Because of course… President Trump Suggests That Funding HBCUs Is Unconstitutional Remember that really silly photo op of the HBCU Presidents meeting with Donald Trump ( and aged avocado Kellyanne Conway ) in the White House to discuss HBCU funding? Well if you had any doubt at all that it meant absolutely nothing, then here’s your proof. The Washington Post is reporting that YOUR Crusty Cheeto Head Commander In Chief is wondering if funding a program that helps historically black colleges and universities get loans for construction violates the constitution. Rut roh… “The White House released a signing statement connected to the recently approved federal funding measure. Tucked away in the last paragraph, the White House announced that it would treat a program that helps HBCUs get low-cost construction loans “in a manner consistent with the (Constitutional) requirement to afford equal protection of the laws.” People in higher education circles worried that the statement meant that the president was planning to get rid of a capital financing program that helps historically black colleges repair, renovate and build new facilities. Congress approved the program in 1992 after finding that “HBCUs often face significant challenges in accessing traditional funding resources at reasonable rates,” according to the Education Department. SMH. The United Negro College Fund is who initially noticed Trump’s wording about HBCUs, but according to them they’re not worried—-yet anyway. “We’re not overly alarmed at this point, based on informal reassurances and just our own knowledge of how these funding statement get put together,” Cheryl L. Smith, UNCF senior vice president of public policy and government affairs, told The Washington Post. We sincerely hope Trump doesn’t make any policy changes that affect our beloved HBCUs. During the “bid acceptance night”, which is the official induction to join the fraternity, 19-year-old Timothy Piazza suffered from multiple head injuries due to an over-consumption of alcohol. As part of the initiation, fraternity members must undergo “the gauntlet”. According to police reports, “the gauntlet” is a series of stations where members must consume four to five cups of alcohol in under two minutes. The object is to get really drunk, really fast. After participating in “the gauntlet”, Piazza fell down steps leading to the basement. He acquired bruises to his abdomen and was carried back upstairs. Frat house surveillance shows Piazza stumbling and hitting this head a few more times throughout the night before falling down the steps again. Other fraternity members delayed calling the ambulance, ignored another member who suggested Piazza was unconscious and tried to cover up the scene by throwing out any “evidence” of alcohol. Needless to say, the fraternity is banned indefinitely. Hopefully Piazza’s parents find some peace knowing justice was served for their son.

Cop Charged In Jordan Edwards Killing Officer Roy Oliver, the cowardly cop who opened fire on a car full of teenagers on “suspicion of underage drinking,” ultimately killing 15-year-old Jordan Edwards , has been charged with murder. A warrant was issued for Oliver’s arrest on Friday, noting that he “intended to cause serious bodily injury and commit an act clearly dangerous to human life that caused the death.” Oliver, who had a sordid past in his career as a cop and was subsequently fired by his department after news of the killing went national, surrendered to police and was formally arrested later in the day. If you’ll recall, Oliver originally showed up to the party Edwards and his friends were attending based on some reports of underage drinking going on at the home. For no real reason, he opened fire on the car full of children as they were leaving the scene, striking and killing Edwards in the passenger seat. The fact that he was actually charged with a crime is all well and good…but we really need to see a conviction this time around. Dallas County Police
