Herman Cain on Racism: No Big Whoop Anymore!

Presidential candidate Herman Cain will never be accused of mincing words … or being a cliche. The African-American businessman recently raised eyebrows with some blunt comments on racism … and how people need to get over it. “I don’t have a lot of patience for people who want to blame racism on the fact that some people don’t make in America,” he said Fox News’ Hannity . Here’s Cain’s interview from last night on this and other topics: Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com Herman Cain on Hannity The Republican claimed that his academic and business achievements were “walking proof” that racism doesn’t hold people back if they don’t let it. “I don’t believe racism today holds anybody back in a big way,” he said. Cain also reiterated his attacks on Wall Street protesters from last week, accusing them of being jealous and calling the whole thing a distraction. “I believe this a coordinated effort of the unions and Obama supporters to distract the American people” from failed administration policies. Cain characterizes the movement as “class warfare,” “Un-American” and petty. “If you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself,” he said. Despite never having held elected office, the Hermanator has lit a fire under GOP voters, surging in recent polls. What do you think of Cain?

Myth-Busting History Lesson: Everyone Already Knew The Earth Was Round When Columbus Set Sail

Let’s get the facts straight on this fake holiday. First of all, we all know the original travesty: Columbus and his people came to America and killed all of the Native Americans and took their land. But there’s another travesty in the Columbus history. The idea that Christopher Columbus sailed across the world to prove that it was round was a big myth started by Washington Irving in his 1828 biography of the “discoverer”. Irving wrote a semi-fictional biography of Columbus and included that lie, which our teachers only perpetuate every day. In fact, as far back as Aristotle, people knew the world was round. So when your kid comes home from school talking about Columbus proving that the Earth was round, give him or her a history lesson and reveal the truth! All Columbus did was come to America and help lead the charge of Europeans killing and taking the land that wasn’t theirs. The End.

Christopher Columbus Did Not Discover America

Excerpt from:

Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492 and we celebrate him each year on Columbus Day. At least that is what all elementary school children were always taught: “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.”Here is the problem, it’s not really accurate. Myth: Death Penalty Does Not Deter Crime Columbus never did “discover” North America, and the regions he did explore were already inhabited. He only discovered them from the viewpoint of the Europeans. Yet his first voyage did prove one thing for sure, that the earth was not only round, but that it was bigger than he had thought. One of the first known celebrations marking the discovery of the “New World” by Christopher Columbus was in 1792, when a ceremony organized by the Colombian Order was held in New York City honoring Christopher Columbus and the 300th anniversary of his landing in the Bahamas. Then, on October 12, 1866 the Italian population of New York organized the first celebration of the discovery of America. Three years later, in 1869 Italians in San Francisco celebrated October 12 calling it C-Day. To mark the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ voyage, in 1892, President Benjamin Harrison made a commemorative proclamation. But it was Colorado, in 1905, that became the first state to observe a Columbus Day. Since 1920 the day has been celebrated annually, and in 1937 President Franklin Roosevelt proclaimed every October 12 as Columbus Day. That’s where it remained until 1971 when Congress declared it a federal public holiday on the second Monday in October. What Is Halloween? Columbus and 90 crewmen boarded the three ships that were to make the first voyage to the New World, the Niña , Pinta , and the flagship, Santa Maria . On October 12, 1492, Columbus first saw the islands of the new world, landing in the Bahamas. Later in the month, he would sail to Cuba, and to Hispaniola (now Haiti). He thought he had reached the East Indies, the islands off Southeast Asia. On Christmas Day, 1492, the Santa Maria sank off Hispaniola. Columbus departed for Spain on January 16, 1493 on the Niña , arriving there on March 4. Columbus made three additional voyages to the New World. The second voyage set sail in September, 1493, with 17 ships. During his expeditions, he helped to colonize Hispaniola, and discovered the South American mainland. He did not , however, see mainland North America during any of his voyages. Watch the video below for an understanding of Christopher Columbus:

Snoop Dogg Gets NBC Sitcom Deal

Rapper/actor will play a dad in the family comedy show. By Gil Kaufman Snoop Dogg Photo: Donna Ward/Getty Images He started out as a Long Beach hustler, made his bones as a breakout rap star and has played everything from a loveable stoner to Huggy Bear and an undead gangster in the 2001 horror flick “Bones.” But is America ready for Snoop Dogg family sitcom star? According to Deadline Hollywood the d-o-double g’s family comedy project has landed at NBC with a script in the works from veteran comedy writer Don Reo (“Blossom,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “My Wife and Kids”). Snoop, the family man who has managed to strike a balance between lascivious rhyme dropper and pee-wee football coach, will play a dad in the show, which he will also produce. Snoop has already worked with Reo on the Fox sitcom “Brothers,” a show about a former NFL player on which he played the role of cousin Kenny the Lawyer. He’s already done a dry run as the man of the house in his E! reality show “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood,” which followed his home life with his wife and three kids over two seasons. Snoop has seesawed between music and movies for years and was recently cast in the title role of the biopic “The Legend of Fillmore Slim,” the story of the 1970s San Francisco blues guitarist and pimp who was often referred to as the “West Coast Godfather of the Game.” Deadline noted that NBC has had mixed success with rapper sitcoms, ranging from the hit 1990s run by Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” to the notoriously awful 2001 pilot starring “Thong Song” star Sisqo and comedy icon Bob Newhart.
