The LP — which has already sold 500,000 copies internationally — features 10 tracks, including a Passion Pit collabo. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lady Gaga in “Telephone” Photo: Interscope Lady Gaga’s fans in the U.S. will finally be able to pick up the pop star’s collection of revamped hits, Lady Gaga — The Remix when the album hits stores Stateside on August 3. The album — which features reworked hits from production stars such as Madonna collaborator Stuart Price and artists like dance-pop band Passion Pit — has already sold more than 500,000 units internationally. The album features 10 tracks from Gaga’s albums The Fame and The Fame Monster. Gaga’s Little Monsters can bump remixed versions of hits like “Alejandro,” “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance,” “LoveGame,” “Paparazzi,” “Poker Face” and “Telephone.” Lady Gaga — The Remix should allow fans to experience the ubiquitous singer’s major hits in a new way. The album should tide over Gaga’s fans until the pop star unleashes her follow-up to The Fame Monster. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel: The star recently revealed that she has finished recording her next album . “I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now,” Gaga told Rolling Stone. “It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day.” Will you pick up Gaga’s remix album when hits the States? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Lady Gaga

Ke$ha Dons Fur Coat, Poses On Motorcycle For ‘Take It Off’ Video

Pop star vamps it up for her latest clip from Animal. By Jocelyn Vena Ke$ha on the set of her music video “Take It Off” Photo: RCA She angered fictional parents in her “Tik Tok” video , pranced around with the boys of 3OH!3 in her “Blah Blah Blah” clip and frolicked with a bearded boyfriend in an animated desert for her “Your Love Is My Drug” video . It might seem like Ke$ha had already done it all, but she ups the ante again in her latest clip. In photos from the singer’s “Take It Off” video set, she’s seen wearing really, really short shorts, a white fur coat and even rocking super-high platforms while posing on a motorcycle. And Ke$ha even returns to the desert, joined by a number of dancers in the sand. For the video, it looks like Ke$ha ditched her signature waves for straightened locks, a look that is more polished than we’re used to seeing from the party-girl pop star. But, of course, Ke$ha is keeping it dirrrty by including some face paint and covering herself in the aforementioned sand. “Take It Off” is the latest single from Ke$ha’s highly infectious Animal debut, released earlier this year. In the past, Ke$ha has said that the album is a perfect representation of who she was as a person while she was recording it with super-producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke. “I’m excited about it, because it kind of accurately documents my life over the past four years,” explained Ke$ha, who is currently on the road with Rihanna . “And I think any girl, and hopefully guys too, can relate to the record. I talk about pretty much anything — you name it. … I think that throughout the album, what I’m really proud of — I think every song you can tell it’s me. It’s all really honest — almost to a fault — and really genuine.” What do you think of the latest looks from Ke$ha’s new video? Tell us in the comments! Taio Cruz Teases ‘Massive Fireworks’ In ‘Dynamite’ Video

Set visit with the ‘Break Your Heart’ singer also reveals tricked-out bikes, hot models in mechanic outfits and more. By Akshay Bhansali Taio Cruz in his “Dynamite” video Photo: Matt Elias/ MTV News Shifting modes of transportation from sports car to speedboat to race-ready motorcycle, British dance/pop singer Taio Cruz plans to take fans along to a fiery junkyard fete with the new video for his hit single “Dynamite.” For those unfamiliar with Cruz’s video persuasions, he tends to go for two things in particular: scantily clad hotties in party mode and some form of adrenaline-boosting vehicle. So when MTV News recently caught up with him on the Sun Valley, California, set for “Dynamite,” we weren’t too surprised to find dozens of models outfitted in mechanic uniforms. The ride-loving pop star also found it appropriate to conduct our interview perched on his 1000cc-speed bike. “I’ve done race cars and speedboats. For this one, I wanted to do things on a bike,” Cruz explained. “So you’re gonna see me spin the tires on this, which is pretty cool!” “Dynamite” currently stands at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, just two spots shy of his debut U.S. single, “Beak Your Heart,” which topped the chart earlier this year and has spent more than four months in the rankings. For the “Dynamite” visual, fans will be pleased to see Cruz has taken his set-piece game to a whole new level. “I’ve never done a video that has this many props in it,” Cruz said. “We’ve got the most amazing, wrecked cars. There’s even a massive truck that was used in the movie ‘Universal Soldier.’ ” Could a video for a song named after explosive pyrotechnics be filmed without actually featuring some? Sure, but that wouldn’t be any fun. “The song ‘Dynamite’ itself is about when you go to the club and when you go to a party and when your just going out … you got to feel like, ‘I’m just gonna explode,’ ” Cruz explained. “Basically, we are going to represent that with just massive, massive, fireworks in the sky!” What did you think of the behind-the-scenes clip for “Dynamite”? Big Boi Says Scott Storch Collabo Happened ‘By Chance’

‘I was just like, ‘Boy, give it to me,’ ‘ Big recalls of hearing producer’s funky ‘Shutterbugg’ for the first time. By Jayson Rodriguez Big Boi Photo: MTV News Big Boi’s “Shutterbugg” not only proved to be the breakout single the Atlanta MC needed to get his long-delayed Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty a release date, but the slinky number also gives Scott Storch his first legitimate hit in nearly four years. The Grammy-winning producer once provided artists with chart-toppers on a regular basis, but a string of troubles sidelined him in recent years. The Outkast rapper, however, told MTV News he wasn’t aware of Storch’s personal problems. A friend, Big Boi said, simply relayed a message from the producer saying he had a record for him. “I was finishing the song ‘Sumethin’s Gotta Give,’ with Mary J. Blige. We was at Lenny Kravitz’s studio, and my homeboy, who manages Yelawolf right now, was like, ‘Scott Storch is looking for you. He said he got a beat he been sitting on for two years that got your name written all over it,’ ” Big Boi recalled. “We finished the song with Mary, [Storch] came and picked us up — drop-top Phantom — drove us to his house, went in his house, went in his studio. “This man played a song at the loudest volume I heard a song played in my life,” Big laughed. “The first song he played was “Shutterbugg.” Man, it came on, I was just like, ‘Boy, give it to me.’ Took the beat, went to Atlanta, brought my band in, keyboard and guitar players, we laid a couple layers of funk on top of it. [Producer] Bosko came in and put the ‘talkbox’ on it, made it all the way funky.” Critics have singled out the track as a favorite and showered praise on the veteran lyricist’s proper solo debut. And the “Shutterbugg” video is as colorful as the track, with an array of images bursting through the clip. And although Big Boi tapping Storch for “Shutterbugg” has helped the Miami producer continue his comeback, for the rapper, it was just a matter of good timing. “Certain things happen by chance,” Big said. “I didn’t plan on working with Scott Storch, but it happened and he was jamming.” Do you think Big Boi and Scott Storch should work on more material together? Where Will LeBron James Go? Silversun Pickups Drummer Has The Answer

‘It looks like he’s on his way to Miami, and who can blame him?’ Christopher Guanlao tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Lebron James Photo: Kelly Kline/ Getty Images Christopher Guanlao was “born and raised as a Lakers fan,” which means that, when he’s not playing drums for rock-radio mainstays Silversun Pickups , he’s also following the NBA pretty heavily. “A few weeks ago, we were playing a show in Orlando, and it was during Game 6 of the [NBA] Finals, and, as a Lakers fan, it was really frustrating, because I was only able to watch the first quarter,” Guanlao told MTV News on Thursday (July 8). “So I had my drum tech give me updates on the score in between songs. It was pretty intense, but luckily, the Lakers ended up winning.” And so, with the entire NBA seemingly focused on the future of superstar free-agent LeBron James — who will announce his choice of team Thursday night during an hour-long special on ESPN — we figured Guanlao was a pretty good guy to converse with about just where King James will end up. “It looks like he’s on his way to Miami, and who can blame him? If Miami’s willing to pay him, and [Chris] Bosh and [Dwyane] Wade are already there, it seems like a no-brainer,” Guanlao said. “For a while, I was thinking he might team up with [newly signed forward Carlos] Boozer in Chicago, but now I don’t know. And I think Cleveland might be out, because it seems like all the major free agents are gone. They haven’t made any big moves.” So, like much of the media, Guanlao predicts that James will break the hearts of Cleveland Cavaliers fans and bolt for the sunny climes of Miami. And even though he’s currently in London with the Pickups, he’s already making plans to watch James’ announcement — time zones be damned. “I’ve already discussed with some people that I have to watch it. And, it’s sort of amazing, because people are talking about it here. It’s basically just World Cup and ‘Where will LeBron sign?’ ” he laughed. “So, yeah, he’s making headlines all over the world. And I have to watch what happens.” And though, deep down, Guanlao wishes James would have re-signed with the Cavs (or even helped revive the fortunes of once-proud franchises like the Bulls and New York Knicks), he’s resigned himself to the fact that, next season, LBJ will more than likely be calling Miami home. And, as a Lakers fan, he’s already readying himself for the inevitable showdown between the two teams in the NBA Finals. Sort of. “I mean, with LeBron, Bosh and Wade, they’re probably the de facto Eastern Conference champs, but you’ve gotta play the games. There’s been plenty of these so-called ‘dream teams’ before, but they don’t always get over the hump,” he said. “So I’m sort of thinking [the Lakers] will play Miami in the Finals, but who knows? And even if they do, there’s no way it tops Lakers/Celtics. I mean, during Game 7 [of the Finals], I nearly had a heart attack.” Where do you want LeBron to end up? Let us know in the comments! Lil Wayne Is ‘Much Funnier’ After Detoxing In Jail, Fat Joe Says

Joe says he spent four hours visiting Wayne at Rikers, ‘just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor.’ By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Shaheem Reid Fat Joe Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne has been in prison for approximately four months now, after being sentenced by a Manhattan judge to one year behind bars for attempted gun possession. But his actual prison term is 10 months, not a calendar year, and if he stays out of trouble (and has no more infractions for possessing an iPod), the Cash Money recording artist could be released from jail as early as November. In the meantime, Wayne has kept busy, blogging on his fan appreciate website, recording a verse for Drake’s “Light Up” and accepting visitors like Diddy . Fat Joe recently ventured to see Wayne in Rikers Island. The Bronx-bred rapper described his frequent collaborator as being in “great spirits” and said he’s operating well while detoxing from the codeine-laced drinks he so often raps about. “Lil Wayne, it’s such a shame,” Joe told MTV News. “He’s in great spirits. I love Lil Wayne; that’s like my little brother. He’s just the coolest dude on Earth. I tell you one thing, him not being high made me realize how much funnier he is. This guy has jokes. We were up in there for four hours, just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor. “He’s a beautiful dude,” Joe continued. “He did what he did. He had a gun on him, but people don’t really know how much of a great father that he is, great of a person he is, a friend, a loyal dude. He’s charismatic. It’s just sad to see him over there like that, but I’m pretty sure he learned his lesson, and he’s gonna be focused.” Once Wayne is released from jail in New York, the rapper will begin serving three years of probation, stemming from a 2008 arrest in Arizona , when authorities discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm aboard the rapper’s tour bus. James Van Der Beek Recalls His Car’s ‘Slow Death’ On ‘When I Was 17’

‘The car was basically a prophylactic on wheels,’ he laughs on this week’s episode. By Jocelyn Vena James Van Der Beek Photo: MTV News Getting a car when you’re a teenager is a pretty common rite of passage. And when James Van Der Beek was 17, his car certainly had him standing out from the crowd — thanks to its very poor condition. “With the money I had made doing theater, I purchased, for $800, a 1986, candy-apple-red Hyundai Excel,” the former “Dawson’s Creek” star recalls on this week’s episode of “When I Was 17,” which also features “Jersey Shore” star Snooki and N.E.R.D. frontman Pharrell Williams. Van Der Beek added that the car had “lots of miles on it.” In the beat-up car, Van Der Beek definitely wasn’t earning any points with the ladies. “The car was basically a prophylactic on wheels,” he laughed. “We called it the stud mobile, because to ever get any action in that car, you had to have game like nobody’s business.” While the car had quite a few flaws, one of its negatives turned into a positive. “It had its own anti-theft device, which was that in order to start it, you had to pump the gas vigorously and do that at least three times,” he explained. “When I would turn corners, I would put my foot on the clutch, and if I didn’t rev the gas … it would stall.” Eventually, Van Der Beek had to say goodbye to his beloved Excel. “The car died a slow death,” he said. “And then, at one point, it got loud [and died].” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Van Der Beek, Snooki and Pharrell Williams — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Mystikal Says He’s Recruited Lil Wayne, Pharrell For New LP

‘I kissed the floor and hugged the mic and held it so gently to me,’ the Cajun MC says of first post-prison recording session. By Shaheem Reid Mystikal Photo: MTV News Mystikal is back home in Louisiana and the energetic MC says he’s more excited than ever. “Finally. Six years, that ain’t no walk in the park,” Mystikal told us over the weekend. “I had a lot of time to do a lot of growing, reflecting and thinking and stuff like that,” he said, talking about the six-year sentence he served on a sexual battery and extortion charge. But since his release from prison at the top of the year, Mystikal has wasted no time getting his career back on track. He added to his busy schedule over the Fourth of July weekend with a performance at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. “To participate in an event like this is awesome,” he said. Mystikal also recently jumped on Lloyd’s “Set Me Free,” performed for his hometown at the Zulu Ball and in front of millions at the “VH1 Hip-Hop Honors,” dedicated this year to the Dirty South. And he says he’s recorded an album’s worth of material. “Everything is lined up for me, it’s amazing. I didn’t throw pity parties for myself [while in prison]. I knew I was too blessed to be stressed and I knew I was gonna get through it. I’m still on Jive. I still have an obligation to fulfill with them guys,” he said of his record label. “We gonna do it in a major way.” One of the collaborators on Mystikal’s upcoming LP is Pharrell Williams, who with partner Chad Hugo scored the Cajun veteran’s hit “Shake Ya Ass” a decade ago — in the process elevating the Virginia duo’s career to legendary heights. “I just talked to him the other day,” Mystikal said of Pharell. “He says he got an armored-tank beat for me. I can’t wait to hear what that sounds like.” Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes have already recorded features and the Nola MC is also going to get in the lab with Mannie Fresh. Mys says once he fully launches his comeback, “a lot of rappers are gonna have to go back to the drawing board.” “It wasn’t no big writing sanctuary, but I was able to put some stuff together,” he said about his time away. “I feel like I’m doing more writing now than I did there. Y’all about to be real proud.” As for his versatile flow, Mystikal insisted he didn’t have to worry about finding it again. “I ain’t never lose it,” he smiled. “I was rapping in that place. I was doing benefit concerts for American Cancer Society and MDA [Muscular Dystrophy Association].” Once released, the Southern MC behind hits such as “Danger” and “The Man Right Chea” said he was humbled. “I kissed the floor and hugged the mic and held it so gently to me,” he recalled of getting in the studio for the first time in more than half a decade. “That was with KLC from Beats by the Pound who was on No Limit with me. He was the guy I learned how to record demos with way back when I was just starting in this game. It was a wonderful feeling.” Who else would you like to hear Mystikal collaborate with? American Idols Live! Tour Dates Canceled

Eight dates have been axed from the summer tour featuring season-nine ‘Idol’ contestants. By Mawuse Ziegbe Katie Stevens, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Aaron Kelly on the American Idols Live! Tour Photo: Mark Cunningham/ WireImage Several dates have been slashed from the American Idols Live! Tour, which kicked off just before the Fourth of July weekend with a stop in Michigan on Friday. As the season-nine contestants continue to make their way across the country, an updated tour schedule posted on the “American Idol” website shows that eight dates have been canceled. The revised concert schedule also reflects an earlier finale for the tour, wrapping now on August 31 in Indianapolis instead of on September 16 in Portland, Maine , as previously planned. Shows in cities including Buffalo, New York; Portland, Oregon; Kansas City, Missouri; and Cleveland have all been nixed. Canadian stops in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Toronto have also been cut. The tour, featuring finalists from the ninth season of the amateur talent juggernaut, highlights “Idol” champ Lee DeWyze and runner-up (and fan fave) Crystal Bowersox. A spokesperson for Live Nation confirmed the cancellations to The Associated Press but declined to explain the reason for the schedule revamp. The axed American Idols Live! Tour dates follow a rash of canceled shows by several major musical acts scheduled to hit the road this summer. The once-popular, female-fronted Lilith Fair was recently forced to scale back , cutting 10 tour dates because of poor ticket sales. Christina Aguilera postponed her tour until 2011 due to scheduling issues, as did U2, who pushed back their 360 Tour while lead singer Bono recovers from surgery. Although no official reason has been given for the new tour schedule, interest in “American Idol” appears to be on the wane. Twenty-four million viewers tuned in to see DeWyze get crowned as the season-nine victor, but that tally marked the lowest finale rating since the final episode of the show’s 2002 debut season. In addition, DeWyze and Bowersox’s post-“Idol” offerings have seen slow sales; the season-nine singers have fared significantly worse on the charts than the season-eight breakout stars, winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert. Are you planning to see the American Idols Live! Tour? Or have you lost interest since season nine? Let us know in the comments.
