‘Dancing With The Stars’ Latin Heartthrob William Levy Leads The Pack

Levy earned a perfect score on Monday night’s show; two contestants will be eliminated tonight. By Kelley L. Carter Cheryl Burke and William Levy Photo: ABC Tuesday night’s (May 8) telecast of “Dancing With the Stars” will eliminate two celebrities, so the heat was on during Monday night’s performances. And for the most part, the dancers delivered. The remaining six couples did their requisite ballroom dance and then had to come back and dance in groups of three for the second dance, which also was scored. At the top of the list was Latin soap star and heartthrob William Levy and his partner Cheryl Burke, who earned an impressive perfect score for their foxtrot. The judges thought the pair was sexy and the epitome of perfection. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba told them that their performance was “like a superhot, sexy Pink Panther.” Hard-to-please head judge Len Goodman told Levy, “There was care in technique and flare in the movement!” They scored 30/30, which was added to their second dance’s score for a grand total of 57/60. Here’s how the others fared: Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower The young Disney star danced the foxtrot, and unlike in previous weeks, the judges were thoroughly impressed — and it showed in how they scored the youngest couple in the competition. Bruno Tonioli told Fegan that watching him dance was like watching a young Mickey Rooney. He added that they were like “the sweetest of sweethearts. What you’ve done in a week is incredible.” 29/30 plus the second dance score: 56/60. Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd The NFL star tangoed with his pro partner, and the judges loved how he aggressively attacked the performance. Inaba said that she wanted a bit more dramatic flair but ultimately thought that Driver was “in the zone!” 27/30 for a total of 55/60. Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas The opera singer danced the Viennese waltz, and the former judges’ favorite didn’t impress them all that much this week. Still, they applauded her for her lines, while noting her mess-ups. Inaba told her, “You lost your balance. You weren’t on your footing.” 26/30 for a total of 55/60. Maria Menounos and Derek Hough The TV host danced the Viennese waltz, and the judges praised her so much that she was driven to tears. In particular, Tonioli’s comment that the performance was “heavenly fluidity” made her cry. Between wiping away tears, Menounos said, “I love this dance and I love the music. And I love dancing with him, ” referring to Hough. 28/30 for a total of 53/60. Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy The actress did the foxtrot, and the judges said that her spotty footwork was worth noting. Still, Tonioli thought she kept it together more so than she has for any other performance this season. 27/30 for a total of 51/60. Following tonight’s double elimination, only four couples will be left to compete on the show next week.

Dianna Agron Promises ‘Surprising Moments’ At ‘Glee’ Prom

‘This prom is very different from last year’s,’ actress tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Dianna Agron Photo: MTV News “Glee” is gearing up for the senior prom. In the highly anticipated episode, the McKinley High School seniors will be dressing to the nines to celebrate the milestone night on Tuesday’s (May 8) episode. With only three episodes left until the big season finale, this will surely be a night to remember before the seniors put on those caps and gowns for graduation. No prom would be complete without a theme, and that’s where Heather Morris’ character Brittany came in. She picked the very unique theme of dinosaurs, making this not a regular prom but a “prom-asaurus.” “Glee” star Dianna Agron stopped by MTV News last month and gave us a sneak peek at what fans can expect from the big bash. “We had Eric Stoltz back with us, who directed last year’s — he’s really fun and really knows teenage life. That prom episode last year really felt like ‘Pretty in Pink’ and ‘Sixteen Candles’ — it had that awesome touch to it,” Agron said. “This prom is very different from last year’s. It wasn’t some of our last year, and there wasn’t really that thought process like that this might be one of the last moments together, so that’s all really incorporated in this year’s. There’s a fun theme to it; there’s some really surprising moments. I think people will like it.” Even though there is a dinosaur theme, unfortunately no one will actually be playing that part, even though Agron said she “wishes” she could have. However, the actress is just excited to re-create prom night, which she admits was very different from her own prom experience. “We went with all of our friends, so it wasn’t really so much of ‘let’s have a romantic date.’ There were about 25 of us who just said, ‘OK pick somebody,’ ” Agron revealed. “And we all went in a bus and we all had dinner before. It was just really fun and a lot of dancing.” Another thing that will be different at the “Glee” prom, of course, is the music. The cast will appropriately be taking on Ke$ha ‘s “Dinosaur.” Lea Michele will be tackling Fergie ‘s “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and the New Directions will be taking on One Direction with their cover of “What Makes You Beautiful.” “We met them when we were on ‘X Factor,’ like a year and a half ago in London,” Agron said of meeting the boy band. “They were so sweet, so cute. They were very cheeky, and now I’ve heard two of their songs, very catchy.” Are you excited for the prom episode of “Glee”? Let us know in the comments.

Justin Bieber Graduates From High School

‘I just finished high school,’ says Bieber. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News When most kids are getting ready to graduate from high school, the biggest worry on their mind is what college they’re going to go to or finding a job. Justin Bieber , of course, is not the average high schooler. And yet, in between releasing multi-platinum albums, touring the globe, renting out the Staples Center for dates with his sweetie
and hanging out in the studio with Kanye West
, Bieber has also managed to stay on top of his studies. “I just finished high school,” Bieber recently told England’s Daily Telegraph . “I passed my test – I’m free! It was hard doing school and work every day.” Amid all the globe-trotting and studio sessions, Bieber kept his eye on the prize because, well, he’s a good boy and he’d promised his mother that he would. “That was something my mom really wanted me to do, so I had to do it for her,” said Bieber, 18. “I mean, this kind of lifestyle has given me a different perspective on life. I’ve been able to travel the world. At school, usually you have to do a lot of writing and reading. I’m really not into that stuff. I like to be out there.” Bieber can clearly buy himself anything he wants as a graduation gift — he already has a batmobile — but his fans have already given him the biggest prize of all: another huge hit. When the video
for his new single, “Boyfriend,” debuted last week it sent a single-day record
on YouTube when it racked up 8 million views within 24 hours. As of press time the clip had been seen more than 19.5 million times. Related Videos Frame By Frame: Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ MTV First: Justin Bieber Related Photos The Evolution Of: Justin Bieber Related Artists Justin Bieber

Travis Porter And Scarface To Mix It Up On ‘RapFix Live’

Wednesday’s show will also pay tribute to fallen Beastie Boy Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch. By Rob Markman Travis Porter Photo: Getty Images There’s no telling what’s going to happen on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” when host Sway Calloway brings Atlanta’s wild boys Travis Porter and hip-hop legend Scarface to the red couch. Ali, Quez and Strap of Travis Porter have been on their rap grind for quite a few years, but now that they’re getting set to release their major-label debut, From Day 1, on May 29, things really look to be paying off. TP’s first official album features 2 Chainz, Jeremih, Tyga, Mac Miller and Mike Posner, but more importantly will be filled with the same type of rambunctious party starters that the trio has hung their hat on. So “RFL” fans can expect the same type of energy when Travis Porter make their way onto the MTV News set on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. That’s not all, though. Houston rap icon Scarface will be making his very first appearance on the show, as he and Sway will run down his 20-plus-year career in rap. After getting his start with the Geto Boys in the late 1980s, Mr. Scarface went on to build a storied solo career. By mixing true grit and raw emotion with introspective lyrics and heartfelt flows, Scarface has delivered unforgettable hip-hop tracks like 1994’s “I Seen a Man Die” and his powerful 1997 duet with Tupac Shakur, “Smile.” Face dropped his last official album, Emeritus, in 2008 but went on to drop his first official mixtape, Dopeman Music, two years later. In 2010 he was locked up and spent 10 months behind bars for failure to pay child support. It was reported that the rapper owed more than $123,000 in support, but now Face’s focus is back in the studio after he and frequent collaborator Beanie Sigel announced plans for a collaborative Mac & Brad LP . “RapFix Live” will also honor the life of fallen Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch , who died on Friday after a three-year battle with cancer. Catch Travis Porter and Scarface on “RapFix Live” Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Ace Hood And We The Best Sign To YMCMB

‘When you got a young man with that kind of focus, you never know how far he can go in this business,’ Birdman tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Ace Hood Photo: Bennett Raglin/ Getty Images Seems like Ace Hood ‘s hustling has paid off in a big way. On Monday night, on the set of DJ Khaled ‘s “Take It to the Head” video shoot, Birdman made a very special announcement to MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway concerning Ace Hood and Khaled’s budding label. “I’d like to let the world know that Khaled’s brand, which is We the Best, is officially signed to YMCMB and the first act coming out that umbrella … will be Ace Hood,” Birdman said. “I always wanted to have a chance to work with Ace Hood.” Ace has kept close ties with Birdman’s Cash Money/ Young Money camp. Birdman appeared on “This N—a Here,” a track off from Ace’s 2009 sophomore effort Ruthless, and Lil Wayne jumped on Hood’s “Hustle Hard” remix last year. Baby has had his eye on Ace for a while now, but he was signed to Def Jam. At press time, it is unclear whether Def Jam is involved in this new deal. “We wanted to do it right, set it up right. I think Ace Hood is a superstar,” the #1 Stunna said. “I love his work ethic, I think he’s a very talented young man and he gonna be a big superstar in this business and I wanted to be the one to help him become that. It was important to me.” So now, through Khaled’s We the Best, Ace Hood joins Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga and, of course, Lil Wayne on the already-powerhouse label. “When you got a young man with that kind of focus, you never know how far he can go in this business,” Birdman said. Kanye West’s ‘Lost In The World’ Video Months In The Making

‘We’ve probably been tweaking and working on it for six months,’ director Ruth Hogben tells MTV News. By Nadeska Alexis Kanye West in his video for “Lost in the World” Photo: Roc-A-Fella Records Kanye West surprised and confused fans last week when, out of the blue, he dropped a video for “Lost in the World” off his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. But director Ruth Hogben tells MTV News that she and ‘Ye actually shot the video together last summer. Hogben, a fashion filmmaker, explained that she was introduced to Kanye through her SHOWStudio colleague Nick Knight, who thought that she would be a good fit to work with the eccentric rapper/producer. The pair first began discussing their plans for the video around May 2011, and they captured all of the visuals in a two-day shoot later that summer. “I think he just wanted something that represented the song really well,” Hogben said, detailing the brainstorming session. “He explained how he felt about the song and it was a really interesting process because he just talked to me about the song — how he felt about the lyrics, about the beat. He was really very concerned about how he felt about the track, so that’s where it started. “It was a really strong collaborative process,” she continued. “The conversation was very organic — he says one thing, I say one thing, he sends a picture, I send a picture. So it was a creative conversation that just kept rolling. We had a two-day shoot and then we spent quite a long time working on the edit together, making sure that it was right. We’ve probably been tweaking and working on it for about six months.” On first look, the black-and-white clip seems to play up the desperation of the Bon Iver-featured “Lost in the World,” with West and his dancers set against the dark, ominous backdrop, but Hogben describes the final product as “energetic.” She maintains that fans are supposed to come up with their individual interpretations of the clip. Even the dancers in the video were given the creative freedom to let loose. “It was actually their interpretation of the song,” Hogben explained. “Kanye didn’t say to them, ‘Dance this way.’ We wanted an interpretation of how they felt about the song.” Related Artists Kanye West

Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’ Video: Frame By Frame

Director X sits down with MTV News and breaks down the sexy new clip, including the deets on ‘Chunky Bieber.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf Justin Bieber in his “Boyfriend” music video Photo: Island/Def Jam Justin Bieber drives fast cars, nuzzles with one very lovely young woman and gets his dance on in his record-setting “Boyfriend” video . Fairly simple in its concept, the video is a snapshot of what it would be like to party with the teen star and his hip friends on a rooftop in Los Angeles. MTV News recently sat down with Director X , and he broke down what it was like to hit the set with the 18-year-old as he readies the next phase of his career, the more mature Believe era . The video is the lead visual off Bieber’s June 19 album, and X took us through the clip, frame by frame. “We start this off with the car stunts,” he said of the opening shot. “We wrecked that car by the way; both of those Mustangs were pretty shot after this video, completely shot after this video.” From there, fans are invited to Bieber’s car-themed rooftop bash, one that recalls the type of shindig another teen idol from back in the day may have thrown. “So we got this rooftop here in L.A., starting our day with Justin and he’s pulling up. We got all the cool kids hanging out,” X said. “Justin’s new look, he’s kind of got a James Dean thing going on here. That’s really Justin driving that Mustang … and he did all the stunts by himself, completely. That’s all him,” X joked. “Actually, that’s us holding the car. We put the car on these wheels and we pushed it around in circles while Justin pretended to drive.” Justin’s “smooth” driving moves are matched only by the real ones he uses on his female co-star, Rachel Barnes. “We got Justin with the girl, pulling [her] around [with the] kids dancing, ’cause you know how kids do. That’s what goes on [at these get-togethers]: Someone brings out their guitar and the party happens,” he explained. “The idea really was to show a lifestyle piece — Justin hanging out — to show that he’s older … just to see this new vibe,” the director added. “We get to see that he’s growing into his manhood. [We] just [wanted] to get in an environment where we can show that naturally, just have fun and get the vibe of who he is.” While Bieber and his lady love in the video captured fans’ attention, a co-star who was dubbed “Chunky Bieber” on-set has also gotten some buzz. X explained, “[Chunky Bieber] came with one of the cars and somehow [Bieber’s manager], Scooter [Braun], I don’t know how in the world they got into conversation where Chunky Bieber started dancing somehow.” Apparently it all went down when the director wasn’t looking. “They taped ‘Chunky Bieber’ to his shirt and Chunky Bieber got in the video.” As the video closes out, Justin’s dancing skills are on full display. “Got some footage of Justin dancing, [and] those are really his feet,” Director X said. “He can do that, and that’s it: Justin Bieber, bad boy.” What do you think of Justin’s “Boyfriend” video? Beyonce’s ‘Run The World’ Started Off As ‘A Joke’?

Rihanna Brings Eye-Popping Sets To ‘Saturday Night Live’

Despite early talk, singer did not appear in any of episode’s skits. By James Dinh Rihanna performs on “Saturday Night Live” Photo: NBC Marking her third appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” Rihanna proved that the third time’s a charm when the pop titan took over the Studio 8H stage on Saturday for a pair of eye-popping performance sets during the Eli Manning-hosted episode . Standing before an oversized crystallized spider web in the middle of the black-lit stage, Rihanna began her first number with the buzzing sounds of “Birthday Cake.” It was a surprising song selection that momentarily suggested the possibility of an onstage reunion with birthday boy Chris Brown, but “Cake” ended quickly, instead leading into a medley of her tune “Talk That Talk.” ” ‘SNL,’ put your hands together like this,” she told the crowd. With her backup dancers on hand, Rih kept the performance straightforward, offering viewers some simple shakes, pelvis thrusts and plenty of swag. One complaint was with the echo effect that was added to her microphone, which made the singer’s vocal sound shaky at times. However, any issues with the opening number were soon forgotten when the pop star took to the stage for her follow-up performance of her brand-new single, “Where Have You Been.” Fronting an Arabian-themed backdrop and human props, Rihanna threw on a fierce game face and danced her way through the track with steady energy. It was a welcome change to see the Barbadian singer show off some footwork. Unfortunately, the episode ended without any mention of “Shy Ronnie,” her first digital short, or any Rihanna-featured skits at all, even though “SNL” head honcho Lorne Michaels had told reporters on Wednesday that he was trying to work out the details on incorporating Rihanna into the sketch lineup. Shy Ronnie may have not made an appearance, but Saturday’s gig was the perfect vehicle to promote her just-released single as well as her big-screen acting debut in the summer flick “Battleship,” which hits theaters May 18.
