Brandy Reveals That Flo Rida Is ‘Somebody In My Life’

‘I don’t want to say that we’re a couple,’ the singer says in her blog. By Jocelyn Vena Brandy and Flo Rida Photo: Vallery Jean/ Getty Images Ever since Brandy and Flo Rida were spotted together at her 31st birthday party in Miami this February, there have been rumors of their romance. Last week, the singer decided to address the talk directly, and wrote in her blog that while she wasn’t ready to say whether she’s officially dating the rapper, she did say that they are definitely feeling it out. “I’ve seen the photos of me and Flo Rida,” she wrote in her Vibe.com blog last week. “It doesn’t matter how we met. We met.

Asher Roth Serves Up ‘Positive’ Message On Seared Foie Gras Mixtape

‘Hopefully, I’mma stick around for a decade and be a voice of the next 10 years,’ Roth tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes Asher Roth Photo: SRC/Universal This Week’s Main Pick Mixtape Maven : Asher Roth Holding It Down For : The Big Apple? He just moved to NYC Mixtape : Seared Foie Gras with Quince and Cranberry Real Spit : Asher Roth is in it for the long haul. He’s not just trying to make a quick dollar and skate — although there are aspects to the game that frustrate him. “I don’t wanna be one of those dudes that’s just like one, two three years, and I’m out,” Roth said, sitting in one of his favorite eateries, Hotel Griffou. “Make a quick dollar. ‘Let me go invest this in real estate.’ I see the opportunity to affect lives in a positive way. I see these 13-year old kids that get a hold of me and be like, ‘Yo, you changed my life.’ Am I 100 percent fulfilled? No. Not even remotely yet. But that’s a good thing. Hopefully, I’mma stick around for a decade and be a voice of the next 10 years. So when people look back, they said I actually added something instead of putting a pop song out that was popular.” Roth, for the most part, raps over beats that are already out there on the tape. He gives props to each producer by noting who the beat is “served by” on the track list. As for that far-out title, he said he tried the delicacy before knowing that foie gras was actually force-fed duck liver. Joints to Check For

Justin Bieber, Tina Fey Make A Dynamic Duo On ‘Saturday Night Live’

‘He was one of the babies in ‘Baby Mama,’ Fey jokes about teen sensation. By Josh Wigler Justin Bieber performs on “Saturday Night Live” Photo: NBC Justin Bieber was this week’s musical guest on “Saturday Night Live,” but the teen sensation’s appearance went far beyond that. In fact, Bieber practically acted as a co-host for Tina Fey by energetically participating in several of the show’s skits. Bieber made his debut during Fey’s opening monologue. The “30 Rock” star joked that she’d noticed an unusual amount of young female fans throughout the week’s preparations for the show. “I must be more of a role model than I thought,” she deadpanned before acknowledging that the fan base had actually gathered for Bieber. “He was one of the babies in ‘Baby Mama’ — two years ago,” she joked about her past association with the singer. Bieber then joined Fey on stage for a brief rendition of “I’m Every Woman” (a hit for both Chaka Khan and Whitney Houston), which was used to comically demonstrate how Fey juggles her responsibilities on “30 Rock,” “Date Night” and other creative endeavors, including her guest stint on “SNL.” Later, Bieber starred in a skit as Jason Deeps, a C+ student in Tina Fey’s fictional high-school science class. Fey’s teacher character constantly fantasized about Bieber’s character, a student she described as “a dreamy Christmas elf” who looked like “a baby bunny sniffing a tiny flower.” In response, Bieber’s Deeps flirted with Fey — presumably setting young hearts aflutter across the country — and sang her a variety of fantasy songs, during which he promised to “buy her a Panini and some spanks to make her teeny.” Immediately thereafter, Bieber hit the stage for an energetic performance of “Baby,” the hit single from his My World 2.0. LP . Accompanied by a group of dancers, Bieber did a solid job on the song’s rap section , performed by Ludacris on the record. For his second performance, Bieber sang “U Smile.” At the end of the song, Bieber told Fey that every time she smiles, he smiles. In addition to Bieber’s contributions, the “Saturday Night Live” gang lampooned several hot topics including Jesse James’ alleged infidelity towards Sandra Bullock, Tiger Woods’ recent return to golf and President Barack Obama’s 2010 Census Form. Fey also reprised her famous impersonation of Sarah Palin, pretending to launch an Oprah Winfrey-inspired television network with programs such as “Are You Smarter Than a Half-Term Governor,” “That’s So Palin” and “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” The Fey-Bieber lovefest concluded with a big hug during the show’s finale. Could Lady Gaga Win ‘Celebrity Apprentice’? Donald Trump Thinks So

‘I’ll tell you, she’s fantastic,’ Trump says of Gaga. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Ian Gavan/ Getty Images On this season of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” ’80s pop icon Cyndi Lauper is battling it out for business supremacy against Sharon Osbourne, Bret Michaels and other stars. A few years down the road, when Trump is still pitting celebs against one another to test their business savvy, the tycoon is hoping Lady Gaga will fill Lauper’s shoes. “I’m a big fan of Lady Gaga,” Trump told MTV News about the prospect of the pop star competing on his show. “We went to her opening [show] in New York [City at Radio City Music Hall] , and I’ll tell you, she’s fantastic. She’s really great.” Does Gaga have the chops to win the show and prove she’s the ultimate celebrity apprentice? “She would win,” Trump asserted. “Absolutely!” Speaking of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” Trump also weighed in on former contestant Jesse James’ current marital strife , saying there’s no way he can repair his relationship with Sandra Bullock. “Well, he self-destructed. Jesse really self-destructed,” Trump said. “He was on ‘The Apprentice,’ and he did a really good job. He’s a tough guy. He’s very sullen, but he’s tough. But he really did self-destruct, and I can’t imagine after what he’s been with and what he’s done that he gets Sandra back.” Do you think Lady Gaga could win “The Celebrity Apprentice”? 30 Seconds To Mars Battle It Out In ‘This Is War’ Video

‘The song is really about conflict … we’ve certainly had our fair share of it,’ Jared Leto tells MTV News. By James Montgomery 30 Seconds To Mars’ Jared Leto Photo: EMI At this point, Jared Leto is getting pretty used to conflict. He and his 30 Seconds to Mars bandmates battled their way through the making of their This Is War album, and they basically willed the first single, the epic “Kings and Queens,” onto the rock radio charts. So when it came time to shoot a video for the second single — the equally soaring title track from the album — well, they pretty much knew the direction they wanted to head. Photos From 30 Seconds To Mars’ ‘This Is War’ Video “The song is really about conflict, and the album really is about it too: the inevitability of conflict, the blessing of conflict and what we can all learn from it. We’ve certainly had our fair share of it,” Leto told MTV News on Friday (April 9). “So for the ‘This Is War’ video, we wanted to explore another side of it. So we decided to portray soldiers in conflict.” And so, in the video, Leto and company donned U.S. Army fatigues — and body armor — picked up standard-issue M4 rifles and piled into an armored Humvee. Working with director Edouard Salier, they’ve created a short film that looks at conflict through the eyes of the men and women who live it every day. And, much like everything involving 30 Seconds to Mars, they went all in. “We worked with one of my oldest friends, who served in the Special Forces and has been in Iraq several times. He was our consultant. It was incredible to take a look into his world and his life, the knowledge and expertise he’s gained,” Leto said. “A lot of people are going to interpret this piece in a lot of different ways, and hopefully it will start some debates and some conversations. “The video made us realize that underneath the uniforms, these men and women out there in conflict are just like you and I. When we put them on, I looked at my brother, looked at [guitarist] Tomo [Milicevic], and they looked like soldiers,” he continued. “You start to walk like a soldier, feel like a soldier, when you’re wearing body armor and carrying a working M4 … it’s an impactful experience. It was definitely provocative for us. It made us think, and that’s the point of the whole thing.” Leto wouldn’t divulge too much about the concept of the video, only saying that the video contains “a surprise” and features plenty of visual effects. The band shot the video outside of Los Angeles, days after wrapping their first-ever European arena tour, just before they headed down to Las Vegas to begin rehearsals for the U.S. leg of their Into the Wild jaunt. And while it was exhausting, Leto said that was just part of the whole experience. And, by now, they’re used to battling a bit. “As is the case with everything involving this band, it was more exciting than exhausting, to be honest. In a way, it feels like the beginning again,” he said. “When we were making this album, we took advantage of the opportunity to rediscover ourselves. So it’s really a celebration. We’re just excited to continue on this journey.” Are you looking forward to the “This Is War” video? Let us know in the comments! Pete Wentz-Directed Train Video Is ‘A Bit Of A Parody’

‘If you take the piss out of yourself, people like it,’ Wentz says of the clip for ‘If It’s Love.’ By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias Pete Wentz directs Train’s video for “If It’s Love” Photo: Matt Elias/ MTV News How did Pete Wentz prepare himself to direct the video for Train ‘s “If It’s Love”? He read a book. “Yeah, I did … it was pretty good too. It was called ‘The Film Director’s Intuition,’ ” Wentz told MTV News recently on the set of the video in Los Angeles. “I learned you’re not going to go through film school overnight — in 24 hours you’re not going to become this guy who knows this lens from that lens. But I always know how I want something to look, and what I learned from the book is that if you have the best director of photography and a great first assistant director, that you’re going to end up with a good video.” And while the idea of Wentz directing a clip for Train seems like it was anything but by the book (get it?) it’s not as far-fetched as you might assume. Both Fall Out Boy and Train are managed by the same company, and Wentz and Train mastermind Pat Monahan both know what it’s like to live life beneath the glare of the spotlight. “I got to know Pat and realized that we were kind of kindred spirits. I’ve been through the wringer, but he’s been through the wringer, like, 20 times more than me, and he shared a lot of experiences and told me a lot of stuff,” Wentz said. “And since early on in Fall Out Boy, I’d write the treatments with [director] Alan [Ferguson]. And [Fall Out Boy’s] ‘I Don’t Care’ video , I co-directed with Alan. So it’s something that I’ve always had a passion for.” And Wentz is definitely drawing from his past for Train’s “If It’s Love” — the follow-up to their massively successful “Hey, Soul Sister” single — but he’s not stopping there, either. The video also recalls great moments from the storied history of music videos as well. Pete Wentz Directs Train “I talked to Pat for a little bit, then wrote the treatment — I wanted to know where they’d be willing to go and how involved they’d want to be. And after it comes out, I think people will see they were pretty involved,” Wentz said. “It’s based off videos like [Michael Jackson’s] ‘Leave Me Alone,’ or ‘The Real Slim Shady’ … it’s a bit of a parody, you’ll see Pat and the guys parodying themselves a bit. That’s what I’ve always found from [Fall Out Boy’s] videos. If you take the piss out of yourself, people like it.” What do you think of Pete Wentz working with Train on their new video? Exclusive: Shyne To Release New Song ‘Messiah’ On Monday

New track, which drops Tuesday, trumpets his NYC roots and delivers messages to the youth. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Tim Kash and Rahman Dukes Shyne Photo: YBF Shyne has some serious goals for restarting his career. The Belize-born MC spoke to MTV News on Friday (April 9) and announced that the launch of his movement begins next week as he drops his new song “Messiah.” MTV News had an early preview of an EZ Elpee-produced track that drops Monday. Shyne held a press conference in Belize last November, shortly after completing a prison sentence of eight years for two counts of assault as well as reckless endangerment and gun possession in a 1999 shooting (Shyne has maintained his innocence in the incident). He said he hasn’t gotten soft over the years; he’s gotten wiser. “I make music about life,” he said during the press conference. “One of the greatest musicians was Bob Marley. There was nothing misogynistic about him. But his music, he talked about some harsh realities sometimes. He was tough. I would like to make that type of contribution, that kind of Marvin Gaye contribution, you dig? But at the same time, we curse. At the same time, life is violent. Life is troublesome sometimes. So don’t expect my music to be sanitized. I am just going to talk about what’s going on in the world.” As you’ll hear on “Messiah,” Shyne is still firm in his words but insists he’s not reckless. Think about the difference between Sonny Corleone and his brother Michael. “I got the city on my back, pretty women in the sack,” the song begins. “Rollin’ in the Rolls/ Sit, sittin’ in my lap/ This is not a rap, fool, this is not an act/ Welcome to New York, blood, this is where it’s at/ Snitches take a nap with the fishes and the rats/ Buried in the dirt where the witnesses is at.” In the chorus, he declares: “This one is a go, but r-r-really though/ If you know the code, then y-y-you could roll/ But if you was a foe, then you get peter-rolled/ But keep that on the low, r-r-really though.” EZ Elpee keeps the track simple but with a threatening synth and bass thump. “You got the crown/ I had to repo that/ Where the East Coast at?/ Mobster music … Nino’s back. “Tell him to go to school, he don’t wanna go/ Shorty wanna roll, how I’mma tell him no?” he continues. “He just like Po/ God knows it better for him to be like Barack O/ My life ain’t gold/ One foot is in the grave, the other in the hole/ I wish that I could show, he gonna follow me straight to death row/ Nah, I’mma make sure, he ain’t like me/ R-r-really though.” Shyne’s new LP doesn’t have a release date yet, but he did ink a record deal with Def Jam earlier this year. “Messiah” will drop Monday. No word yet whether it’s the official first single or a warm-up record. Are you excited to hear new music from Shyne? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Shyne

Ke$ha Hits The Desert For ‘Your Love Is My Drug’ Video

‘Tik Tok’ singer filmed third video from Animal LP. By Jocelyn Vena Ke$ha on the set of her “Your Love Is My Drug” video Photo: Eric Ford/ On Location News Ke$ha is gearing up to tour with Rihanna this summer , but not before taking time out to shoot the third video from her Animal album, “Your Love Is My Drug.” The clip was filmed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and features Ke$ha hanging out in the California desert. The video reportedly “follows Ke$ha on a fun journey through an animated world” and was shot in Lancaster, California. In it, Ke$ha is seen dancing and performing near sand dunes while wearing a khaki-colored bathing suit; she’s also seen wrapped in what appears to be a fishing net. While she was all on her lonesome during the sunset scenes, once the sun went down, she filmed a kissing scene with an unidentified guy next to a campfire. Later on, Ke$ha performed — under black lights while wearing body paint — near some giant rock boulders. The video follows up Ke$ha’s other clips for her hits “Tik Tok” and “Blah Blah Blah.” Ke$ha actually worked with her mom, Pebe Sebert, on several Animal tracks, including “Your Love Is My Drug.” She’s previously described the track as one that a track that delves into the sordid details of her love life. “I wrote a few songs with my mom, who’s a sick writer, and taught me everything I know about songwriting,” she said. “My mom and I are best friends, so it really comes naturally. She taught me how to write my first song. I can also be really honest with her. We’re like best friends and there are no really forbidden topics.” Are you looking forward to Ke$ha’s new video? Ex-Infinity Ward Leaders To Discuss Their "Creative Future" Soon

What’s next for Jason West and Vince Zampella, the former heads of Infinity Ward? We may have the answer soon. The duo’s lawyer released a statement to the LA Times that promises an “announcement very soon” that directly addresses the “creative future” of both developers. The statement pushes back at Activision’s lawsuit and paints Zampella and West in a positive light during the now-past negotiating phase with their former publisher. “Activision itself proposed spinning off Infinity Ward when, last year, it sought to renegotiate Jason and Vince’s contract,” reads the statement, “and induce them to forego developing a new game in favor of doing another Modern Warfare sequel. Jason and Vince had hired the Creative Artists Agency to advise them in their negotiations with Activision, and not to breach their contract.” Activision alleges West and Zampella were conversing with the company’s “closest competitor,” widely believed to be Electronic Arts. Whether the upcoming announcement is connected to EA is anybody’s guess, but it wouldn’t be the first time Activision and EA went head-to-head.

Ice Cube Denies Dissing Dr. Dre In ‘Drink The Kool-Aid’

‘I told Dre that I’d never diss the man that got me started,’ he wrote on his blog. By Shaheem Reid Ice Cube Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images A rap beef nobody wants to see again: Ice Cube vs. Dr. Dre. It was exciting in the AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted and N—az4Life days, but the two legends are going at it again? That’s what some fans thought when footage of Ice Cube performing at the Paid Dues Tour hit cyberspace a few days ago. Cube rapped the lines, “I ain’t the doctor/ This ain’t the patient/ This ain’t that n—a always on vacation/ This ain’t no white boy’s rehabilitation/ This is crazier then a boatful of Haitians.” Cube addressed the controversy on his blog , writing that he wasn’t throwing darts at the Doc and, in fact, he was just in the studio with his former N.W.A groupmate. “I met Dr. Dre in the studio last night,” Cube wrote. “When I got there, Snoop was in the booth laying the finishing touches on another classic from the dynamic duo. He played me some tracks set for the up and coming Detox record and we talked about me jumping on board the project. Of course I talked about him doing sh– on my record and he said he’d bless the album. The Game came through ready to spit but Dre just wanted every[one] to vibe. It felt like old times when me and Dre would work on sh– in Eazy’s cold ass garage. He asked me did I diss him during the Paid Dues show last Saturday. I did one of my new songs called ‘Drink the Kool-Aid,’ which got everybody thinking I’m dissing the whole industry…lol. ‘You internet roaches…’ I told Dre that I’d never diss the man that got me started. “No disses. Just style and grace,” he added. Cube, ever the media maven, also plugged his new single and video for “I Rep That West,” which will premiere May 26 on his Web site. Cube’s album is called I Am the West and comes out later this year. Meanwhile, Dr. Dre’s new single with Jay-Z, “Under Pressure,” is supposed to debut Friday (April 9) according to various online reports. Do you think Ice Cube was dissing Dre in his lyrics?
