In case you missed it, the editors at Vogue Italia lost their rabbit a** minds last week and promoted a trend they called “Slave Earrings” . They even included a description that included the sentence “If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of color who were brought to the southern United States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom.” When the world reacted appropriately to the ridiculousness, Vogue.it changed the caption on the article to “Ethnic Earrings”… as if that made it better. Their editor even tried to claim that the word they used in Italian that was translated to “Slave” really did mean “ethnic style”… And if you think that’s pure bulls***, Iman agrees with you. I’m a huge fan of Franca Sozzani and Vogue Italia’s website because they have a whole section on black models. Is it controversial? Yes. The naming of it, I don’t get it. I sometimes wonder in this age of reality shows has it become part of the language-the more controversy the more [buzz] it creates. But yeah, I didn’t like it. Slave does not make it ethnic. Mind you, it’s not lost in translation-the word slave, we know what it is. They might as well have called them “n**** earrings.” For somebody like Franca Sozzani, who did that whole black issue for Vogue, somebody should have said something. The Breakfast Club inducted Ray J into their “Ho Appreciation” Hall of Fame last week and while he didn’t seem proud of the “honor,” he admitted he has finally grown weary of smashing random broads. Charlamagne and Envy asked him about his thoughts on his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s upcoming nuptials and he said he wishes her “the best.” Ray J also talked about his plans for his upcoming album, a new reality show in the works and his book “Death of a Cheating Man” which is scheduled to drop on Valentine’s Day. These fugged up senators never cease to amaze us!!! Emails shared with The Indianapolis Star suggest that state Rep. Phillip Hinkle — responding to a local posting on Craigslist — offered a young man $80 plus tip to spend time with him Saturday night at the JW Marriott hotel. The emails, sent from Hinkle’s publicly listed personal address, ask the young man for “a couple hours of your time tonight” and offer him cash up front, with a tip of up to $50 or $60 “for a really good time.” he email exchange is in response to the Craigslist posting in which the young man — who lists his age as 20 in the ad but says he is 18 years old — says, “I need a sugga daddy.” The young man told The Star that they met, but that he tried to leave after the man told him he was a state lawmaker. He said the lawmaker at first told him he could not leave, grabbed him in the rear, exposed himself to the young man and then later gave him an iPad, BlackBerry cellphone and $100 cash to keep quiet. When contacted by The Star about the emails, Hinkle, a Republican who represents portions of Pike and Wayne townships, did not contest the emails but said, “I am aware of a shakedown taking place.” Asked what he meant by shakedown, Hinkle would not elaborate. He directed further questions to his attorney. Hinkle’s lawyer, defense attorney Peter Nugent, said he was unable to say what Hinkle meant by a “shakedown.” Nugent said he is investigating the situation, but he does not know what happened Saturday. Nugent said he has not filed a police report and does not yet know whether he will. Asked whether he had seen the emails and the Craigslist posting, Nugent said, “Oh, I’ve seen some emails, but not all of them.” He would not be more specific. The Craigslist ad was posted at 7:37 a.m. Saturday. The ad shows two pictures of Kameryn Gibson, shirtless with pants pulled below the top of his underwear. The ad’s text features one written line: “Email me and I’ll tell you everything you need to know!” Forty-seven minutes later, he received a response from phinkle46 @comcast.net, with the email signature “Sent from Phil’s iPad.” “Cannot be a long time sugar daddy,” the email reads, “but can for tonight. Would you be interested in keeping me company for a while tonight?” The email offers “to make it worth (your) while” in cash, and offers a personal description: “I am an in shape married professional, 5’8″, fit 170 lbs, and love getting and staying naked.” Fifteen minutes later, Kameryn Gibson replied: “Yes I can!” He also sent along his phone number. Wowwww…there’s just too much to this story as the Senator’s wife was confronted and everything!! Megan Gibson said she then began receiving a series of calls from various family members — including from Hinkle’s son-in-law, demanding that his wife see proof of the emails. Megan Gibson dropped off her brother then returned to the JW Marriott, where she showed Hinkle’s daughter the emails. Megan Gibson said on her way back, she received another call from Hinkle’s wife. “The first thing she said, she was like, ‘OK, we will give you $10,000 not to say anything,’ ” said Megan Gibson, who said she was now becoming scared. “I was like, ‘OK,’ and I hung up the phone.” She soon got another call — from the Marriott hotel. It was Hinkle. Megan Gibson told Hinkle that she had informed his wife and family that he was gay. And this season, the It Butt belongs to Pippa Middleton. In the most bizarre trend piece I’ve read in a long time, the Times of London (via the Telegraph) speculates that Pippa has replaced former butt greats J. Lo, Beyonce, Serena Williams, and Kim Kardashian as everybody’s gluteal role model. Says plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta, The buttocks have been an increasing and escalating interest over the last four to five years, but the iconic figures were Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian. Both have tremendous curves and large buttocks. While lots of people love the overall shape of those women, many felt those derrières were just a bit too big. A bit too … ethnic? Mendieta doesn’t go there. Instead, he continues, [E]ver since the royal wedding, Pippa Middleton has become the new queen of the booty. She opens the doors to those who did not know you could have a small, shapely and perky backside without the large size. These ninjas got the “And what?!?” face There’s been a lot of controversy over the last few weeks surrounding the Poverty Tour organized by Tavis Smiley and Cornel West. The pair has used the nine-state, 18-city event to both highlight the struggle of the nation’s poor as well as to criticize President Obama for what they say is a laissez-faire attitude toward economically marginalized Americans. But in response, they have been labeled as self-promoting, self-serving Obama haters. They have become pariahs in some circles. The blowback has even become personal and nasty, with the comedian Steve Harvey recently calling the duo “Uncle Toms” and the Rev. Al Sharpton and radio personality Tom Joyner taking various shots at them. But as Smiley sat on the Poverty Tour bus on Friday headed to Memphis, Tenn., the final stop on their trip, he said the tour had gone exactly the way he and West had planned. “I am very clear on who I am and who I am not, what I can do and what I can not,” he said during a phone interview. “I have a platform that I can use to bring awareness, to draw attention and create a conversation.” He then rattled off a list of news outlets that covered some aspect of the tour, including “Nightline,” C-Span and CNN, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, Life Magazine, The Root, The Nation, the Associated Press, NBC, CBS, and The Huffington Post. “The tour did everything it was supposed to do,” he said. “And its not just about raising awareness, it’s about starting a dialogue about poverty and the poor in this country. I don’t get intimidated by haters. Not only are we not intimidated, if we had more resources and time, we would extend the tour,” Smiley said. “The question that I would pose to the critics is not why are we doing what we are doing or saying, it’s ‘if you care about poor people why aren’t you doing anything?’” All the hate the people are tossing Smiley and West’s way hasn’t fallen on numb ears… “For me it hurts, when this jumped off a few years ago and I was the one person nationally and personally raising questions of accountability,” Smiley said. “They wanted Barack Obama to win by any means necessary. I got that then and I get it now, but it hurts and I shed a lot of tears, had a lot of conversations with Dr. West.” “So, it hurts, and it brings me to tears, but at the end of the day I don’t know any other way to live,” he added. “And so what I’ve said to black people is I love you and ain’t nothing you can do about it. These Negroes have tried, but I love them anyway.” Boo-f’n-hoo. Mexican police arrested the suspected leader of a brutal drug gang called “The Hand with Eyes” and he has confessed to helping carry out or ordering more than 600 murders, authorities said Thursday. Oscar Osvaldo Garcia Montoya, 36, was arrested in an overnight raid on a presumed safe house on the outskirts of Mexico City, State of Mexico Attorney General Alfredo Castillo said at a news conference. “The Hand with Eyes” is one of the groups blamed for bringing the drug violence typical of northern Mexico to Mexico City and its surrounding areas. The organization is known for extreme violence, including decapitations. Many of its victims have been drug dealers and rivals killed as the group fought for control of drug sales in Mexico state, an area that includes many of the poor suburbs ringing the capital. The gang spread terror by dumping severed heads in the streets of towns surrounding Mexico City. Castillo said Garcia is a deserter from the Mexican marines who worked as a bodyguard for major cartel figures including Edgar Valdez, aka “La Barbie,” a top assassin for the Beltran Leyva cartel until he was arrested in 2010. With the capture or death of Valdez and most of the leaders of the Beltran Leyva cartel, Garcia split off and formed his own group. The bushy-haired Garcia gazed coolly when he was paraded before journalists Thursday, held firmly by two masked police officers. Castillo said Garcia had received some training from members of the Guatemalan special forces called the “Kaibiles,” who are known for massacres during the Guatemalan civil war that ended in the 1990s. Some of them are believed to have been hired by Mexican drug cartels. Source
