Screenwriter Teases PG-13, Vampire-Babyless Breaking Dawn

Beyond the recruitment of Bill Condon to direct it in two easy installments, the only thing the casual moviegoer really needs to know about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is that its source novel features some, er, significant childbirth complications by young mother Bella Swan. The franchise’s fans, who’ve pumped the franchise into the billion-dollar monolith it is, wanted the scene — plus the vampire sex that begets it — preserved from the start, PG-13 be damned. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg would officially like to start deflating those hopes. [Mild spoilers follow.]

Jackson Rathbone Excited To Have ‘Twilight’ ‘Family Reunion’ For ‘Breaking Dawn’

‘Eclipse’ star admits he knows little about film’s script, schedule. By Jocelyn Vena Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News The third movie in the “Twilight” saga, “Eclipse,” doesn’t hit theaters until July 2. But fans are already wondering when the crew will get together to film the last installment ( or two ) of the series. “Breaking Dawn” may have all the actors back on board , a release date and a director , but Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper Hale in the movies, admitted that he still has much to learn about the project. “I have not spoken to [“Eclipse” director] Bill Condon yet, but I’m excited to,” Rathbone told MTV News last week, when he was in Los Angeles for the MTV Movie Awards. “He’s an incredible director, [an] Academy Award winner. That’s amazing, so it’s just another awesome director to handle the ‘Twilight’ franchise. “[‘Twilight’ director] Catherine Hardwicke brought a very independent feel. [‘New Moon’ director] Chris Weitz kind of made it a little more beautiful and elegant and [‘Eclipse’ director] David Slade’s going a little darker… so I’m excited to see what Bill Condon does,” Rathbone continued. “I really have no idea. I haven’t even seen a script for ‘Breaking Dawn’ yet, to be honest. I’m right there with you, still waiting.” Rathbone admitted that he didn’t quite know the timetable for shooting “Breaking Dawn,” either. “I don’t! I could lie though! I will lie to you,” the “The Last Airbender” star teased. He then made up this scenario: “We’re filming it tomorrow, all of it in one day. We’re just gonna drink a lot of Red Bulls and we’re gonna have a green screen and go through it; no script even. We’re gonna make it up. You know what? We’re gonna try for all tomorrow.” Many of the elements of “Breaking Dawn” are still unknown, but Rathbone is certain of one thing: He’s happy that the whole cast is reuniting. “I just wanted the family to be together,” he said. “We grew up [together]. Every time we get to film with one another, it’s like a family reunion.” Related Photos ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

Sigourney Weaver To Co-Star With Taylor Lautner In ‘Abduction’

‘Avatar’ star will play Lautner’s character’s psychiatrist in the 2011 thriller. By Adam Rosenberg Sigourney Weaver Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Based on the latest casting announcement, you’d be forgiven for thinking that “Abduction” focuses on a kidnapping perpetrated by little green men: Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast of the John Singleton-directed thriller. Weaver is set to star opposite Lily Collins and “Twilight” lead Taylor Lautner . Weaver is perhaps best known for her roles in sci-fi epics like “Avatar” and the “Alien” series, but “Abduction” is very much grounded in the real world. Lautner stars as a young man who one day discovers his own baby picture on a missing persons website. Variety reports that Weaver will play his psychiatrist. The story comes from a spec script by newcomer Shawn Christensen. The movie is set to shoot this July in Pittsburgh, with plans for a 2011 release. Gotham Group and Vertigo are producing along with Lautner’s Tailor Made label. Weaver will next be seen starring with Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis and Betty White in the Disney live-action release “You Again.” She has a number of other roles lined up as well, including Greg Mottola’s sci-fi comedy “Paul,” “Clueless” director Amy Heckerling’s ” ‘Sex and the City’ with vampires” movie “Vamps” and the long-awaited third “Ghostbusters” film. Lautner will of course next be seen reprising his role as Jacob Black in “Eclipse,” which hits theaters on June 30. He’s also got comic-book adaptation “Stretch Armstrong” lined up, from a script by Nicholas Stoller (re-writing Steve Oedekerk’s original), which is planned for an early 2012 release. It is expected that Lautner will be back on-set to shoot the final chapter in the “Twilight” series, “Breaking Dawn,” before the end of the year, though Summit’s rumored plans to break the story into two films remain unconfirmed. Kristen Stewart Weighs In On ‘Wanted 2’ Rumors

‘I have nothing nailed down,’ ‘Eclipse’ actress says of playing the Angelina Jolie role in the sequel. By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Stewart Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage In late April, rumors began surfacing online that “Twilight Saga” star Kristen Stewart was in the running for the role originated by Angelina Jolie in “Wanted 2.” The story was that Stewart is director Timur Bekmambetov’s top choice to replace Jolie in the sequel, pitting her against the returning James McAvoy as reluctant assassin Wesley Gibson. If hired, Stewart would play “a young, ass-kicking assassin in the Fraternity.” While much has been hush-hush about the speculation since it was initially reported, the star is now speaking up about the casting talk, saying that nothing is set in stone yet. “Right now, I have two projects lined up,” Stewart told Moviehole.net . “I’m doing ‘On the Road’ this summer and then I’m doing ‘Breaking Dawn.’ So other than that I have nothing nailed down.” With it still unknown whether “Breaking Dawn” will be two movies or one, it seems that Stewart’s schedule is definitely filled up for the time being. Regarding her involvement in the upcoming film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road,” she said last month, “I am very much attached to a movie that has been trying to get made forever. Not that this is going to help it, but maybe I can just brag a little bit. I am super-excited about it, too. I am about to play Marylou in ‘On the Road.’ So that’s a big deal.” In the same interview, fellow “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner dished that he has yet to even think about filming “Stretch Armstrong.” “It’s not happening for a while though, about a year from now,” he said. “I’m doing a movie called ‘Abduction,’ which starts in about a month. Then ‘Breaking Dawn.’ And hopefully ‘Stretch’ after that.” Would you like to see Stewart in “Wanted 2”? Tell us in the comments!
