Is Lady Gaga Team Edward Or Team Jacob? Monsters Weigh In

As ‘Eclipse’ opens nationwide, Gaga fans guess whether the pop star prefers vampires or werewolves. By James Montgomery Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit June 30, 2010: A date that every single Twi-hard has had circled on their calendars since February 2009, when Summit Entertainment announced that it would be the day they’d release “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” the third film in the ultra-profitable series. June 28, 2010: A date that every single little monster has had tattooed on their foreheads since this March, when Lady Gaga announced that it would be the day she’d be in Montreal to kick off the North American leg of her Monster Ball Tour , the latest run of her ultra-profitable jaunt. Naturally, MTV News has been all over both of those dates, but never have we combined the phenomena … until now. When we were up in Montreal, we asked some of Gaga’s little monsters a couple of “Twilight”-themed questions. First, do they think Gaga should contribute a song to the soundtrack of the next film in the series (that would, of course, be part one of “Breaking Dawn”)? And, perhaps most pressing of all, is Lady Gaga on Team Edward or Team Jacob? And while many we spoke to seemed to think Gaga should record a song for “Breaking Dawn” pronto (and it should be “scary,” “sexy” and/or “bloody”), the issue of Edward v. Jacob proved to be slightly more divisive. “She’s definitely Team Jacob, because he’s got a hot body [and] because he’s hairy,” Gaga fan Chiara Williamson said. “And she should totally do a song for the ‘Twilight’ [films]. … I think it would be about boys. Vampire boys.” “She’s Team Edward. … She’s all about the vampires,” Shareejah Daley countered. “Her latest video [‘Alejandro’] is more dark and vampire-y … but, even if she was [Team Jacob], I’d still love her.” It was pretty heated. But as showtime drew closer, more and more little monsters came out in support of Team Jacob — so many that it wasn’t even close by the time doors opened. And why would Gaga side with Jacob? For very compelling reasons, obviously. “She’s Team Jacob, because werewolves are so much sexier,” Evelyn Barake laughed. “[And] they’re bigger monsters than vampires.” “Team Jacob, because he’s more of a monster,” Danik Renaud added. “And [Gaga’s] whole ‘Paws up’ thing. … Jacob has paws, too.” Of course, not everyone was able to decide so easily. This is, after all, a pretty difficult question to handle on the spot. And just why should Gaga have to chose between just a vampire and a werewolf, really? “This is so hard, because in the books, you’re like ‘Team Edward,’ but in the movie, you’re like ‘Team Jacob,’ ” Ourania Zafiri sighed. “I’d say ‘Team Jacob,’ because he’s hot. Or, I don’t know. … Maybe she’s ‘Team Bella.’ ” Do you think Lady Gaga would be on either Twilighter team? Share your thoughts in the comments. Eclipse Director David Slade: ‘I Have No Idea Why Anyone Would Hire Me!’

When David Slade was announced as the director of the third Twilight film, Eclipse , it seemed like a risky proposition: he had only made two other movies ( Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night ), and both indicated a sensibility that might be too aggressive for the romantic Stephenie Meyer series. Perhaps that’s exactly what the franchise needed, though, as Slade’s turned in a well-received installment that’s a good deal more propulsive than Chris Weitz’s sluggish New Moon . The day after Eclipse’s Los Angeles premiere, Slade was still riding high from the audience’s reaction as he talked to Movieline about the tough shoot, his thoughts on the controversial Breaking Dawn , and the follow-up he definitely isn’t making next.

Is it a Movie, or Is it Toronto? 5 Insane Videos From the G20 Summit

Remember that scene in Children of Men where Clive Owen watches from the treeline as Michael Caine’s character jokes with the gunman to pull his finger? And then the shooter blows his hand clean off? Yeah, Toronto — you know which one I’m talking about, especially today as the city surveys the dystopian damage from the ongoing G20 Summit. Not surprisingly, it makes for riveting, ghastly online viewing as the user-generated videos mount; this is a location shoot no one would want a part of.

Eclipse Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg on Fans: ‘They’re Coming After Me a Little Bit Already!’

In many ways, Melissa Rosenberg has the Twilight franchise’s most difficult job: as screenwriter, she has to satisfy not just the original novelist Stephenie Meyer, but the actors (including Kristen Stewart, who famously won’t say a line if she doesn’t believe it), directors, and fans, too. The imminent Eclipse is her third crack at the series, and up next is the very controversial Breaking Dawn , which Rosenberg is busily splitting into two movies. In a candid interview with Movieline, Rosenberg discussed fan frustrations, her thoughts on Summit’s director selections, and just how she pictures that Breaking Dawn split.

Breaking Dawn Screenwriter Teases "Sensual Sex" Between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

This week’s red carpet premiere may have been in honor of Eclipse , but screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg took the opportunity to give fans a major tease about Breaking Dawn . A HOT, SEXY major tease, we should say! Speaking to Hollywood Life, Rosenberg opened up about Bella and Edward’s relationship in the fourth movie. She said: “I can tell you the sex scenes are going to be sensual and they’re going to be delicious. They’re going to be everything I would want them to be. They may not be as graphic as some people may want them, but I honestly don’t think graphic translates into hot. I don’t care if it’s PG-13 or R. I just want the hottest sex scene there is and I don’t necessarily think ‘graphic’ is the best way.” Kristen Stewart will break herself off a piece of Robert Pattinson in Breaking Dawn! [Photos: Splash News] In a word: Gulp! In nine words: Can Breaking Dawn hurry up and come out already?!?

‘Breaking Dawn’ Screenwriter Says Split Gives Films ‘Room To Breathe’

‘There’s a little more room to really expand and explore some of the mythology,’ Melissa Rosenberg says of final two ‘Twilight’ movies. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Melissa Rosenberg Photo: MTV News While “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is working on the “Breaking Dawn” scripts, she said the one hitch is trying to figure out where to break the book into two parts — but it’s a welcome challenge. “We’re still fudging around with that, not quite sure, but there’s a natural area in which to break it,” she told MTV News about her work on films, expected to start shooting later this year. “The first half is really about Bella as a human and a newlywed and then pregnant, and the second half is about her as a vampire and a parent, so somewhere in that transition is where the break is.” No matter what ends up happening in the films, Rosenberg is sure she will have plenty of room to do everything she and the fans want for the films. “What’s nice about having it be two films is that there’s room to breathe,” she said. “If it were to be one, it would so much condensing that I’d have to be leaving story lines by the roadside. “Here, there’s a little more room to really expand and explore some of the mythology,” she continued. “And we began that in ‘Eclipse,’ to be able to get into the invention of Riley’s backstory and the creation of Riley and some of the other characters. In ‘Breaking Dawn,’ there’s even more room to do that, and I’m having fun with that.” Rosenberg recently said she was unsure if she’d want to show Bella’s infamous birth scene onscreen in “Breaking Dawn,” explaining: “You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth. … It doesn’t mean it’s any less evocative of an experience.” Where do you think Rosenberg should split “Breaking Dawn”? Taylor Lautner Calls ‘Stretch Armstrong’ Superpower The ‘Worst’

‘It’s like the worst superhero power, possibly, to get,’ Lautner jokes of title character’s limb-extending abilities. By Eric Ditzian Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV News Taylor Lautner is looking to go from one shape-shifter to another. As the 18-year-old actor heads off in the fall to shoot the final two parts of the “Twilight” series for “Breaking Dawn” — slipping once again into the role of werewolf Jacob Black — he’s also got his eyes on his title role in “Stretch Armstrong,” a big-screen adaptation of the Hasbro action figure. As the title implies, this cinematic Stretch is an anxious spy who exposes himself to a formula that allows him to physically stretch his body to extremes. That power is hardly as cool as the ability to fly or shoot lasers from your eyes — in fact, it’s kinda lame — but as Lautner himself points out, that’s the point. “It’s like the worst superhero power, possibly, to get, and how you’re going to take that and use it for good and how you’re going to be creative with that [is the predicament],” Lautner told MTV News. The emphasis should be on the word “creative.” Unlike comic book franchises such as “Iron Man” or “Batman,” “Stretch” has no established story lines, giving screenwriter Nicholas Stoller a ton of latitude as he crafts the movie’s world. “The awesome thing with toys is it doesn’t give you a story line, so you get to create it,” Lautner added. “The development process for this movie has been awesome and it’s going to continue to be. I just can’t wait to see a script.” Right now, the actor is gearing up to shoot “Abduction” in the summer, followed by “Breaking Dawn” in the fall. Lautner is waiting to get his hands on the “Stretch” script before he slots the production into his schedule. There’s no set time for filming to commence on the 3-D film, which is slated for a 2012 release. “Nick [Stoller is] a genius, so I couldn’t be happier with the fact that he’s writing the script right now,” Lautner said. “I just want to see it.” Do you think Taylor will make a good superhero? Or is he forever Jacob Black in your eyes? Tell us in the comments! For breaking comic book movie news, columns and more — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘Breaking Dawn’ Screenwriter Is ‘Deep In the Middle’ Of Script

‘One of the biggest challenges is it’s really thick with mythology,’ Melissa Rosenberg reveals to MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Melissa Rosenberg Photo: MTV News Although the first of its two installments is more than a year from hitting theaters, the forthcoming “Breaking Dawn” already has Twilighters trying to predict how much of the books will make it to the screen. MTV News recently went in search of some inside scoop from screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg . Like you, we wondered just how much of the 754-page book we can expect to see. “I’m deep in the middle of it,” Rosenberg said of her progress on a script. “I’ve been working on it for several months now and it’s a bear, but it’s exciting.” Rosenberg, who has written the screenplays for all three “Twilight” films, also revealed that the “Dawn” adaptation is proving particularly challenging because of the sheer number of characters and the dense mythology behind it all. “One of the biggest challenges, it’s really true with all the novels, but probably more so with this one, is it’s really thick with mythology, there are a lot of characters,” she said. “The characters expand with the arrival of Carlisle’s friends. It’s really about who do you pull forward, where do you focus?” Rosenberg said that though the story always centers on the three main characters — Edward, Bella and Jacob — she wants to make sure to explore the body of myths that fuel the vampire series. “That’s the dance I’m playing throughout the entire thing,” she said. As for the cast of the “Twilight Saga,” they seem to have welcomed news that the final chapter in the series will be a two-part story. “I didn’t want to read the script that was just one [movie],” Kristen Stewart recently told MTV News . “It would have lacked so much because you just couldn’t cram the story into one. At least that was my opinion, so I’m really excited.” “Eclipse” opens June 30, and the first of the two “Breaking Dawn” films is scheduled for a November 18, 2011, release. What part of the book should absolutely make it to the “Breaking Dawn” movies? Tell us in the comments! We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24. ‘Abduction’ Adds Maria Bello, Jason Isaacs To Cast

Taylor Lautner-starring flick starts shooting in July. By Adam Rosenberg Maria Bello Photo: MTV News If you’re going to be abducted and raised by a new set of parents, you could certainly do a lot worse than Maria Bello and Jason Isaacs. The duo have been cast as the not-parents of Taylor Lautner in the John Singleton-directed thriller “Abduction,” according to Deadline New York . The story follows Lautner’s character as he sets out to learn who he really is after he finds his baby picture posted on a missing-persons website. The newly hired actors join an already-sizable cast that includes Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina, Lily Collins, Denzel Whitaker, Michael Nyqvist and, of course, “Twilight” heartthrob Lautner . With these last major roles squared away, production on the film is set to begin on July 12 in Pittsburgh. Bello is one of the stars in the ensemble comedy “Grown Ups,” out June 25, which features Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek and Maya Rudolph. She’ll also star with “New Moon” vampire Michael Sheen in “Beautiful Boy,” which has an unspecified 2010 release. Isaacs, who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the villainous Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” series, will star in the new Fox legal drama “Pleading Guilty” this fall. He and the rest of the “Potter” cast just wrapped production on the two-part series closer, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” Those movies hit theaters on November 19, 2010, and July 15, 2011. Lautner will shoot “Abduction” before joining his fellow “Twilight” cast members in the fall for filming on “Breaking Dawn,” which like “Deathly Hallows,” will be released in two parts. “Eclipse,” the third movie in Stephenie Meyer’s vampire romance series, arrives in theaters on June 30. Kristen Stewart ‘Not Worried’ About Her Next Career Move

‘I really just choose things instinctually,’ the ‘Eclipse’ star tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News Kristen Stewart has it pretty good these days. She’s the female lead in one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. She’s managed to continue to do work in smaller films. And she pretty much has her pick of any film she’d like to do next. But the “Eclipse” star said all she’s focused on next in her career is not having to really focus on anything. “I feel less [career pressure] because I’m in such a stellar position,” she told MTV News. “I feel really indulgent, like I feel it’s really cool to be able to say, ‘I don’t know [what I’m doing] for the next couple years.’ I’m gonna focus on being an actor. Like, I want to make movies and stuff.” Stewart does have some projects lined up, including the “Breaking Dawn” flicks and “On the Road,” but she’s not worried about her otherwise-clear docket. “I want to do other stuff, but right now, it’s really cool just being like, ‘I don’t know what I’m going to do next year, but this year I’m doing this.’ I’m doing ‘On the Road’ and ‘Breaking Dawn,’ and that’s all that I know that I’m doing.” Stewart’s next big career choices will be made the way all her other decisions are: from her gut. “I’m not good at planning out my career,” she said. “But if I was, I’d probably feel pressure, but because I don’t and I really just choose things instinctually, I’m not worried about it.” We’ll be live at the L.A. premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday, June 24.
