, and it always gets better. And just to see her evolve as an artist, it’s an amazing, amazing thing.” Jerkins worked with Spears in the past on “Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)” and “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” in the early 2000s, as well as her leaked version of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” when she was recording Circus. This time around, he said Spears knows exactly what she wants musically on the album. “She was very hands-on. She had a lot of ideas for me,” he said. “She’s great. She gets it. She is a top-notch veteran pro at this now.” She might be getting some help from Jerkins, but Dr. Luke and Max Martin are executive-producing the album, and Jerkins had nothing but the best to say about the production team. “I never spoke to them, [but] those guys are just great, and the stuff that they’ve been doing is just really, really great stuff,” he said. “I’m sure with their hands on it, it’s great.” Spears herself has described the album as “moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy,” hinting that many of the songs will be uptempo, and Jerkins noted that the songs he’s been writing for her have certainly fit that label. “I know the songs that I do are uptempo,” he said. “The stuff I’ve done, I think, will kind of shock people. I got a chance to go out my box a little bit too. She’s great. Britney’s just awesome.” What are you expecting from Britney’s new music? Let us know in the comments! Kevin Costner Will Be ‘Pa’ In ‘Superman,’ Sources Reveal

Reports say Oscar-winner will play Man of Steel’s adoptive father, Jonathan Kent, in Zack Snyder’s reboot. By Shawn Adler Kevin Costner Photo: Getty Images/ Kevin Winter Kevin Costner is a man of interest for the Man of Steel, with director Zack Snyder and team keen to cast the “Bull Durham” and “Dances With Wolves” star in their Superman reboot, according to a Deadline report. Citing “well-placed sources,” Latino Review reported that Costner will play Jonathan “Pa” Kent, Kal-El’s adoptive Earth father. With the film shrouded in secrecy, though, it might take Brainiac himself to figure out exactly for what role Costner is being courted. But, given Costner’s screen history in films like “Field of Dreams,” the role of “Pa,” played by Glenn Ford in Richard Donner’s 1978 “Superman,” seems likely. What little is known about the film suggests Costner also could play the role of Perry White, editor-in-chief of Metropolis mega-paper The Daily Planet , or General Zod, hinted as a companion to a rumored fellow Kryptonian villain. It’s possible Costner might even step into the shoes of fellow Oscar-winners Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey to play archenemy Lex Luthor. Whoever he plays, Costner would be alongside Brit Henry Cavill , pegged to wear the Man of Steel tights in Snyder’s re-imagining. Fans recently got their first glimpse of “The Tudors” star on the cover of Entertainment Weekly sporting a T-shirt with the iconic Superman shield. Adele Says Writing 21 ‘Broke My Heart’

British singer’s second album hit stores in the U.S. on Tuesday. By James Montgomery Adele Photo: MTV News Adele’s jaw-dropping sophomore album, 21, officially hit stores in the States on Tuesday (February 22), having already topped the charts in her native U.K. (and most of Europe too). And while it might seem odd for her to be so excited about another release — especially since 21 has been out for more than a month worldwide — the 22-year-old songstress isn’t hiding the fact that she’s anxiously awaiting her first-week numbers here in the U.S. To hear her tell it, she never thought she’d get the opportunity to sell albums here at all. “Oh, it’s magical being here. I didn’t think I’d ever release a record here,” she laughed. “It’s a big deal in England. There’s a massive thing, like, ‘Did you crack America?!?’ The biggest acts in England, no one has any idea who they are here. … I’m not a radio artist here, I’m not on pop stations really, I have these songs that go everywhere. So it really is people are proper behind me here, because I sell records; I don’t sell singles. And that doesn’t happen anywhere.” And her (presumed) Stateside triumph would be even sweeter considering, during the promotional run for her last album, the Grammy-winning 19, she steeped herself in all things American. And a lot of those influences — country, R&B, bluegrass, jazz, plus a few you might not suspect — are all readily apparent on 21. “I was a proper sponge when I did my big bulk of American touring. I was on a tour bus, so I was literally driving across America; I wasn’t getting on planes or anything like that. I’d be in Baltimore and hear this amazing, crazy hip-hop, and then be in Atlanta, and then in Texas, Nashville and end up in California. [And] I loved it,” she said. “And that rubbed off on this record. I don’t think I’ve made an Americana-sounding record, but certainly the delivery of a lot of the blues and country and rockabilly artists, and hip-hop. Like, I’m totally fascinated with the way Kanye and Nas and Mos Def manipulate a word to make it rhyme and to make it really fascinating when it’s actually pretty mundane. Analyzing normal things, but making them electric, that’s definitely rubbed off on my delivery and my writing, the way I connect with my songs and channel them.” And while she’s channeled her love of American music into her new album (and a mysterious hip-hop collaboration that she can’t mention “just in case it doesn’t happen”), what resonates most with fans on both sides of the Atlantic is the unflinching honesty she displays throughout. Songs like “Rolling in the Deep,” “Set Fire to the Rain” and the shattering “Someone Like You” are very much about the death of her first, as she put it, “real relationship,” and that heartbreak not only provides the backbone to the album, but has connected with her fans in a way even she couldn’t have predicted. “It broke my heart when I wrote this record, so the fact that people are taking it to their hearts is like the best way to recover. ‘Cause I’m still not fully recovered. It’s going to take me 10 years to recover, I think, from the way I feel about my last relationship,” she said. “It was the biggest deal in my entire life to date. … He made me totally hungry. … He was older, he was successful in his own right, whereas my boyfriends before were my age and not really doing much. And he got me interested in film and literature and food and wine and traveling and politics and history, and those were things I was never, ever interested in. I was interested in going clubbing and getting drunk.” And so if (or, more likely, when) 21 tops the Billboard albums chart, Adele will celebrate in her own way. She’s gone through the heartbreak, she’s grown up, and she carries with her a truly tremendous new album. Though someone will probably have to tell her when her album is #1. Even though she’s anxiously waiting for those first-week numbers, she’s actually stopped paying attention. “I disconnected my Internet,” she laughed. “I have no idea what’s going on!” Will you be picking up Adele’s latest? Kim Sozzi Ready To Release Self-Titled Second Album

Dance hitmaker calls ‘Little Bird’ Annie Lennox cover ‘a standout track.’ By Adam Stewart Kim Sozzi Photo: MTV News She’s an original Jersey Shore girl. She didn’t need to GTL or puff-her-poof before taking the stage at the legendary D’Jais nightclub in Belmar, New Jersey. All she needed was great music and her loyal fans. Kim Sozzi has always seemed to have a knack for that true Jersey Shore vibe. Growing up in Long Island, New York, and getting her start in the club scene, Sozzi is one of dance music’s most-iconic vocalists. Through various projects, labels and collaborations, she has maintained her position as one of underground dance music’s most-sought-after hitmakers, and after two years, is set to release her second studio album, the self-titled Kim Sozzi . While no official release date has been set, Sozzi assured MTV News that the album is complete and ready to go. “It’s totally different from my dance [music] and my previous singles,” Sozzi said. “I wanted to do something a little more mainstream. Hopefully my dance fans are going to follow me over, but if not, I have plenty of classic Kim Sozzi songs on the album.” After releasing “Rated R,” the album’s first single, back in December, Sozzi is gearing up to release the second track, “Little Bird,” a cover of the Annie Lennox classic. “I love, love, love this record. It came out great,” Sozzi gushed. “The guys from Beatport actually did the production. They did a killer job. This is definitely going to be a standout track on the album … It’s totally a song for the fans.” Produced by former Beatport staffers Brad Roulier and Shawn Sabo, known as Manufactured Superstars, “Little Bird” shows Sozzi at her best. With her distinctly sexy swagger and stunningly soulful vocal prowess accompanied by clean and crisp production from the Denver duo, this little birdie seems geared to fly up the charts. Sozzi has been a magnet for producers since she burst onto the scene back in 2001 with the epic Sound Factory NYC anthem “Feelin’ Me,” produced by Hex Hector and Jonathan Peters. She was launched almost instantly on a path to chart success, becoming a go-to for dance producers and topping the Billboard dance chart several times. In 2004, she joined the production quintet Mynt, which pumped out classic dance smashes such as “How Did You Know?” “Stay” and “Still Not Sorry.” To the dismay of their fans, the group split up in 2006 amid what many speculated were creative differences. “It’s tough because when you’re working with producers, it’s a double-edged sword,” Sozzi explained. “It’s great because you have these built-in people working around the clock and playing and producing, but then you also have everyone wanting to be the star, so it’s definitely a bit tricky. “But luckily, since parting ways, we are all friends again, which is nice, but I always wanted to be a solo artist, so I’m happy we did it amicably. It sounds like a divorce, but it kind of was.” Rich “DJ Riddler” Pangilinan , a well-known DJ/producer and former Mynt member, shared a similar sentiment regarding the split, saying he’s also glad the past is behind them. “It’s no secret that there were some differences in opinions on that project and some feelings were hurt on both sides,” he said. “It took some time to mend those fences, however, we were friends before that project, and we stayed friends after. “If there was one thing that I regret about that project it is that we never really got to do another album. I think that with what we both know now, we could come up with something very special.” Whether or not a Mynt reunion would ever be in the cards, Sozzi is keeping her eyes and ears open, always seeking to make moves and pair up with the hottest names in dance music. “I would love to work with deadmau5, David Guetta. I’m a big fan of Kaskade; I’ve been trying actually to get Ryan to work on one of my tracks. There’s so many great people doing great music and great tracks that I would like to work with.” Are you awaiting the release of Kim Sozzi’s next album? Tell us below!
