Father-Son Duo Launch Company To Increase Black Wealth

A Virginia-based father-son duo is on a mission to empower the Black community to generate wealth. Entrepreneurs Kevon L. Chisolm and his 11-year-old son Kamari launched an investment consulting company that promotes Black economic empowerment, Black News reported. Black WallStreeter Consultation Services, launched by a father & son duo from Virginia, is designed to help individuals increase their wealth… through the creation of investment clubs! #blackpreneur #blackceo #shopblack https://t.co/SRQcKJPLzx — Black News (@BlackNews) March 15, 2019 The company—dubbed Black WallStreeter Consultation Services—was created as an avenue to educate individuals about the importance of financial literacy and provide them with the tools and resources to reach their monetary goals. Aside from providing consulting services and informative workshops, the company will cultivate community by establishing investment clubs where people can pool money to make lucrative investments. Chisolm has extensive experience in the wealth management industry. He’s served at the helm of an investment firm called Umoja Investments for over a decade. Chisolm also penned a book titled Financial Legacy: Building Wealth Through Investment Clubs . He says that through the platform he and his son created he hopes to educate and empower the Black community to make smart decisions when it comes to money so that they can alleviate financial burdens. “When we created Black WallStreeter Consultation Services, we wanted to address a few main concerns individuals have about their financial wellness,” said Chisolm in a statement. “For example, many of our clients are unsure of how to pay for college tuition, save for retirement, buy a new home or start a new business. An investment club is the ultimate opportunity to increase personal financial goals and ease financial worries.” Chisolm and his son believe that it’s never too early to start learning about financial wellness and encourage kids as young as 8-years-old to attend the seminars so they can take solid financial values with them when they step into adulthood. The father and son aren’t the only ones spreading awareness about financial literacy within the Black community. Her passion for advocacy led her to run for the student body president role at her school. Her win was historic; aside from being the first African American woman to be at the helm of the student government, she is the first woman in two decades to take on the position. For Deas, it’s all about representation. She hopes that her accomplishment inspires underrepresented individuals to change the status quo and boldly step into spaces that they’ve historically been locked out of. “Being the first African American female to hold the position is awesome. You know, I love to be that representation. Being the first female in 20 years is just as great because it shows that we’re moving forward,” she said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “If you want something, you go and you do it. You try and do it. There’s nothing stopping you but yourself.” Among the top issues on Deas’ agenda is combatting homelessness amongst the student population and creating resources for individuals battling with mental illness issues. She will be inaugurated next month and is slated to step into her role in May. Black students are rising up the ranks within campus groups and making history while doing so. In 2018, Kristine E. Guillaume was appointed to lead the Harvard Crimson making her the first Black woman to become president of the publication since it launched in 1873. Twitter Had A Lot To Say About The New Trailer for ‘Avengers: End Game’

Read the original:

Source: Jesse Grant / Getty The official trailer for Avengers: End Game is finally here, and of course, people have a lot to say about it. Since the second Avengers: Infinity War dropped in April of last year, Marvel fans were already asking a million questions about what’s going to happen in the sequel–and now, we are closer than we’ve ever been to finally seeing what happens to our favorite Avengers squad. Disney dropped the brand new Avengers: Endgame trailer on Thursday, which immediately caught fans by surprise. The short movie teaser shows our heroes–including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Captain Marvel and many more–trying to figure out how to move forward with their lives after Thanos destroyed half of their universe with one simple snap of his finger. The trailer starts with some ominous voiceover work from the one-and-only Tony Stark, who begins,  “God, it seems like a thousand years ago I found my way out of that cave, became Iron Man, realized I loved you. I know I said no more surprises, but, I was really hoping to pull off one last one.” Here, he’s addressing who we can only assume is his soon-to-be-wife Pepper Potts. As the trailer continues, we see a lot of very nostalgic flashback moments for some of our favorite heroes like Ant Man, Hawkeye, Captain America, and more. The trailer itself is pretty melancholy, showing just how serious life and its stakes have gotten since Thanos’ decimations–but it’s not all bad news. At the end of the trailer, we get to see a brand new scene where Thor summons his hammer, which whizzes right past Captain Marvel’s head without causing a flinch. In this very telling introduction for the new hero, she smirks as Thor turns to Black Widow and says, “I like this one.” If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, join the rest of the world and watch it down below: Of course, with a new trailer comes some new reactions, and people are going absolutely crazy for this preview of what’s sure to be the biggest movie of 2019. Email Submit Raz B took to social media last night (March 12) to announce that he was quitting B2K ’s Millennium Tour because he doesn’t feel safe. The video has since been deleted but in a clip saved by the Shade Room, Raz B sayas, “I don’t feel safe because I feel like Chris Stokes is around. So guess what? I’m off the tour. Good luck to everybody. No disrespect to Omari because he’s my brother. Omari, if you want to come talk to me and you want me to do the tour, I’ll do the tour, but I’m officially off the tour.”   B2K’s Raz B posted this video announcing he was off the much-anticipated Millennium Tour as he didn’t feel “safe” because he felt former manager Chris Stokes “was around”. pic.twitter.com/2pCD54R3n1 — Dionne Grant (@DionneGrant) March 13, 2019 The singer went on to say, “Oh, guess what? I guess we’re about to shoot the new ‘Surviving Chris Stokes’ movie, right? So call Lifetime ’cause I’m ready to talk.” Over the past decade, Raz B accused his group’s former manager, Chris Stokes, of molesting him as a kid. He suspected the other group members were sexually abused, too, but Omarion issued a statement around the time of the allegations denying it. Stokes has also denied the claims. It’s unclear what truly went down over the past week or so, but today Raz B returned to social media to offer insight on the sudden decision he decided to overturn.   Raz B is back on tour…… pic.twitter.com/WuDEcQuyGV — Kryssy (@K_Cherelle_07) March 13, 2019 “I am a work in progress,” he said. “I look forward to continuing the Millennium Tour for our fans. You all deserve it!”   See fan reactions below:   If B2K is really cool with Chris Stokes being at their concerts and backstage they're all trash af. It's one thing to not know how to move because you're a child, but y'all grown ass men. I see that as intimidation. He knows what he did to Raz B. He's sick af. — B (@BSimone24) March 13, 2019 I don’t think it’s funny that Raz B gonna have to quit the tour because these bum B2K niggas in love with Chris Stokes so much they don’t realize their victims of child abuse and molestation — Oliver Queen-Pope (@Sammy_Socialite) March 13, 2019 I don’t know what mental state Raz B was in when he made that announcement video… but I really don’t want people out here dragging that man. Like… y’all can’t choose which VICTIMS you gone support and who you’re not. Clearly SOMETHING happened. — Cousin Lucky (@ImFinallyAmber) March 13, 2019 The other members of B2K never took Raz B seriously about the Chris Stokes allegations. They called him gay, harassed him, threatened him, and openly called him a liar. I’m shocked he agreed to do the tour in the first place. But imma need them to get it together — Wendy Whaleiams (@iyanuuuuh) March 13, 2019 All predators should be cancelled right, y'all know Chris Stokes abused those B2K boys & were all excited to see some tour he'll profit from. See original here:

Source: Jason LaVeris / Getty March is Women’s History Month and we’re celebrating 31 different women over the month, spanning the worlds of entertainment, politics, local, global and beyond. Entry number 12 on our list gave us life as an awkward black woman trying to make it and in turn created a platform for others to create short films, present them to the world and more. On top of that, she has a hit show on HBO that everyone tunes into on Sunday night and causes workplace debates and then some the next day. It’s power. The more she continues to stretch what it means to be a black woman in search of herself and owning her own talents and confidence on TV? The more black girls and others who are inspired by her will take that mantle to an even higher level. Meet Issa Rae, a TV maverick and one of our 31 inspiring women. Issa Rae supposedly made it when Insecure , her HBO television series co produced with TV vet Larry Wilmore became one of the more talked about shows in 2016 but if you dive deeper into her history, whether it be writing her own scripts or crafting web series then you know Issa Rae and Issa Rae Productions have been crafting platforms and doing amazing things on YouTube for a minute. She’s a best-selling author and actress now and as Insecure is set to return in the fall for its fourth season, the sky is the limit for Los Angeles born writer and actress. What helps Issa? Knowing that it’s not all on her. “Find a good team. Find a good team,” she told Women’s Health . “It matters…It’s enabled me to not lose my mind.” FUN FACT: She and singer Jidenna both attended Stanford University and she graduated in 2007. Years later, Jidenna appeared in Season 1 of Insecure as “Chris”. QUOTE: “I thrive on obstacles. SMH: Police Department Under Investigation After Brutally Beating And Pepper Spraying Unarmed Black Man [Video]

An investigation has been launched on the West Midlands Police department after video surfaced of officers aggressively hitting and pepper spraying a Black man inside an unidentified room before shutting the door on the person recording. Sources claim that the victim was a Muslim, which allegedly lead to the violent attack — however, officers have not confirmed. The department released a statement saying: “On February 25 officers were called by a doctor who was conducting a mental health assessment in Sandwell. During the assessment, the 38-year-old man became violent and assaulted the doctor with a metal crutch, so police were called. The video circulating on social media shows edited footage of officers who attended but does not show the events which lead up to his restraint.” West Midlands Police didn’t take responsibility for the officers volatile behavior, but they did refer themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. After the assault, the unidentified victim was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody. He is currently receiving treatment in a mental health facility.
