Bump Twitter Or A Publicist: Hovi Hov Pops Up At Hot 97 To Address The Yeezy Fight Rumors, Talks Retailers And Retirement [Full Audio]

Illuminati Hov has created a new Hip-Hop urban legend. The story goes that he was on his way to his office at Roc Nation, around 3:00pm this afternoon, when he felt the need to stop by Hot 97 and visit with his old cronie Angie Martinez to address some things, namely the “The Throne is gonna fall apart before it even started” rumors we heard this morning. Here are a couple of highlights, courtesy of HipHopWired.com : “Kanye is a genius talent. Yeah we had a fight or something…I heard that I know we’re doing something right when I woke up to all that, I was like okay we’re hot now Kanye’s my brother. Yes we get on each other’s nerves but that’s part of pushing each other…the people who have problems with Kanye and myself are the people who are complacent in life. People don’t like to be pushed, it’s annoying. We push each other to be greater so yes at times in the studio where we’re yelling but that’s about it. I would never put my…I would never disrespect that man, I have so much respect for him. Put my hands on him…if I did it would be like in a backyard, you know…like brothers and you would never hear about it.” Our personal favorite moment from the interview: Yeah, I speak to [Young] Chris often. Freeway as well. I spoke to Beans when his grandma passed, we had a conversation. I don’t speak to Peedi at all, cuz he’s a psycho. [Angie: Jeez, that’s harsh.] What? [Angie: That’s not harsh?] No, he’s a psycho. That’s what I truly believe. Not trying to be funny or anything. Oh, and he’s also pulling a page from Wifey ‘s book: I’m sick of myself. Seriously, I gotta shut down after this. I never been on radio or TV this much in my life. I’m sick of myself. Flip the page for the full interview.

Jay-Z Clears Up Kanye West Fight Rumors

Here is the original post:

Jay-Z made an impromptu stop to Angie Martinez’ radio show to clarify rumors about a fight with Kanye West over tour differences. While rumors state that Jay, the suspected frugal of the pair wants to skimp on “all of the lights” and expensive stage sets, Jay set the record straight saying that he actually does want to spend a lot of money and “I would never disrespect that man, I have so much respect for him.” As for putting his hands on the genius also known as Kanye West, unless they are in a casual backyard type setting he would never touch Kanye. “Kanye’s my brother, yes we get on each others nerves, we push each other.” Listen here: Jay-Z & Kanye West Already Fighting Over “Watch The Throne” Tour Kanye West Spotted On Set Of “Otis” Music Video [PHOTO]

Lil Wayne Says He’d Retire To Be A Better Dad

‘I’m not gonna Brett Favre y’all,’ Lil Wayne tells MTV News about his retirement from rap. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Too $hort tried calling it quits but is now working on his 19th album. Jay-Z’s 2003 retirement lasted about three years before he returned to rap in 2006. And now Lil Wayne is talking about hanging up the mic. Will he actually do it? During a radio interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez in March, the 28-year old said he’s walking away at 35. Then Weezy switched up, telling XXL that he would be “gone by 31.” Now, Lil Tunechi, dropped his Sorry 4 the Wait mixtape on Wednesday, tells MTV News that he isn’t sure when exactly he will walk away from rap. “I’m not sure; I’m not gonna Brett Favre y’all,” Wayne said referring to the former Green Bay Packers quarterback who finally handed the NFL his walking papers in January after years of talking about it. “I’m not gonna draw it all the way out the whole year: ‘We wondering, is Wayne gonna do this?’ But the honest answer is I don’t know.” Wayne — who has already recorded eight solo albums, sold more than 10 million records and won four Grammy Awards — said he wants to focus less on making hits and more on his kids. His oldest daughter, Reginae, is a budding performer herself at age 12, and Weezy wants his little girl to eventually stunt like her daddy. “I’m so settled in my life right now,” he told us. “I have my kids; they’re wonderful. My daughter has her career ahead of her now. I have to focus on that, and I have to put the same focus that I put in my career. … I want to become a better father, I want to become a better man to my woman, and those things take time. and time takes away from this. So the honest answer to that [retirement] question is, I don’t know. Maybe so.” Weezy’s ninth solo album, Tha Carter IV is one of the year’s most-anticipated LPs and is set to be released on August 29. Will it be his last? Fans have to wait and see. Lil Kim Says She Once Recorded With Nicki Minaj

‘I saw her coming in the game, like, ‘All you chicks that been in the game for 10 years, move over,’ ‘ Kim tells Hot 97. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Kim Photo: Donna Ward/Getty Images To hear Lil Kim tell it, she and Nicki Minaj were set to be teammates instead of rivals. The Brooklyn rapper appeared on New York hip-hop station Hot 97 on Friday (December 17) and told host Angie Martinez that she was affiliated with Cash Money at one point and recorded with Nicki. “A lot of people might not know this, but me and [Cash Money co-CEO] Slim were very good friends,” Kim explained. “Very good friends for four or five years. My thing is this: I haven’t been doing music like that for a second and I looked at her buzz as a way in for me. I’m like, ‘OK, this is a good thing. This a way for me to kind of come back in.’ ” After they recorded, however, Kim said the feedback to her verses was better than her younger peer’s. Then, she said, the subliminal shots toward her from Nicki Minaj began. Kim, though, said she never had any reason to dislike the upstart. “I saw her coming up,” she said. “I saw her coming in the game, like, ‘All you chicks that been in the game for 10 years, move over. Y’all need to sit down.’ And this and that. I thought that was disrespectful.” Kim downplayed their current frosty relationship, saying the Queens femcee was obviously influenced by the Queen Bee. “I’m not looking for beef,” she said. “I’m not looking for someone to start a war with. That’s not me. That’s not what I do.” What do you think about Kim’s thoughts on Nicki? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos ‘Nicki Minaj: My Time Now’ Related Artists Nicki Minaj

Swizz Beatz Says ‘Pressure Was On’ For Kanye ‘Power’ Remix

‘When he made that announcement, we didn’t have what we had,’ Swizz reveals of ‘Ye’s on-air promise. By Jayson Rodriguez Swizz Beatz Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage Kanye West’s “Power” remix had just as much manpower on the record — ‘Ye, Jay-Z, John Legend, Swizz Beatz — as it did behind the scenes. According to Swizz Beatz, the studio sessions that ultimately led to the production of the number featured not only the aforementioned artists, but also input from Q-Tip, Mos Def and the Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams. “Just multiple combinations,” Swizz told MTV News on Monday (August 23). The MCs and producers were all working on each other’s albums as the “Power” remix was being put together. The pressure was on Kanye to deliver after the rapper announced in an interview with Angie Martinez on August 11 that a remix of “Power” featuring Jay-Z would be delivered by that Friday, August 13. “He definitely, definitely was focused,” Swizz said. ” ‘Cause when he made that announcement, we didn’t have what we had. But you know when something feels right and it’s time to let something to go. ” ‘Ye was trying to put it out the best way possible, to give it to the people,” Swizz explained of the delay that followed; the remix arrived a bit later than what Yeezy promised. “And then the day before, the last day, before the remix dropped, it just felt like the song needed to change up. I heard it changing up on something different, something that was already on the beat. And I was trying to explain it, but I didn’t want to go in too much because [Kanye] was writing his verse. But it sparked an idea.” Once work on the track was complete, though, there was little if any lag time from the studio to the airwaves. Swizz said that after they finished the three-part remix — one part Jay and ‘Ye ; one part a solo ‘Ye over slower music; and the third, Swizz’s contribution featuring Snap’s “I’ve Got the Power” — Funkmaster Flex had premiered the track on NY radio station Hot 97, before Swizz had even made it home from the studio.
