Drake’s Baby Mama Throws Shade at Kanye West

Sophie Brussaux just cut Kanye West way down to size. With just a single sentence on Twitter. The woman best known for having given birth to Drake’s son a couple years ago has hilariously inserted herself into the ongoing rivalry between her ex-lover and his current rival. This rivalry got underway late Thursday night after West shared a request from Drake to sample the beat in the Kanye-produced 2009 track “Say What’s Real.” But Kanye was in no mood to hear from Drake, not after the artist insulted his Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers in a verse on French Montana hit track “No Stylist.” With the flood gates now open in his mind, Kanye went ahead and unleashed a rather amazing rant, even for him. He sent upwards of 80 Tweets in the direction of Drake. How did Sophie get herself involved? She saw her own opening after Ariana Grande mocked the Drake-Kanye beef by Tweeting yesterday: “Guys, I know there are grown men arguing online [right now]. “But Miley and I dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please [just] behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank [you].” It was pretty much a perfect Tweet. And then Brussaux left a nearly perfect Comment underneath, writing: I would hardly call Kanye arguing with himself ‘grown men. This is both funny and accurate. Like we said, Kanye sent about 80 (yes, 80!) Tweets on the subject Thursday evening into Friday morning, while Drake responded with… silence. Brussaux later posted a cryptic message to her Instagram Story, one we’d have to imagine was also directed at West: “Pettiness and messiness hinder your blessings. Seriously. Spread love.” At various points in his rant against Drake, Kanye accused the singer of threatening his family members. There’s no real evidence of this, but Kim Kardashian took the side of her husband around 2:30 a.m. on Friday and also Tweeted at Drake. She told him to leave her loved ones the heck alone . If Drake somehow did utter a negative or menacing word about any of Kimye’s three kids, we’re very much on their side here. But come on: Is anyone buying what this power couple is trying to sell here? Prior to deleting all of his Drake-related messages, West himself seemed to offer the rapper an olive branch, writing on his official account: “I’m up for talking. We need to show all of these fans that black men can@talk without someone ending up dead or in jail.” Yes. Sure. Absolutely. If this manufactured, one-sided argument can end with such an important message being sent, then we are all for it. Mostly, however, we mostly feel about Kanye overall and, especially in this case, the same way Drake felt about his quasi rival’s angry words last night: Yup, we agree, dude. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

When asked about the opportunity to team up with Verizon to give his fans a unique reward JT gushed: “My favorite part of being on tour is getting to see my fans up close and give them a night they won’t forget. When Verizon approached me with the opportunity to thank them by providing special access to my tour, I couldn’t pass it up.” Source: Michael McLenighan/Getty / Michael McLenighan Another artist who couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work the wireless giant is Atlanta upstart J.I.D. who tells us exclusively that his mother is coincidentally a long-time Verizon employee. The southern lyricist is set to release his new album DiCaprio 2 on November 26 and his fans’ anticipation couldn’t possible reach a more fevered pitch. BOSSIP Associate Editor Jason “Jah” Lee was fortunate enough to get some one-on-one time with J.I.D during the Atlanta customer loyalty event last night. Source: MoNae Mayweather/@photosbynae / MoNae Mayweather J.I.D is signed to Dreamville Records, a label headed by J. Cole who many would argue will soon be eclipsed by the East Atlanta native if his work ethic remains consistent and his pen remains syringe sharp. J.I.D’s introductory Dreamville release, The Never Story , captivated many an ear in 2017 and 2018 looks to be another year of grabbing listeners by the earlobe and holding them hostage to the arresting frequency of his music. J.I.D’s first two releases from DiCaprio 2, “151 Rum” and “Off Deez” featuring the aforementioned J. Cole are “attention-grabbers”, but as he explains to BOSSIP, there is much more in store. Jah : On The Never Story ‘s “Somebody” you rapped that your sound was “nothin’ particular”, however, the first two singles from DiCaprio 2 seem to have a very intentional sound. Is that what we can expect from DiCaprio 2? J.I.D : Those two songs are just attention-grabbers. I kinda did the same thing with The Never Story . I dropped the song “Never” and I dropped the song “Underwear” which came out about a week before and I dropped a song called “Bruh” with the same energy, but there’s super variations on [this] project, there’s nothing that sounds like those two songs. They’re back to back on the project, they have a section off where they belong. The project is sectioned off. There’s not one complete sound. It’s called DiCaprio 2 because it’s like a movie so each song is an individual film. Jah : Talk about your development as an artist. We know you and Earthgang (another Atlanta-based group signed to Dreamville) lived together and you weren’t always making music. J.I.D: : We were putting in hours every day. It was a competition between each other. And then we was trying to pay rent so n****s was working at Chipotle, Domino’s, cleaning up rat traps, whatever to get some money so we could pay at the end of the month to have lights and record. That’s where the development came from, just doing odd shows in Atlanta, just keeping our blinders on just like a horse in downtown New York. Jah : Speaking of competitive, Cole names you as the closest MC to his skill set on “Off Deez”. Did you know you were going to put him on the song when you first made it? If so, did you write your verse competitively to make sure you outdid him? J.I.D : I record everything by myself at the crib. I record in a secluded environment with just one other person, my composer. So I did it and I sent it to him. No, I didn’t send it to him first. I sent it to–I sent it to Kendrick [Lamar] first (laughs). Facts! That’s 100% what happened. I sent it Kendrick first. Long shot, Kendrick was going on the Championship Tour so it was just a long shot. I knew it wasn’t gonna happen and it’s understandable because he’s a superstar and has obligations. I sent it through the proper channels it just didn’t work out, but he f***ed with it. I made it the around the time of the XXL freestyle back in maybe April. I played if for Ski Mask The Slump God but he got busy and I know the situation with X (the shooting death of XXXTentacion) affected him a lot. Then I sent it to Cole like, “You f**k with this record? It’s hard, right? I’m bout to kill it and do the second verse” and he’s like “Hey, save me a lil’ piece on there” and like, “What? You wanna get on this one?” And we got s**t, but he was just moved when he heard it. I’m trying some different s**t and trying new patterns and he’s just competitive and he’s f***in’ elite at what he does so when he got on there it just made sense. @kendricklamar let’s do a song — (J.I.D) (@JIDsv) September 17, 2018 Where many artists would be intimidated by appearing on songs with peers who are at the top of their craft, J.I.D. has no fear. None. He talks with the confidence of a man who is undefeated in bar fights at his local pub. With all the humility that emotes from his serrated-yet-subdued voice he lets us know that he’s not one to be trifled with on the microphone. “If you look at my songs and the stuff I put out, I don’t think I ever went last. I do that s**t and I let n****s have it. Beat it, if you can. If I ever go last. If I ever hear a n***a verse first, its over. You gonna go back and change that. I’m not changing s**t. I do my work and I keep it moving. I respect all artists. I’m not saying there’s no one better. There’s somebody out there right now that like, n***a…I was the guy and I’m still that guy. But I’m a rap fan. I’m a hip-hop fan. I’m a music fan first before anything. I’ll walk up to anybody like “N***a, you are FIRE!” J.I.D recently credited Beyoncé with inspiring him to create the hook for “Off Deez” and we asked him about the other ways that Black women have inspired him in his life. “I got three sisters and my mom,” J.I.D says thoughtfully, “My sisters are three different type of strong, smart women. All different types of strong, all different types of smart. They showed me strength and I never noticed that. My dad taught me, you know, ‘You’re a boy. You have to do…’, but my sisters and my mom are definitely tougher than me and all my brothers.” You can tell by the manner in which he speaks about the women in his life that J.I.D has been a very grounded and empathetic person long before he became a rap star. “S**t that they been through, s**t that I’ve seen them do, they all had babies and they all figured out life. Women have a different power that’s hard to tap into as a man because we got it lil’ bit easier. The whole giving birth aspect, the whole God creating life aspect goes hand-in-hand to me. They create life and God creates life.” Source: Michael McLenighan/Getty / Michael McLenighan We highly suggest you check out J.I.D’s music and get to know him better as an artist. Hopefully, this interview will serve testament to what type of person he is. Clearly, he is as loyal to his fans as his fans are to him and Verizon Wireless. We heard that.

Christian Carino: Yes, He Really is Lady Gaga’s Fiance!

Lady Gaga continues to receive rave reviews for her role in A Star is Born. But the singer took a moment on Monday and acknowledged the special role someone else is playing in her life right now.] That is, she confirmed that she's engaged to Christian Carino. This is not a shocking piece of news to anyone who reads The Hollywood Gossip. We wrote about Gaga's plans to marry Carino back in November of 2017. However, the artist is famously private and had not said a word about this relationship until she spoke this week at Elle‘s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles. The topic of Gaga's speech was a very serious one. She opened up to the crowd about having been sexually assaulted in the past, saying on stage: “What does it really mean to be a woman in Hollywood? We are not just objects to entertain the world. We are not simply images to bring smiles or grimaces to people's faces. “We are not members of a giant beauty pageant meant to be pit against one another for the pleasure of the public. We women in Hollywood, we are voices.” Gaga added: “As a woman who lives with chronic pain, as a woman who was conditioned at a very young age to listen to what men told me to do, I decided today I wanted to take the power back. “Today I wear the pants.” Amen, right? While this message is vitally important, it's almost being overshadowed in the celebrity gossip world by the fact that Gaga also referenced talent agent Christian Carino as her “fiance” at one point. The two started dating in February of last year and, as far as we know, got engaged about nine months later. Carino was on hand to support Gaga ahead of her Super Bowl LI halftime performance in Houston in 2017, where the couple was photographed cuddling on the field. But they have mostly kept a very low profile throughout their romance. Check out the video here to listen to Gaga both name check her future husband AND say some inspiring words about victimhood.

Erica Mena, Love & Hip Hop Star, Arrested for Drug Possession

Erica Mena has been placed under arrest. The Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta cast member was taken into custody on Friday after police arrived on the scene in response to a domestic dispute. According to TMZ, Mena and her boyfriend, Clifford Dixon, were both taken away by the cops after an argument got out of hand inside their Johns Creek, Georgia apartment. Witnesses near the scene told authorities that Mena and Dixon had not only been arguing, but that the latter had kicked in a bedroom door in order to get to the former. One of Erica and Cliff’s roommates even told police that she/he heard someone get slapped upstairs, although no one actually saw any physical abuse take place. Cops did not report any signs of an altercation on either party, either. This is to say, neither Mena nor Dixon had any marks on their bodies at the time of the arrest. Dixon was arrested for criminal trespass because Mena told cops the property was in her name. Meanwhile, Erica was arrested for possession of marijuana, despite having less than one ounce of her at the time of the arrest. She has since made bail. Mena returned to Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta last season. Prior to coming on board, she was a staple on Love & Hip Hop: New York. Other professional ventures for Mena include having written the books “Chronicles of a Confirmed Bachelorette” and “Underneath It All.” In August of 2017, it was announced that Mena would compete in the first season of VH1’s Scared Famous, which premiered on October 23, 2017. Mena was previously engaged to Bow Wow and wrote the following upon leaving the New York version of this Love & Hip Hop franchise: I have fan base that now become my family! I can’t thank you all enough for following & riding this ride. You are all appreciated. No matter what I’m always going to be Open and Real with you all. This chapter has ended but the real deal is the journey has just begun. Four years ago became #MenaMonday. I let the world in and it’s been a crazy ride since. I’ve always been open about who I am & my relationships just because I know my story was meant to be told. I’ve made many mistakes and I get judge[d] harshly. Thank God I’m as tough and bold as I am because the truth is many are like me. It’s unclear whether this arrest will impact Mena’s future on VH1. We don’t mean that she’ll get fired for a little bit of weed, of course. We mean she may very well get a raise! Stay tuned to find out what transpires.

Drake: Sorry I Kept My Son a Secret! Turns Out He’s Awesome!

Drake took a break from his creepy AF friendship with Millie Bobby Brown to talk about a different child. This time, he’s talking about his previously secret son , 1-year-old Adonis. And Drake is gushing over his baby boy. Drake fathered Adonis with former adult film star and current French artist Sophie Brussaux.  Speaking ot LeBron James on LeBron’s new HBO series, The Shop , Drake could not hold back his paternal affection. “[He has] crazy blue eyes,” Drake gushed, adding: “Baby blue eyes.” They’re called baby blue for a reason — a lot of babies have blue or gray eyes as infants and then develop other colors as the age. “He’s already in the pool shooting the basketball,” Drake brags. Once he starts on the subject of his son, he can’t hold back, saying: “I’m just excited.” We could roast Drake for the layers of hubris required to have a son named “Adonis.” But honestly, what he has to say is just really heartwarming. Drake admits that he has been drawing upon “all of the things I’ve learned from and through my father” about being a good parent. “And,” Drake adds, he credits: “the incredible things I’ve learned through my mother.” He says that they have taught him so much “about patience, about unconditional love.” A 1-year-old requires a great deal of patience. It was not until June of this year that Drake confirmed that he had a secret son . He revealed this information on his album, Scorpion . Though he was thrilled to ultimately learn that he had a son, Sophie first had to get attorneys and prove paternity. “I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who,” Drake says, rephrasing to: “We’ve had our moments.” “I do want to be able to explain to my son what happened,” Drake admits. Drake wants to be honest, he says, “But I don’t have any desire for him to not love his mother.” In fact, Drake says: “I don’t ever want the world to be angry at his mother.” “We have found ourselves in a situation and we are both equally responsible.” Drake explains. That is, generally speaking, how sexual reproduction works! “Now,” he says. “I’m just really excited to be a great father.” “No matter what happens,” Drake affirms. “I have unconditional love for the mother of my child” He says that he feels that way “because I want him to love his mother and I have to project that energy.” “I didn’t come from that [peace],” Drake admits. “I came from my mother being like, ‘Your dad is this.'” “My dad would never speak ill of my mother — ever, ever, ever,” Drake says. “My mother is the nicest, kindest, sweetest woman.” “But,” he adds. “She’s a woman scorned and a woman who is exhausted.” “I was really hard on my parents for giving me sort of a childhood that I had to wrap my mind around as I grew,” Drake says. That’s totally fair. “Multiple times,” he says. “I sort of suggested that they could have done a better job at co-parenting, sticking together, not being so divided.” There is such a thing as too much unity between parents, but Drake’s not suggesting that, either. Drake even went into how difficult it was to break the news to his parents that he was becoming a father. “I think I was more scared to tell my mom,” Drake admits. “Because,” he explains. “My mom has had real relationships with women in my life over the course of my years that I’m sure she would expect or be elated if I were to have gotten one of those women pregnant.” Instead, he had a child with a woman with whom he was not in a relationship. Drake concludes: “It was tough for me to tell her that it was somebody that she never met.” View Slideshow: Sophie Brussaux: All You Need to Know About Drake’s Baby Mama

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson: Will They Get Back Together?!

Star-struck millennial heart throbs Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson made ALL the headlines with their whirlwind romance this year. They were head over heels in love, no doubt about it. But all good things, as the saying goes, must come to an end in a matter of months. Blindsiding a nation, Ariana and Pete called off their engagement this weekend and one saw it coming … okay, not the case. We all saw it coming. But does that mean it’s over for good? Or is it a break that will do them some good, and lead them to a better place? That’s the million-dollar question THG’s staff debates below. Read our hot takes on this hot couple and then hit the comments below! YES by Emily Trainham Love is real, and that is a fact. And the cool thing about facts is that even if you don’t believe personally believe in them, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Ariana and Pete love each other. And you’re dang right that’s in the present tense. Do people get engaged after just a few weeks of dating if they don’t love each other? Do people adopt pigs together if they do not love each other?!  Do people get multiple tattoos dedicated to their significant other if they don’t love each other?  OK, sure, love is not a requirement for any of these things … you can be mentally unstable and do all of them just fine. But Ariana and Pete did them out of love, and that’s just a fact. Listen to “Pete Davidson” on Ariana’s new album and try to say it’s not. They just broke up, and that’s unfortunate, but sometimes the greatest romances take some time to come together, and it’s obvious that now is not the best time for Ariana.  She still seems to be reeling from the death of Mac Miller, and it’s likely that she’s still dealing with the trauma from the Manchester bombing as well. So maybe she needs to take some time to heal. Maybe a few months, maybe a few years. Maybe she’ll date around during that time, and maybe Pete will, too. But as she sang in her song dedicated to him, he’s her soulmate. And soulmates are forever. Their time will come, but sadly, their time is not now. Keep the faith, Grandson lovers.  Love shall prevail. NO by Hilton Hater Neither Pete Davidson nor Ariana Grande were involved in THE MOST DRAMATIC ROSE CEREMONY of all-time… but their relationship has still followed the trajectory of those who get together on The Bachelor. The comedian and the artist were never dating in a traditional sense of the term. They went out. They goofed around. They got all silly on social media. They were almost, literally, a walking Saturday Night Live skit. It was all cute and fun and we’re sure quite enjoyable for Davidson and Grande, but then real life interjected: Mac Miller died of a drug overdose . Sources have all indicated that Grande (understandably) took the death of her ex-boyfriend very hard. Ariana’s been in a dark place for about a month now. Such a trauma could spell the end of many relationships, but especially one such as this; one essentially built on partying and cosplay. There’s simply no sturdy base here for anything as dramatic as a loved one’s death. Mix in the awkwardness of that loved one being Grande’s previous serious boyfriend… and here we are. Davidson may be equipped with a 10-inch long penis, but he simply isn’t equipped with the emotional maturity to deal with a tragedy of this nature. YES by Simon Delott This summer, in the wake of Ariana’s engagement to Pete Davidson , I was so confident that they would stay together. Now, I’m eating crow. I didn’t see this coming. “Sociologists at NYU used decades of statistical data from 4,500 families and found that couples in which the man was much taller than the woman were more likely to stay together,” I wrote at the time. “Folks, Ariana Grande is 5 feet tall. Pete Davidson is 6-foot-3,” I continued. “Those 15 inches could see them through to the end.” We all know that the best way to discuss love and romance is using cold hard numbers and statistical analysis. I’m not sure where I went wrong. After all, if a spur-of-the-moment relationship between a pop star with baggage and a comedian who’s never met an impulse on which he didn’t act can’t work out … what hope is there for the rest of us? In all seriousness, though, the cause of their breakup was reportedly largely Mac Miller’s tragic death earlier this fall. The passing of Ariana’s very recent ex, so soon after her return to the public eye, left her wounded. It was all too much. But that doesn’t mean that these two won’t ever get together again. They’re both still young, and it sounds like this breakup was as amicable as a dropped engagement can possibly be. My real question is this: Is Ariana going to sing the song, “Pete Davidson,” when she goes on tour in the future? There’s no non-awkward way to either sing or skip that song unless they get back together. Just saying. NO. by Tyler Johnson No. The relationship between Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson was doomed from the start. After all, how could a singer with a four-octave vocal range ever relate to a comic whose style is so painfully one-note? Let’s forget for a moment that Pete mocked the Manchester bombing that traumatized Ariana and so many of her fans. And let’s ignore, for now, the fact that Davidson said he sympathizes with the man who groped Grande or that he beamed with pride over the fact that Bill Clinton ogled Ari at a freakin’ funeral. (As a guy with a Hillary Clinton tattoo, that must have been an extremely confusing time for Pete.) What we’re focusing on today is the fact that Grande is clearly a woman who’s drawn to virtuoso talent, and despite spending the past four years in the best comedy college imaginable, Davidson (rather ironically) comes up short when his abilities are compared to Ariana’s. On a more serious note, insiders have claimed that the breakup was at least partially the result of Ariana’s grief over the death of her previous boyfriend, the immensely gifted Mac Miller. There’s been a lot of talk about Pete and Ari’s perceived insensitivity toward their exes in publicly admitting that they’d secretly longed for each other for years (in other words, since well before they were single). To be clear, both parties’ duties to their exes ended the moment they broke things off – but who wants to live in a world where we’re all just fulfilling our minimum obligations to one another? It’s not hard to see how Ariana might have wound up with some seriously conflicted feelings – as well as some major doubts – in the wake of Miller’s overdose. But in the end, out guess is that a talent gap wider than Pete and Ariana’s height difference also played a significant role in bringing this ill-fated romance to a halt. View Slideshow: Pete Davidson Answers the Giant Penis Question Once and for All And unless Pete drops his Adam Sandler impression and develops a comedic identity of his own, he’d probably be better off dating someone who doesn’t prioritize talent the way Ariana seems to.
