Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Mum On ‘Social Network’ Oscar Nods

‘We’ve said all we’re going to say about the movie,’ a Facebook rep says after Academy Awards announcements. By Gil Kaufman Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network” Photo: Columbia Pictures The creators and cast of “The Social Network” were in major freak-out-excitement mode on Tuesday when Oscar nominations were announced. Continuing a very successful awards-season streak, the film picked up eight Academy Award nominations on Tuesday morning — making it this year’s third most-nominated Oscar contender behind “The King’s Speech” with 12 and “True Grit” with 10, and tied with “Inception.” Among the categories “The Social Network” will compete in on Oscar night next month will be Best Picture, Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actor (Jesse Eisenberg), Best Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin) and Best Score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). Fincher, racking up his second career nomination, said he was “very grateful and humbled” by the nods and incredibly proud of his work on the film adaptation of the story of Facebook’s founding. One person who wasn’t joining in the group hug was Facebook founder and twentysomething billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, who isn’t portrayed in the best light in the film. A representative for the site told The Hollywood Reporter , “We’ve said all we’re going to say about the movie and the books … We’ve moved on from this discussion, and we think others have, too.” While Zuckerberg wasn’t exactly up for offering any congratulations, Eisenberg said he’d heard that the Internet mogul had thought the Oscar nominee had done a “nice job” portraying him in the movie. The film depicts Zuckerberg as a ruthless social climber who founded the popular social-networking website mainly to become more popular with the ladies — an image that the Facebook starter has rejected. He’s mostly kept mum on the movie, though he did tell Oprah Winfrey in September that he took some members of his staff to see a screening. “It’s a movie, it’s fun … I can promise you, this is my life so I know it’s not that dramatic,” he said. “The last six years have been a lot of coding and focus and hard work, but maybe it would be fun to remember it as partying and all this crazy drama.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Social Network.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . 50 Cent Says Dr. Dre’s ‘Track Record’ Makes Detox Highly Anticipated

‘You even have to credit both Eminem’s success and my success to Dr. Dre as a producer,’ Fif tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Josh Horowitz 50 Cent Photo: MTV News Dr. Dre’s Detox album is dropping this year, in spite of the uncertainty surrounding the actual release date. Kristen Stewart As A ‘Breaking Dawn’ Vampire ‘Scared Me,’ Elizabeth Reaser Says

‘Twilight’ co-star tells MTV News, ‘I thought, ‘This might not end well. She’s looking pretty pissed right now.’ ‘ By Terri Schwartz Elizabeth Reaser Photo: MTV News PARK CITY, Utah — Ever since Kristen Stewart spilled the beans at the that she had been filming “Breaking Dawn” as a vampire that day, it’s all we can think about when we get the chance to talk to one of her “Twilight Saga” co-stars. Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Esme Cullen in the film franchise, teased at the Sundance Film Festival this week that there have been some crazy vampire scenes on set recently. “There’s been some really cool stuff in the Cullen house with Bella,” Reaser revealed to MTV News. “There’s been some interesting transformations happening.” Sounds to us like director Bill Condon has been filming the famous “Breaking Dawn” birthing scene, and that Reaser got a chance to see Bella’s transformation into a vampire. already shared that the birthing scene will be shown from Bella’s perspective to keep with the film’s PG-13 rating , but as Reaser witnessed the whole scene unfold, what was her impression of Stewart’s transformation? “She scared me a little bit on Thursday, I’ll be honest with you,” Reaser said. “Because when vampires are newborns, they’re stronger than any other vampires, so for a second there I thought, ‘This might not end well. She’s looking pretty pissed right now.’ It was great.” Reaser’s praise of Stewart’s performance as vampire Bella matches with what co-stars Robert Pattinson and Peter Facinelli had to say about it at the Golden Globes. Pattinson told MTV News it felt like Stewart “wanted to do it the entire time.” “It’s really funny, it’s like a completely different environment on set when she’s a vampire and when she’s not,” he said. “I think she’s going to do it really well.” In the books, Bella becomes much more confident after transforming into a vampire, so it’s fitting that Stewart is coming into her own with the role. Facinelli jokingly credited vampire contact lenses as the real reason Stewart is doing so much better. “She’s doing really well. She looks fantastic,” Facinelli raved. “For some reason, once they put those contact lenses in, you look very statuesque.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Sean Bean On Playing ‘A Good Man For A Change’

Bean plays Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark in upcoming HBO drama. By Kara Warner Sean Bean in “Game of Thrones” Photo: Helen Sloan/ HBO The series premiere is still months away, but it’s never too early to talk about HBO’s upcoming epic “Game of Thrones,” based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy book series “A Song of Ice and Fire.” It’s a loaded, layered drama, but to summarize, think one part sword-wielding medieval fantasy, a la “Lord of the Rings,” and one part sex-charged fight for power, like “The Tudors” or “The Sopranos.” MTV News recently caught up with a few key cast members at the Television Critics Association press tour, where young star Emilia Clarke revealed the hazards of shooting racy scenes. We also spoke to actor Sean Bean, a veteran of sorts when it comes to the fantasy genre, although usually in roles of a villainous nature. In “Game of Thrones,” Bean plays Eddard “Ned” Stark, a noble commanding officer and Lord of Winterfell, the northernmost territory in Martin’s fictional world. Given Bean’s resume, particularly his work in “Lord of the Rings,” we asked the English actor whether he had any reservations in taking on another role in the fantasy genre. “I seem to be quite drawn to the medieval, magical fantasies, as it were,” he said. “It was such a good part, and I read the book and the character, and I just really wanted to play it, so I didn’t have any doubts whatsoever,” Bean assured us. He said diving into the world of “Thrones” was a completely new experience. “I wasn’t aware of the books at first, and I wasn’t aware of how big a following it had,” Bean admitted. “And then when I realized it, I talked to David Benioff, the writer, who I worked with on ‘Troy.’ He’s a great guy, does some great dialogue, and it’s just a wonderful production.” Bean went on to say that HBO’s involvement sweetened the deal. “Knowing you’ve got the backing of HBO and the quality of them, I thought, ‘Wow, this is a great role,’ ” he said. “[Ned is] a good guy as well, a good man for a change for me,” he said with a smile. Robert Pattinson Laughs Off ‘Breaking Dawn’ Bed Photo

‘They just give it all away,’ ‘Twilight’ star says about honeymoon picture. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Summit Entertainment Twilighters went crazy when a still from the upcoming “Breaking Dawn” flick was released. What was all the hubbub about? The photo featured Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) in bed on their fictional honeymoon. So, how did Pattinson feel about it being one of the first official looks from the flick? “I love how they release that for the first one,” he told MTV News sarcastically Sunday (January 16) on the Golden Globes red carpet. “They just give it all away.” Well, giving it all away seemed to be the theme of the photo (since it appears to show the couple having sex), and fans were salivating over the idea of finally getting the chance to see Edward and Bella get down onscreen. Pattinson laughed about what was running through his mind while shooting that scene, and told us the sex scenes with Stewart were no more awkward than with other actresses, such as his “Bel Ami” co-star Uma Thurman. “It’s always awkward, in a way, doing it with anybody,” he admitted. “But at the same time … it really depends on how it’s staged and stuff. It’s like doing Twister.” Also on Sunday night’s red carpet, Pattinson’s movie dad, Peter Facinelli, revealed some details about filming the big “Breaking Dawn” fight scene, leaking how much longer the cast will be onset with director Bill Condon: “We’ve been shooting the last two weeks with a lot of vampires,” he said. “I don’t want to give away too much, but if you’ve read the books, it’s the standoff with lots of vampires in play. There’s like 70 people going through the works at once. It’s a little maddening, but fun,” Facinelli continued. “We shot pretty much the ending of the two movies the other day,” he added. “But we shoot until mid-April.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered! “Cop Killer” Comes To Life In 2010, Most Deadly Year For Police Officers

If you remember the uproar that Ice-T’s rock group, Body Count, caused with their incendiary track “Cop Killer” then you can be sure that somehow, someway, the significant rise of police deaths will be tracked back the urban community. Two officers in a remote Alaska town were ambushed as they chatted on a street. A California officer and deputy were killed by an arson suspect with a high-powered rifle as they tried to serve a warrant. Two other officers doing anti-drug work were gunned down by men along a busy Arkansas highway. These so-called cluster killings of more than one officer helped make 2010 a particularly deadly year for law enforcement. Deaths in the line of duty jumped 37 percent to about 160 from 117 the year before, according to numbers as of Tuesday compiled by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, a nonprofit that tracks police deaths. There also was a spike in shooting deaths. Fifty-nine federal, state and local officers were killed by gunfire in 2010, a 20 percent jump from last year’s figures, when 49 were killed. The total does not include the death of a Georgia State Patrol trooper shot twice in the face Monday night in Atlanta as he tried to make a traffic stop. And 73 officers died in traffic incidents, a rise from the 51 killed in 2009, according to the data. Craig Floyd, director of the Washington-based fund, said the rise in fatalities could be an aftershock of the nation’s economic troubles as officers in some communities cope with slashed budgets. We salute all the men and women who work tirelessly, and for little pay, to make sure that our streets are as safe as possible. Clearly all cops aren’t good cops and to those crooked, racist, a**holes, we say…protect your neck, Karma is a b*tch! Source

Akon, Jason Derulo Make 2010 The Year Of The Self-Referential Song

Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Eminem also among the artists who have shouted out their own names in their tunes this year. By Jocelyn Vena Akon Photo: Matt Jelonek/ Getty Images This past weekend on “Saturday Night Live,” Akon joined the Lonely Island guys in a hilarious video for a new song called “I Just Had Sex,” in which the singer proudly sings his own name, as well as the group’s. , meanwhile also got self-referential at the VMAs, when she Auto-Tuned her way through a pre-taped bit with Best New Artist nominee Jason Derulo. And, to be fair, we here at MTV News have been obsessed with pop stars singing their own names in songs for the bulk of 2010, prompted by Derulo’s epic use of the device in several of his hits. Folks like Derulo, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj (“Right Thru Me”), Kanye West (“Dark Fantasy”) and, obviously, Akon join a list of two decades’ worth of pop artists who have taken it upon themselves to brand their tracks with their own names. In the ’80s, stars like Janet Jackson, Beastie Boys and New Kids on the Block proudly proclaimed who they were in their songs. Moving into the ’90s, “TRL” staples such as the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Kid Rock and Eminem all blasted their monikers on their tracks, letting fans know just who was singing or rapping through hits like Rock’s “Bawitdaba” and BSB’s “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” As the new millennium approached and the musical landscape became more and more flooded with pop stars, it became a regular practice, with everyone from Ciara to M.I.A. to Fergie to Beyonc
