Who Scored Big in Week Nine of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

A strange thing has happened over at 30 Rockefeller Plaza during this season of Saturday Night Live : Bill Hader has usurped Kristen Wiig as SNL ‘s go-to cast member. Oh, sure, Wiig has had her fair share of sketches this season, but it’s becoming increasingly evident that the Man Who Plays Stefon has put the show on his back. Hader wasn’t number one on the Revelancy Poll this weekend, however, but it’s a rare week when he does not appear in the top-five. For reference, this is not one of those weeks.

Who Scored Big in Week Eight of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

This week’s Robert De Niro-hosted episode was not a good time to be a featured player on Saturday Night Live — or even a regular cast member who struggles for airtime (ahem, Abby Elliott). Save for his monologue and a pretty awkward “Mr. Produce” sketch, De Niro was delivered A-material that did a pretty solid job at hiding his faults as a host — which, of course, also means we were given three (!) recurring sketches: “What Up With That?”, “Blizzard Man” and “Vinny Vedecci.” As this week’s poll clearly shows, it was a week for the veterans.

Saturday Night Live Scorecard: Was the Third Time a Charm for Host Robert De Niro?

Robert De Niro returned for his third Saturday Night Live hosting gig last night, and the usually befuddled host was, this time, surprisingly… OK. Look, the guy is never going to be considered one of the great hosts — a screen legend always seeming to be a little bit out of his element. For starters, De Niro, more than almost any other recurring host, doesn’t really hide the fact that he reads off of cue cards (of course, because of so many last-minute changes, everyone on SNL reads off of cue cards, but some work harder than than others at hiding this). But, dammit, there’s something endearing about the fact that he keeps trying. It would be going a little far to say that the third time was a charm — but his third time was, let’s say, serviceable (with some help from Ben Stiller). On to the scorecard!

The Event’s Clifton Collins Jr. on the Television Experience, Vegan Police and Spoiler Containment

Frustrated by so many tangled conspiracies and unanswered questions about NBC’ s The Event? Clifton Collins Jr., who you might know as one of the Vegan Police from this summer’s Scott Pilgrim or Perry Smith from Capote plays shadowy, calculating Thomas on the freshman sci-fi series. He stayed pretty tight-lipped about any plot details, but after the jump, he spills about the transition to television and how to keep spoilers in check.

Who Scored Big in Week Seven of SNL’s Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time-Player Relevancy Poll?

We have a first-timer at the top of the SNL Relevancy Poll this week! And, considering how great this weekend’s episode was, it’s actually pretty remarkable to note that it wasn’t driven by the usual suspects. So, at least for two weeks, say hello to your new SNL Thanksgiving King, Bobby Moynihan.

SNL Scorecard: Anne Hathaway Leads a Spirited Comeback

Anne Hathaway did more than bring Saturday Night Live back to form last night — she hosted the most consistent episode from start to finish this season. Hathaway, when she hosted two years ago, was surprisingly game for just about anything, and her second stint as host — often a letdown for most hosts not names Jon Hamm — proved to be a winner. To the Scorecard!
