Selena Gomez: Out for Revenge Against Justin Bieber!

Selena Gomez has made no secret that Taylor Swift is one of her very best friends. Now, according to a new report, the artist may be taking a page from her BFF… which could mean BIG trouble for Justin Bieber. “Justin was so mean to Selena that she can’t wait to spill all the sh-t about him in her new songs,” an insider tells Hollywood Life. “All his flirting and all his bullsh-t are on the table.” Selena and Justin split right before New Year’s, after an argument in Mexico resulted in the stars flying back to Los Angeles separately. Bieber, of course, has mostly enjoyed a sterling reputation in the eyes of fans, but various recent stories have called that into question; led, of course, by the Justin Bieber smoking pot incident.” Concludes this Selena source of what the public may soon hear: “Her fans will be shocked about how much of a badass she can be when she’s out for revenge.”

Draws And All: Beyonce Talks Motherhood, New Album Collabos, And Doing Whatever The Fawk She Wants, Plus More Caked Out Pics From GQ

Beyonce Talks Motherhood And Freedom As An Artist With GQ Magazine Look-at-me-Bey is back on the scene and back to doing what she does best when working: soaking up the limelight in every way physically possible. From print, to television to social media and beyond, the King Bey takeover is coming on strong no matter how many seats people tell her to have. Keeping with that theme, Mrs. Carter recently sat down with GQ magazine to talk mother hood, “needing” her fame, and freedom to do whatever the fawk she wants. Check out a few interview excerpts below: On giving birth and needing her job: “I love my job, but it’s more than that: I need it,” she said. “Because before I gave birth, it was the only time in my life, all throughout my life, that I was lost.” On having the freedom to do what she wants: “I worked so hard during my childhood to meet this goal: By the time I was 30 years old, I could do what I want. “I’ve reached that. I feel very fortunate to be in that position. But I’ve sacrificed a lot of things, and I’ve worked harder than probably anyone I know, at least in the music industry. So I just have to remind myself that I deserve it.” On who she’s working with for her upcoming album: “I’ve been working with Pharrell and Timbaland and Justin Timberlake and Dream. We all started in the ’90s, when R&B was the most important genre, and we all kind of want that back: the feeling that music gave us.” You can visit the GQ website to read the full interview and check out the pics up close and personal when the magazine hits stands on January 22nd. Lil Twist: Bringing Down Justin Bieber?

While fans and critics continue to react to this week’s leaking of Justin Bieber pot pictures , let’s take a moment here to divert attention from this young singer… … and focus it instead of a 19-year old rapper named Lil Twist. Sources close to Bieber tell TMZ that Twist has grown extremely close to the artist, which is raising a number of red flags for Bieber’s management team. It was Twist, after all, who was driving Justin’s Ferrari earlier in the week when it was pulled over by police, an incident that indirectly led to the death of a paparazzo . Considering Twist’s Instagram profile photo depicts him smoking marijuana, and that he’s tight with controversial star Lil Wayne, many fear that the Lil one is leading Bieber down a dangerous path. Twist was allegedly in the hotel room with Bieber when the scandalous pot photos were snapped, with insiders claiming he was rolling blunts for everyone at the party. So, what do you think? Should Justin distance himself from Lil Twist? And how do you feel about Bieber smoking p ot?   It’s not big deal! It’s a very big deal, I think less of him! View Poll »

Kris Allen: Injured! Expecting a Baby!

From breaking a bone to breaking major news, it’s been a busy week for Kris Allen. The American Idol Season 8 champion was hospitalized yesterday after a car accident, as the singer’s mother Tweeted a photo of her son in traction, including with it the following caption: “From Kris: he’s in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollision.” Allen is due for surgery today, but the artist’s mind may be elsewhere. He took to Twitter himself later in the evening and added: “Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe.” Wait… what?!? Clarified Allen: “Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I’m having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy.” Hooray! We send our congratulations to Kris and we wish his arm a quick healing. It’s gonna be holding a newborn at some point in the next few months.

Les Misérables: Will The 2013 Oscars Be One Giant Sad-Off?

Earlier this week, Funny or Die tried to answer the question I hoped would never get asked this Oscar season: Who had it worse, slaves or poor, single mothers driven into prostitution? In a clever four-minute video, Samuel L. Jackson (Team Slaves) and Anne Hathaway (Team PSMDIP) campaigned for their respective sides in a “sad-off.” It’s a brilliant bit of movie promotion, with the actors selling their sad, sad movies ( Les Misérables and Django Unchained , respectively) through comedy. “My movie is literally called ‘The Miserable,’” throws down Hathaway. “Women get beaten in my movie,” boasts Jackson. “Same thing happens in mine,” Hathaway counters. “Guy gets his head blown off.” “Same.” “There’s a man ripped apart by dogs in my movie.” When Hathaway stays quiet, Jackson cackles in triumph. The two Oscar nominees eventually get into the yuletide spirit by cheerfully agreeing, “Nothing says Christmas like slaves and whores.” That’s cute and all, but it also smartly points out the paradox of the holiday movie season, that magical time of the year when, between maxing out our credit cards and stuffing our faces like it’s the Mayan apocalypse, we dutifully assign ourselves to watch “serious movies” about “important issues.” There seem to be way more of those this year, from the slavery-themed Django , the plebe-supporting Les Miz , the torture-approving Zero Dark Thirty , the dementia-sympathizing Amour , the insanity-forgiving Silver Linings Playbook , the FEMA-condemning Beasts of the Southern Wild , and the disability-sex-championing The Sessions . Looking at this group of politically weighty films, Salon film critic Andrew O’Hehir stated last week that he’s looking forward to a “meaty” 2013 Oscars because of the “ideological throwdown” promised by the likely award nominees, especially after the win of last year’s lightweight The Artist . It’s of course great that so many special-interest groups will have their issues heard throughout Oscar season. But given the fractured, us-versus-them nature of America today, it’s hard not to feel pessimistic that the run-up to the Academy Awards will turn out to be one interminable lose-lose game of Who Suffered Most? There’s certainly precedent for this. Back in 2005, the Best Picture race rapidly narrowed down to Crash and Brokeback Mountain . In a particularly ugly turn, the media narrative twisted the Oscars into a contest between racism and homophobia, as if declaring racism to be the greater injustice eased the pain felt by bullied gay teens. When Brokeback lost, some commentators exacerbated the situation by blaming the outcome on the homophobia of Academy voters, who are still mostly old, white men . (For the record, they probably just have really bad taste.) That’s why the best part of Hathaway and Jackson’s video is its preemptive mockery of the tendency to hierarchize different kinds of oppression. In a bit that recalls the 2008 Democratic primary race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the sad-off briefly veers into black man vs. woman territory. “You try being a black man in the South in the 1800s. I bet you couldn’t handle being a black in the South right now ,” taunts Jackson. “When there’s a French whore in the White House, then we can talk,” Hathaway challenges. “You say that like there’s never been a French whore in the White House,” says Jackson in the best line of the video. Let’s hope that’s the last round of sad-off we have to play this holiday season, because justice and equality doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game.
