During the “bid acceptance night”, which is the official induction to join the fraternity, 19-year-old Timothy Piazza suffered from multiple head injuries due to an over-consumption of alcohol. As part of the initiation, fraternity members must undergo “the gauntlet”. According to police reports, “the gauntlet” is a series of stations where members must consume four to five cups of alcohol in under two minutes. The object is to get really drunk, really fast. After participating in “the gauntlet”, Piazza fell down steps leading to the basement. He acquired bruises to his abdomen and was carried back upstairs. Frat house surveillance shows Piazza stumbling and hitting this head a few more times throughout the night before falling down the steps again. Other fraternity members delayed calling the ambulance, ignored another member who suggested Piazza was unconscious and tried to cover up the scene by throwing out any “evidence” of alcohol. Needless to say, the fraternity is banned indefinitely. Hopefully Piazza’s parents find some peace knowing justice was served for their son.

Ann Anastasi recently plead guilty to plotting and executing a plan to murder her husband and his mistress after she allowed the other woman to move into their home. Authorities report that Anastasi killed Anthony Anastasi, 40, and 25-year-old Jaqueline Riggs with help from her 13-year-old daughter and her daughter’s 18-year-old boyfriend Gabriel Struss. (Wait…..what?!) Struss is accused of the actual murders; shooting Anthony and stabbing Jaqueline. Police believe Riggs was involved with both the wife and the husband. NBC Washington reports: A woman who prosecutors say was in a love triangle with her husband and their live-in mistress pleaded guilty to her role in their slayings. The Anne Arundel County state’s attorney’s office said in a statement that 43-year-old Ann Anastasi pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder Wednesday. On Oct. 5, 2015, police found 40-year-old Anthony Anastasi Jr. fatally shot and 25-year-old Jacqueline Riggs stabbed to death in the basement of the home they shared with Ann Anastasi in Lothian, Maryland. Prosecutors say the three were in a relationship, but Riggs and Anthony Anastasi moved together into the basement. Investigators say Ann Anastasi plotted with her 13-year-old daughter and the girl’s boyfriend, 18-year-old Gabriel Struss, to kill Anthony Anastasi and Riggs. Struss pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in June. During their investigation, police found text messages among all three suspects that referenced the killing of two people. According to the charging documents, Struss sent a text message to the teenage girl, telling her not to talk to the police or he would go to jail for life. In another message, the girl discussed taking the “fall” for the killings for Struss. The 13-year-old girl was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and accessory after the fact. Struss was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony crime of violence.
