Ashley Tisdale To Star In ‘High School Musical’ Spin-Off

Actress will reportedly return to Disney Channel for ‘Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventures.’ By Jocelyn Vena Ashley Tisdale Photo: Eric Charbonneau/ Getty Images Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and Corbin Bleu have all said goodbye to their “High School Musical” alter egos for now, but apparently Ashley Tisdale wasn’t ready to just yet. She’s reportedly going to play Sharpay Evans again in her own spin-off film for the Disney Channel called, “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventures.” A rep for the actress hadn’t returned MTV News’ request for comment by press time, but the rep did confirm to JustJared.com that Tisdale will star in and executive produce the movie, which will shoot this summer. It’s expected to premiere in 2011. There is no word on whether any of her former “High School Musical” pals (particularly Lucas Grabeel who plays her twin brother, Ryan) will also return for the TV-movie. “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” hit theaters in 2008, and there have been rumors that “High School Musical 4” is expected to go into production. While Tisdale and her co-stars seemed ready to try new projects after “HSM 3,” she didn’t rule out playing Sharpay again. “We don’t really know anything about ‘HSM 4,’ actually. It’s flattering to leave the door open for a character, so that’s really awesome,” she said in late 2008. “I’m just kind of looking forward to other projects as well. It’s something that we’ve always loved to do … and [we’re looking forward to] growing in our careers and looking ahead.” Tisdale has been busy with several non-“HSM” TV and movie projects, including the comedy “They Came From Upstairs” and a pilot for a CW series called “Hellcats.” Tisdale also started her own production company, Blondie Girl Productions . Justin Bieber Takes Over ‘Funny or Die’ In Elaborate April Fools’ Prank

‘Anything that’s not Bieber dies!’ teen star says in video message on ‘Bieber or Die.’ By Jocelyn Vena Photo: FunnyOrDie.com After “Parks and Recreation” star Aziz Ansari’s alter ego Raaaaaaaandy swore blood vengeance on Justin Bieber in a Funny or Die video for “stealing” his song “Baby,” it seems that Bieber is having the last laugh. In an elaborate April Fools’ Day prank, Bieber has taken over Funny or Die, renaming it “Bieber or Die.” A message on the Web site reads, “Justin Bieber has decided to buy Funny or Die and do with it whatever his tiny little heart desires.” Not only has Bieber “bought” the site to do whatever he pleases with it, he’s also made several videos for it. In one clip, called “Bieber Takes Over,” the teen star explains why he supposedly took over the site and the sorts of things he does now that he’s famous. “Anything that’s not Bieber dies!” he said. “I’m a star. I do what stars do. I ride on yachts. I autograph lady lumps. And I pay people to slap them.” “I talk loudly in libraries and I swim directly after I eat. I don’t care. I once ran into a club. They said, ‘Sir, you’re not old enough.’ So bought the club and I made it a Chuck E. Cheese. Now whose old enough, bitch? So remember, this is Bieber’s world. You’re just living in it. Bieber or die.” Other videos posted on the site include “Justin Bieber Screensaver,” “Bieber After the Dentist,” “OMG Bieber vs. Chuck Norris vs. Bear,” “Bieber Bucket,” “Bieber Takes a Tumble,” “OMG Bieber vs. OMG Cat” and “Dramatic Bieber.” Related Videos The Diary Of Justin Bieber Behind The Scenes Of Justin Bieber’s MTV.com Live Performance Sneak Peek: ‘The Diary Of Justin Bieber’ Related Photos Behind-The-Scenes Of ‘Diary Of Justin Bieber’: Paris Justin Bieber Live On MTV.com | Photos Related Artists Justin Bieber

Diddy-Dirty Money Debut ‘Hello, Good Morning’ On ‘American Idol’

Trio accompany their Last Train to Paris track with an impressive light show. By Christopher Campbell Diddy-Dirty Money performs on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox Ahead of Wednesday night’s (March 31) results show, “American Idol” viewers were warned about and promised “a strobe-light effect like you have never seen before!” And for those without photo-sensitivity issues, the 10-second spectacle was quite stunning during Diddy-Dirty Money’s debut performance of “Hello, Good Morning.” As a sort of inverse to Usher’s performance earlier in the show, Diddy arrived on a staircase dressed in all white, at first bathed in a heavenly light from above while live violins and timpani kicked off the rocking new single from the upcoming album Last Train to Paris. Diddy was then met on a smoky stage by his Dirty Money mates Dawn Richard and Kalenna, who impressively kept up with their energetic frontman. Halfway through the song, the light show was introduced with an address to those watching at home. “America,” Diddy shouted out, “right about now I want you to turn your televisions up and your lights down. And rock with us!” The strobe lasted only a few seconds, and it was likely even more impressive to the crowd in the studio, but this was a stunt and a performance worthy of the popular TV series in a season when viewers have been their most critical. In the end, Diddy came off like an angel, bathed again in an even greater stream of heavenly spotlight. Then, never one to stand still for too long, he ran out into the audience, where he was met with screams of approval from his fans. What did you think of Diddy-Dirty Money’s performance? Usher And Will.I.Am Heat Up ‘American Idol’ With ‘OMG’

R&B week mentor shows off his own chops on the ‘Idol’ stage after doling out advice to the top 10. By Christopher Campbell Usher and Will.I.am perform on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox Wednesday night’s (March 31) “American Idol” results show brought R&B week mentor Usher back to the stage to show off his new music following Tuesday night’s advice to the final 10 contestants. First, though, Justin Bieber made an appearance to praise his own idol from the audience. “He’s been a great influence,” Bieber said of Usher, who won a bidding war with Justin Timberlake to sign the teen superstar. “He’s kinda shaped who I am as an artist.” Then the man himself sashayed in silhouette down the stairs and onto the stage to perform “OMG,” the new single from his album Raymond v. Raymond, which dropped Tuesday. Wearing a black bowler and matching black suit with silver lapels, Usher looked like a more stylish member of the gang from “A Clockwork Orange.” But his companions were dancers, not droogs, as well as Black Eyed Peas mastermind Will.I.Am, reprising his verse on the poppy Auto-Tune number. The audience joined in on the tune, singing and clapping along to the chorus as flames and other pyrotechnics blasted behind the performers. While “OMG” doesn’t highlight the singer’s vocal talents, Usher more than made up with a kinetic showcase of nonstop dancing. “Part of the reason why I did this album was so you can understand the full spectrum of who I am as an artist,” Usher told MTV News recently about Raymond v. Raymond. “My life has been kinda played out as a journey and going through different chapters, with the albums representing the chapters. It’s the sixth album for me. And when I look back to the people that I admire, I admire people who take you on a journey to where they have been, musically, places they have gone; the culture of that time that affected them, the cultural movement. All of that, they figured out a way to encompass it in the music they made. That’s what this album is.” What did you think of Usher’s performance? Let us know in the comments below! Didi Benami Sent Home On ‘American Idol’

Tim Urban and Katie Stevens survive the bottom three amid performances by Usher, Diddy-Dirty Money and Ruben Studdard. By Gil Kaufman Didi Benami on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox It was another week with no save on “American Idol.” Didi Benami’s ride to potential stardom screeched to a halt Wednesday night (March 31) when even a strong reprise of her signature Fleetwood Mac cover wasn’t enough to keep her in the game. The action-packed hour featured performances from Usher, season-two “Idol” champ Ruben Studdard and Diddy-Dirty Money, as well as a visit from Justin Bieber, but all eyes were on the top 10, as nearly half the finalists were potential bottom-three fodder after an uneven night of R&B performances on Tuesday. It’s on to the next one, though, for Lee Dewyze, Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Siobhan Magnus, who survived after her wobbly take on Chaka Khan’s “Through the Fire” elicited a thumbs-down across the board from the judges. Also safe were Crystal Bowersox, Andrew Garcia and Michael Lynche, who celebrated his luck with a near body slam of Ryan Seacrest after the host tried to fake him out. Teen Katie Stevens had no such luck, taking another trip to the bottom three after the judges had mixed reviews for her cover of Aretha Franklin’s iconic “Chain of Fools.” She was joined, not surprisingly, by Benami, who got mostly poor notices for her jazzy attempt at “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted,” a departure from her singer/songwriter lane that drew predictions of a trip home from our “Idol” experts . Joining them was perma-grinning “Teflon” Tim Urban, who got flamed for his shambolic attempt at Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love.” He took the time to explain that the reason he’s always smiling onstage is that he appreciates the opportunity to sing for millions, and if it’s his last chance to do so, he doesn’t want to leave the stage wearing a frown. The sojourn in the cellar was short for Stevens, who was the first one sent back to safety, followed by the seemingly bulletproof Urban, who busted out his signature smile upon hearing the news. Benami gave it one more chance, taking another swing at her well-received folky ramble through Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon,” which she imbued with the coffeehouse flavor that made the judges fall in love with her the first time. Though she flubbed a note near the end, the performance was a mostly strong one, but, alas, not enough to keep her in the mix. After not even considering the save last week when they sent Paige Miles packing , Simon Cowell seemed torn over whether to bust it out this time. “It’s bad news, sweetheart. We’re not going to save you,” he said with a frown. “[But] it was a million times better than what you did last night.” Benami took a gracious bow and smiled as she watched her farewell montage before breaking into tears as her fellow finalists crowded around for a warm group hug. At the top of the show, producers amped up the drama in a whole new way, intercutting footage from the upcoming “Clash of the Titans” remake with clips from Tuesday night’s performances, setting up the night’s eliminations as a battle between the monolithic judges and the starry-eyed contestants. Among the performers was nearly slim season-two champ Studdard, who spread some velvet-teddy-bear love with his silky ode to the perfect lover, “Don’t Make ‘Em Like You No More,” working the stage like an old-school soul veteran and encouraging the audience to get into it as he swayed and bobbed to the beat. Also in the house was Justin Bieber, who was on hand to see a performance from his musical guru, this week’s “Idol” mentor, Usher. Wearing a dark suit with silver lapels and a black bowler hat, Ush popped and locked his way through his new single, the spare dance anthem “OMG,” with help from Will.I.Am. Making his “Idol” debut was Diddy, with Dirty Money, performing their new single “Hello, Good Morning” in public for the first time. The throbbing Euro-disco club burner with a Timbaland-style beat found the Bad Boy boss busting out his signature shoulder-shrugging dance moves while sporting a white leather suit and bouncing across a fog-enshrouded stage. Next week, the top nine will take on the Lennon/McCartney songbook as they sing Beatles songs. What did you think of tonight’s elimination? Did America send the right singer home? Ke$ha’s Singing Is ‘Awesome,’ Taio Cruz Says

‘Tik Tok’ singer has a ‘very unique-sounding voice,’ Cruz says. By Akshay Bhansali Ke$ha Photo: FOX MTV News recently caught up with British pop artist Taio Cruz, fresh from a visit to Miami’s annual Winter Music conference this past weekend, a visit that saw him meeting the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Steve Aoki and old buddy David Guetta. Now back in New York, little has changed — he still holds the record for the largest jump for a debut artist in Billboard history. His first single, “Break Your Heart” (featuring Ludacris), jumped 52 places, landing at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 two weeks ago. Not bad for a newcomer from England who has yet to release his debut album in the U.S. “It was quite unbelievable,” Cruz gushed. “Obviously ‘Break Your Heart’ did very well in the U.K. It was #1 in the U.K. for three weeks, and that was exciting in itself. My manager and I, we were all staying in a cool apartment overlooking the Hollywood sign — so we’re standing out on the deck going, ‘Number 1! This is awesome!’ The Billboard #1 came about a week later and the massive jump — being the biggest jump in the history of Billboard — it’s insane. It feels good.” “Break Your Heart” is still a top-five single, but that hasn’t stopped Cruz from letting his new U.S. fans know that they can look forward to Ke$ha being featured on his next single, a song provocatively titled “Dirty Picture.” “The song is actually about sending sexy pictures to your significant other,” Cruz explained. “If you miss each other and you can’t see each other, you’re far away from each other, you send pictures to remind each other of how sexy you are.” Cruz said that while Ke$ha’s name wasn’t the first to come to mind as far as collaborators go, she seemed to be the best fit for the song. “I was thinking about Lady Gaga at first,” Cruz offered. “Then I went to a meeting with Dr. Luke and he was telling me about this new girl he was working with. She hadn’t done ‘Tik Tok’ or anything like that at that point. But I just thought she sounded really cool. A very unique-sounding voice. I like that with artists, that as soon as you hear them on a song on the radio, you know immediately who that is without having to be told. “She looked really sexy, and I just thought she was talented. Her voice was awesome. It had this — I hope she won’t mind me saying this, but her voice has this kind of yodely quality to it, the way that she does things and the way that she ends words. I just loved that quality about it.” Fans can expect “Dirty Picture” (featuring Ke$ha) to hit radio some time in June, with the U.S. debut of Cruz’s Rokstarr album tentatively set for release on May 18. LL Cool J Says He Was ‘Misrepresented’ In Ads For Sarah Palin’s New Show

‘Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else,’ LL tweets about commercials for ‘Real American Stories.’ By Shaheem Reid LL Cool J Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage LL Cool J took to his Twitter account to make it clear that despite the advertisements that make it seem otherwise, he is not going to appear on Sarah Palin’s “Real American Stories” show, set to debut on the Fox News Channel on Thursday (April 1). “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palin’s Show. WOW,” Uncle L tweeted . LL and Toby Keith were among the celebrities appearing in an advertisement for the new show that highlights individuals who have triumphed over adversity. On Wednesday, Cool J’s camp released a statement to MTV News further clarifying the rap legend’s stance. “Contrary to what was reported, LL Cool J was never scheduled to be a guest on ‘Real American Stories’ with Sarah Palin this week. The show had planned to use an interview from 2008 that was being repurposed without LL’s permission. This statement is not a reflection of any feelings LL has toward Fox News or Ms. Palin, whom he has never met, rather a clarification of what we have seen published in the media.” In a statement sent to the New York Times , Fox News said they decided to edit LL out of the show. “‘Real American Stories’ features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria,” Fox said in the statement. “However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.” Will you watch Sarah Palin’s new show? Trey Songz Calls Out R. Kelly (Again) In Vibe Cover Story

‘R. Kelly took Aaron Hall’s whole style,’ Songz says after his sound is compared to Kelly’s. By Jayson Rodriguez Trey Songz Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Trey Songz might have denied that there’s a beef between him and R. Kelly — whom he’s regularly criticized in song and interviews — but that doesn’t mean they share a friendly relationship. In the upcoming April/May issue of Vibe, Songz again talks about Kelly, accusing him of jacking R&B singer/songwriter Aaron Hall’s style. The “Say Aah” singer admits he’s done the same with Kelly’s style, injecting some of the embattled star’s subtleties into his music. The result, Songz’s Ready album, is his most successful project to date. “People say, ‘Well, I hear a lot of R. Kelly in your music.’ So what?” Songz told the magazine, which hits newsstands April 13 “R. Kelly took Aaron Hall’s whole style. Two albums straight. … You can say what you want about me.” The Virginia native lashed out against Kelly on a mixtape for the singer’s use of Auto-Tune, claiming he was chasing trends instead of paving the way. The pair have been tossing barbs at each other since an upstart Songz remixed Kelly’s “Trapped in the Closet” single before the singer decided to make a full-scale series of “Closet” songs. In Trey Songz’s version, he responded as the man in the closet hiding from what was taking place between Kelly and his wife. Kelly then released part two, and in his version, the man in the closet reveals himself to be gay. Since then, Songz has been vocal with his disdain for Kelly. Kelly struck back in an interview, saying the younger singer should “be very careful.” In the meantime, Trey Songz is flourishing as a part of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour. He’s the opener and also sings during Jay’s set. In December, he told MTV News that during the trip, he, Jay-Z and Young Jeezy are working on music together. “It’s definitely all in the talks,” he said. “It’s the Mob Squad. Me, Jay, Jeezy, we plan on working together while we on this tour, because the energy we have together when we get around each other is amazing. And like I said, all aspects like that on a record is amazing. Maybe while we out on the road we get it done.” What do think about Trey Songz’s comments? Whose side are you on: Trey’s or R. Kelly’s? Matt And Kim Call Erykah Badu’s Nude ‘Window Seat’ Video ‘More Than Just Shock Value’

Badu credits duo at beginning of her clip, and talked with them before filming. By James Montgomery Erykah Badu in her “Window Seat” video Photo: Universal/ Motown The first thing that flashes across the screen in Erykah Badu’s “Window Seat” video isn’t a bit of exposed flesh or some wondrously weird background character — it’s a message that reads “Inspired by Matt and Kim.” Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’: Shot By Shot It’s a nod, of course, to the Brooklyn duo’s clothing-optional “Lessons Learned” video ,which saw them dash naked through Times Square and earned them a host of accolades, including the award for Video of the Year at the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards . Badu’s “Window Seat” clip is sort of like its spiritual cousin, something she acknowledges right off the bat. But it didn’t start there. Before Badu even filmed her video, she reached out to Matt and Kim to discuss her plans for the project — and get their blessing — as Matt Johnson explained to MTV News late Tuesday night. “She’s an artist that I respect and like, and before she made the video I got a call from her and we talked about it for a little bit,” Johnson said. “We talked about the bigger picture she saw … and
