Head Yahoo Reporter Fired After Racist Comment Caught On Audio The GOP ratchetness is at an all-time high as the Republican National Convention continues. Just days after an RNC attendee threw peanuts at a black reporter while saying “this is how we feed animals,” a chief Yahoo reporter was fired after making highly insensitive comments about “black people drowning” (due to hurricane Issac) while Money Mitt and the RNC party on. Yahoo News has fired its Washington bureau chief after he was caught on a microphone saying Mitt Romney and his wife were “happy to have a party with black people drowning.” Company spokeswoman Anne Espiritu said Wednesday that David Chalian’s remark was inappropriate and does not represent Yahoo’s views. She says Yahoo is apologizing to the Republican presidential candidate and his supporters, and has reached out to the campaign to convey the message. Chalian made the remark during a moment before Yahoo began its live coverage of the Republican convention on Tuesday evening. Yahoo is streaming coverage in association with ABC News. The remark is an apparent reference to the Republican convention happening as Hurricane Isaac hits the Louisiana coast. The hits just keep on coming …. Source
Talk about lowering the standard! New Jersey school officials in the Town of Bayonne have officially lowered the passing grade for their students from 70% to 65%…which in reality is a “D”. SMH By lowering the standard for passing grades, the Bayonne Board of Education has certainly gained the attention of local parents, shopping today for school supplies.”The Education Board should focus more on teaching and less on testing and scoring,” one parent said. The previous passing score for each grade was 70, as of this school year it will be 65. The Board says the change brings Bayonne into line with other Hudson County School Districts. Most parents Eyewitness News spoke to don’t like it. “It takes away student incentives to do better,” a parent said. The Board feels the change will help students at all levels of achievement. In a statement, officials say: “It is the marginal student that a passing grade of 65 will help. These students need to be given the opportunity to succeed. Having a passing grade allows students to become involved in extracurricular clubs, athletics, varsity sports, and other civic opportunities.” If you ask us, this is the craziest move any “school official” could make. Last year a Chicago mother was arrested after she allegedly drove her son and an accomplice to shoot a person they believed was a snitch. The year before, a dying 17-year-old took the name of his killer to the grave. “I know,” Robert Tate reportedly said when asked if he knew who shot him in the chest, “but I ain’t telling you.” Last week, eight people were struck in a drive-by shooting at 79th Street and South Essex Avenue, and community activist Andrew Holmes said some of them reportedly weren’t cooperating with police. “The persons have been struck by gunfire, they need to step up and speak up for us,” Holmes told NBCChicago.com. “Nine times out of 10, they knew who was firing the shot at them.” Ninjas will support the dumbest, most ignorant, “trends” but won’t do something that could help save the neighborhoods that they claim they represent. These militias aren’t playing… The recent arrests of several suspected domestic terrorists, and alleged murderers, who were active in the U.S. army have also revealed shocking ties to the Republican party: Isaac Aguigui, the Army private and alleged ringleader of a plot to assassinate Barack Obama and “take over” Ft. Stewart in Georgia, apparently served as a page at the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minnesota. That’s his mug shot after he was arrested for the alleged murder of Pvt. Michael Roark on the left. At right is a 2008 Reuters photo with the caption: “Republican National Convention page Isaac Aguigui watches from the edge of the floor at the start of the first session of the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota September 1, 2008.” Aguigui, according to Georgia prosecutors, financed a plot to kill the president, take over Ft. Stewart and poison apple orchards in Washington state with a $500,000 insurance settlement he got last year after his wife’s death. The group—its numbers are unknown—called itself F.E.A.R., for Forever Enduring, Always Ready. Aguigui is one of four soldiers charged in Roark’s death, allegedly because he was a “loose end” who threatened to foil their plans. According to the AP, Aguigui and his compatriots bore “distinctive tattoos that resemble an anarchy symbol,” but that’s the extent of the reporting thus far on their political motives. What the hell???? Here’s more on their plot via AP reports : Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday. Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group of active and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components. They allege the group was serious enough to kill two people – former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York – by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret. “This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk,” prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. “Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans.” One of the Fort Stewart soldiers charged in the case, Pfc. Michael Burnett, also gave testimony that backed up many of the assertions made by prosecutors. The 26-year-old soldier pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter, illegal gang activity and other charges. He made a deal to cooperate with prosecutors against the three other soldiers. Prosecutors said the group called itself F.E.A.R., short for Forever Enduring Always Ready. Pauley said authorities don’t know how many members it had. Burnett, 26, said he knew the group’s leaders from serving with them at Fort Stewart. He agreed to testify against fellow soldiers Pvt. Isaac Aguigui, identified by prosecutors as the militia’s founder and leader, and Sgt. Anthony Peden and Pvt. Christopher Salmon. All are charged by state authorities with malice murder, felony murder, criminal gang activity, aggravated assault and using a firearm while committing a felony. A hearing for the three soldiers was scheduled Thursday. Prosecutors say Roark, 19, served with the four defendants in the 4th Brigade Combat Team of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division and became involved with the militia. Pauley said the group believed it had been betrayed by Roark, who left the Army two days before he was killed, and decided the ex-soldier and his girlfriend needed to be silenced. Burnett testified that on the night of Dec. 4, he and the three other soldiers lured Roark and York to some woods a short distance from the Army post under the guise that they were going target shooting. He said Peden shot Roark’s girlfriend in the head while she was trying to get out of her car. Salmon, he said, made Roark get on his knees and shot him twice in the head. Burnett said Aguigui ordered the killings. “A `loose end’ is the way Isaac put it,” Burnett said. Also charged in the killings is Salmon’s wife, Heather Salmon. Pauley said Aguigui funded the militia using $500,000 in insurance and benefit payments from the death of his pregnant wife a year ago. Aguigui was not charged in his wife’s death, but Pauley told the judge her death was “highly suspicious.” She said Aguigui used the money to buy $87,000 worth of semiautomatic assault rifles, other guns and bomb components that were recovered from the accused soldiers’ homes and from a storage locker. He also used the insurance payments to buy land for his militia group in Washington state, Pauley said. In a videotaped interview with military investigators, Pauley said, Aguigui called himself “the nicest cold-blooded murderer you will ever meet.” He used the Army to recruit militia members, who wore distinctive tattoos that resemble an anarchy symbol, she said. Prosecutors say they have no idea how many members belong to the group. “All members of the group were on active-duty or were former members of the military,” Pauley said. “He targeted soldiers who were in trouble or disillusioned.” The prosecutor said the militia group had big plans. It plotted to take over Fort Stewart by seizing its ammunition control point and talked of bombing the Forsyth Park fountain in nearby Savannah, she said. In Washington state, she added, the group plotted to bomb a dam and poison the state’s apple crop. Ultimately, prosecutors said, the militia’s goal was to overthrow the government and assassinate the president. It’s not a game people. Domestic terror plots are very real. Let the slander ensue. 2016: Obama’s America didn’t come up short this weekend. The new conservative film that depicts Obama as defending his Father’s dreams of revenge debuted at Number 4 in the box offices this past Friday. It’s not clear where Obama’s America, distributed by Rocky Mountain Pictures, will end up for the weekend, although most box office observers believe it will end up in the $6 million range. On Friday, the documentary upped its theater count from 169 to 1,090, just as Republicans began heading for Tampa, Fla., where the Republican National Convention begins on Monday. Obama’s America did well in a number of large cities where it opened Friday, including Denver, Phoenix and San Diego. Smaller markets also turned in steller numbers, including Baton Rouge, La., Wichita, Ks., Grand Junction, Co., and Albany, NY. President Obama was out campaigning this week and met with students to address the current loan burden many of us are feeling. “He said, ‘The best thing you can do is shop around,’ ” the president said to boos from a youthful crowd of 3,500 in a sunny quadrangle at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio. “That’s it. That’s his plan. That’s his answer to young people who are trying to figure out how to go to college and make sure that they don’t have a mountain of debt.” Democrats contend that Ryan’s budget proposal, which failed to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate, would cut $115 billion from the Education Department, costing 1 million college students their Pell Grants over the next decade. Democrats argue those moves would punish many middle class and low income families trying to gain an education. The Romney campaign countered that Mr. Obama’s economic policies had resulted in a “lost generation” — graduates burdened by crushing debt, with little hope of repaying it because of the bleak job market. The campaign mocked the president’s answer to a question in a television interview in New Hampshire over the weekend, about why struggling college graduates should support his re-election. “Well, they can look at my track record,” Mr. Obama said. After decrying the tone of the president’s campaign, Mr. Romney waded into the muck on the stump Friday. Meanwhile his campaign aide assured reporters that the Republican presidential hopeful believes the president was born in the U.S. Mr. Obama, who has released his long-form birth certificate, was born in Hawaii. The Obama campaign immediately seized on the remark. “Throughout this campaign, Governor Romney has embraced the most strident voices in his party instead of standing up to them,” said Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign. “But Governor Romney’s decision to directly enlist himself in the birther movement should give pause to any rational voter across America.” Spontaneous remarks such as the one Mr. Romney made Friday are characteristic of the candidate. They have repeatedly thrown his campaign off message when Mr. Romney has made offhanded comments about the two Cadillacs his wife owns and his friendships with Nascar team owners, among others. But some Romney supporters at Friday’s event found the remark amusing. “That was good,” 77-year-old John Edmonds said, chuckling. “That fit perfectly.” Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, Mr. Romney’s running mate, again took some swipes at the president Friday over Mr. Obama’s 2008 comments that he had trouble winning certain working-class voters who “cling to guns or religion.” At the time, Mr. Obama was sharply ridiculed for the remark. “He said people from states like ours, we like to cling to our guns and our religion,” Mr. Ryan said, drawing on his own Midwestern roots. “I just have one thing to say: This Catholic deer hunter is guilty as charged and proud of it.” Wamp, wamp… These guys are so obvious with their stupid jokes and their not-so-subtle racist undertones.
