In a powerful and candid Instagram post this week, Taylor Swift urged citizens to take action next month and vote in the midterm elections. Not long afterwards, the singer took an action herself that she had not taken in three years: She performed on stage at an awards show. Indeed, Swift opened the 2018 American Music Awards on Tuesday night with a rendition of “I Did Something Bad,” reminding viewers everywhere that she deserves the honor she would later win at the ceremony. (Swift was named Artist of the Year and, in the process, became the most decorated female artist in American Music Awards history.) The 28-year-old pop sensation donned a sparkly long-sleeve leotard with over-the-knee leather black boots for her wildly-anticipated performance. She also brought the drama with smoke and a giant snake (!!!!!!!) – which has been her Reputation tour logo and which has been a response to being called a snake years ago by Kim Kardashian – behind her on stage. It was clear those in attendance were psyched to have Swift back in their lives. “They’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one/They got their pitchforks and proof,” Swift sings in the featured track. Having received some criticism from Republicans for not supporting any of their candidates in her aforementioned social media message, Swift did not back down at the AMAs. In her Artist of the Year acceptance speech, she didn't take any side… but she did remain political. “Thank you so much for this,” she said on stage, adding: “And I just wanted to make a mention of the fact that this award, and every single award given out tonight, were voted on by the people. And you know what else is voted on by the people? “The midterm elections on 6 November. Get out and vote – I love you guys.” And we love you, Taylor. We’re pretty sure it’s the job of any decent lawyer to file appeals for his client and/or find these precise sort of legal loopholes to reduce sentences or get verdicts thrown out entirely. “During a phone call with Mr. Cosby, the ‘Googler’ told him he found case law that allows him to stay housed in the infirmary throughout his sentence to avoid being placed in general population,” the source says. “He found a number of cases in Pennsylvania where people at Mr. Cosby’s age died due to lack of healthcare and medical attention – this prison doesn’t want to be the prison doesn’t want to go down in history as the prison Bill Cosby died in.” OJ Simpson is on record as sharing a similar concern . The disgraced star ideally wants to be moved back to his residence and to serve his time under house arrest. We have a new update on Demi Lovato. While promoting her new movie Subject 16 on Sunday, Lovato’s sister, Madison De La Garza, spoke to Millennial Hollywood host Dakota T. Jones about the state of her famous sibling, who has been in a rehab facility since late July. Right before entry, of course, Lovato nearly died from a drug overdose . “She’s working really hard on her sobriety and we’re all so incredibly proud of her,” De La Garza said of Demi, adding: “It’s been crazy for our family. It’s been a lot.” We really can’t begin to imagine. Just a couple weeks ago, however, Lovato’s mother tried to help us understand what this has all been like, opening up herself for the first time since she nearly lost her daughter. “I literally start to shake a little bit when I start to remember what happened that day,” admitted Dianna De La Garza. She added in this interview that Demi was in “bad shape” when she first saw the artist in the hospital and “we just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not.” Lovato, as fans likely know, was sober for six years. She confessed in a song this past spring that she recently fell off the wagon and begged for followers to forgive her for this mistake. Naturally, supporters then came out in loud troves and relayed their love for Lovato over all forms of social media. On the morning of July 24, however, Lovato came home after a night partying with friends and sent a text message to her drug dealer. He’s even talked openly about this exchange and arrangement . We still don’t know what substance(s) Lovato took that morning, but it’s been confirmed at this point that she was discovered unconscious in her bed several hours later by an assistant. The assistant proceeded to call 911. Demi was revived by paramedics… rushed to the hospital… and eventually moved to a treatment center. We’ve heard that this center is located in Utah, but we cannot say that for certain. Throughout this entire ordeal, we’ve been keeping Lovato in our thoughts and prayers. “We’ve been through a lot together, and every single time- I mean if you read my mom’s book, you would know – every time we go through something, we always come out on the other side a hundred times stronger than before,” Demi’s 16-year-old sister added. “So, we’ve just been so thankful for everything – for the little things.” Well said, Madison. About two weeks after her overdose, this is what Lovato wrote on Instagram: I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet. I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. In a sit down with Billboard , the artist born Dwayne Michael Carter shared some insight about his creative process and isn’t putting too much pressure on himself as it relates to Tha Carter V . As it stands, Weezy F. Baby has finally settled into his status in the game but also approaches his craft with a measured sense of carefulness. A lot is riding on his upcoming album, which is anticipated to drop this year. In the chat, Wayne dropped several thoughts, such as being inspired by his four children as he and his former business partner and father figure Bryan “Birdman” Williams engaged in a years-long legal battle while trying to patch up their longstanding connection damaged by their fallout. While he said that he and Birdman do speak, mostly about sports, he’s keeping his distance as he focuses on tightening up his album. From Billboard : Wayne and Birdman are back to talking every day, usually about the Red Sox. But Wayne is less trusting and focused on his album. “Not even just with him, but my relationships with a lot of people have become different, just because of how different I work now,” he says. “I’m submerged in everything about myself, trying to be better at who I am. It’s something where you have to cut some things off.” Four months ago, Wayne moved into this new space, with the skate park and ESPN playing on mute around the clock in the recording studio. Soon after, he injured his heel, which kept him off his board for a month and forced him into the studio full time.
