Katy Perry, Diego Luna Break Up In ‘One That Got Away’ Tease

Preview clip for Perry’s Teenage Dream ballad hints at ‘11.11.11’ release date. By Jocelyn Vena Diego Luna and Katy Perry in “The One That Got Away” music video Photo: Jive For anyone wondering who Katy Perry is pining over on her song “The One That Got Away,” it seems the video may have the answer. The songstress has enlisted Mexican movie star Diego Luna to play the male lead. In a teaser posted by the singer, Luna and Perry embrace and share longing looks and some flirty moments as a voice narrates the story. “The past is like a handful of dust,” the voice-over says. “It filters through your fingers, disappearing little by little.” Of course, it’s not all romantic: As a car zooms down a highway, a montage of the good and the bad times — there’s fighting and Luna leaving Perry behind — helps tease a bit more about Perry and Luna’s love affair. “I wish, for one day, I could go back,” the voice-over continues, “In another life, I would do things differently.” At the end of the preview, the date “11/11/11” flashes, signifying a possible release date for the video. (A rep for the singer hadn’t responded to MTV News’ request for confirmation by press time.) “I’m so pleased to select ‘The One That Got Away’ as my sixth single because this song shows a very different side of me that I haven’t shown with my past singles on this record. I think that everyone can relate to this song,” Perry has previously said about the Teenage Dream ballad. “I wrote this song about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through. It’s a bittersweet story — hopefully, the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had ‘The One’ get away.” It’s certainly an on-trend video idea to use sweeping story lines to help shape the visual elements of tracks about the ups and downs of love. Joe Jonas made a similar move for his Parisian-set clip for “Just in Love With You” and Rihanna also explored Some more serious story lines for her racy “We Found Love” clip. Justin Bieber Addresses Paternity Suit On ‘Today’

‘I know I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim,’ Bieber says. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on the “Today” show on Friday Photo: NBC As more details surface about the paternity suit filed by 20-year-old Mariah Yeater against Justin Bieber , the pop singer is addressing the allegations head on. Earlier this week, Bieber released a statement saying, “it’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims,” and tweeted , “so I’m going to ignore the rumors … and focus on what is real. An opportunity to help by doing what i love. Judge me on the music! Love y’all!” When he stopped by the “Today” show on Friday morning (November 4) to promote his latest album, Under The Mistletoe, Bieber also spoke candidly about Yeater’s claims. “I’d just like to say basically that none of those allegations are true,” he told Matt Lauer. “I know I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim.” Yeater claims she had unprotected sex with Bieber a year ago in a backstage area at one of the singer’s concerts and that her 3-month-old baby is his. According to an upcoming issue of Star magazine, “in a hand-signed affidavit, sworn under the penalty of perjury, Yeater told a California court that Bieber propositioned her on October 25 of last year, when she was 19. The pair had a sexual tryst after his concert and backstage at L.A.’s Staples Center, it’s alleged in court papers.” Bieber explained on “Today” that the logistics of her claim don’t fit with his hectic schedule. “I think it’s crazy because every night after the show, I’ve gone right from the stage right to my car,” he explained. “So it’s crazy that some people want to make up some false allegations, but to set the record straight, none of it is true. Never met the woman.” While the case is ongoing, Bieber is focusing on the positive, which includes his charity work. “Like I said before, there’s going to be good and going to be bad about this business and I want to focus on what’s real, like my fans are real, the charity work that I’m doing with this album is real and this is real,” he said speaking about all the fans that showed up at Rockefeller Plaza to catch a glimpse of the teen star. “I do it for these guys and I’m really happy to be here in New York and it’s been fun.” Related Artists Justin Bieber

Yelawolf Drops ‘Hard White’ Remix With T.I., Slaughterhouse

‘In the Shady crew first, for me, it’s not to be the best because it ain’t gonna happen,’ Wolf tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Yelawolf Photo: MTV News The Shady Records cipher at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards was one of the year’s best hip-hop moments. YelaWolf , Slaughterhouse and Eminem dropped some of the most densely packed rhymes in recent memory. Now, with his newly released remix of “Hard White,” Gadsden, Alabama’s Wolf aims to recapture some of that magic. While Em isn’t present, T.I. ., Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9,” Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden all hold it down lyrically alongside Yela. And just like the Shady Cypher, picking a standout verse on the track could be difficult. T.I. sets it off with his usual swagger as Yela picks up with a vivid story rhyme that details a high-school shooting. Crooked, Royce, Joell and Budden all follow with tightly woven verses, boasting of their rap supremacy — much like the Shady crew did in the BET cipher. “The BET cipher, yeah, we killed it,” Wolf told MTV News last week. “That was a huge day for me, going up to Detroit and having that time with me, Slaughter and Marshall [Mathers]. That’s the first we ever had that closed environment, uninterrupted by fans.” Surely, a room full of respected MCs must get competitive, but when it comes to collaborating with his crew, Yela said he’s actually humbled to be down with such talent. “In the Shady crew, first, for me it’s not to be the best because it ain’t gonna happen,” he said modestly. “You just have to be confident in what you’re doing and know that you might get ate up at any moment by any of these dudes because they’re all so ridiculous and just be honored to be a part of it.” On November 21, Yelawolf is set to drop his debut album, Radioactive. So far we know the album boasts appearances from Eminem, Kid Rock and Gangsta Boo as well as production from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and WillPower. Related Artists YelaWolf

Britney Spears And Howie D Have ‘Grown Up’ Together

Now, Brit is taking the Backstreet Boy on tour with her in South America. By Jocelyn Vena Howie D Photo: MTV News Britney Spears may be the leading lady on the Femme Fatale Tour, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to bring some guys along for the ride. Next up, Backstreet Boy Howie D is slated to hit the road with Spears, following in the footsteps of DJ Pauly D and Joe Jonas . The South American tour dates — which kick off November 20, days after Howie releases his solo album Back to Me — were an enticing offer to the pop singer. “I embraced it with open arms,” he told MTV News of the trek, which ends November 28. “She’s such a great, talented person. We’ve known each other for many, many years.” He isn’t lying: Howie and Britney grew up together in the industry, with the Backstreet Boys and Spears two of the figureheads of the late-’90s pop revival. Howie said they’re rooted in the same place, which will lend itself nicely to touring together. “We kind of came out of the same camp, out of the Orlando pop scene with us and ‘NSYNC and Britney,” he recalled. “I feel like we’ve all grown together and have very similar, parallel lives with us and our music, [with] certain moments being very, very hot, certain moments not, and just riding the wave up and down as it’s going. Even [with our] personal lives, having families, having kids. I have a huge respect for her, not only as an artist, but as a person. It’s good to be around people you’ve known and people you’ve grown up with.” So what keeps people coming back for more from the likes of Howie and Britney? He has a theory: “It’s a test of good music being out there,” he said. “We really take pride in making good records, timeless records, and being true to our craft and trying to give our fans what they want … trying to constantly take each record to the next level, push the envelope.” Do you want Howie to tour with Britney in the States? Rihanna Cancels Swedish Show Due to Exhaustion

Wednesday’s Stockholm concert called off; singer tweeted photo of herself in a hospital bed Monday, explaining she had the flu. By Gil Kaufman Rihanna Photo: James Devaney/WireImage Rihanna is going to need a bit more time to chill before she can continue her overseas tour. After canceling a show in Malmo, Sweden , on Monday due to a bout with flu-like symptoms, the singer was forced to pull out from another show Wednesday night, when again, she felt under the weather. A spokesperson for tour promoter Live Nation told the Associated Press that RiRi felt ill before her concert in Stockholm on Wednesday night, and after consulting with a doctor, decided to cancel the show an hour before she was scheduled to take the stage. Live Nation’s Kristofer Akesson said Rihanna “is exhausted and doesn’t feel well,” but did not elaborate on what ails her. Promoters have said they plan to reschedule the gigs, but have not said when they will take place. She was able to perform at the first to two scheduled shows in Stockholm on Tuesday night. On Monday, Rihanna tweeted a photo of herself in a Swedish hospital bed with an IV in her arm along with an apologetic note that read, “Sorry Malmo!!! #LOUDtour.” She later released a statement, explaining, “I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo. I was so excited to perform for you all. It would have been a great time … so much better than being sick with the flu, ugh! I’m really disappointed I couldn’t be there.” Rihanna is on the European leg of her worldwide Loud Tour , which began in the States in the summer. The tour — which has included openers J.Cole , B.o.B, Cee Lo Green and Calvin Harris — is expected to continue until the end of the year. The singer recently set another career mark when “We Found Love” became her 11th #1 hit, breaking the three-way record she shared with Stevie Wonder and Janet Jackson for 10 career #1 singles. According to Billboard, she also set a record by racking up 20 Hot 100 top-10 singles faster than any other solo artist in the chart’s history, reaching that pinnacle in six years and four months, which is five months faster than Madonna. Jadakiss Supports Irv Gotti For Def Jam President

‘He said a lot of stuff that doesn’t get said,’ Jada tells MTV News of Irv’s ‘RapFix Live’ appearance last month. By Alvin Blanco Jadakiss Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images Irv Gotti has another endorsement in his quasi-campaign to become president of Def Jam: Jadakiss thinks the producer and executive would be a good fit at the storied record label. The Yonkers rapper “loved” Gotti’s early October appearance on MTV News’ “RapFix Live,” when he insisted he was the “best man” for Def Jam’s currently vacant presidency. “It was one of the best ‘RapFix’ [interviews] ever,” Jada told MTV News. “He said a lot of stuff that doesn’t get said. He was able to [vent] without hating on the record labels or channeling any hate. … Everything he said — me being on the inside looking out and him being on the inside looking out but now on the outside looking in — I think he nailed every point. I think everything he said was excellent, and almost everything was true.” ‘Kiss is signed to Def Jam — releasing his latest album, The Last Kiss, in 2009, as well as the retail mixtape I Love You (A Dedication to My Fans) in May 2011 — on the label. The “We Gonna Make It” rapper hasn’t spoken to anyone at the label about his support for the Murder Inc. founder, but he did mention agreeing with Irv’s point that suits at any record label need to better relate to artists in order to earn their trust when it comes to making career decisions. “Def Jam and every other label, it ain’t that they’re bad record labels; it’s just sometimes they don’t understand the artists that they have,” Jada explained. “It’s hard for somebody … when you not coming where I’m from every day. … You live a whole totally different life than me, but you telling me this ain’t the record. That ain’t really what’s up, and that sometimes happens. It doesn’t always happen, but sometimes that’s what happens, and that be the conflict of interest.” When it comes to label drama, ‘Kiss has had more than his fair share. Upon entering the rap game as a member of the LOX, with Styles P and Sheek Louch, the group was signed to Bad Boy Records. But after discontent, the trio managed to leave Bad Boy and sign to Ruff Ryders via Interscope Records in 1999. ‘Kiss would release a pair of solo albums (2001’s Kiss the Game Goodbye, 2004’s Kiss of Death ) on Interscope before Jay-Z, then Def Jam’s president , inked him to Roc-A-Fella in 2007. That said, he’s learned a thing or two about navigating record-business politics. “I have a problem sometimes, but I’m always able to work it out, ’cause I understand that it’s a business first,” ‘Kiss said of any creative friction that may arise between him and Def Jam. “That word ‘business’ is very strong. You can’t take that personal. You can’t let that intertwine with your feelings, and you gotta just come to some agreeance. There’s always a way to work it out without running to the Internet or badmouthing the employees or something. For the most part, they show me love, so I just show the same love and respect back. Even if I disagree with something, if I bring it to them and we’re not able to work it out, I just try to work it out myself, opposed to flipping — unless it’s something that pissed me off to the point of no return,” he laughed. Mumford & Sons Premiere Ghostly New Song

“We’re not very good at deciding song names,” Marcus Mumford laughs about tune, which will be called “Ghosts That We Knew” or “Ghosts.” By James Montgomery Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons Photo: Gus Stewart/ Getty Images They’ve been working on the follow-up to their breakout (on both sides of the pond) Sigh No More album since early 2011 and have been road-testing new material during a recent run of U.S. summer shows . But now, finally, Mumford & Sons have given fans a proper taste of what they can expect on their upcoming album. The problem is, they can’t seem to settle on a name for the new track. Called either “Ghosts That We Knew” or, simply, “Ghosts” (“We’re not very good at deciding song names,” frontman Marcus Mumford laughed, “we’ll hash it out, we’ll have a physical fight later”), Mumford & Sons unveiled the brand-new song during a performance at Philadelphia station Radio 104.5 . Regardless of the title they settle on, there’s a pretty good chance their fanbase is going to be rather happy. Because, frankly, the song is a stunner, rolling along on a rail of acoustic guitar, banjo and accordion, while Mumford keens about a love destroyed (“You saw no fault/ No cracks in my heart/ And you kneel beside/ My hope torn apart/ But the ghosts that we knew, will flicker from view/ Will live a long life”) and the misguided hope that all can be repaired (“So give me hope in the darkness/ That I will see the light/ Because oh, it gave me such a fright/ But I will hope as long as you like/ Just promise me we’ll be all right”). There’s a hushed majesty to it all, a muted sense of despair and grace, and it finds them building on their Bluegrass roots. Shoot, Mumford even replicates the staggered “I-I-I-I” that helped propel “The Cave” to smash status both here in the States and back home in England. There’s still no official release date for the follow-up to Sigh (it is reportedly set for February), but based on “Ghosts,” that disc can’t come soon enough for Mumford’s fans. Hopefully, they’ll figure out all the song titles by then. What are you expecting from the next Mumford album? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Mumford & Sons

‘Jersey Shore’ Housemates ‘Excited’ For Season Five

Snooki, Pauly D, Deena and Vinny tease January 5 return to Seaside Heights, including Staten Island star’s (brief) exit from MTV series. By Christina Garibaldi The cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: MTV “Jersey Shore” fans, start fist-pumping! Along with resolutions and champagne, the New Year promises a whole new season of Seaside fun as the housemates are set to return to New Jersey following their European getaway in Florence, Italy. Season five of the “Shore” premieres on Thursday, January 5, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Over the summer, the roommates went straight from the cobblestone streets of Italy to the Seaside Heights boardwalk, where shooting for the fifth run of the series took place. And from the sound of things, they brought all of the drama and the fun with them. “All of us became so close,” Deena told MTV News earlier this year of their time in Italy. “So here, it really was like we were brothers and sisters. You get annoyed with each other, then you’re fine. But you’ll see, we had a lot of fun in Jersey; we had so much fun, we were home, we were comfortable.” Snooki teased of their return to Jersey, “We were back home with our friends, we got to see our family and there are parts where we got tired of each other, but overall we had an awesome time together.” “Jersey’s gonna be another good season. I’m excited about that,” Deena added. Of course, summertime at the Jersey Shore can get a bit tiring — just ask Vinny, who left the house during filming on season 5 to steal some alone time. But fear not “Jersey Shore” fans, he does return! “Sometimes people have left in the past for different reasons. Everyone has a different reason for doing it,” Vinny told us. “We do this 24 hours a day and sometimes you just reach a point where you’re like, ‘You know, I need to take a break. I wish can stay straight through, but I need to take a break.’ I got up to that point where I need to take a little break for myself and then recharge a little bit, and when I felt comfortable enough to come back, I did. And everyone trusted in my decision because usually I’m pretty grounded.” While the housemates were understanding, it was hardest on Vinny’s best friend, DJ Pauly D. “We all have our different ways to [deal] with this,” Pauly explained. “Sometimes it’s tough being on camera 24/7 and filming for such a long time. But, like, him and I get along almost like brothers at this point, he’s like my best friend. I feel like I’m his light and he’s my light, so when he left, I felt like I had to get him back because I wanted my light back. But I had to give him his space, almost like a relationship. But he had no choice — I was bringing him back anyway.” Are you excited for season five of “Jersey Shore”? Let us know in the comments! ‘X Factor’ Exclusive: Bieber Fever Hits Rehearsals

MTV News’ Jim Cantiello takes us backstage as the top 12 prepare to perform. By Jim Cantiello Justin Bieber Photo: FilmMagic MTV News’ own Jim Cantiello is exclusively covering “The X Factor” rehearsals. Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report! Bieber Fever has hit the halls of “X Factor”! On Tuesday, when Justin Bieber was performing on neighboring production “Dancing With the Stars,” all the teenage “X Factor” ladies were on a mission to meet the Biebz. It seemed like a no-brainer to orchestrate a Drew/Justin meet-up — her audition was all about how obsessed she is with him — which sparked a smidge of jealousy from the other teen contestants. One even playfully griped overdramatically, “But I’m a bigger fan than she is!” All the backstage drama was for naught: Drew didn’t get to meet Bieber after all. Also spotted Tuesday: Senior “X Factor” producers whistling and catcalling at a shirtless Derek Hough, who was rehearsing his “Dancing” results-show routine in the CBS hallways. Derek was unfazed. Inside the house, Nicole Scherzinger was sitting in on the girls’ rehearsals, even though she’s mentoring the Over 30s. Was she scoping out the competition? Where was girls’ mentor Simon? Turns out, Cowell sat in for Nicole’s category, since she was overseas performing on the U.K. “X Factor” when her singers were booked to rehearse. Simon joked backstage: “Her Over 30s were relieved to have me.” As showtime approached, the expected last-minute wardrobe tweaks were in full effect. One group was spotted getting magic tape applied to their glamorous footwear to prevent slippage. (Am I evil for hoping that they fall on live TV anyway? I love a good spill.) Two weeks into the live shows, the contestants are still getting along swimmingly. They’re so comfortable with one another that one of the girls was able to have a pretend diva fit over being jealous about one contestant’s over-the-top set piece, and everyone could laugh about it. We’ll see if the chummy vibe continues as the competition heats up, especially now that the singers’ fates are in voters’ hands. Eek! And here’s a little tidbit: Keep your eyes peeled for one of the male contestants’ arms tonight. In his (little) free time, he ran to a local tattoo parlor for new ink! Happy viewing! You can catch Jim on the “X Factor Pepsi Pre-Show,” streaming at 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com ! Related Artists Justin Bieber
