The Trailer for Limitless Wants Us to Believe Bradley Cooper is a Dirty Writer

Here’s a Hollywood truism for Dec. 16: No matter how stringy the wig you put on Bradley Cooper looks, he’s still Bradley Cooper . Translation: He’s really good looking! Yet the trailer for Limitless would have us believe that Cooper was a dingy old writer (with John Cusack’s wig from Being John Malkovich ) and that only some crazypants clear pill — which has some deadly side effects, as we’ve learned — could make him look like “Bradley Cooper.” Riiiiight.

Bradley Cooper, Bruce Willis To Star In Next M. Night Shyamalan Project

‘Iron Man 2’ star Gwyneth Paltrow will also reportedly star in ‘Last Airbender’ director’s upcoming film. By Adam Rosenberg Bradley Cooper Photo: Gabriel Bouys/ Getty Images Director M. Night Shyamalan is preparing to release his first big-budget, effects-driven blockbuster, “The Last Airbender,” based on the Nickelodeon cartoon “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” on July 1. And his next original film is a project for which the stars now seem to be aligning. The Hollywood Reporter ‘s Heat Vision blog reveals that those stars include Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Bruce Willis, who are all “loosely attached” to headline the film. No plot details have been revealed, as is usual with Shyamalan, but the filmmaker has assistants ferrying his script between studio execs, who are observed by those same assistants and are expected to surrender the script immediately after finishing. “Lady in the Water” aside, Shyamalan’s films continue to make money, though his most recent efforts have fared poorly with critics. And nothing has performed as well as the director’s debut effort, “The Sixth Sense,” which starred Willis and earned almost $700 million in worldwide ticket sales. The actor also worked with Shyamalan on his “Sixth Sense” follow-up, “Unbreakable.” If Willis is cast in this mysterious “Airbender” follow-up, it would be the pair’s first time working together since 2000. Cooper, who is just coming off of smiling for the cameras in support of this summer’s “The A-Team” and presenting duties at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards , has a big 2011 coming up. He’ll star in the Todd Phillips-directed ensemble comedy “The Hangover 2,” reprising his role from last summer. He’ll also lead a cast that includes Robert De Niro, Anna Friel and Abbie Cornish in an adaptation of Alan Glynn’s novel “The Dark Fields.” Paltrow is also coming off of a big press push for her own work in 2010 summer blockbuster “Iron Man 2.” She’ll appear later this year with Leighton Meester, Tim McGraw and “Tron Legacy” star Garrett Hedlund in the country music drama “Love Don’t Let Me Down.” She’s also one of the sizable ensemble cast that’s assembled for Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion,” which also stars Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Laurence Fishburne. ‘The Karate Kid’ Defeats ‘The A-Team’ At The Box Office

Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan’s kung fu flick gets the better of Bradley Cooper’s new action film. By Josh Wigler Jaden Smith in “Karate Kid” The Box-Office Top Five #1 “The Karate Kid” ($56 million) #2 “The A-Team” ($26 million) #3 “Shrek Forever After” ($15.8 million) #4 “Get Him to the Greek” ($10.1 million) #5 “Killers” ($8.2 million) After a few relatively quiet weekends at the box office, this past weekend made it quite clear that the summer movie season is officially in session with “The Karate Kid” debuting in first place over “The A-Team.” The “Karate Kid” reboot — which actually focuses on kung fu, despite the misleading title — stars Jaden Smith as an American youth who moves to China and comes under the tutelage of a martial arts expert played by Jackie Chan. The film exceeded expectations with an estimated $56 million opening weekend, a very impressive result given the movie’s $40 million production budget. It goes without saying that Sony Pictures will look to turn out several more sequels starring Smith and Chan. While the “Karate Kid” franchise enjoyed a successful new beginning, the same can’t be said for “The A-Team,” director Joe Carnahan’s updated take on the 1980s television series of the same name. Despite the star power of actors like Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel and the promise of high-octane action sequences, the “A-Team” film adaptation only managed $26 million domestically and $15 million from foreign locations for a $41 million worldwide debut. It’s a poor performance considering the film’s reported $110 production budget, and it’s certainly a road bump in 20th Century Fox’s plan to turn “The A-Team” into a new tent-pole action franchise. The remainder of the box-office top five performed as expected, with “Shrek Forever After” continuing its impressive staying power with a $15.8 million third-place finish. Last weekend’s “Get Him to the Greek” and “Killers” landed in fourth and fifth place with $10.1 million and $8.2 million, respectively. Upcoming Releases The toys are back in town next weekend as “Toy Story 3” hits movie theaters nationwide alongside comic book adaptation “Jonah Hex.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Karate Kid” and “The A-Team.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
