Bonner Springs, Kansas, venue identifies the late concertgoer as Curtis Alan DeForest. The young man died during the all-day show, held at Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Warped Tour officials are awaiting a complete report about the death from law enforcement and medical examiners. According to Sandstone’s website , the concertgoer was Curtis Alan DeForest, a 26-year-old Wichita, Kansas, resident. Tour organizers are working closely with Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone staff and local officials to determine the actual facts surrounding this tragic incident and will make further details known as they become available.” Kicking off in late June, this year’s tour has featured bands like 3OH!3, the All-American Rejects, Sum-41 and Taylor Momsen’s the Pretty Reckless. Flo Rida Records Unofficial Miami Heat Anthem

Inspired by LeBron James’ arrival, the Florida MC says he hopes ‘We Already Won’ will ‘get the city hype.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Flo Rida in the studio recording “We Already Won” Photo: Peter Bailey/Andy Boy Genius/Niteside/NBC Miami Heat fans have been celebrating ever since NBA phenom LeBron James announced his move to the Florida team last week. (After ‘Bron made his announcement, Miami’s DJ Irie described the mania in the city in an email to MTV News: “Miami is literally in a frenzy right now! Leftover fireworks from the Fourth of July are going off left and right.”) Now, one of the state’s hitmaking stars has hit the studio to record a track to help Heat fans get their party on. Flo Rida jumped in the lab to make “We Already Won,” a banger that he dubs an unofficial anthem for the Miami Heat. Flo broke down the creation of the song to NBC Miami’s Niteside blog . “Being a part of the Poe Boy family, we always trying to do something to get the city hype,” Flo said. “So I called my colleagues Billy Blue, Brianna, Desloc [Piccalo], Ball Greezy, Brisco. We just trying to build up the morale of Dade County. Having LeBron come in, having [Chris] Bosh come in, we think that’s a great thing. So we just got in the studio and did what we always do — go in there and make a great record.” The Florida rapper, who’s broken chart records with party-starting hits like “Right Round,” also chopped it up for the blog about his next album, which he’s expecting to drop in the fall. Flo talked to MTV News last month about crafting the David Guetta-produced jam “Club Can’t Handle Me,” which will be featured on the LP, as well as the “Step Up 3-D” soundtrack. “It’s called The Only One,” Flo told NBC Miami, adding that the buzz surrounding the Heat’s new lineup is inspiring his latest effort. “It definitely feels special for the fact that we got LeBron and this crazy team, you know, [Dwyane] Wade and everybody.” Who else would you like to hear take a stab at a Miami Heat anthem? LeBron James Heads To Miami Heat

The NBA Superstar announces long-awaited decision, saying decision to leave hometown Cleveland motivated by desire ‘to win.’ By Kelley L. Carter LeBron James announces that he will play for the Miami Heat on ESPN July 8 Photo: ESPN It was a move that will surely go down in sports history. But after a protracted wait, King James finally announced, at 9:27 p.m. ET, he’d be joining the Miami Heat. LeBron James’ decision to televise his decision became an event that seemed as if it could have been ripped from the pages of a screenplay. Sitting before ESPN cameras, the former Cleveland Cavaliers forward had millions of viewers anticipating his final choice with baited breath. “I feel like this is going to give me the best opportunity to win — and to win for multiple years. I want to be able to win championships,” he said, explaining what motivated him to venture to Miami. “This process has been everything I thought and more. I put myself in the position to have this process, where I could hear teams’ pitches and figure out what was the best possibility for me to win … and be happy,” James said during an interview before his big announcement. The 25-year-old revealed that it was a really humbling experience to be in the position he’d found himself in, as multiple teams vied for his attention. James thanked all of those teams, saying he’d made the decision earlier Thursday morning (July 8) and adding that in the preceding weeks, he often changed his mind on a day-to-day basis. “I woke up, had a great conversation with my mom, once I had that conversation with her, I was set,” he said. James is considered to be the most prized free agent in league history, and he was the last of the top free agents to announce where he’d land. The major factor in his decision, he said, was the best opportunity for him to win, both now and in the future. “Every since I was a rookie or in high school … that was the number one thing for me,” he said. “I’ve done some great things in my seven years and I want to continue to do that,” he continued about his tenure in Cleveland. The announcement comes after what felt like an eternity of a waiting period, with the two-time NBA MVP finally ending months of speculation about where he would play basketball next season. (James is only one of two players to earn the MVP accolade twice by the age of 25; Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the other.) Diehard NBA fans and casual watchers alike had been guessing about where James would go in 2010, many since the NBA superstar signed his last contract back in 2007. Before his announcement, speculation was heavy: Would he break his hometown, Cleveland’s, heart? Would he go to Miami and join his former U.S. Olympic teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh? Or would he go to New York or Chicago? Hours before the announcement on Thursday, James made an appearance at his basketball camp, arriving mid-afternoon with former teammate Damon Jones. Others in attendance included top college coaches, including Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina’s Roy Williams, West Virginia’s Bob Huggins and Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim. James gave his decision during an hourlong broadcast that aired live ESPN from a Boys & Girls Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. The aim of the special program, James’ said, was also to raise at least $1 million to aid James’ foundation. What do you think of LeBron’s decision to go to Miami? Did he make the right choice? USA Today Spins Liberal Lincoln Chafee as a ‘Centrist’ and a ‘Moderate’

According to USA Today’s Susan Page, Lincoln Chafee, a Republican who left the party and voted for Barack Obama in 2008, is simply a “moderate.” A cover story for Tuesday’s edition of the paper features the misleading sub-headline: ” Centrists Fuel Big Crop of Contenders This Year. ” Nowhere in the 1800 word piece does Page describe Chafee as a liberal. Instead, Chafee, now running for governor of Rhode Island as an independent, is part of a “rebellion in the middle.” Page sympathetically described the politician’s exit from the Republican Party after losing his 2006 reelection bid: “Chafee felt rejected by the GOP, which no longer seemed willing to include moderate Republicans like himself.” Of course, Chafee’s lifetime American Conservative Union score was a meager 34. (To repeat, this was when he was a Republican.) Such a number put him to the left of Democrats such as Ben Nelson and only slightly less liberal than Robert Byrd. Yet, Page touted Chafee not as a liberal, but as a truth teller: He may be testing voters’ appetite for honesty: In his announcement speech, he suggested addressing the state’s daunting budget gap by levying a 1% sales tax on food, clothing, over-the-counter drugs and other items now exempt from the state’s 7% sales tax. In a six-way debate on WPRI-TV in June — among two Democratic candidates, two Republicans and two independents — Chafee’s tax proposal was the first question raised by moderator Tim White and the prime target of attack. “He wants to raise taxes and I want to cut spending,” Democrat Frank Caprio, the state treasurer and Chafee’s leading competitor, said after the debate when asked about his strategy. “That’s the difference between us.” Consider the facts here: The Democratic candidate is attacking Chafee for lobbying to raise taxes. Shouldn’t that be enough for Page to describe Chafee as a liberal? Later, Page returned to the concept of raising taxes as simple honesty: Chafee acknowledges that suggesting the tax hike is a calculated risk. He’s counting on voters to reward a straightforward discussion of the options ahead. If they don’t, he says, the fault will be his own failure to communicate and convince them. The USA journalist also touted other party switchers as examples of moderation: “There are more signs of centrists stirring as national politics remain sharply polarized, a factor some candidates cite for leaving or being pushed from their old allegiances.”

Francis Ford Coppola is producing, and Walter Salles (“The Motorcycle Diaries”) will direct. The film will begin shooting August 2 in Montreal. Producers have already set up an office at Cite du Cinema, the city’s largest film production facility.
