Mississippi MC and producer will talk about their joint LP, and an exclusive T.I. interview airs on Thursday’s episode. By Jayson Rodriguez David Banner Photo: Noel Vasquez/ Getty Images David Banner is not an MC to mince words, and the Mississippi-bred rapper will have plenty to talk about when he and producer 9th Wonder appear on “RapFix Live” this Thursday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. This week, “RapFix Live” will also feature an exclusive interview with T.I. that was conducted before the No Mercy MC was sent to prison last month . Watch a preview of the interview only on “RapFix Live,” then check back later on MTVNews.com and RapFix.MTV.com for more clips from the exclusive Q&A. As for Banner and 9th, the pair are set to release their first collaborative project, Death of a Pop Star, on December 21. The LP features production from the former Little Brother star and rhymes from Banner; Ludacris and Estelle also lend their talents to the project. Earlier this summer, Banner told MTV News partnering with 9th Wonder helped him feel rejuvenated about music. “It’s like we playing basketball overseas for the USA and we win the gold,” Banner said about their upcoming project. “That’s how I’m feeling. I’m coming right off of that and going into my next album.” How did these southern hip-hop stars come together? Why didn’t Banner take on any producing duties on Death of a Pop Star ? What do the two college grads think about President Obama’s performance so far? Ask Banner and 9th Wonder yourself by sending messages via Twitter to @MTVRapFix with the hashtag #rapfixlive or upload video messages to the pair at Your.MTV.com. The duo will sit down with MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway and answer your questions. They follow past “RapFix Live” guests such as Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Swizz Beatz and Soulja Boy Tell’em. What should Sway ask Banner and 9th Wonder? Share your questions in the comments! Kanye West’s ‘Monster’ Video Preview Leaks Online

‘Ye, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross are all featured in gruesome sneak peek. By Jayson Rodriguez Kanye West (file) Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage One week after a clip of Kanye West’s “Monster” video leaked online featuring Rick Ross rapping while chomping down on a bloody piece of meat, another preview has landed on the Web, this time featuring all the principals on the track. In the clip, which first appeared on rap website HipHopConnection.com, West and company appear in some pretty gory scenes. ‘Ye raps alongside a lifeless body, spitting the words to his rhymes while trying to romance a pasty corpse. West is stationed on a satin-lined bed and sporting a dress shirt unbuttoned down to his navel. Next to him are two female bodies that appear to represent the dead. As Kanye kicks his rhymes, he makes his move on one and grabs her lifeless arm to push her to get frisky with the second body. In the last preview, Ross was seen devouring a slab of meat while dressed in a red velvet smoking jacket. In the new clip, the rapper is seen puffing on a cigar as he sits in a chair with three hanged bodies surrounding him. There’s no performance shot of the Miami MC. Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj’s spots are brief, featuring both stars rapping, Hov in a black tuxedo with dark shades and the female lyricist in a sheer black number while rhyming on all fours. The clip opens with a shot of a shadowy figure in silhouette entering a darkened hallway as the names Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross flash across the screen. A disfigured face then pops up as the driving bass thumps to begin the song. Are you looking forward to the “Monster” video? Let us know in the comments! Justin Bieber Talks About His Love Life On Barbara Walters Special

‘I was just kissing her. That’s about it,’ Bieber says of photos snapped with Jasmine Villegas in September. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber (file) Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ AMA2010/ FilmMagic In late September Justin Bieber was snapped kissing his tour opener and “Baby” co-star Jasmine Villegas . The two never confirmed a romance, but they were spotted a number of times hanging out together. So it’s no surprise that when Barbara Walters sat Bieber down for her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2010” special, airing Thursday, she asked him about the photos. “I was kissing her,” he said when asked by Walters what exactly was happening in the photos, in a preview that aired on “The View” on Wednesday (December 8). “Well, I was just, I don’t know, I was just kissing her. That’s about it.” Walters pressed the heartthrob further about the incident and asked him if he was at all surprised that the photos hit the Web. “I don’t know. I didn’t even know anyone was taking pictures,” he said. “It just kind of happened and I don’t know. It’s not really weird. Is it weird? I think every 16-year-old kisses a girl, right, so that’s not nothing out of the ordinary.” Finally, Walters wondered whether the photos meant that Bieber has one lady love in his life. “Are you dating?” she asked. Bieber responded with a no, adding, “It’s just a kiss.” Late last month, when Bieber was asked about his relationship status on the “Today” show , he was even more reluctant to give details, saying, “Um … pass. I pass.” When MTV News asked Bieber about his love life in September, just days before he was spotted with Villegas, he said he had too much on his plate already. “I mean, girlfriends are trouble at this age,” he said. “Girls are fun to hang out with but, like, having that one steady girl … we’re constantly traveling and one girl’s not gonna really [work]. You can’t really have one girl. I don’t really have any crushes at the moment. … Right now, the best thing is [that we’re] just teenagers having fun doing what we love. We’re just staying ourselves and remaining humble.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Justin Bieber Related Photos Justin Bieber And His Many Lady Friends Related Artists Justin Bieber

Young Jeezy’s Manager Denies Rapper Was Arrested

Jeezy was reportedly taken into custody in the Bahamas over the weekend. By Hillary Crosley Young Jeezy (file) Photo: Jeffrey Ufberg/ Getty Images Young Jeezy ‘s manager, Demetrius Ellerbee, has denied a report that the rapper was arrested in the Bahamas on Saturday. “It’s not true,” Ellerbee told MTV News. According to Bahamian newspaper The Tribune , Jeezy was on his way to a show in an area of the island called New Providence when he was arrested by local officials. While the reason for his arrest was not specified, the paper says the rapper wasn’t held for very long. “He was here with us a short while. He passed through the station briefly on Saturday,” said Superintendent Ashton Greenslade, an officer at the Wulff Road station. “He was booked in here and taken to CDU (Central Detective Unit).” A Tribune source surmised that the Atlanta MC was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Elsewhere, Rick Ross recently responded to what he took as a dis from Young Jeezy in The Source magazine, stemming from the pair’s beef regarding Ross’ “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast).” Following the release of the Bawse’s single, Jeezy dropped his own “B.M.F.” freestyle and the pair have been on the outs since. “It’s not like I’m in Miami and you in New York,” said Ross. “We see each other. That’s the only issue I had. It was sideways. So I made a record, ‘Summer’s Mine,’ just to [let him know], if we gonna play that sport, let’s put it on the table like men. If it was just a freestyle that the world took the wrong way, leave it alone. That’s how I took it.” Related Artists Young Jeezy

Cake Hang Out With Fans And Microphones In New York

Sacramento rockers build anticipation for new album, Showroom of Compassion, at Irving Plaza. By Sabrina Rojas Weiss Cake’s John McCrea and Xan McCurdy perform in New York on Tuesday Photo: Joey Foley/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Cake are the kind of band it’s easy to think you know well — songs like “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” and their “I Will Survive” cover still pop up regularly in ads and soundtracks — and easy to love for their blend of regular-guy sound with clever lyrics and off-beat instrumentation. But in concert, anyone who, say, owns only four of their albums, will never be mistaken for a diehard. No, the superfans know every single word of every early album deep cut. Still, when the cult faves hit Irving Plaza on Tuesday night, frontman John McCrea made sure everyone felt like they belonged. Dressed in a fedora, T-shirt, hoodie and rugged jacket, the bearded McCrea looked like a buddy you’d just invited over for a beer in your Brooklyn living room. After kicking off the show with 2001’s “Comfort Eagle” and a couple of tracks from their upcoming new album, Showroom of Compassion, the singer launched into a deadpan banter that really made it feel like he was everyone’s friend too. “We are just hanging out together, with the tree and microphones,” McCrea said, pointing to the small evergreen onstage that he later gave away to an audience member — part of an old Cake concert tradition. When one fan got a little too comfortable with the band and threw a paper airplane missive at the stage, McCrea gently reminded her, “I can’t really read long notes right now; I’m kind of playing a show.” Mixed in with several of the new Compassion songs — which stick to the trademark Cake sound of head-nodding rhythm, nasally guitar and Vince DeFiore’s brilliant trumpet solos, occasionally punctuated by McCrea on the vibraslap — were a whole lot of the favorites. The pleasantly small, sold-out venue was filled with the sound of fans singing along with the likes of “Frank Sinatra,” “Say It All” and “Friend Is a Four Letter Word.” “Congratulations to all of you singing along, you just got the equivalent of a beer from endorphins,” McCrea said after a rousing rendition of “Sheep Go to Heaven.” And they weren’t just singing with the classics. During the encore, following their cover of “War Pigs,” when the band at last performed new single “I’m So Sick of You,” McCrea began directing everyone as a choir. One side of the room was the “escapists,” who sang “I want to fly away,” while the other side was instructed to chant “I’m so sick of you, so sick of me, I don’t want to be with you.” It was an instant favorite of the happy crowd, but the show’s closer, their 1996 hit “The Distance,” was perfectly calculated to send everyone home humming and smiling. Showroom of Compassion, Cake’s first studio album in six years, is due out on January 11. Related Artists Cake

Katy Perry Says She’s Taking Russell Brand’s Name

‘When people try to get my attention, they go, ‘Mrs. Brand!’ ‘ singer tells Ellen DeGeneres. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ WireImage With nearly two months of married life under their belts, Katy Perry and Russell Brand are ready to take their relationship to the next level. No, no kids yet; but Perry will be taking Brand’s name, E! Online reports. The singer told Ellen DeGeneres all about it when she stopped by her talk show to tape an episode airing Wednesday (December 8). When asked if she would be adding a new last name to her already famous moniker, she responded, “I am, actually.” Perry says that many people have already taken it upon themselves to start calling her Mrs. Brand. “When people try to get my attention, like if I’m at an event or something like that, and they want special attention, they go, ‘Mrs. Brand!’ And I go shwoosh,” she said, turning her head. While married life is going well, it seems that Perry has some competition. “Yeah, she needs to step off my man,” Perry said of Brand’s frequent on-screen collaborator Helen Mirren. Perry added that she’s “very jealous” of Mirren, who appears in both “The Tempest” and the “Arthur” remake with her hubby. But perhaps having someone take Brand off her hands every once in a while isn’t a bad idea given that she says her funnyman spouse is “a handful.” “Actually I kind of don’t mind that someone else takes some of the responsibility because it’s a lot of work,” she said. “But handfuls are also a lot of fun. There’s never a dull moment.” Related Photos Lovebirds: Katy Perry And Russell Brand Related Artists Katy Perry

Elizabeth Edwards Dies At 61

Wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards and best-selling author loses six-year battle with cancer. By Eric Ditzian Elizabeth Edwards Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards, died at her home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, after a six-year fight with cancer, according to multiple reports. A best-selling author and a driving force behind her husband’s political career, Mrs. Edwards discovered she had breast cancer on Election Day in 2004, when Senator John Kerry and Mr. Edwards, his running mate, lost to President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. She underwent extensive radiation and chemotherapy, sending her cancer into temporary remission, an ordeal she detailed in her 2006 memoir, “Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers.” Using his wife’s cancer as a driving force (the disease returned in 2007), heath care reform became a central platform for Mr. Edwards’ second presidential bid. But shortly after his defeat in the Democratic primaries, Mr. Edwards admitted that he had carried on an extramarital affair with a campaign worker, though he insisted the relationship took place during his wife’s remission. “Although John believes he should stand alone and take the consequences of his action now, when the door closes behind him, he has his family waiting for him,” Mrs. Edwards said in a statement at the time. She’d go on to address the affair in a second memoir, “Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life’s Adversities.” Mr. Edwards would later admit he fathered a child with the campaign worker, Rielle Hunter, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwards became legally separated in January. A graduate of the University of North Carolina Law School, Mrs. Edwards practiced law for many years and raised two children with her husband. In 1996, her 16-year-old son was killed in a car accident, a tragedy that spurred Mr. Edwards’ decision to run for the Senate in 1998. When Mrs. Edwards’ cancer returned in 2004, it was said to be malignant, to have spread to her bones, lungs and lymph nodes, and to be treatable but not curable. Just days ago, the Edwards family announced that the cancer had spread to her liver and that she had stopped all treatment. She was released from the hospital and returned home, where her family, including her husband, was said to be by her side. Share your thoughts for the Edwards family in the comments.

Hayley Williams Talks ‘Glee’ Set Visit, Hypes Cory Monteith’s Band

‘When Cory invited us to come and see the set I was stoked,’ Paramore frontwoman tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Paramore’s Hayley Williams Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images On Monday, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams visited — and apparently got lost on — the set of “Glee.” We know this because Williams tweeted about it, which led us to wonder one thing: Why was she there? After all, it’s no secret that both the band and the show have mutual admiration , so it was entirely possible that Paramore were filming a cameo on the show. Of course, given the friendship between Williams and “Glee” star Cory Monteith, it was equally as possible that the two were just hanging out. So we decided to get to the bottom of the matter. We e-mailed a rep for Paramore’s labels, Atlantic/ Fueled by Ramen, and asked if Williams would be willing to talk about visiting the show. Turns out, she was — and though it might bum out fans of the band (or “Glee”) to hear it, it seems her visit had nothing to do with business. ” ‘Glee’ is an important show to me ’cause it’s keeping music on television. It’s even encouraging schools to not ditch their music programs,” Williams wrote in an e-mail. “A few of the cast members had reached out to me over Twitter a while back. They all seemed really cool and down to earth, so when Cory invited us to come and see the set I was stoked. We don’t do a whole lot of TV appearances and their world is a lot different than what we’re used to. I just had a good time seeing everyone in their element.” In a follow up e-mail, the label rep clarified that Paramore were not filming a cameo for the show, but that didn’t mean that, while she was on set, Williams didn’t take the opportunity to talk a little business with Monteith. Turns out, he’s just joined a band, and Williams is stoked. “I also found out that Cory is a drummer! All this time I thought he was a singer,” she wrote. “Apparently he’s in a band that’s just starting up so keep your eyes and ears open!” What do you think about Hayley’s love for “Glee”? The Damned Things Aim To Bring ’20-Foot Zombie George Washington’ On Tour

Hard-rocking supergroup features members of Fall Out Boy, Anthrax and Every Time I Die. By James Montgomery Scott Ian and Joe Trohman of The Damned Things Photo: MTV News Nearly three years ago, Joe Trohman and Scott Ian met up, drank a fair amount and started talking about — of all things — their mutual love for Thin Lizzy. That initial conversation was the de facto beginning of the Damned Things, their heavy-riffing, hard-strutting new band. Of course, back then, both men were still busy with their day jobs — Trohman as the guitarist of Fall Out Boy and Ian as the epicenter of thrash legends Anthrax — so rather than pursuing the idea of forming a group together, they simply recorded a demo and kept the project under wraps, referring to it only with a super-secret (and sorta-awesome) code name: Methuselah. As you probably know by now, in the time since those initial sessions, things have changed , which means that, as 2010 comes to a close, Trohman and Ian now have a full band (joined by FOB drummer Andy Hurley, Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano and Every Time I Die yowler Keith Buckley) and a brand-new album, Ironiclast, due next week. About the only thing that’s changed is the name of the project. Seems no matter how rad of a handle it might have been, Methuselah just wasn’t going to cut it. “It was a really a good name; we couldn’t use it for legality’s sake,” Trohman laughed. “There’d probably be some guy in a Florida trailer park that was like, ‘I was in Methuselah in the ’60s, and check out this band with these current dudes that I think are rich. That’s my money!’ ” “There were a few bands called Methuselah,” Ian added. “But nobody actually had it trademarked, so we could’ve used it, but the second we would’ve done anything, our lawyer was like, ‘Expect to be sued,’ so we didn’t want to start this with a lawsuit.” So instead, they settled on the Damned Things — “Keith thought of it, because he’s a words guy,” Trohman joked — and got to work, reshaping their older material into a lean, mean batch of songs that somehow manages to incorporate the best elements of each member’s other> bands (the speedy riffs of Slayer, the hooks of FOB and the growl of ETID) while still remaining, at its core, a very retro-leaning record, with the blue-collar heart of Thin Lizzy and the majestic fretwork of Led Zeppelin being two obvious touchstones. And, somewhat surprisingly — given, you know, the whole Fall Out Boy connection — they’ve managed to win over even the most die-hard of hard-rock fans. For the most part. “It’s gratifying. I love the band and love the record, and everybody else in the band loves the band and loves the record, and that’s, first and foremost, the most important thing to me,” Trohman said. “And we all have made music in the past partly for ourselves and partly for other people, so it’s nice to see people digging it whether they want to or not. … I’m actually happy to see that there’s people that really, really like it, or don’t like it, because of the fact that we’re able to invoke some sort of strong feeling. It’s a good thing, I think.” And despite the varying nature of their respective groups, Trohman and Ian say the Damned Things remain, for the foreseeable future at least, their main focus. That’s sort of the whole point of the thing, really. “We’ve got tours lined up to the summer at this point — actually, options and opportunities to do stuff worldwide all the way through October. And that’s obviously what we’re hoping for. We were hoping we’d make a record that would stand on its own and not be about, like, ‘Well, let’s just book this band because it’s these guys from this band and these guys from this band,’ ” Ian said. “It’s really been about the record. The record’s been the driving force. If anything, with the success of [first single] ‘[We’ve Got a] Situation [Here]’ on the radio, it’s been more about that than even who’s in the band anymore, and that’s kind of what we’ve been hoping for, and that’s why we get to go on tour, and that’s why we’ll keep playing shows. … Really, when it comes down to it, nobody really cares who’s in the band if you make a crappy record.” And to that end, they’re already lining up plans for their upcoming shows (including a two-month run on the J
