Police in the Brazilian Amazon say a college student has confessed to faking her own kidnapping as an excuse for not handing in a year-end university project. Para state’s civil police say on their website that 22-year-old Susan Paola Fadel Correia initially alleged she was abducted last week by three men, then was tied up and held for 24 hours before being released. A police statement says she acknowledged Wednesday that the story was false and that she spent the 24 hours that she was supposedly missing at the home of a friend. It quotes officer Gilvandro Furtado as saying Fadel explained that she “didn’t want to upset her mother” with news of her problems at school. Fadel has been charged with making false accusations. This chick went from having bad grades to having to spend time in jail for six months over the worst lie in human history. Talk about tanking under pressure.
George Zimmerman will be allowed to post bond for a second time as he awaits trial on a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of Miami Gardens teen Trayvon Martin , a judge ruled Thursday. In a written ruling, Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester set Zimmerman’s bond at $1 million. Lester revoked Zimmerman’s $150,000 bond last month after prosecutors said he and his wife misled them about his finances during an April bond hearing. Zimmerman and his wife, Shellie, had raised around $135,000 at the time of the April hearing, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said the couple talked in code while discussing the money in conversations recorded while Zimmerman was in jail. “They used code, they used other words other than ’9,000 dollars’ to make sure that whoever was listening wasn’t aware of what was going on,” prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda said during a bond hearing last week. “Why was that done? It was done to hide the money, so that they could deceive the court, lie to the court.” Shellie Zimmerman was arrested on a perjury charge and later bonded out of jail. Zimmerman, 28, was arrested and charged in April in the shooting of Martin, 17, on Feb. 26 in a gated community in Sanford. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and claims the shooting was self-defense. Mom Makes Kids Fight On Camera While Kids Scream For It To Stop Video posted to Facebook is causing outrage in many circles, and Missouri’s Department of Social Services may be investigating it. The images show a fist fight between two small children, with the mother of one of the kids egging them on, even offering instructions to the tiny combatants. “Got some action! Got some action!” the woman can be heard yelling as she shoots the video. “Y’all better ball up some fists!” The video was posted to Facebook on Sunday. An acquaintance of the mother in question alerted FOX 2. She asked not be identified, but spoke in an interview Tuesday. “It’s just sickening and I feel like there should be some kind of criminal action taken,” she told us. “I couldn’t even watch the whole video. What a friggin weirdo… A stranger disrobed and climbed into a woman’s hot tub with her Thursday morning, the sheriff said. The man had to be forcibly removed from the hot tub by sheriff’s deputies. Yaroslav Babenko, 37, of San Francisco was charged with criminal trespass and criminial mischief. A 47-year-old Bandon woman called the sheriff’s office before 8 a.m. Thursday to report Babenko had confronted her while she sat alone in the hot tub at her home. The man took off his clothes and climbed in the tub as the woman called 911. He remained in the tub when she asked him to leave, the sheriff said. Babenko was still sitting in the hot tub when Coos County Deputies and Bandon Police officers arrived. When he refused their instructions to get out of the tub, the officers forcibly removed him. He was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies learned Babenko was on his way home to San Francisco when he stopped at the home to use the hot tub, even though he’d never been there before. What the hell?? Source

Oh, but it doesn’t stop there… Devastated by Reid’s betrayal, Nash took to her blog, “Andiepants” to vent her frustration and warn other women of Reid’s cheating ways. The posting went up in August 2008 and about a year later Nash heard from a woman in England named Jo Ward who said she had also been wined, dined and dumped by Reid. For two hours they confronted him about his cheating ways and he admitted to deceiving them and also to being a compulsive liar. A man who hacked the email accounts of celebrities should pay movie star Scarlett Johansson $66,179.46 in compensation, federal prosecutors said. The hacker also should serve 71 months in prison and pay a total of $150,000 in compensation to all his victims, prosecutors said in court papers filed this week. Christopher Chaney, 35, of Jacksonville, Fla., who pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court to nine counts of computer hacking, for two years hacked almost daily into email accounts of 50 people in the entertainment industry. Prosecutors want Chaney to compensate some of his victims. In addition to Johansson, they are asking a judge to order him to pay $7,500 to Aguilera; $76,767.35 to Olstead, an actress best known for the TV show “The Secret Life of American Teenager,” and $10,374.59 to Aftra Health Fund. A Connecticut pediatrician is facing up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing more than 100,000 child pornography images and videos. Todd Parrilla, 48, pleaded guilty in Hartford Federal court on Monday. The sicko doc was nailed in August 2011 after cops in Kansas City downloaded more than 100 child-pornography images from a directory he managed from his home in Stonington, Conn., The Day newspaper reported. A raid on his home turned up more than 100,000 images and 10,000 videos of children and teens on his computer and hard drives. “This is a heinous crime,” said David Fein, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, according to local NBC. “That it was committed by a pediatrician, whose profession is committed to the well-being of children, makes it especially disturbing.” As part of his plea, the once-respected children’s doctor was forced to cop to his crimes during sentencing before the judge. “I downloaded and used a file-share program to receive images,” he said, according to The Day. “I exchanged images with the same program.” Prosector Raymond F. Miller took issue with Parilla’s sanitized confession. “The defendant talks about ‘images’ here,” Miller said. “We’re talking about child pornography.” Parilla will remain free until he is sentenced on October 24. Colorado Mother-Daughter Duo Indicted For Online Dating Scam A mother and daughter in Colorado were indicted for their role in a “Nigerian internet romance scam” in which associates in Nigeria posed as members of the U.S. Armed Forces and stole over $1 million from 374 victims. Tracy Vasseur, 40, and her mother, Karen Vasseur, 73, of Brighton, Colo., about 21 miles north of Denver, face a hearing on Tuesday in the Adams County District Court. The Colorado Attorney General, John Suthers, said the two were part of a scam since 2009 that “lured unsuspecting women to internet dating sites by posing as members of the U.S. military serving in Afghanistan. The Vasseurs’ 374 victims over a three year period were based throughout the United States and from 40 other countries.” The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), a government organization that refers cyber crime complaints to law enforcement agencies, says people 40 and older who are divorced, widowed, or disabled are most likely to fall prey to online dating scams. ABC News previously reported on other victims of these fraudulent Romeos, like Joan Romana from Lynbrook, N.Y. and Esther Ortiz-Rodeghero, a widow from Castle Rock, Colo. The Vasseurs were indicted of 20 counts in violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, money laundering and theft in a 27-page document filed by Suthers’ office. Tracy Vasseur faces up to 205 years in prison if convicted on all counts. Karen Vasseur faces up to 172 years in prison. “After a phony relationship was established, victims were asked to send money and were led to believe that the soldiers would use the money to retrieve property, travel to the U.S., and pay other expenses,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement. The mother-daughter duo worked with associates in Nigeria, wiring most of the stolen money to them and kept about a 10 percent cut “although they would often receive less,” the indictment stated. The Vasseurs sent stolen money addressed to 112 different names in Nigeria, but most often to “Olamigoke Ayodeji.” They also wired money to individuals in Ecuador, Great Britain, India, United Arab Emirates and the U.S. “After a relationship was established, the purported military member would begin asking the victim to send money to an ‘agent’ in Colorado,” primarily through electronic fund transfer services like Western Union or Money Gram, according to the indictment. “Among other reasons, victims were frequently told that the money they sent would pay for satellite phones, so that the victim and the perpetrator could talk directly to each other, or for travel expenses, so that the “soldier” could take authorized leave from duty to visit the victim in the U.S.” The money transferred was usually over $10,000 and as high as $59,000, according to the indictment. According to the attorney general’s office, the two recruited family members of friends to participate. Tracy Vasseur allegedly used her then 16-year-old daughter to fraudulently receive stolen money and then wire it to Nigeria as part of the scam over a year because Western Union had restricted her access, according to the indictment. The indictment stated the grand jury is aware of “one or more individuals residing in Nigeria” who were involved in the scam, “but is unable to affirmatively identify them at this time.” The Vasseurs established 20 personal and business bank accounts at 11 local banks for the purpose of laundering the stolen money.
