Oh, Word? Snoop Dogg Biopic By Lee Daniels & Ryan Coogler Reportedly On The Way [Video]

SplashNews.com Snoop Has A Multipart Movie Or Series In Mind Snoop Dogg was spilling all the beans on a D.C. radio show and now the world could expect a Snoop biopic in the near future. Snoop visited Vic Jagger of 102.3 and he told her about ideas he had to portray his life in a multipart biopic.   At first, Snoop held his tongue about who would be involved in the project. But then he let it out, saying Ryan Coogler and Lee Daniels were already behind the scenes trying to make the movie or series into a reality. Coogler is best known as the director of Black Panther , while Lee Daniels is behind a little show called Empire.  No big deal. Watch Snoop’s words for yourself below…   Coogler and Daniels have yet to respond to Snoop’s statements, but hopefully, the three creatives are cooking up greatness in the development stages.

‘Dirty Tricks’: Voters Won’t Be Denied As Brian Kemp Rigs Voting Machines

Read the original:

G eorgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp  stooped to a new low, even for him, in his ongoing efforts to keep Black people from voting for Stacey Abrams , the Black woman running against him for governor. Voting machines, which fall under the responsibility of the secretary of state, were delivered to majority Black precincts without any cords to provide them with electrical power for voters to cast their ballots. Kemp’s “dirty tricks” caused delays of up to four hours at polling places where hundreds of voters at a time were left waiting. See Also: Coincidence? Black People In Georgia Typically Get The Oldest Voting Machines, Increasing Chances Of Error “Brian Kemp is playing in the game and he’s also the referee!”  Rashad Robins , president of the racial justice group Color of Change, told NewsOne Tuesday afternoon. “The word we’re hearing is about suppression and dirty tricks, long lines and broken down polling places.” Kemp, who has President Donald Trump ’s endorsement, oversees the election system. He’s also been on the receiving end of multiple federal lawsuits over his attempts to suppress Black votes. They range for rejecting certain absentee ballots , blocking approximately 53,000 voter registration forms and purging some 700,000 voters from the state’s voting rolls—all targeting African-American voters. Here are just a few of the reports that flooded social media about suppression in Georgia. No power cords for voting machines in African American majority neighborhood in Georgia. This is a disgrace. I don’t believe in coincidences. Everyone should assume this is all orchestrated by Kemp. SMH! @tomreganWSB pic.twitter.com/YTXdXLAHzG — Everything Georgia (@GAFolIowers) November 6, 2018 Many of the reported problems apparently stemmed from old, decrepit voting machines that are concentrated in poor communities. “The counties and cities with the fewest resources are voting on the oldest equipment that tend to have the most problems,”  Edgardo Cortés , an election security advisor at the Brennan Center for Justice’s Democracy Program, confirmed to NewsOne during an interview on Monday. Kemp and Abrams were locked in a neck-and-neck race. Abrams has the chance to become the nation’s first African-American woman governor—in a red state that has not elected a Democratic governor in two decades. “Stacey Abrams’ opponents recognize that the only way they could win—when our folks are fired up—is to suppress the vote,” Robinson, of Color of Change said. “What I do think is really exciting is that folks, in the face of all that, are still turning out in large numbers.” SEE ALSO: Make Massa Happy! Norf Side Thespian: Vince Staples Just Landed His First Lead Acting Role In The Film, ‘Punk’

Photo by Jim Bennett/Getty Images Vince Staples Is Getting Into Acting With New Lead Film Role Vince Staples is so much more than a rapper, and now he’s adding even more to his resume. Not only is he a musician and Sprite’s number one ambassador, but not, he’s getting into the acting world as well. The Long Beach native has just landed his first leading role in the film,  Punk , which is going to be directed by Richard Hughes, who will also be making his debut as a director. Punk  is said to be centered around the protagonist Peter, played by Staples, who goes on a road trip with some free-spirited people after receiving some disappointing news via a rejection letter. While embarked on said trip, Peter will learn that he contrary to what he might have believed, he doesn’t really know the people around him as well as he previously thought. He ends up finding out while on the trip that he is on the road with a group of bank robbers and someone who is on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. According to  The Hollywood Reporter , Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Braden Aftergood will produce the movie. Aftergood has previously produced movies including 2012’s  Battleship  and this year’s  Siberia . Kavanaugh-Jones worked on this year’s  Insidious: The Last Key . This wouldn’t be Vince’s first time working within the movie world. The Long Beach rapper has had his music featured in the film  Creed  with the track “Waiting For My Moment” along with his contribution to the  Black Panther soundtrack. Aside from his flourishing acting career, the rapper has just wrapped up a tour across the United States with Childish Gambino. As of now, no release date has been revealed for Vince’s upcoming leading role, but be on the lookout for  Punk  to make it to the big screen sometime soon.

Rapper Fabolous Indicted For Brutally Assaulting The Mother Of His Children

Read more:

L ast week, rapper Fabolous , who real name is John Jackson, was indicted by a grand jury in New Jersey on one count of domestic violence with significant bodily injury, two counts of threatening to kill and one count of possession of a weapon, according to TMZ . He is facing 20 years in prison. SEE ALSO: Juelz Santana’s Life Behind Bars Just Got A Little More Real Back on March 28, the rapper was arrested on charges that he assaulted his girlfriend and mother of his two children  Emily Bustamante . According to court documents,  he punched Bustamante seven times in the face and threatened her father and brother. Court documents said the dispute began on March 7 when Emily was on a flight from Los Angeles. The rapper allegedly sent a text that stated “he wanted to hit her in the head with a baseball bat and that he would kill her but he ‘did not want to go out like that.’” Within the next three weeks, he punched her seven times, causing her to lose two front teeth. The court documents also said, “‘The victim called her father to remove two handguns from the residence due to her fear that they may be used against her,’ according to the affidavit. When Jackson arrived at the Kenwood Street residence, he confronted the victim, her brother, and father, but then went to the upstairs of the residence looking for the handguns, which had been removed. ‘When he could not locate the guns, the defendant left the house, but not before informing the victim, her father and her brother that he had a bullet for them,’ according to court documents.” The count for possession of a weapon is for threatening Bustamante’s father with a pair of scissors. Michael B. Jordan Is The New Face Of Coach Menswear

Paras Griffin/Getty Images for Essence Michael B. Jordan Is Now The Face Of Coach Menswear Talk about having a good year. Following the company’s success during Coach’s partnership with actress and singer Selena Gomez, the brand has just announced that  Michael B. Jordan  will be the new face of menswear. The Black Panther , Creed , and Fahrenheit 451  actor will not only represent the brand, but is also designing his very own capsule collection in the future. He is set to meet with creative director Stuart Vevers next month to begin brainstorming ideas for his own designs. Before designing some pieces of his own, though, Jordan is now appearing in advertising campaigns for the brand’s men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and fragrances–beginning with the new spring 2019 season. “I liked what Stuart was doing so we decided to move forward with me being the face of the brand,” the 31-year-old told  WWD . When he was asked about his personal style, Michael said that he feels just as comfortable in a “very pristine” suit as he does in streetwear, but in the end, he spends more time thinking about the roles that he plays. “As an actor, I’m always putting on somebody else’s shoes and becoming someone else,” he explained. To go along with that, Jordan said that he keeps his stylist busy since he’s constantly gaining muscle mass and then slimming down thanks to roles like Creed . As for what we can expect from Jordan’s own designs, he’s not letting anything slip. When the actor was asked to name an athlete or fellow celebrity whose looks inspire him he responded, “There are a lot of people whose style I like, but I wouldn’t want to dress like them.” So it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what his capsule collection entails once it hits stores. Congrats to MBJ on the big moves!

How Black Lives Matter Is Taking A Grassroots Approach To Stop Gun Violence

The rest is here:

G un violence across the nation has reached a human rights crisis level: from the out-of-control situations in Chicago and Baltimore  to tragedies like the Parkland, Florida , school shooting and most recently the Dallas cop who killed an unarmed Black man in his own apartment. NewsOne spoke with Philadelphia-based Black Lives Matter (BLM) national organizer and activist  Asa Khalif   about his grassroots effort to help stem the crisis in Philadelphia, where shootings have increased by 10 percent this year and homicides in southwest Philadelphia have  surged by 26 percent . See Also:  Heartbreaking: Chicago Mourns Gun Violence Activist As City Sees 21 People Shot Amnesty International released a new report on Wednesday that examined how the U.S. government has allowed gun violence to become a human rights crisis “on a massive scale” and accuses the powers that be of violating international human rights standards. U.S. officials are required to comply with certain global treaties that touch on the right to live free of violence, including the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination, the global human rights organization said. But gun violence has disproportionately affected Black communities. African-Americans represented approximately 13 percent of the population in 2016, yet they constituted nearly 60 percent of gun homicides nationwide. Naomi Wadler—the 11-year-old activist who delivered a poignant speech about gun violence at the March for Our Lives demonstration in March—will be honored by the NAACP. https://t.co/ofDM1xm1El pic.twitter.com/1egG1Cei3g — NewsOne (@newsone) July 15, 2018 Khalif said he supported Amnesty International designating gun violence a human rights crisis. Last year, He and other activists started an initiative in Philadelphia last year to reach out to young people in the community. He said they see themselves as uniquely positioned to contribute to a solution through preventing potentially violent situations from getting worse. NewsOne (NO): How is BLM organized to combat gun violence in Philadelphia? Asa Khalif (AK): We have defused and de-escalated at least 25 to 30 incidents last year, and 45 this summer. We know the players because we live in the community. When we get information, word on the street that there will be beef, often through Instagram or Facebook, it’s very easy for us to approach ‘Raheem’ and say, “Can I talk to you? I heard there’s a misunderstanding, could we have a conversation before it gets to a certain level.” A lot of this violence comes from misunderstandings. A lot of times the brothers don’t even want to engage in violence. A lot of it is ego, peer pressure, false pride. And they’re looking for a way out. Intervening helps both parties to save face and walk away without looking like a quote, punk. We are concerned about this issue. We live in the community. The myth is we only show up when there’s a police shooting. We are on the front lines when it comes to gun violence because it affects us. We have loved ones who have been victims. NO: The interventions you described are important, but what’s the bigger solution? AK: Gun violence is a virus in our community. We know the virus; we’ve detected the virus, and we know where that virus is coming from. It’s up to us, organizers and people in the community. We have the cure. We have to come together as people of color to make sure gun violence is not an issue in our community. There’s a church on every block in our community, and those churches go behind safe walls and preach to themselves. It’s time now for ministers and congregations to link up with the activists, and not be afraid of BLM activists who have been deemed militant. As I’ve said when the movie Black Panther was playing, we–the activists, community leaders and mothers and fathers who are standing in our communities–are the superheroes. Black Panther, Wonder Woman, Batman, those are people who don’t exist and are not coming to save our community, and so we have to pick up the torch. In #Philadelphia we #WearOrange , we march and we say #Enough to Gun Violence @MomsDemand pic.twitter.com/aGkcyWXa5R — Jme B GunSafety (@archymomjaime) June 2, 2018 NO: Do you share Amnesty International’s view that the government bears a lot of blame for the gun violence? Aside from the legislative failures toward achieving gun control, has other government policies contributed to the problem? AK: I’ve been extremely critical of the federal government, which has always had a hand in the flow of guns into the community. We have to hold the government and gun dealerships accountable. We need to call on law enforcement, instead of occupying our community and shooting us in the back, to do the job you were sworn to do. If you’re going to rush into our community, make sure the busts you do are the gun dealers, the ones who are making the big dollars, not ‘Raheem’ who sold a gun for 50 bucks. The government is also 99 percent to blame in setting the conditions that make gun violence an issue. We have poverty in our community, unemployment, our schools are not as well-funded as white counterparts. It all gives a sense of hopelessness. When you have those conditions and you have no self-worth, it’s very easy to pick up a gun and shoot someone who looks like you because you don’t value yourself. If you give people hope, you’ll see a turnaround. Give a man a job and you’ll see a drop in crime. Young people need a place to go and a purpose, an alternative to standing on the corner and selling drugs.
