(Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images) Seven NYPD cops will have to answer to the court on Thursday for charges related to a prostitution and gambling ring. According to CBS2 , the officers are accused of providing protection, including info about ongoing investigations, for illegal gambling and prostitution locations in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and Jackson Heights, Queens. The suspects are identified as Sergeants Carlos Cruz, 41; Louis Failla, 49; Cliff Nieves, 37; Officers Steven Nieves, 32; Giancarlo Raspanti, 43; and Detectives Giovanny Acosta-Rojas, 40; and Rene Samaniego, 43. They face charges of promoting prostitution and enterprise corruption. Sources say the Internal Affairs Bureau began investigating in 2015. They were tipped off by another officer. Since then, sources say investigators have obtained thousands of hours of surveillance, including wiretaps of the cops allegedly involved. In a statement, NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill said the accused officers “swore an oath and then betrayed it.” He continued, “The people of this Department are rightly held to the highest standard, and should they fail to meet it, the penalty will be swift and severe. I thank Deputy Commissioner Joseph Reznick for the thorough investigation performed by the Internal Affairs Bureau, in partnership with the Queens District Attorney’s Office, in rooting out this illicit activity. His unit initiated this probe and in doing so has sent a clear message: there is no place in the NYPD for criminal or unethical behavior.” More sources say a retired NYPD detective was arrested as a “major player” in the operation. Two more uniformed officers were put on modified desk duty, and their guns and badges were taken away. More than 40 civilians are also said to be wanted for their involvement in the illegal activities. The Queens County District Attorney will lead the prosecution of the case. More info will be revealed in a press conference expected for Thursday afternoon.

F rom Stacey Abrams to Kamala Harris , a handful of Black women politicians and candidates have been helping the Democratic party to gain traction despite the group’s history of inadequate support of their efforts. The list of women who have won primaries in recent months indicates that voters want women of color represented in political positions across the nation. Black women candidates are challenging underrepresentation with strategic voter mobilization efforts and agendas important to voters. With that, they have secured notable victories, from Abrams in the Georgia gubernatorial primary to Ayanna Pressley in Massachusetts’ 7th congressional district race . Jahana Hayes , a teacher, is running for Connecticut’s 5th congressional district, and Lauren Underwood , a political advisor and registered nurse, set her sights on representing Illinois 14th Congressional district. Letitia James , public advocate for the city of New York, has entered the state’s Attorney General race. Of course, Black women Democrats already in office have pushed for more transparency, accountability and social change in their roles. San Francisco Mayor London Breed had advocated for the city to stop charging post-jail fees to residents already in poverty — a wish which came true when a court pardoned a $32 million fee for 21,000 people last month. Senator Harris, the lone Black woman in the Senate, posed questions to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh about his views on Charlottesville “Unite The Right” rally and more during his confirmation hearing this week. Black women who are running to the polls, not for office, have also held it down for the party, which is seeking to gain a majority in the House and Senate come November. The voting bloc has its strength in numbers, having gotten Abrams to a primary win in May. Black women had also shown up at the ballot box in large numbers for elections in Virginia and Alabama last year. Both candidates and voters have asked the Democratic party to better address issues facing people of color such as healthcare and the economy. Democrats haven’t even thrown enough support behind Black women candidates, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) only endorsing Underwood. Democrats are being called on to do more to support candidates so they can do more to support voters and address their issues. So hey, remember that time that Farrah Abraham was staying at a hotel in Beverly Hills and then started arguing with other guests at the hotel? And then when a security guard came to escort her away from those poor guests, she flipped out and assaulted him? You remember! According to the security guard and several witnesses, Farrah hit the poor man with her forearm and grabbed his face and shook it. Then, when police arrived, she told them to “f-ck off” several times, which, you know, isn’t great. She was taken to jail and stayed there for a good long while until she was released, and a few weeks later, she was officially charged with battery and resisting arrest. Pretty much from the very moment she was released from jail, she’s been telling anyone and everyone that she’s not guilty. She’s said that she was set up because she’s famous , that she’s being bullied by everyone who claims she’s guilty … you know, just classic Farrah denial. But the fact remains that several witnesses, including police officers, saw what actually happened, and they all agree that Farrah broke the law. So, famous or not, she’s facing jail time. When she was officially charged, the word was that she could spend a maximum of 18 months in jail for her crimes (the ones she committed that night at the hotel, not the ones she’s committed against humanity over the years). Also when she was officially charged, her first court date was set for today. So what happened?! According to a new report from Radar Online, Farrah was offered a plea deal. If she agreed to the deal, then the battery charge would be dropped and instead, she’d be charged with trespassing, a misdemeanor. She wouldn’t go to jail at all, but she’d be on probation for three years, and she’d be required to take 26 anger management classes and do some community service. As part of the agreement, she’d also stay away from the hotel where this whole nightmare went down. It sounds like a pretty great deal, right? You have to imagine that there were cameras at the hotel that perhaps caught some of Farrah’s fit, but even if there wasn’t, police officers probably make pretty convincing witnesses in court. Besides, Farrah is a single mother. Wouldn’t she want to take this deal if it means avoiding jail time, just so she could be there for her daughter? If she had the slightest bit of common sense, she’d agree to the plea deal and be done with it. But, as we all know, she does not have the slightest bit of common sense. And so when she was offered the deal in court today, she did not take it. As her attorney explained, Farrah isn’t into the idea of pleading guilty to trespassing because “She was clearly allowed and permitted into the hotel so there is no reason to agree to that.” But as Farrah herself told the site, “I’m not accepting the offer because I’m not guilty.” “I have gone through a lot of counseling and therapy,” she claimed. “I am also very mentally stable and I have no aggressive issues.” “I can literally submit that to my lawyer, show that to the judge and it would still override this fake offer.” How funny is it that she actually siad “I am very mentally stable and I have no aggressive issues”? There aren’t any official rules on it or anything, but it seems like people with no aggressive issues wouldn’t cause such a ruckus in a hotel that they’d be escorted out by a security guard. And non-aggressive people certainly wouldn’t tell police to go f-ck themselves. As for the “very mentally stable” part, well, there are hours upon hours of Teen Mom footage to prove that wrong , not to mention footage from her other reality shows, plus her social media accounts. But sure, girl, whatever you say. Farrah also said “I clearly had a valet and I was not trespassing. I didn’t batter someone.” “This is just, to me, another form of, again, ‘No celebrity face, there would be no case.'” Does she honestly think she’s so famous that all these people would make up some story about her assaulting a security guard? To pay tribute to his wife of four years, Jeremy shared the following precious picture of himself and Audrey yesterday on Instagram: Then, he went ahead and made us cry ALL the tears by including with it a caption that reads: You are a beautiful creation, an amazing wife, and a great mom. I love your self acceptance and desire for self growth – to be you and only you, while also seeking who you were made to be. Thanks for grounding me, taking care of me, and loving me so well. Jeremy went on to list all the ways in which he enjoys spending time with his better half: Working with you is fun. Playing with you is a joy. And raising a kid with you is an honor. Seriously, do birthday tributes get any more precious than that? Jeremy and Audrey, of course, have been in the news of late for a different reason. They are leaving Little People, Big World. They will not be appearing on future episodes, as Jeremy announced just a few days ago . “After 14 years, over 300 episodes, and 17 seasons, the time has come,” Jeremy wrote, much to our chagrin, prior to adding: “A year ago I made the decision that this season would be our last. It has been an amazing run, and I can’t say thank you enough to all of you who have watched and supported us along the ride. “We have the most loyal fans on TV and we appreciate every one of you. You are what made doing this so fun. “We will still be supporting the family as they carry the #LPBW torch onward. This is a decision concerning Audrey and me specifically – the show must go on!” Audrey then chimed in and wrote the following on her Instagram page: “I am so thankful for the encouragement, kindness, and support that each of you have shown to our family. We are forever grateful for the run we’ve had. “Excited to focus on what we feel the Lord is calling us to!” With a memoir on the way from the couple and their blog/business, Beating 50 Percent, up and very much running, we’ll still be seeing plenty of Audrey and Jeremy down the line. It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than a month since XXXTentacion was shot dead in Miami . Earlier this month, police found one of XXXTentacion’s killers . Though police do not yet have all of the suspects in custody, prosecutors are moving forward. They have already issued indictments. Let’s take a look at the details. One of the alleged shooters was Michael Boatright, who was arrested earlier this month. Trayvon Newsome is believed by police to have been the toher trigger man. Newsome is currently wanted by police. Two other suspects are Dedrick Williams, who is in custody, and Robert Allen, for whom police are still searching. TMZ reports that all four suspects in XXXTentacion’s murder were indicted by a grand jury On top of the obvious murder charge, all four men are also charged with armed robbery using a firearm. According tot he Associated Press, Dedrick Williams was spotted on surveillance cameras and identified. Though fearful of being labeled a snitch in prison for speaking to police, he did tell investigators that he did not know in advance that XXXTentacion would be robbed. It was apparently Boatright and Newsome who carried out the actual robbery, or so investigators have been told. Of course, felony murder rules mean that co-conspirators in crimes that result in murder are all indicted for murder, regardless of which individual did the killing. XXXTentacion had been looking at motorcycles just before he was shot to death in an apparent armed robbery. The rapper was only 20 years old, and had some very passionate young fans. He also apparently acted as something of a mentor to younger people in the business. 14-year-old Danielle Bregoli, who launched her record-breaking music career after insulting Dr. Phil on television, felt a very close bond to XXXTentacion. Their last conversation, just days before his death, was an argument in which she told him that she never wanted to speak with him again. Danielle will always regret her final words to him , she says. XXXTentacion was also infamous for an alleged beating of a gay man, and for being accused of horribly abusing his girlfriend Geneva Ayala to the point that she had to have reconstructive surgery on her face due to damage to her skull. The shocking descriptions of what is said to have done to her during their relationship amount to torture. Unfortunately, because of this, his ex is reviled by some of his more ardent fans. Though his abused girlfriend just wants him to rest in peace , some fans objected to her presence at a vigil for him, and kicked her out. Afterwards, they burned what she had left in his memory. XXXTentacion continues to be mourned by many of his fans. Some of them are so young that this he is the first celebrity musician whom they’ve lost. Some say that a video made shortly before the rapper’s passing predicted his own death . In fact, some sources even say that XXXTentacion talked about wanting to die young like some of the great rappers of the ’90s. Are you ready to say goodbye, The Walking Dead fans? AMC has released the first trailer for Season 9 of this mega-hit, which is notable for a couple reasons: ONE: New Walking Dead footage! Yes! Awesome! Hooray! TWO: Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the series as Rick Grimes at the end of the upcoming new season. He confirmed this very strong rumor at the show's Comic-Con panel on Friday, July 20. “This will be my last season, playing the part of Rick Grimes,” the actor announced in front of thousands of fans, adding: “I love this show. It means everything to me. I love the people who make this show. I promise not to cry – I’ve done enough crying on screen.” He then cried, just a little bit, concluding: “I’m particularly fond of the people who watch this show, you people. “This has been the most extraordinary, beautiful experience of my experience… So I just want to thank you. As for the trailer itself? We hear Rick's arch enemy, Negan, early on, as he growls: “You think you’ve got all this on lock…” Naturally, of course, it is anything but. At one point in the footage, we see Michonne warn Maggie that they need to come up with some rules of conduct for the newly blended communities. Elsewhere, Daryl appears to have been appointed disciplinarian. There's also our first glimpse here at Maggie and Glenn’s baby, which is both precious and bittersweet, considering the fate of Glenn at Negan's hands. Or his bat, we guess, to be more specific. “We’ll see our group together working in unity in a lot of ways, but you’ll also see some changes in the way that they deal with each other,” show runner Angela Kang has teased of Season 9. “In some ways, you’ll see that the vision has succeeded beyond anybody’s wildest imagination. On Friday, the world learned that Michael Cohen had apparently recorded Donald Trump discussing payouts to cover up his alleged affair with a former Playboy model. Those recordings may be evidence that Trump violated campaign finance laws in the 2016 election. Being a woman who goes public with her story of having had sex with Donald Trump can get you stalked, harassed, and threatened. Recently, it even got Stormy Daniels arrested in a transparent sting operation that many believed was designed as part of a harassment campaign against her. In this case, we’re talking about former Playboy model Karen McDougal. It has now come to light that, just months before the 2016 election, Trump spoke to his attorney, Michael D Cohen, about payments made to McDougal to ensure her silence. According to The New York Times , Cohen recorded his conversation with Trump … and the F.B.I. now has those tapes. According to lawyers and others familiar with the tapes, the F.B.I. acquired these recordings earlier in the year. Remember their big raid on Michael Cohen’s office? That’s when they got their hands on them. The Justice Department is invesigating Cohen over payments to women in order to bury embarrassing stories about Trump during his Presidential campaign. If so, it is believed that this was a violation of campaign finance law. The Trump campaign has insisted that it had no knowledge of any such payments. Considering the amounts of money exchanged, some find this hard to believe. Karen McDougal says that her affair with Donald Trump spanned for nearly a year, beginning in 2006. It apparently began a short time after Trump’s current (and then, new) wife, Melania Trump, gave birth to his youngest child, Barron. During the final months of the 2016 Presidential campaign, McDougal sold her story for $150,000. Unfortunately, she sold it to The National Enquirer , a tabloid whose owner is friendly towards Trump. After purchasing her story, the tabloid declined to publish it. This is known as the “catch and kill” method for handling scandals. Rudy Giuliani took a break from claiming that porn stars are worthless as human beings to confirm to The New York Times that the recordings do include Trump and Cohen discussing these payments. He says that the recordings are about two minutes long. Giuliani claims that Trump did not know that he was being recorded … which is what most people had figured, anyway. However, Giuliani also claims that Trump did nothing wrong. He says that Trump was discussing a totally separate deal to buy McDougal’s story. Giuliani says that Trump considered buying McDougal’s story from the Enquirer, which would have effectively reimbursed the tabloid for buying McDougal’s unwitting silence, but that the payment was never made. Cohen is being intensely scrutinized under suspicion of a lot of things for his work on behalf of Donald Trump. Though he was a firm loyalist for Trump (and Sean Hannity, his other client), Cohen has recently been changing his tune, and said that he will put his family and country first. Some are skeptical, however, and think that if Cohen is really willing to put his country first, he should tell the Justice Department everything that he knows about Trump’s illegal dealings immediately. Others are unsure of his credibility, but are inclined to listen to evidence such an an audio recording. Some suggest that this revelation about Trump discussing payouts to McDougal might lead to his downfall. It might seem unimportant compared to Trump kissing Putin’s ass in what many consider to be an act of treason. But breaking election laws is still serious. It matters. Corey Sligh, an actor who formerly worked as an extra on soap operas such as The Young and the Restless, All My Children and Days of Our Lives, has been found guilty of molesting a young girl in Georgia. According to local news outlet The Cherokee Tribune, the 30-year old was found guilty on June 28 of inappropriately and illegally touching a child younger than 10 years old. The actor and model is also awaiting trial on similar case in Florida. Bill Bishop, chief assistant state attorney for Okaloosa County in Florida, says Singh faces one count of lewd and lascivious molestation, which carries a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted. For the current conviction, however, Sligh faces five to 20 years behind bars. No sentencing date has been set for him just yet. Sligh was arrested in his hometown of Canton, Georgia in November of 2016. At the time, he was charged with the two counts after the parents of a young girl reported to authorities that the actor allegedly touched their daughter and forced her to touch him inappropriately. The alleged incident took place in March of that same year and was reported to the police in September. It is unclear just how many times Sligh allegedly molested his victim in Georgia. “Corey Sligh maintains his innocence,” his lawyer told E! News, adding: “The jury found him not guilty on Count 1. The jury compromised to guilty on Count 2 after deliberating for days and requesting to be hung and released from service.” The part-time actor recurred on the aforementioned dramas as a waiter and a bartender. However, Sligh is also known for an unusual, violent incident that made him a victim back in November of 2014. In this instance, Sligh claimed that he and his girlfriend were randomly attacked while delivering Thanksgiving meals, resulting in serious injuries and a hospital trip for the star. This is a photo he shared of himself afterward: Weeks after his Georgia arrest, meanwhile, Sligh was arrested and charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation stemming from another incident involving another girl under the age of 10. It’s confusing to follow, but… Florida Police said her mother told authorities that her child said Sligh touched her inappropriately and forced her to touch him while they were vacationing in Rosemary Beach. It was basically the same actions he was accused of in Georgia. “There is an allegation in Florida by the same person alleging the same conduct,” his attorney explains. “The Florida evidence was presented in the Georgia trial to further bolster the State’s case. Corey had 30-50 family and friend supporters in court every day during the trial. We, including his wife, stand behind him still.
