Snooki’s Lawyer Enters Not Guilty Plea

‘Jersey Shore’ star was not in Seaside Heights courtroom for disorderly conduct case on Wednesday. By Gil Kaufman Snooki in her booking photo on July 30 Photo: WireImage A lawyer for “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was in a Seaside Heights, New Jersey, courtroom on Wednesday (August 18), where he entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client. According to The Associated Press, attorney Raymond Raya entered not-guilty pleas to three charges of disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance stemming from a July 30 incident in which police said Polizzi became disruptive on the beach during filming for the show. Snooki did not appear at Wednesday’s hearing in municipal court in Seaside Heights, the shore town she and her housemates have made famous, thanks to their exploits on the MTV reality series. Prosecutors said Snooki, 22, could also face an additional public nuisance charge. A trial in the case is scheduled for September 8. Photos taken on the day of the arrest showed Snooki walking along the boardwalk with “Shore” pals Vinnie and Ronnie. In the images, the pint-size poofstress is sporting a hot-pink tiger-print T-shirt that reads “I Heart Snooki,” a baseball cap, a miniskirt and green slippers. She was reportedly taken in after beachgoers complained that she was bothering them. A week later, a defiant Snooki said that despite spending a few hours in police custody, taking a mascara-smeared mugshot and facing a potential fine of $250 to $1,000, she wasn’t sweating the arrest. “I don’t know why people are taking it so seriously,” Snooki told MTV News . “I had a couple cocktails and they just put me in a drunk tank to sober me up. I was on the beach. It happens to the best of us, and I’m not planning on going back to jail ever again. I was a public nuisance — big deal!” Even if she’s found guilty, Snooki will not face jail time, which is good, because she believes she’s way too fab to be behind bars. “I’m too pretty to be in jail,” she said. “I’m a good person. I’m not a criminal, and I will never go back there. … You can’t even contain me. When I was in there, I was like, ‘Can I come out? I can’t breathe!’ Not a fun place. I will never go back.” Watch “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Photos Jersey Shore (Season 2) | Snooki

Taylor Swift Debuts Speak Now Cover Art

The ‘Mine’ singer dons a sparkly, princess gown for her latest album, due October 25. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift’s Speak Now Photo: Big Machine Records The countdown has begun. With a little less than two months until Taylor Swift releases her new album, Speak Now, fans can now get a peek at the album’s cover art. On Wednesday (August 18), Swift revealed what the October 25 LP will look like. The image shows Swift twirling in a sparkly, deep-purple gown. She completes the look with her signature curls and bright red lips. Fans are already loving Swift’s first single from the album, “Mine,” a country-tinged pop tune about the ups and downs of falling in love again after being hurt. The video for “Mine” is set to debut on August 27, with her “You Belong With Me” director, Roman White, onboard for this one too. And Swift is keeping up her track record of casting adorable male leads: In the latest, she’ll have the help of British import and “Black Swan” star Toby Hemingway. “I was doing some more research and watched another movie he was in called ‘The Covenant,’ ” she said about Hemingway. “I’ve got this crazy 13 lucky thing, and he walks onscreen for the first time wearing a sweatshirt with a 13 on it! That was the deciding factor. It wasn’t really up to me, it was about the number.” Swift will also perform the song during a CMA special next month. As for the album, Swift admitted she’s using her personal experiences as fodder for the tracks. “For me, I write everything that I live, so you got to give yourself a little bit of time to live a lot of things so you can write about a lot of things, and my only option is to write about what I’ve been through and what I’ve lived, so thankfully, in the past two years, I’ve experienced a lot of things that I’ve been dying to write about and a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment that I didn’t,” she explained. Selena Gomez Releases New Album Track Listing

Katy Perry is featured on song from A Year Without Rain, due September 21. By Jocelyn Vena Selena Gomez Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage Selena Gomez is amping her fans up for the release of her next album. On Monday she took to Facebook to share with fans the complete official track listing for her upcoming album A Year Without Rain, due September 21. “Hey Everyone– I wanted to share with you the official tracks off my upcoming album ‘A Year Without Rain’ as well as the bonus features on the deluxe album. I can’t wait for you all to hear the album,” Gomez wrote. The 10 songs on the new album are: current single “Round & Round,” title track “A Year Without Rain,” “Rock God,” “Off the Chain,” “Summer’s Not Hot,” “Intuition,” “Spotlight,” “Ghost of You,” “Sick of You” and “Live Like There’s No Tomorrow.” The deluxe version of the album will include two remixes of “A Year Without Rain,” as well as a remix of “Round & Round.” While Gomez didn’t let on about any previously reported collaborations in her Facebook message, earlier this month some websites reported that “Off the Chain” features Miley Cyrus and “Rock God” features Katy Perry . There were also murmurings of a Demi Lovato duet, “The Begging of the Road,” but that song didn’t make it to the official list. Fans may have to wait to see if Cyrus’ vocals ended up on “Off the Chain,” however, Gomez has said that Perry contributed to her album. “Katy Perry gave me a song, and she did background vocals on it,” she said. “The whole experience was really fun.” As for some of the announced songs, Gomez recently spoke to MTV News about the album and gave some insight into what people can expect. “[‘A Year Without Rain’ is] basically one of my favorite songs on the record. It’s kind of got a more feel-good dance beat and feel. I love it. It’s different; [it] kind of shows my growth of my music,” she said. “There’s a song called ‘Intuition’ that’s one of my favorites. The message is basically every decision that you regret or second-guess, [just] do it [anyway]. I love that message so much.” Are you looking forward to Selena Gomez’s new album? Kid Rock Busts Out Six New Songs During Hometown Show

Rocker says new album Born Free will hit stores in November. By Gil Kaufman Kid Rock Photo: JulNeil Lupin/ Redferns What better place for Kid Rock to pull the curtain back on a six-pack of new songs than Detroit? The budding suds entrepreneur — who just launched the official website for his American Badass Beer — treated fans at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan, to a hits-packed series of three sold-out shows that featured the live debut of songs from his long-in-the-works next album, Born Free. In addition to the new hometown anthem “Times Like These,” which he unveiled last summer during a similar set of shows at Comerica Park, The Detroit News reported that the new tunes include the album’s title track and first single. The song was described as a patriotic, “chugging, Springsteen-like rocker” that showed serious promise thanks to Americana-dripping lyrics referencing rivers, canyons, the sun and the moon that he said was inspired by his trips overseas to visit U.S. troops. Rock also played the mid-tempo “Slow My Roll,” which is about, well, slowing down and taking it all in, and the somber “Rock On,” which he described as a tune about a “dark” relationship that chronicled a rough breakup. “Feels Good to Me” came off like a 1970s FM-radio rock shuffle and featured a sax solo. The rapping rocker also reportedly mentioned several times that the Detroit-area shows would be his “last hurrah” before he puts the finishing touches on the album and hits the road in earnest next year. Rock has been laying low over the past year as he worked on the follow-up to 2007’s slow-burn hit album, Rock n Roll Jesus. Billboard reported that the disc, originally slated for September 7, will not come out until November 16, according to a message flashed on the onstage video screen at the end of Saturday night’s show. A spokesperson for Rock could not be reached for comment at press time. Among the other new songs Rock played were the snaky, Rolling Stones-like lunch-pail rocker “God Bless Saturday,” according to Billboard, which also noted that the up-tempo “Feels Good to Me” will feature country singer Trace Adkins on the album. In addition to playing covers of songs by Sly & the Family Stone and country rebel Jamey Johnson, Rock was joined by “Scream 4” actor David Arquette, who danced onstage during “Three Sheets to the Wind” on Saturday night. Johnson opened Sunday’s show, and one of Rock’s idol’s, Detroit rock legend Bob Seger, dueted with Rock and Johnson on his hit “Turn the Page.” Are you looking forward to Kid Rock’s new album? Linkin Park Promise ‘Catalyst’ Video Will Be ‘Very Different’

Joe Hahn ‘likes to go for something big,’ bassist Phoenix Farrell says of LP DJ’s vision for new clip. By James Montgomery Linkin Park Photo: Rob Loud/Getty Images Linkin Park have spent much of the past year touting the overall insanity of their upcoming A Thousand Suns album (it’s a “grandiose insanity,” in case you were wondering), and that idea certainly carries over into the first single, an aching slice of synth doomery titled “The Catalyst” . It seems that, every step of the way, the band is trying very hard to move beyond their nu-metal roots. So it should come as no surprise, too, that the video for “Catalyst” is a far different animal. “[Linkin Park DJ] Joe [Hahn] directed it, and Joe likes to create things visually, likes to go for something big,” LP bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell told MTV News. “So the look of it is very different. There’s a lot of energy in it, and for me, that’s what makes for a good video. It adds something to the song, and that’s what makes me like this particular video even more.” Farrell wouldn’t spill any details of the video — it’ll have it debut here on August 25 on MTV.com and VH1.com — but he did hint that it would be in keeping with the artistic theme of Suns (due September 14), which means that Linkin Park fans should gear up for a whole lot of blurry, digitally-scarred WTF-ery … sort of like the cover of the album. “For this record, I think we were able to be in front of the curve for a lot of things. We were working on art, and we’ve been working on it nonstop, because we really wanted to incorporate it in everything,” Farrell said. “And in the case of the album cover, we released it in little pieces, gradually constructing it out of nothing, and fans were seeing all kinds of stuff, they saw people’s faces and everything … none of that was intentionally there.” So, will the secret of the Thousand Suns cover be revealed in “The Catalyst” video? Probably not. After all, the guys in Linkin Park aren’t even really sure what the image is supposed to be. “I don’t want to say what I think it is — I don’t know — but I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. It’s a good reference for the record itself,” Farrell said. “I would go so far as to say it’s anything you want it to be.” “The Catalyst” video premieres at midnight on August 25 (technically that’s the 26th) on MTV.com and VH1.com, and then on MTV, VH1, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, MTV Tr3s and all MTV international territories (MTV, VH1 and MTV2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on August 26). So what does Jorge Garcia think of the fact that Weezer put his face on the cover of their album, Hurley , which they named after his Lost character? “This is really close to the top, for sure,” he told MTV . “I think the [ Lost ] action figure still kind of trumps it, but just coming from where I come from, it’s extremely special and dear to my heart that this is actually happening.” Dear to his heart because he’s such a big fan of the band, right? Well, sort of. “I don’t recognize Maladroit so much,” he admitted, laughing. [ MTV ]

Bun B Hopes To Shoot Trill O.G. Videos With Drake

‘It’s always a good thing when me and the young boy get together,’ he tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Bun B Photo: MTV News Bun B and Drake are on a hot streak together, from their first collaboration “Uptown” to their most recent tracks “Put It Down” and “It’s Been a Pleasure” The UGK rapper opened for Drake earlier this month as a part of the Toronto star’s OVO Fest , and while he was in town, he tried to rope in his collaborator to shoot a video. The plan didn’t work out due to Drake’s busy schedule, but Bun said he plans to shoot videos for their songs and as many on his album, Trill O.G., as he can. “Definitely look for some visuals for ‘Put It Down’ in the future,” Bun told MTV News. “As well as ‘It’s Been a Pleasure.’ We’re gonna try to put out a visual for as much of Trill O.G. as we can.” A snippet of “Put It Down” leaked onto the Web well ahead of the album’s release, but now that Trill O.G. has arrived, the reaction to the Drake-assisted track has been high. “It’s very hard to live up to the hype the people create for things nowadays; luckily, this song did,” he said. ” ‘Cause a lot of time, people build something up, and it’s almost impossible to match up to that. In this case, it matched up to it. And the fact that the other song, ‘It’s Been a Pleasure,’ is on it, as well, you get two for two. It’s always a good thing when me and the young boy get together. It’s special music. That’s how I feel, and I think that’s how Drizzy feels.” What do you think about Bun B and Drake’s chemistry? Let us know in the comments!
