Rick Ross Announces Rich Forever European Tour

Ross will begin a 14-date run March 21 in Lille, France. By Rob Markman Rick Ross Photo: Getty Images If Rick Ross plans to stay rich forever, the Maybach Music head might want to consider spending significant time on the road. In promotion of his latest mixtape and all things MMG, the Bawse is hitting up Europe for his 14-date Rich Forever Tour, which begins in Lille, France, on March 21. According to AllHipHop.com , Rozay will not only be performing songs from his respected rap catalog, but also debuting new music from his upcoming God Forgives, I Don’t album. By the time Ross wraps things up April 4, he will have run through Switzerland, Norway, Germany, Holland and London. On Thursday, Ross released a music video for his “Spend It” freestyle. Rozay rocks a red and white Adidas tracksuit in the Spiff TV-directed video as he raps his bars over the 2 Chainz instrumental riding around in a black Maybach. It’s the same type of street material Ross has ruled with over the past year. His musical grind earned him the #1 spot on MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game list, placing him over the likes of Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z. “It’s something I’ve been watching, something I’ve been a fan of forever. Of course, MTV, they run the game. MMG, we’re here. Shout-out to the whole team,” Rozay said in reaction to being named the Hottest MC. Rick Ross’ Rich Forever Tour dates:

Justin Bieber’s Birthday Wish List

MTV News goes shopping in New York City to find the prince of pop the best gift, from a $20,000 watch to a Bentley. By John Mitchell, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Justin Bieber Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Justin Bieber’s 18th birthday is here and everyone, from his mentor Usher to his biggest fans , is super excited! But what do you get the guy who already has everything? MTV News’ Christina Garibaldi hit the streets of NYC to find out, visiting some of the Big Apple’s most exclusive big-name retailers to find the pop prince the perfect birthday gift. Anyone who’s seen MTV’s classic “Cribs” knows that the rich and famous love cars, and “the more the merrier” seems to be the motto when it comes to filling your garage with sweet rides. Biebs already has a Ferrari and a Cadillac Batmobile, so what more does he need? Paul at Manhattan Motorcars thinks he’s got just the ticket: the redesigned 2012 Bentley Continental GTC. “Very sporty car, definitely aimed at a younger buyer,” Paul told MTV News. “Completely hand-built, handcrafted in England. Just a blast to drive.” With a new ride lined up, Bieber’s going to need a new pair of shades to keep the sun out of his precious peepers while he’s cruising around Hollywood. For those, MTV visited Jordan Silver at Silver Lining Opticians. “Some of the most amazing pieces I think Justin might like are Persol, Ray-Ban and some of the brands that did car collaborations in the ’80s,” Silver said. “One we just got in is by Maserati. It’s a shield with three sets of lenses, interchangeable, and two sets of temples so that when you’re traveling at high speeds you might need the extra protection of the cable temple.” The cost? A cool $1,200. But that’s pocket change to Bieber’s pals like Lil Wayne , who hit the recording studio with the “Baby” singer last month. If Bieber’s girl Selena Gomez is feeling sentimental about the dog they recently adopted, she could hit up Trax NYC for an $18,000 23-carat bulldog pendant. “Got some pink diamonds in the eyes. Yellow diamonds, black diamonds, all hand-set,” Trax’s Paul Mazza told MTV News. For an even pricier gift, Christina checked out some of Trax’s blinged-out watches. “If you look at it right here, there’s a lot of diamonds,” Mazza said, showing off a $20,000 watch featuring 35 carats in diamonds. “This is something that definitely garners a lot of attention. … Got one for every day of the week, different colors. It doesn’t get any better than this.” What would you get Justin Bieber for his 18th birthday? Leave your comment below! Happy 18th birthday, Justin Bieber ! Nicki Minaj Promises Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded Is A ‘Doozy’

‘It’s gonna be important for just hip-hop culture and pop culture,’ Minaj tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News Playtime is over and on her latest single, “Roman Reloaded,” Nicki Minaj returned to the rapid-fire rhyming that first got her noticed on hip-hop’s mixtape circuit. The Rico Beats-produced banger features pounding drums, well-timed gunshot effects and plenty of tough talk from Nicki and her Young Money boss Lil Wayne . It’s a far cry from last year’s “Super Bass” and the Harajuku Barbie’s RedOne-produced pop-affair “Starships.” “That’s just a preview of what’s to come on the album. I know what people need right now,” Nicki told MTV News in her dressing room at the Amway Center after her NBA All-Star Game performance on Sunday. Anticipation is building for Nick’s sophomore LP, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, and with a little more than a month left before it is released, many are still unsure which direction the Young Money star will take. Will the album sound more like the title track or “Starships”? Of course, there is always a middle ground. “April 3 is gonna be a doozy. It’s gonna be crazy,” Nicki said of her album release date. “It’s gonna be important for just hip-hop culture and pop culture. It’s gonna be very big.” On Thursday (March 1), Nicki unveiled her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album cover via Twitter . The colorful album art shows the reigning rap queen with blond hair and a mix of pink, purple and green paint covering her face. What are you expecting from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded ? Documentary chronicling singer’s personal struggles airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday, March 6, on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato in the “Stay Strong” trailer Photo: MTV News & Docs Demi Lovato pledges to “Stay Strong” in her MTV documentary, the aptly titled Demi Lovato: Stay Strong,” which will debut on Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. When the trailer dropped last week, fans immediately began to watch it on repeat. It lends insight and gives sneak peeks into what Lovatics will get to see and hear from the star when the full show airs next week. The deeply personal special follows the singer/actress as she struggles to confront her personal demons, while also focusing on her music career. “I wanted to do this documentary because I told a lot of my story but no one has taken cameras inside of my life and gotten to see what it’s like first-hand a day in the life of me,” she told MTV News on Thursday (March 1). “I thought it would be a cool opportunity for my fans to see what it’s like.” Before the show airs, MTV News is taking a look at several of the must-see moments from the trailer. Her Fans Demi opens up about the support she received from her fans during her personal struggles, noting that they helped her though her darkest days and still do. Her fans also talk about how appreciative they are of her openness and honesty. She even visits the Illinois treatment facility where she spent several months. She later says, “I’m not fixed; this is a daily battle. But I continue to work my butt off because now I want to be a legitimate role model.” Battling Her Eating Disorders The singer/actress makes her way home for her first Thanksgiving since treatment. Having dealt with eating disorders, she goes to a family gathering for a holiday that’s focused on eating. “I never thought that I’d be a role model,” she says about her public image. “When I first started in the industry, everyone just kind of made me a role model, and I hated that. I had so many issues underneath that needed to be taken care of. … It literally ended up driving me insane.” Getting Back to Touring She cut her tour with the Jonas Brothers short in 2010 when she went into treatment, and in fall 2011 she embarked on her first tour since leaving treatment. About the trek, she notes, “This time on tour I feel like I am definitely not taking anything for granted.” The special is named after two tattoos on her wrists that read, “Stay Strong.” The ink pays homage to her devoted fans, who stood by her side through her recent personal struggles through her return in 2011, when she released her album Unbroken. “It’s something that my fans were actually drawing on their wrists while I was still in treatment,” she explained about the significance of her tattoos. “Some people even got tattoos of it, so I wanted to show you guys that I will never forget the support that you guys gave me.” Don’t miss “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong,” debuting Tuesday, March 6, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Green Day’s Upcoming Album Is All About Sex

Singer Billie Joe Armstrong promises that their ninth studio album will ‘blow minds.’ By Gil Kaufman Green Day Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Green Day have covered a lot of topics over the years: politics, war, greed, depression, boredom and the mind-numbing spiral of drug addiction. But carnal knowledge? Not so much. According to a YouTube video posted by the group chronicling the sessions for their upcoming ninth studio album , that will be remedied in the near future. Of course, Green Day being Green Day, they didn’t put it quite as delicately as all that. “I’m just trying to think of how we can make people feel more attached … as attached to this record as we feel,” says an unseen questioner (who sounds exactly like bassist Mike Dirnt) in the recently posted 35-second clip, which features scenes of Dirnt skateboarding and playing ping-pong. “I think it’s so personal and it is so voyeuristic,” replies singer Billie Joe Armstrong, shown adjusting levels at a mixing board. “And it is … this is the first time we’ve ever really sung about f—ing.” And there you (bluntly) have it. Green Day are opening the door to their hearts by singing about the oldest topic there is in rock and roll. The thing, you know, that actually gave rock and roll its name. But still, Dirnt wonders if even that’s enough. “I know, but it’s that daunting … they’re gonna get, ugh … you can sit there and hold the record, look at a piece of art. ‘Here you go, come on in even further,’ ” he says. “The songs are gonna f—ing blow their minds.” Armstrong tries to assuage his concerns, saying, “You’re taking it personal. You’re taking it way too personal.” Either way, the as-yet-untitled album is shaping up to be a big step away from the group’s two lauded recent efforts, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, both of which were concept albums about the ills of modern society and Bush-era paranoia. A February 14 post from Armstrong strongly signaled that the album would tackle all things carnal. “Happy Valentine’s Day!” he tweeted . “Officially started recording the new record today. It’s F— TIME!!!!” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Green Day

Usher, Lil Wayne Mark Justin Bieber’s Birthday

‘Happy birthday, slime. You in the club,’ Weezy tells Biebs in birthday video compiled by MTV News. By Rob Markman Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images When it’s your 18th birthday, you’ll probably get well wishes from mom, dad, and, if you’re lucky, your teenage crush. But when you’re Justin Bieber , you get shouts from Usher, Lil Wayne and Sean Kingston. Be jealous! On Thursday (March 1), the Biebs turned 18 years old, and his most famous of friends hooked up with MTV News to celebrate Bieber’s birthday . “I hope that you are around all of your loved ones and having a good time. This is from big bro, from the heart,” Usher said in a video piece compiled by MTV News for the Biebs. The Confessions singer initially signed Justin along with his manager Scooter Braun, and he has since become a mentor to the pop star. So of course the 33-year-old Usher had to impart some b-day wisdom on his young homey. “Eighteen will give you an opportunity to do a little bit, not all, so we got a few more years before you can go all the way,” he said, acknowledging the three years until JB turns 21 and is allowed to legally drink in the U.S. “Maybe I might even be able to sneak you into a club. Anyway dawg, happy birthday. I love you.” Comedian Kevin Hart isn’t buying all of Justin’s birthday hype, though. “Whatever Justin Bieber is supposed to be doing at 18, he was doing at 15,” he joked after sending his well wish. Platinum hitmakers RedFoo, B.o.B, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida all helped MTV News celebrate the occasion. Even Lil Wayne, who was with Bieber in the studio in February, sent a special message. “Happy Birthday, slime, the big one-eight. You in the club, slime,” Weezy said, standing beside Young Money’s Lil Chuckee. As far as birthday presents go, it’s anybody’s guess what his buddies will actually get Bieber. But Robin Thicke bypassed tradition and instead hit up the “Never Say Never” singer for a loan. “Send me some money, Justin. You got way too much,” he said, laughing. But what do you get the young man who has everything? Sometimes all it takes is a few kind words. “Thank you to all the people that made the video,” Bieber told MTV News. “It really brought a smile to my face.” Leave your own birthday message for Justin Bieber in our comments section! Tyga Says Clearing MLK Sample ‘Not Really My Job’

‘That’s why you got lawyers and a label that’s supposed to do that, and I guess it just got overlooked,’ he tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Tyga on “RapFix Live” Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Hip-hop was built on sampling. Beat breaks from old-school records like the Honeydrippers’ soul classic “Impeach the President” and the Incredible Bongo Band’s 1973 version of “Apache” have become the basis for a number of notable rap records. As essential as sampling is to hip-hop culture, it is also a vital part of the music business, and utilizing an unauthorized sample can be costly to an artist. Tyga had to learn the hard way when he failed to clear a sample of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech for the title track of his Careless World: The Rise of the Last King LP. Because Tyga and his label failed to clear the sample with MLK’s estate, the physical copies of his album were removed from stores when it was released last week, on February 21. “I felt like a lot of my fans and some of the younger generation know of Martin Luther King, but they don’t really understand his struggle or what he did and the message he was trying to give to younger people like myself,” Tyga explained on Wednesday’s (February 29) “RapFix Live.” “Me knowing that is why I used the phrase on that song, and I really wanted that part on the song. It was, like, 10 seconds. If I thought it was gonna jeopardize my first-week sales, I wouldn’t have used it. I used it because I wanted the message to get out.” Clearing samples isn’t a simple process, and there are quite a few legalities to consider. Some material is considered fair-use, but the guidelines that define what is and is not considered fair use aren’t always cut-and-dried. “I thought it would be like more public use, since it was on YouTube. I eventually knew you had to get it cleared with someone, but that’s not really my job to do,” Tyga said. “My job is to be the artist and really put all my effort into the music. That’s why you got lawyers and a label that’s supposed to do that, and I guess it just got overlooked.” The mishap has definitely cost Tyga a significant percentage of his first-week sales. He estimates that about 200,000 physical copies of his album were pulled from stores, and his entire sales tally came strictly from digital outlets. When it was all said and done, Carless World moved 61,000 digital copies and would have sold even more, if not for the sample snafu. “To hear that, to get that phone call, it’s like, you know, don’t bring me all the way to the finish line and drop the baton,” he said, disappointed. “I’ve been working so hard for this, and you guys couldn’t clear a little sample?” It is unclear where the blame lies, be it with Tyga’s camp, his Cash Money label or CM’s distributor Universal Republic. Whatever the case, the “Rack City” rapper is bummed that he had to compromise his artistic vision. “It was the fact that I wanted this Martin Luther King phrase on this part of the song and I couldn’t get it,” he said. “It’s all good. We gonna keep rolling with the punches, and it’s a great album.” Did you download Tyga’s new album? Share your reviews in the comments! Adele’s 21 Scores 22nd Week At #1

Fun. debut at #3, while Tyga lands at #4 with Careless World. By Gil Kaufman Adele’s 21 Photo: Columbia Records Surely someone is going to come along to knock Adele off her perch. But in the meantime, the Grammy-winning singer simply cannot be beat, as her 21 will notch its 22nd non-consecutive week at #1 next week thanks to sales of nearly 297,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. And that’s with sales dropping almost 60 percent from her post-Grammy high . More than a year into her incredible run, Adele has sold almost 7.7 million copies of her second album in the U.S. Also holding strong was the Whitney Houston greatest-hits collection, which lost just 1 percent of its sales from the previous week, staying in the #2 position on sales of 174,000 in the second full chart week since the singer’s death . It was joined in the top 10 by the soundtrack to “The Bodyguard,” (#6, 47,000, up 176 percent) and her self-titled debut (#9, 30,000, up 72 percent). Among the debuts in the top 10 are: Fun. , Some Nights (#3, 70,000); Tyga , Careless World: Rise of the Last King (#4, 61,000); and Chiddy Bang , Breakfast (#8, 31,000). The rest of the top 10: Now That’s What I Call Music! 41 (#5, 54,000); Adele’s debut, 19 (#7, 39,000); and the 2012 Grammy Nominees compilation (#10, 29,000). Just outside the top tier, buzz duo Sleigh Bells rolled into a #12 debut with their second album, Reign of Terror and Grimes hit #98 with Visions (5,000). Over on the iTunes singles chart, Fun.’s hookup with Janelle Monae , “We Are Young,” was at #1, followed by Kelly Clarkson ‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” The Wanted with “Glad You Came,” Katy Perry ‘s “Part of Me” and B.o.B ‘s “So Good.” The list was rounded out by Adele at #6 with “Set Fire to the Rain,” Nicki Minaj just behind with “Starships,” then Gotye with “Somebody That I Used to Know,” Chris Brown with “Turn Up the Music” and Carrie Underwood ‘s “Good Girl.” Adele easily kept the #1 spot on the iTunes album chart, followed by Tyga, Fun., Chiddy Bang, Houston, Sleigh Bells, Gotye’s Making Mirrors, Adele’s 19, Drake ‘s Take Care and the Beatles ‘ 1. Adele should be safe for another week as she pursues the magic 24-weeks-at-#1 mark, though the new album from Bruce Springsteen could provide a challenge. Otherwise, the fresh faces include Sean Paul , Estelle and Kid Cudi ‘s troubled WZRD project . Related Artists Adele fun. Tyga

T.I. Signs Trae Tha Truth To Grand Hustle

‘We’re gonna work alongside each other for a common goal and release this Trae tha Truth project,’ T.I. tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman Trae Tha Truth and T.I. Photo: MTV News T.I. ‘s hustle just got a little more grand. Not only is the King of the South gearing up to release his eighth studio album, Trouble Man, Tip is also expanding his Grand Hustle roster, adding new artists at seemingly every turn. His latest addition: Houston street king Trae tha Truth . Trae and Tip announced the joint venture deal between Grand Hustle and the Houston MC’s ABN label Wednesday (February 29) on “RapFix Live.” “We’re gonna work alongside each other for a common goal and release this Trae tha Truth project,” T.I. said of the deal, which was arrived at the old-fashioned way. “When cats [who are] cut from a certain cloth give their word and shake their hand, that’s what makes it a done deal — the ink is just a formality.” The two haven’t yet figured out how Trae’s upcoming ABN projects will be distributed, however. T.I. is currently signed to Atlantic through Grand Hustle, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Trae’s project will travel through the same channels. But Trae doesn’t seem overly concerned about the particulars. “Me and Tip are similar in a lot of ways. We both understand what it is,” Trae said. “The thing that kinda made me way more comfortable is he reached out more on a partner note to where it wasn’t about money, it wasn’t about none of that. It was about, ‘Look, we can team up or even if you doin’ your own thing, I’m just supporting what you got goin’, I want to see you make it.’ ” Without the help of a major label, Trae has already carved out his lane in the streets. While he isn’t the most popular MC, it’s hard to find an artist in the game today who is more respected. His last album, Street King, featured not only underground rappers like Messy Marv and Yo Gotti, but also boasted contributions from the likes of Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Big Boi and Wiz Khalifa. “Grand Hustle is an established brand, ABN is already an established brand, it’s about seeing what we can do to parlay what we’ve already done for ourselves to make it benefit the other and it’s a two-way street,” T.I. explained.
