Stars Descend On Bud Light Crew HQ Over All-Star Weekend [Photos] This weekend Bud Light took over NOLA for All-Star Weekend with the Bud Light Crew HQ. Some of the NBA’s talent and musical guests and their families and crews all stopped by. Throughout the weekend, the guests danced to hit record spins by DJs Zaytoven, Sonny Digital and even BBWLA star, DJ Duffey. Later, the stage lit up with performances by New Orleans’ Mannie Fresh and Birdman and the party continued with appearances from 2Chainz and Jay Electronica. Guests were event treated to a peek of superstar Toni Braxton who rolled through to support her boo even stopped by to see Birdman take the stage. The space included a pop-a-shot gallery and an NBA Jams arcade tournament. Drummer Clyde Stubblefield Dead At Age 73 Clyde Stubblefield, drummer for James Brown and originator of one of hip-hop’s most popular beat samples, has passed away at age 73. His cause of death was kidney failure. If you don’t know Stubblefield’s name offhand, you definitely know his sound. A 20-second snippet of a Stubblefield drum solo found on James Brown’s 1970 “Funky Drummer” single that made a HUGE impact on music, serving as the backbeat for countless hip-hop tracks — totalling over 1000 samples of the beat. Songs using the iconic percussion include Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power,” “Bring the Noise” and “Rebel Without a Pause,” N.W.A’s “F*ck tha Police” and Dr. Dre’s “Let Me Ride” to LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out,” Run-D.M.C.’s “Run’s House,” just to name a few. Peaches Monroee Launches GoFundMe A teenager whose phrase went viral on Vine is looking to be compensated years later. Back in 2014 Peaches Monroee became a sensation and started the trend of people calling things “on fleek.” Now Peaches who’s a college student studying nursing, has launched a GoFundMe asking for money to fund her cosmetics line. “Some of you may know me as Peaches Monroee but my name is Kayla,” wrote the viral video star. “I came up with the phrase/word “Eyebrows on Fleek”. Everyone has used the phrase/word but I haven’t received any money behind it or recognition. But for the most I want to start a cosmetic line and hair line; But I don’t have any money to do so. Maybe this can help me with my wishes and dreams. Kayla has a goal of $100,000 and you can view the GoFundMe for yourself HERE. WELP! Black People Are Being Pushed Out Of Atlanta” Billboard An anti-gentrification billboard is making national headlines. On Atlanta’s I-285 highway, drivers are seeing a billboard that reads, “Black people are being pushed out of Atlanta”—which is indeed true. In addition to the message, however, there’s a deeper meaning behind it. The billboard is actually advertising a documentary from Black Channel Films. The doc is called “Gentrified” and it’s said to explore “the unspoken ethnic component behind the most devastating socioeconomic movement in American society today.” According to The AJC , the film was shown at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Cultural Center and Bookstore in Atlanta. It was also followed by a Q&A with Mary Gill of WAOK 1380 AM. The documentary will also be shown in New York, Chicago, London, Detroit, Houston and Washington D.C.
