A Salt Lake Tribune poll in June found that Love had just a six-point lead over McAdams. The congresswoman was fighting for her political life while embroiled in a campaign finance scandal . Love was in hot water with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) over her team improperly raising more than a million dollars for a primary election that was never expected to happen. During the Fox interview, Love lashed out about the political ads against her. “They want to just do character assassination, and I’m telling you what Brian, I’m not going to allow them to do that,” she told host Brian Kilmeade . “This is absolutely — it’s below me. … This is something that’s happening not just to me, but around the country. This is the way that they’re trying to win. They will buy, they will cheat, they will assassinate your character to try and win.” But Love has also fired off negative ads, tying McAdams to President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in one of them. Mo Money: LeBron James, Ava DuVernay, & More Make The Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Most Powerful People In Entertainment’

Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images THR ‘s Most Powerful People In Entertainment List Revealed Every year, The Hollywood Reporter releases their list for the most powerful people in the entertainment industry–and this year’s selection of 100 entertainers is hot off the presses. The annual pecking order of showbiz power has been revealed, and there are some familiar names on the list. Coming in at number 94 is Michael B. Jordan , who not only took on his first villain role in  Black Panther  this year, but is also is taking the lead as a change agent, working with WarnerMedia on the creation of its companywide inclusion policy. A few spots up at number 88 is director and producer Ava DuVernay . She told the publication that the biggest surprise of 2018 is “that people were surprised by the success of  Crazy Rich Asians .” She recently signed on to direct her first superhero project, Warner Bros.’ DC movie  The New Gods . Ryan Coogler comes in at 84 for his work directing Black Panther, which became the highest-grossing superhero stand-alone film of all time this year. It was just recently announced that he will also be executive producing LeBron James’  Space Jam  sequel. At 79 is Tiffany Haddish , who just scored her first Emmy and a deal at HBO. Coming in at number 75 is LeBron James . Though he already had an incredible career prior, this year alone he officially became a Los Angeles Laker, announced his Space Jam sequel, gotten scripted series with both NBC and The CW, along with several HBO series and a Shut Up And Dribble documentary. Kevin Hart makes number 69 on their list, who has sequels for both  Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle  and 2016’s  Secret Lives of Pets in the works. Number 55 is Jordan Peele , who produced Spike Lee’s  BlacKkKlansman , set up a  Twilight Zone  reboot at CBS All Access and teamed with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot for HBO horror drama  Lovecraft Country this year. Donald Glover makes number 42 on THR ‘s list. His music video for “This Is America” has racked up 385 million YouTube views since May along with his FX series  Atlanta  being Emmy-nominated for another year. Other notable entertainers to make the list include Dwayne Johnson, Shonda Rhimes, and Tyler Perry.

….It might have been longer than ten years, to be honest. It’s been that long that I can’t even remember the last time. I became imprisoned in my body by the false standards of beauty highlighted by Western culture. My thighs have always been thick. Pencil skirts ride up on my hips and my jean shorts and pants always wear in the thigh area. Shorts never have “space” when I wear them. You know what I mean: when you see them in magazines and advertisements and the thighs don’t take up all the space. Jean shorts always look like biker shorts on me. Always. I went to New Orleans and y’all it was hot. It’s been my summer of body liberation, where I’ve decided I’m not hiding parts of my body that I don’t like and rather embracing them. It was too hot for jeans and even too hot for a skirt. My wardrobe was limited because I had only what I packed. I had some Black biker shorts. I took them out of my suitcase and put them on. I had to fight the voice in my head that said, “You’re thighs are too big to wear these shorts.” I put them on and went about my day. …and you know what? Nobody died. Nobody stared. It was about more than wearing shorts. It was about seeing myself as beautiful and challenging the world to meet me where I am at, vs the reverse. It was about all the women who enslave themselves to a mirror based on the ideals of men and society. There is a dangerous privilege within the plus size and body positive community where we praise and uplift specific bodies within our community. You can be fat, but only with a flat stomach. Thicc is only defined as hourglass. Yes to being a size 18, but you better not display any cellulite. If your arms are heavy, you are imprisoned to 3/4th’s tops. To me, this is equally dangering to the female psyche as feminism can be to Black women due to the divide. Body liberation is a process and one that I have spent the summer diligently working toward. I’m working towards being a woman made woman vs a man-made woman. And it started with shorts. Oceans 8 , starring  Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Awkwafina, and of course, our girl Rihanna, is finally out on DVD. The film hit theaters on June 8th and if you haven’t gotten to see these awesome lady thieves attempt to pull off a well calculated heist at the Met Gala, this would be the perfect opportunity to catch it from the comfort of your own home. Also, the fairly odd hip hop pairing that is Kanye West and Lil Pump released a very intriguing video that seems to be breaking YouTube records. The track is called “I Love It” and gives us Missy Elliott or Busta Rhymes feels. It featured Adele Givens and was directed by Spike Jonze. The video recently broke a worldwide YouTube record when it garnered over 76 million views in its first week. Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” previously held the record. I guess no matter what side of the fence you’re on with Kanye, you can’t help but to admit that he’s provocative and he gets the people going.
