Coldplay Cover Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’

‘I can’t wait to hear it,’ Rihanna tweets of version band performed on BBC Radio 1. By Jocelyn Vena Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Rihanna Photo: Getty Images Coldplay ‘s love affair with Rihanna continued this week when the band stopped by BBC Radio 1 on Thursday. The Brits put their moody spin on “We Found Love,” the pop star’s Calvin Harris-produced track. Their version, which was performed on the radio station’s Live Lounge series, mirrors the melancholy lyrics of the song, about wanting to be with someone despite knowing that it’s all going to end anyway. Lead singer Chris Martin’s haunting vocals and the band’s acoustic rendition, using drums, piano and guitar, play up the sadness of the track. The performance was a nearly flawless interpretation of the song, minus a hiccup at the very beginning. As an alarm sounded, Martin giggled a bit delivering the first few lines. If you’re wondering what Rihanna thinks of it, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer. In the midst of putting the finishing touches on her own album, she hadn’t yet heard the Coldplay cover. “I can’t wait to watch/hear it RT @Sean_Hansen: Not a big fan of cover songs but @coldplay’s version of @rihanna’s WFL is just superb!” she responded after a fan tweeted about the song. Rihanna appears on Coldplay’s just-released album, Mylo Xyloto, on the heartbreaking track “Princess of China.” “Her bit on our record is my favorite bit. … When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music,” Martin explained to MTV News. “Because from where we’re sitting, it seems like you can try and sound any way you like nowadays. You don’t have to be in a rock box or a hip-hop box or a pop box, and I think it’s fun when you embrace that idea.” “We Found Love” is the house-heavy lead single off Rihanna’s Talk That Talk album, which drops November 21. Its video, directed by Melina Matsoukas, is in keeping with the album’s tone, according to Matsoukas herself. “I think it sets up definitely the imagery for the album and it’s in line with what they’re doing,” she told MTV News shortly after the video dropped. “So that’s good, and I’m sure there’s plenty more, hopefully. I’m not sure, but [we’ll see]. She called me after, and she loves it and I love it.” What do you think of Colplay’s “We Found Love” cover? Tell us in the comments! The singer tweeted some of the titles of the singles on the album, which is expected to drop before year’s end. “Continue requesting WET THE BED [off F.A.M.E. ] at ur radio stations. Also, the new singles from FORTUNE are being mixed!” he wrote on Twitter . “STRIP [off his Boy in Detention mixtape] is one of the singles off of FORTUNE so request at RADIO!” In addition to “Strip,” Breezy shared a few more song titles from the album. “I’m also really excited about the release of my single titled ‘BIGGEST FAN’ produced by the RUNNERS!” he said, before retweeting a message from his production team. “@chrisbrown ‘Biggest Fan’ is gonna be epic!! And wait till they hear what else we have in the vault together! Ha!” In other Brown-related news, if Team Breezy can’t wait to hear what he’s cooking up for Fortune, that’s just fine. The singer even tweeted a link to a song he penned for his pal Justin Bieber ‘s Christmas album, Under The Mistletoe . It dropped as more songs off the November 1 release are hitting the Internet, including tracks featuring Mariah Carey and Busta Rhymes . The track is a melodic R&B jam about making Christmas special for someone you love. “Be my babe this Christmas eve/ Be my holiday/ My dream/ Lay your head on me, I got you babe,” he sings on the chorus. “Kissing underneath the tree/ I don’t need no presents, girl/ You’re everything I need/ Let me give you all of me/ Together on this Christmas Eve.” If it feels like Brown is everywhere these days, that’s because he certainly is busy. He’s wrapping up his tour next week before he begins work on his next film, “Planet B-Boy,” alongside “Lost” star Josh Holloway . As the titles suggest, it’s a look inside the world of b-boys and breakdancers. Related Artists Chris Brown

Justin Bieber’s Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes Collabos Hit The Net

Teen star’s Under the Mistletoe tracks ‘All I Want for Christmas’ and ‘Little Drummer Boy’ drop in advance of album’s release. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber in his “Mistletoe” video Photo: Island/Def Jam Hey Beliebers, you can celebrate the holidays early this year! Just days before he officially releases Under the Mistletoe , Justin Bieber is gifting fans with the early release of two high-profile duets off the November 1 album. First off, his highly anticipated Mariah Carey collabo, an updated mix of her Christmas classic “All I Want for Christmas,” made its way online. The song, posted on Rap-Up.com , opens with Bieber and Carey exchanging vocal runs. Mariah’s verse, which sounds very much like the original, goes first. Then Bieber, singing in a deeper register than usual, joins in for the second verse. The sound of Carey’s original track is pretty much all there, with Bieber adding some new shine on the always-glittering holiday standard. “Mariah Carey is doing it with me! It’s incredible. So excited,” he told MTV News recently. “We wanted Mariah from the beginning, but we kind of thought it was really hard, so we didn’t really push the idea. But she’s on my label, so we reached out to some people, she got in contact with us, and Randy Jackson was actually at the studio with us, and I was like, ‘Yo, you think you can help get Mariah on the Christmas album?’ And he was like, ‘I’m actually going to see her in New York on Monday,’ and I was like ‘Yo, go do that!’ ” On Bieber’s collaboration with Busta Rhymes on the classic “Little Drummer Boy,” which was posted on Hitfix.com , the boys threw some club beats and synths over the old-school Christmas track. The song gets a bit of an edge when Bieber, a skilled drummer himself, appears as his rapper alter ego Shawty Mane . He raps lines like “Yeah, I’m on the drum/ I’m on the snare drum/ Yeah, I’m on the beat/ ‘Cause the beat goes dum/ I only spare heat ’cause I’m playing for the son/ Playing for king/ Playing for the title/ I’m surprised you didn’t hear it in the Bible,” while also singing the traditional lyrics from the song in between verses. Busta comes in halfway through the song, spitting family-friendly lines in his signature rapid-fire style. “Bieber hit me back and said let’s make it hot up in the winter,” he raps. “I said, cool/ You know I’m gonna deliver/ Let’s collaborate and make the holiday a little bigger.” “If you really think about it, it’s genius, because it’s rapping on a Christmas album … and, like, I’m rapping on it. And then it’s singing,” he explained. “It’s cool. [Busta’s] got, like, a percussive voice to him [and] the beat was so crazy. I’m actually playing drums on that song, playing the snare.” The album will also include appearances by Usher , Boyz II Men and the Band Perry, as well as a number of songs featuring Bieber all on his own, including the album’s lead single, “Mistletoe.” Related Videos MTV First: Justin Bieber Related Artists Justin Bieber Busta Rhymes Mariah Carey

Nicki Minaj Is Most-Searched Celeb Halloween Costume

Nicki ranks fourth overall on Google list, trailing only ‘Angry Birds,’ ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Playboy Bunny.’ By James Montgomery Nicki Minaj Photo: Christopher Polk/ AMA2010/ Getty Images Given that over the past year she’s rocked outfits like this — and this and this — it shouldn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Nicki Minaj is the year’s most-searched celebrity Halloween costume, according to Google. Minaj bested the likes of Charlie Sheen, Captain America, Smurfette (Katy Perry’s gonna be pissed!) and, oddly enough, Wilfred , the titular star of F/X’s oddball comedy, on the list . Overall, she ranks fourth on the list of most-searched Halloween costumes, trailing only “Angry Birds,” “Black Swan” and “Playboy Bunny.” And while we can’t help you with either of those three (though, really, how hard is it to dress up like a ballerina or a bunny?) over on the MTV Style Blog, there’s an entire post dedicated to mimicking Minaj’s looks for Halloween , including the beehived princess-of-the-future look she rocked at the 2010 VMA pre show. And though they didn’t make Google’s most-searched list, the folks over at Style have also put together Halloween how-to’s for Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Taylor Momsen. Of course, if you’re broke, you could just rock one of our costume suggestions , most of which don’t actually require a costume at all. Perhaps getting herself in the Halloween spirit, earlier this month Nicki wrapped filming on the video for Birdman’s latest single “Y.U. Mad,” in which she dresses as Lil Wayne, donning dreadlocks, a tank top and some saggy shorts to complete the look. Related Artists Nicki Minaj

Mobb Deep Up For Jay-Z Collabo, Despite Past Beef

‘It’s just hip-hop, man,’ Prodigy tells MTV News’ ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Havoc and Prodigy of Mobb Deep Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Time heals all wounds. After Jay-Z and Mobb Deep squared off lyrically in 2001, it was hard to imagine that the rap titans would ever get to a place where they would even consider a collaboration. Nothing is in the works, but after working with Roc Nation’s Jay Electronica , Mobb Deep told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway that they’d be open to the idea of working with Hov. “Tell [ Jay-Z ] to get in the studio,” Prodigy said when he and his partner Havoc appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” “He gotta come to Infamous Studios in Queens, though.” Though the two acts threw quite a few barbs at each other, most notably on Jay-Z’s “Takeover” and Mobb Deep’s “Crawlin’ ” 10 years ago, Prodigy was recently featured on a track with Hov’s signee Jay Electronica on his “Call of Duty” track. On the song’s hook, Prodigy even spits, “Put your diamonds in the sky, wave ’em side to side/ Get juxed for your shine,” a double-sided lyric that evokes the spirit of a robbery and makes a play on Jay’s diamond-shaped hand gesture that he throws up at all his shows. Mobb Deep even recorded the song at Jigga’s Roc Da Mic studios in Manhattan; they clearly harbor no ill will. After Electronica attempted to reach Prodigy on Twitter, the Queens MC got the word that the Hov prot

Hannibal Lecter Cannibalizes His Way Into MTV’s Killer Halloween

Lecter’s gentlemanly quality and intellect make him stand out over other horror movie murderers. By Kara Warner Dr. Hannibal Lecter in “Silence Of The Lambs” Photo: Orion Pictures Corporation It’s time for yet another in-depth profile in our creepy crypt of horror movie killers for MTV’s Killer Halloween , a competition in which we ask you, the best and brightest fans, to vote for the best and scariest movie murderer ever. We’ve already provided a handy guide to the gory details surrounding Freddy Krueger , Jason , Leatherface , Michael Myers , Chucky , Ghostface and Jigsaw . Now it’s time to take a look at the man the American Film Institute named the number-one villain of the last 100 years. Name : Dr. Hannibal Lecter Occupation : Psychiatrist, cannibal, serial killer Weapons : Teeth, intellect, items purchased from the Williams-Sonoma catalog Archenemy : People who annoy him, the FBI, bad taste Profile : Smart, serene and sinister, Hannibal Lecter is easily the most gentlemanly of the killers we’ve included in our survey. Created by author Thomas Harris in a series of horror novels first published in 1981, and later immortalized by Anthony Hopkins ‘ Oscar-winning portrayal in “The Silence of the Lambs,” Lecter has won millions of fans for his creep factor and cunning ways. Not to mention his way with words: “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.” — Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs” Horror movie expert Ryan Turek, Managing Editor of ShockTillYouDrop.com , told MTV News that Lecter’s main appeal is his cool exterior. “Hannibal is the gentleman’s bogeyman. A class act in a pool of ragged, obvious-looking killers,” Turek said. “He’s unassuming in physicality but absolutely lethal. He’ll outsmart you at every turn and serve you up for dinner. His terror factor lies in the fact that lurking behind his amiable face is something incredibly deranged. That pleasant British fellow? Oh, yeah, he wants to split your skull open and fry your brains on an open skillet.” Turek added that Lecter also has a certain finesse with regard to what types of individuals are to become his victims. “Hannibal eats the jerks or those who at least catch on to who he is. I can’t imagine him suppressing his cannibalistic side in a theater of people text-messaging during a movie.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Silence of the Lambs.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Jennifer Lopez Covers Glamour Women Of The Year Issue

‘American Idol’ judge is the magazine’s ‘All-Star Woman.’ By Christina Garibaldi Jennifer Lopez on the December 2011 cover of Glamour Photo: Conde Nast Jennifer Lopez has had a roller coaster ride of a year. In January, the singer took over one of the vacant judges’ seats on “American Idol,” scored a hit single with “On the Floor” off her album Love? a few months later, and saw her seven-year marriage to Marc Anthony come to an end in the summer. But it seems 2011 will end on a high note for Lopez as she’ll grace the December cover of Glamour ‘s annual Women of the Year issue. Lopez is being honored as an “All-Star Woman” for her numerous achievements this year in television, music, fashion and charity. The singer/actress/fashionista was interviewed for the magazine by another inspiring woman, actress Jane Fonda. Lopez talked candidly about what she’s learned about love and relationships over this past year. “I think I’ve finally learned the biggest lesson of all: You’ve got to love yourself first,” Lopez says. “You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with someone else. You’ve got to value yourself and know that you’re worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can’t really have a healthy relationship.” So does that mean Lopez is ready to date again? Possibly, but this time she plans to try to keep her love life out of the tabloids. “I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye,” Lopez says. “You know the media — they want to rush everything.” While Lopez’s romances often make headlines, the “American Idol” judge has been also been known to turn heads with her style. “The things I liked when I was, like, 16 and in the Bronx — jeans, cut-up T-shirts — I still like,” she admits. “But I’ve been exposed to so much now from traveling the world and seeing couture clothes,” Lopez added. “I used all of that when I created my new line for Kohl’s. My style has come from everything, from where I started to where I am today.” Lopez and 10 other lucky ladies will be honored in Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year issue, which hits newsstands November 1. Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ Co-Star Talks On-Set Chemistry

‘We were like mates,’ model Dudley O’Shaughnessy says of his connection to Rihanna. By James Montgomery Rihanna on the set of “We Found Love” Photo: Photopress Belfast/Splash News If the onscreen chemistry between Rihanna and her “We Found Love” co-star , boxer-turned-model Dudley O’Shaughnessy, seemed real, well, that’s because it was. That’s what O’Shaughnessy is saying in a new interview with London’s Evening Standard newspaper, in which he gushes about his connection with the pop star, and admits that after three days on “We Found Love” shoot, he “didn’t want it to end.” “I loved it,” he said. “Not just because it was ‘a certain person’s’ video, but just because I love being on set. “I wasn’t star-struck at all … she’s just a nice girl. It’s not like just because she’s achieved so much that she thinks her sh– don’t stink,” O’Shaughnessy continued. “She’s such a humble, down-to-earth girl and that made it even better for me because I didn’t feel intimidated or anything. We just got along. We were just like mates.” O’Shaughnessy added that, before being cast in “We Found Love,” he had given up his dreams of becoming a professional boxer and was even contemplating quitting modeling, thinking, “I’m going to have to get a normal job now. I’ll have to be a plumber or something,” but, after his agency supplied his headshots to Rihanna’s camp, she personally picked him for the video. “The director, everyone, loved him,” his agent told the Standard. “Obviously, Rihanna loved him.” Of course, O’Shaughnessy played it coy when asked about rumors that his and Rihanna’s on-set relationship carried over into their off-set lives. Asked how he handled those steamy sex scenes, the model said, “You’ve just got to get into it,” he said, adding that despite what you may read, he is still very much single. “It’s not that I’m looking [for a girlfriend],” he said. “I don’t want to say I want a girlfriend or I don’t. If it happens, it happens.” Related Artists Rihanna

‘Breaking Dawn’ ‘Blew My Mind,’ Christina Perri Says

Soundtrack artist reviews November 18 entry in the ‘Twilight’ franchise for MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Andrew Cooper/ Summit Entertainment One of the perks of being asked to contribute to a soundtrack includes seeing the flick long before anyone else. For self-proclaimed Twilighter Christina Perri, getting a first look at “Breaking Dawn- Part 1” before it opens November 18 was a pretty big deal. “When I screened the movie, it was definitely one of my favorite days ever,” she told MTV News on the set of the video for her “Breaking Dawn” track, “A Thousand Years.” “I went with all these Hollywood people, and they were there for work, and I was there for work to get inspired to write a song, but I was an
