Alicia Keys’ ‘Un-thinkable’ Remix Features New Verse From Drake

Rapper gives male ‘biological clock’ point of view on reworked track. By Jayson Rodriguez Alicia Keys Photo: Martin Oeser/ AFP/ Getty Images Maybe Drake and Alicia Keys should collaborate more often. The rapper announced earlier this week that the singer would appear on his debut album Thank Me Later ‘s opening track, the intriguing “Fireworks.” And Keys’ latest single, “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready),” on which she collaborated with Drake and his producer Noah “40” Shebib, now has a verse by the Toronto lyricist tacked on it. And the track is already gaining on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart. On Wednesday (May 19), New York jock DJ Enuff posted Drake’s remix of “Un-thinkable” on his website, ThatsEnuff.com . In his verse, which kicks off the remix, Drake takes a different twist on the ticking biological clock, addressing it from a man’s perspective by using conversations he’s had with his and Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant. “Tez keeps telling me he just turned 30/ Having dreams of being single forever, he’s getting worried,” Drake raps. “And I’m scared too, ’cause I’m in the same boat/ Good women are rare too, none of them ever came close/ Me, I haven’t changed much, you know how I play it/ Better safe than sorry, instead of searching for substance at every single party.” The So Far Gone superstar continues, turning inward, describing his own life as a newcomer ascending into a new circle as a rising talent. “Baby, being part of this life, I feel like I’m bound to end up with somebody that’s been with everybody/ I need you to rescue me from my destiny/ I’m trying to live right and give you whatever’s left of me/ ‘Cause you know life is what we make it/ And a chance is like a picture, it’d be nice if you take it/ Or let me take it for you, I’m just down to ride/ We can roll around the city until you finally decide/ I got more than a thing for you, tattoo it in ink for you/ Right over my heart, girl, I do the un-thinkable.” Late last year, Drake said working with Keys on her Element of Freedom album was “one of the best studio experiences of my life.” The video to the original “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)” premiered last week and stars former “One Tree Hill” star Chad Michael Murray. Lena Horne Funeral Attended By Family, Famous Friends

Vanessa Williams was among mourners at New York memorial service. By James Montgomery Lena Horne’s funeral program Jazz great Lena Horne, who died Sunday at age 92, was remembered by hundreds of mourners at New York’s St. Ignatius Loyola church on Friday (May 14). At the funeral — attended by Vanessa Williams, former Mayor David Dinkins and actress Jenny Lumet — Horne was remembered by those who knew her as a girl from Brooklyn who became a world-renowned singer and actress and, in the process, lent her voice to those oppressed by decades of racism. But she was also so much more. “[She] was so many ideas existing all at the same time, in the same space, and they were all conflicting, and they were all true,” Lumet said, according to reports . “I’ve tried to sum her up and I can’t. … Summing up really means it’s over, and I think she’s not over and that she’s quite infinite.” Horne’s paternal grandparents were early members of the NAACP civil-rights organization, and in a precursor to her lifelong battle on behalf of equal rights, she was the cover girl for the organization’s monthly bulletin in October 1919, when she was just 2 years old. She would go on to sing at Harlem’s legendary Cotton Club, appear in Broadway productions and star in Hollywood films, though she would often refuse to play roles that portrayed blacks in subservient positions, which limited her appearances. By the 1940s, she was the top-earning black performer in Hollywood, playing lucrative nightclub gigs and gaining popularity among black and white G.I.’s during World War II. Horne’s sultry voice would go on to dazzle fans for decades on hits like “My Blue Heaven” and “Stormy Weather.” Upon learning of her death, a whole new generation of artists — including Alicia Keys, Diddy and Monica — remembered Horne as a pioneer and a prodigious talent, one the world would probably never see the likes of again. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake Photo: Cash Money Records Drake confirmed Alicia Keys will appear as a guest on his forthcoming debut album during the Los Angeles stop of his Away From Home tour on Thursday night. The Toronto MC broke the news to the crowd as the opening notes of “Fireworks,” slated to be Thank Me Later’s opening track, began to boom from the speakers. “This right here is the first song that you will here when you put that disk in,” Drake said of Thank Me Later, due June 15. “It’s a song with myself and Miss Alicia Keys, it’s called “Fireworks.” “Money just changed everything, I wonder how life without it would go,” he rapped. “From the concrete, who knew that a flower would grow/ Looking down from the top and it’s crowded below/ My 15 minutes started an hour ago.” Drake premiered the track during the first stop of his tour and has been revealing more of the number with subsequent performances. In Rolling Stone magazine’s Spring Music Preview, the So Far Gone superstar revealed the track would address his relationships with Lil Wayne, his own family, and a rumored romance with Rihanna. Last month, Drake told MTV News the song represents what his life is like at the moment . “The song itself is the first song on the album; I think it’s the biggest indicator of what the album is gonna be like,” he said. “That’s why I picked that song to go first, and that’s why I wrote the first verse like that. It’s really where I am in my life right now. I know they’re looking forward to the album, so I want them to get a feel of how the story starts off.” Are you excited to hear Alicia Keys collaborating with Drake? Let us know in the comments! American Idol Gives Back, Eliminates Tim Urban

The smile-filled journey of Tim Urban came to an end last night, as American Idol viewers voted this finalist off the show. The elimination didn’t come as a shock, giving Tim’s lackluster performance of “Better Days” on Tuesday, but the man that joined Urban in the bottom two may have surprised many: Casey James was finally punished for his lack of creativity on a weekly basis. As for the two-hour broadcast itself, Idol Gives Back is always an impressive event. It brings numerous A-listers together in the name of such charities as Save the Children. Among this year’s highlights: Wanda Sykes doing a stand-up routine in which she questioned the cruelty of making eliminated contestants sing the same song for which they were voted out. Mary J. Blige singing “Stairway to Heaven” with Randy Jackson on the guitar. A reunion of the top 12 stage on stage, as seen below. Annie Lennox taping a segment about an HIV-positive girl in Africa.
