Hundreds Ride With 13-Year-Old Cody Alicea To Show Support For His Right To Display The American Flag On His Bike

13-year-old Cody Alicea made national headlines recently when school officials at Denair Middle School ordered him to take down the American flag on the back of his bike while he was on school property. Apparently “some students” had been complaining about the flag. Cody had just been trying to honor military veterans such as his grandfather Robert. Well, it turns out that Cody's story struck a major chord with veterans across the United States. As Cody rode his bike to school on Monday, he was accompanied by hundreds of other bikes and motorcycles. After arriving at Denair Middle School, Cody and his patriotic escort recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. added by: Revelation1217

Roads Need to be Shared, Not Monopolized by Cars We often hear the excuse that there’s simply not enough space to accomodate drivers and cyclists & pedestrians. But is that true? When it comes to lack of space, many areas of London, UK, are hard to beat, yet as the video above demonstrates, it is more than possible to share the road. Many traffic-calming measures are necessary to make them safe for non-drivers, but that brings many other side benefits (it’s an incentive for more people to take public transit inside the city). The series is sponsored by the Clif 2-Mile Challenge . Do you remember receiving your first bicycle as a child? A seminal moment for many of us. It punctuates that time in our lives when we were enveloped by a sense of unbridled freedom. We were no longer dependent on our parents to shuttle us around the place. We weren’t constrained by bus or train timetables. We could… Read the full story on TreeHugger
