Beyonce Baby Names: What Do They Mean?!?

Well… okay then ,  Beyonce and Jay Z. Whatever you say, we guess.. You guys just keep doing you This sums up the general sentiment fans of the power couple have had ever since learning about Beyonce’s alleged baby names : Sir Carter and Rumi Carter. Yes, for real. Or at least it seems that way, based on a number of trademarks the artists filed last week to make sure no one else could profit off the use of those names in nearly any way. Beyonce and Jay Z are already parents to a girl named Blue Ivy, whose name at the time of her birth took most fans by confused surprised. But Sir and Rumi?!? How did the superstars even come up with those? Sir , the reported name given to the newborn boy, is of English origin. It’s typically reserved to important people who have received the honor of being knighted in Great Britain, such as Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Anthony Hopkins. It almost sounds like someone’s chosen rapper nickname, right? Sir Carter . You can see a musician performing under that moniker, can’t you? It certainly highlights Jay Z’s given last name and perhaps speaks to the career he hopes his won takes up in a couple decades. No pressure on you, Sir. One of the most successful rappers of all-time simply wants you to follow in his awe-inspiring footsteps. What about Rumi ? Some folks out there are drawing comparisons to the 13th-century Persian poet of the same name, whose work has influenced the arts for many generations.  His first name was Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi and he’s a best-selling writer in the United States. (Actress Josie Maran, it’s perhaps worth noting, welcomed a daughter named Rumi in 2006.) Moreover, the name is also used in Japan, where it means “beauty,” “current, “flow” and “water.” Interesting, right? Neither Beyonce nor Jay Z has commented on these supposed names. Heck, they haven’t commented at all when it comes to their kids. As far as we’ve heard, Beyonce gave birth prematurely, which resulted in a minor medical issue that kept the kids in the hospital for several days. But they’re resting comfortably at a very large rented home in Malibu now, according to various insiders, where Beyonce and Jay Z are very tired and very happy. And while the birth of these twins had been all the Internet wanted to talk about for many weeks, Jay Z came out a couple days ago and changed the conversation a bit. He released a new album in which he admitted to cheating on his wife and also slammed Kanye West, while telling the world his mom is a lesbian. That’s a lot to digest, right? It’s a lot to discuss and debate among your friends. Which simply means these A-Listers have won once again. For the foreseeable future, all other celebrities can just sit back and relax. This is Beyonce and Jay Z’s world. Everyone else is merely living in it. As for where the names Sir and Rumi rank among all-time famous baby names? Chance The Rapper Apologizes To Dr. Dre For Disrespecting Aftermath Records

Chance The Rapper Apologizes To Dr. Dre If you’ve been fortunate enough to hit up Chance the Rapper’s ‘Be Encouraged’ tour , you’ve probably seen him perform “No Problems” during the show. While he does so, Chance projects “label” logos behind him, with a twist. Now that his tour is wrapped up , Chance has begun to feel like one such projection was a misstep. While playing on the “Aftermath Records” Imprint, Chance projected “Cant Do Math Records” on the screen. Now he’s apologizing to Dr. Dre for crapping on his legacy. Chance took to Twitter to express his remorse over the decision: I want to formally apologize to Dr Dre, and all of Aftermath for publicly disrespecting their hard work and contributions to music. — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 When I went on the Be Encouraged tour I made LED content to satirize and degrade major labels. — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 I made the mistake of including Imprints which not only dulled my overall point of trying to uplift artist… — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 But also singled out artist-owned ventures that have only worked to progress the culture — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 Dre is a premier example of creating space for wealth and ownership in an industry designed for creatives to be the foot soldiers — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 His work with Beats, Compton Schools and artist like Kendrick, Game, Eminem, .Paak, 50 NWA and others is unmatched and how i inspire to be — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 I set out to empower and I completely missed the ball and I know that now, — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 once again Sorry to Dre, all the artists/producers at Aftermath and all the other folk trying to make a difference in music that I belittled — Lil Chano From 79th (@chancetherapper) June 22, 2017 Well good for Chance. Although this smells a bit like he received a disgruntled phone call from Dre’s camp… Splash/WENN/Getty

Prodigy Choked on an Egg Before His Death

When the world learned that Prodigy the rapper had passed away at 42 , long-time fans immediately thought of his lifelong battle with sickle-cell anemia. His publicist’s statement confirmed that sickle-cell anemia was a factor, combined with the intense heat of his last venue. But it turns out that there’s more to this story. TMZ reports that, while in the hospital on Tuesday morning, while being treated for sickle-cell anemia, Prodigy choked on an egg . They report that their sources include both those close to Prodigy and those investigating his death. It’s still unclear if that caused or contributed to his death. But we can all imagine the horror of receiving treatment for a devastating illness … only to choke to death. And it’s easy to imagine happening. Prodigy would have been weakened and dehydrated by his condition. Hospital beds are also not really designed for comfortable eating. Laying on your back, as he may have been at the time, can make it much easier to choke. Prodigy has been a respected hip-hop artist. He’s been credited with essentially being one of the artists who defined the genre. He’s best known for being half of the duo known as Mobb Deep since 1992. The other member of the duo was Havoc. Those are both names of X-Men but we think that it’s a coincidence — rappers and superheroes have a lot of name overlap. But he’s performed with other artists, even in the days leading up to his hospitalization. Sometimes our curiosity has limits. Sometimes we find out things that nobody needed to know about celebrities when they die. We’ve already learned more than we want to about  Carrie Fisher’s toxicology report . And yes,  Carrie would want us to know , but not every celebrity wants their private life splayed open. We could absolutely understand if Prodigy’s loved ones are less happy with this news being shared. His fans certainly want to know the details of his passing. But those closest to him want to balance giving fans closure … … With preserving his dignity. We all remember the sensational and sad report about David Carradine’s death . That’s not how he would have wanted to be remembered. Realistically, even if he asphyxiated on an egg, it was the sickle-cell anemia that’s plagued him since birth that sealed his fate. It wasn’t even the devastating Las Vegas heat, where temperatures had reached 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Though that certainly exacerbated the situation. His sickle-cell anemia would have left his immune system compromised. And, more relevant to the scorching desert climate of Nevada, it would have made it easier for him to become dehydrated. So, while the investigation is ongoing, we don’t expect whatever the final determination is to change our view of the situation, egg or no egg. Just as it won’t change our view of the talented man Prodigy was in life. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

Ariana Grande Manchester Concert: Sold Out! In 6 Minutes!

In response to last week’s horrible suicide bombing in Manchester,  Ariana Grande penned an emotional letter that partially read as follows: Music is something that everyone on Earth can share. Music is meant to heal us, to bring us together, to make us happy. So that is what it will continue to do for us. We will continue in honor of the ones we lost, their loved ones, my fans and all affected by this tragedy. As it turns out, the singer is not the only person who feels this way. Within six minutes of tickets going on sale for Grande’s upcoming tribute concert, multiple outlets confirm that the event sold out. Totally and completely. In just six minutes. Makes you feel pretty good about humanity, doesn’t it? That so many people are willing to head back to the scene of this awful crime , in order to prove to the terrorists that they don’t scare us… and also to raise money for all affected by this tragedy? As previously detailed, this special show will take place June 4 at the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Among the act who will join Grande on stage will be Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus Coldplay and Justin Bieber. Proceeds from the concert will go to the Red Cross’ Manchester Emergency Fund and be used to benefit the victims and the families affected by the suicide bombing at Grande’s Manchester Arena concert on May 22. In that act of terrorism, 22 people were killed and over 100 were injured. Those who attended this original concert have been offered free tickets; the remainder went on sale for on Thursday morning for $52. Shortly after the event sold out, Ticketmaster released a statement that assured these original concert goers they would be covered. It reads as follows: “We would like to reassure any fans that were at the show that they will receive a free ticket for One Love Manchester, provided we can verify their initial booking. We thank fans for their patience as we continue to process the registrations. “We want to give all fans who were at the show, regardless of where they bought their tickets, every opportunity to register for One Love Manchester. “We’ve opened up the registration again today, until 2 p.m.” It’s unclear where E! News gets its estimate from, but the website approximates that this show will bring in about $2.6 million. Pretty amazing, huh? View Slideshow: Manchester Bombing: A Tribute to the Victims Niall Horan is one of the artists who will participate, saying this about the event on SiriusXM yesterday: “I’m good friends with Ariana. She called me up and asked me if I would I be involved, and obviously, it was a no brainer. It was a terrible thing to happen. “But Ariana can pull some of her friends together and get on stage and raise some needed money for the victims of a terrible attack. “I guess that’s the least we can do as artists: get up there and sing a few songs and try to put some smiles on some faces.” Amen to that. We salute Grande and everyone taking part in this concert. And we continue to send our condolences to everyone associated with the tragedy of May 22.

The Voice Results: Who Survived the Bloodbath?

Monday night, The Voice top eight performances showed America everything the remaining contenders have left in the tank on NBC. Only four would survive … making this the mother of all results shows. So who would outlast the rest and who would fall by the wayside? In The Voice’s ever-changing, never-uninteresting format: Three artists of the final eight automatically advanced to the finale, while the bottom two were eliminated right off the bat Tuesday night. That left the remaining three artists had to battle it out for the instant save, so in that way it ended on the same note as previous weeks. The first artist to advance to the Season 12 finale, as per The Voice results unveiled last night, was … Team Alicia’s Chris Blue! Chris secured his second consecutive four-coach standing ovation the previous night, so that was hardly a surprise, or a fluke. Next up and on her way to the final episode of the season was Team Blake’s Lauren Duski. A job very well done by the singer. Carson Daly then announced the results that sent a third artist straight through to next week … Team Blake’s Aliyah Moulden. And then there were six … after Team Blake’s TSoul and Team Alicia’s Vanessa Ferguson were both eliminated just like that. That left the fans with the following three: 1. Team Adam’s Jesse Larson 2. Team Gwen’s Hunter Plake 3. Team Gwen’s Brennley Brown  Three singers, one spot and one song. Brown performed Demi Lovato’s ‘Warrior,” putting her own stamp on it and showcasing the range of talent that got her to this point. Plake performed “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic, with some creativity that many felt was lacking from his performance Monday. Larson performed “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton, and his impressive vocals were enough to earn those coveted tweets. Jesse advanced to the finale, keeping Team Adam’s hopes alive and eliminating Team Gwen in one fell swoop. So the field is set. The top four artists will compete in next week’s The Voice finale. What did you think of The Voice results? Did America get it right?

The Voice Recap: Who Made Top 32?

Is it just us or has this season of The Voice been a drag? It’s totally understandable that NBC would want to dilute the series as much as possible because it’s such a ratings powerhouse.  You would think that having 12 episodes in the can would mean we are far into the competition. Instead, we’re whittling down the contestants with the aim of having 32 left.  It’s pretty crazy, but at least we’re in the final battle round episode of the season.  Who made the cut? We have the answers for you below! Lauryn Judd vs. Lilli Passero The two women duked it out to “Every Little Bit Hurts” by Brenda Holloway. Unsurprisingly, it’s difficult to tell which of the women would make it through.  They each have strong voices that could make anybody happy. Their harmonies were on point, so it was a little upsetting that only one of them would make it through.  That said, Lauryn did make a few mistakes, and something tells me if she turned in a consistent performance, she would still be part of the process.  Winner: Lilli Passero Jesse Larson vs. Taylor Alexander Throughout the battle rounds, people are paired up that should not be together. It seems like an easy way for the producers to meddle with the process.  Jesse and Taylor went to battle, singing “Shameless” by Billy Joel. It sounded good, but it seemed rigged to give Jesse the win.  Taylor struggled at some parts, and it became glaringly obvious when Jesse hit all the notes.  Winner: Jesse Larson Brandon Royal vs. Davina Leone This duo went with “In the Night” by The Weekend. It was a solid performance for both artists, but Brandon’s pitch was perfect.  It was not nice how Davina was practically forced to strut her stuff to win the battle. Her performance lacked something, and it just seemed forced. In the end, it was obvious Brandon was winning.  Surprisingly, Adam took Davina on to his team.  Winner: Brandon Royal Steal: Davina Leone That means the battle rounds are over, you guys! Now, it’s down to all the artists to stay in the competition. All they can do is sing for their lives. At this stage, the contestants get the pink slip from left, right, and center. What will happen? Hit the comments with who you want to make it to the end.  View Slideshow: Reality TV Star Salaries: Who Makes the Most?

Lady Gaga, Metallica Grammy Performance Plagued By Mic Issues

Lady Gaga and Metallica's Grammys duet was plagued by technical problems Sunday night, but the unlikely collaboration still worked. As well as it could have, at least, considering that James Hetfield's microphone wasn't working … not a small issue for a rock band. For the first minute, Gaga effectively took over as lead singer while Hetfield sang “Moth Into Flame” lyrics into an ineffective mic. Those who watched the 2017 Grammy Awards live on CBS knew what was going on, but you could barely tell watching the artists. Handling it like … well, rock stars, they didn't miss a beat. Hetfield and Gaga shared ended up sharing her mic, adding a cool theatrical element to the performance, albeit an unplanned one. Gaga even launched herself into the sellout audience for some crowd surfing at one point, a throwback to Metallica concerts of yore. Even old school Metallica fans had to appreciate that … With a mix of their heavy metal grit and her pop bombast, not to mention insane pyrotechnics and headbangers, they gave it their all. While you might not expect these two acts to perform together, given their different musical styles, both are performers in the true sense. As for how this collaboration ended up happening? “I was at Bradley [Cooper's] house with Lars [Ulrich, Metallica's drummer] and we were just hanging out,” Gaga said recently. “He's amazing. I went to see them live.” “I saw them recently and we were watching the show,” she added, “those guys play better than they’ve played in their whole lives.” The Grammys capped a huge week for the pop icon. One week earlier, the career-spanning medley that was the  Lady Gaga Super Bowl halftime show was widely praised as a success. She, not unlike James Hetfield and his fellow band members, has put together an impressive resume that will stand the test of time. As for Metallica, the metal greats was nominated last night for Best Rock Song for “Hardwired,” but lost to David Bowie's “Blackstar.”  Watch the tandem rock the Grammys below!

Put On Blast: Nicki Minaj Calls Giuseppe Zanotti Out For Using Her Name Without Cutting Her A Check

Nicki Minaj Puts Giuseppe Zanotti On Full Blast For Not Taking Her Call Giuseppe Zanotti launched a new shoe collaboration last week in Beverly Hills with Jennifer Lopez … soooo seeing as she already has a relationship with the shoe designer, and he’s named multiple shoes in his collection after her, Nicki Minaj had her people call up Zanotti about doing a possible collaboration as well. This is wonderful. #GiuseppeZanotti seems to think it's ok to name his sneakers after me but his PR says they won't take our call. Lol. — NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) February 3, 2017 Turns out the call didn’t go so well, but Nicki chose not to keep that private. Instead she put Giuseppe on full blast. I met #GiuseppeZanotti years ago. At which time, he told me I inspired him to design a sneaker in my honor. Wore them on the cover of Cosmo — NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) February 3, 2017 Going all the way in about how she’s been giving him and his shoes free publicity for YEARS. Recently when he gave other artists capsule collections, my agency reached out and was told they're not taking our call.
