Joe Gendreau on The Bachelorette Elimination: Just Too Different From Emily

Joe Gendreau’s time to impress Emily Maynard expired this week. Reflecting on the non-love connection that earned him a rare one-on-one date boot on The Bachelorette Monday, he said it just didn’t work out. Nothing scandalous or incendiary about it. Just didn’t click. “I tried to keep the rose out of mind. I didn’t want to look at it as a challenge and be like, ‘I really want that rose,'” Gendreau said. “I wanted to see how my time was with her and entertain the idea of being able to hit it off with her.” “I thought it was going well, but ultimately didn’t work out. We really didn’t hit it off with each other. We are in different places in our lives.” “I’m a single, free-spirited individual. Emily, she is looking for someone more settled and committed to family and work.” To that effect, Joe’s “five-year-plan” seemed to be his undoing. “I said, ‘I want to be happy with no regrets’ in five years … I think she was more looking for more detail like, ‘I want to be here with these many kids.'” “I didn’t take offense. She’s determined in what she wants and she didn’t see that in me. I answered truthfully. That’s me being myself.” “I was not closed-minded about it. I want to have kids and marriage in my life one day, [but] I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.” “Whether she made the right decision is on her. After she made her mind up, I was content to move on. I was really happy with everything.” “We just didn’t click. She was very sweet, and I wish her the best.” As for who he thinks Emily Maynard’s ends up with in the end? “My money’s on Jef. He seems like a great guy, a caring individual, and he’s got some money. I’m sure that’s going to put me in a doghouse,” he said. “Arie and Sean will stick around too. And maybe Doug, the guy who got the first impression rose. They’re solid good guys, good character.” Sounds like someone’s been reading The Bachelorette spoilers … or watching the first two episodes on TV. That’s all we’ll say for now.

Britney Spears’ X Factor Contract Lets Her Leave Whenever She Wants, Report Claims

An interesting explanation of Britney Spears walking off The X Factor set Thursday has emerged in a new report on TMZ: She did because she can. The show wanted Spears so badly, they literally gave away the candy store … well not literally, although she could probably buy a candy store. With a deal paying her $15 million for one season, Britney is raking it in, and that’s not even all. Her contract basically gives her carte blanche. Spears has the right to do things during production that are not “normal,” insiders say, and that includes taking breaks whenever she feels like it . As one source put it, “Simon is a shrewd businessman who knew Britney could make his show and he was willing to give her just about anything.” Guess so. And hey, look at us talking about The X Factor in May! Yesterday, Britney walked off the set during the very first taping, leaving behind an empty judge’s chair while four contestants did their thing. Sources connected with the production say Britney was “overwhelmed” and left. She sort of denied this on Twitter, but would anyone be surprised? People who were at the taping claim she was upset by the audience reacting negatively to some of her comments, then abruptly peaced out. Howard Stern’s right. This could be a train wreck . But highly-rated! [Photo: WENN.com]

‘Glee’ Cast ‘Not Surprised’ By Lindsay Lohan Cameo Drama

‘I mean, you never really know what’s true and what’s not,’ Lea Michele tells MTV News about Lohan’s appearance on the show. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan on “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/ FOX On Tuesday night, the long-hyped Lindsay Lohan episode of “Glee” hit the airwaves. Although her appearance was short, it was also full of sweet, self-deprecating humor. The actress, playing herself, was able to make cracks about her contentious public image. Joking on the show that she’s “in full ‘image re-branding mode’ here, people,” Lohan appeared as a judge at Nationals choir competition in Chicago, where the Gleeks of the New Directions were performing for all the glory. Lohan’s glory may have lasted only two minutes and 46 seconds, but she packed some punches, even taking a shot at “The Voice,” which has been going head-to-head with “Glee” network Fox’s own “American Idol” this season. “I show up here and there isn’t even a red button I can push and a chair that can spin me around, where I can then point at a kid onstage and say, ‘I want to work with you’? I’m seriously firing my manager.” Leading up to her cameo, there had been lots of chatter that LaLohan may not have been all that professional about the gig. After being cast on the show in March , rumors began to spread weeks later that the actress was late to set because she had been hitting the party scene right before she had to shoot. While co-star Perez Hilton (who also played a judge on the episode) skirted around the issue when MTV News caught up with him, the show’s stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer seemed unaware of the controversy. Colfer shared that he was “not surprised, unfortunately” to hear that people had been spreading rumors about her, with his pal Michele adding that everything seemed kosher when she was on set. “I mean, you never really know what’s true and what’s not,” she explained to MTV News at the Fox upfront in New York City this week. “From what we know, she did her stuff and we were busy shooting ours.” Regardless of what really happened when Lohan appeared on the show, perhaps this line stands as her finest statement about her relationship with the public: “Is there anything better than someone making a comeback?” The show’s third season finale, “Goodbye,” airs May 22. Season four will kick off this fall with a spankin’-new Britney Spears tribute episode , as well as cameos by Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker . What did you think of Lindsay’s cameo on “Glee”? The X Factor Season 2: First Promo!

Fox has one question for viewers: Are you ready? During last night’s American Idol finale , the network aired its first promo for season two of The X Factor . It included, of course, shots of the show’s two new judges: Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. It also featured a cackling Simon Cowell asking folks, what the heck was I thinking? We have no idea, as neither Britney nor Demi seem like ideal choices for a live competition that involves banter, quick wit and the ability to actually critique others. But, hey, we’ll be happy to be proven wrong. Watch the trailer now: X Factor Season 2 Promo

‘The Voice’ Moving To The Fall

After taking on ‘American Idol’ over the winter, ‘The Voice’ will now take on ‘X Factor.’ By Gil Kaufman “The Voice” coaches Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton Photo: NBC Fans of NBC reality singing competition “The Voice”
will get a double-dose of spinning chairs and clashing mentors this year, as the show is being moved to the fall for its upcoming third season. The just-wrapped singing competition whose panel is anchored by country star Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and jousting judges Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine, will move to the fall, where it will vie for eyeballs with another singing reality show, Simon Cowell’s “X Factor.” According to Billboard magazine , “The Voice” will benefit from Sunday night NFL promotions in its new slot, where it will run on Mondays from 8-10 p.m. and Tuesdays from 8-9 p.m. The “X Factor” will air on Wednesday from 8-10 p.m. and Thursday 8-9 p.m. Neither show has announced a firm return date. Unnamed sources close to “The Voice” told the magazine that there are a number of revisions in store for the program that could make it look much different from the first two seasons. Among them could be more air time for the top finalists instead of a renewed focus in season two on the blind audition rounds. As “The Voice” has grown into a consistent ratings generator for NBC, executives believe it will become a go-to place for labels looking to push their big fall and holiday releases in the fourth quarter during the show’s live November and December shows. It’s unknown how the double-dip this year will impact the careers of its stars, as Aguilera is working on new music, Levine and his band, Maroon 5, are preparing to release the new disc Overexposed on June 26 and Green has said he’s working on his next solo album and prepping a return from his hip-hop crew, Goodie Mob. The only hiccup from the “Voice” move is that Cowell may steal their thunder on Monday (May 14) when he is expected to announce that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will join the judging panel of “Factor” for season two. ‘Glee’ Creator Confirms: Everyone Is Coming Back

‘I wanted to do the right thing by all of them,’ Ryan Murphy tells Vulture. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with additional reporting by Christina Garibaldi “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/ FOX Twitter is a blessing that affords celebrities the ability to communicate with fans and update on their projects. But it can also be a curse when it sparks unwanted rumors — as “Glee” star Amber Riley found out the hard way. Gleeks thought the actress wasn’t returning to the show next fall when Riley tweeted , “Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I’ve known day in and day out for three years. I’m going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday!” When the show’s creator Ryan Murphy spoke to Vulture , he dispelled the gossip. “A lot of people have been writing Dianna [Agron] off the show, Amber’s off the show — they’re not off the show,” he said. “I think Amber was talking about that bittersweet feeling of, ‘I’ll never be in the choir room with that exact group of people.’ … She’s excited about where her character is going. They all are. I wanted to do the right thing by all of them.” MTV News caught up with Agron before the news broke that her character was returning. The actress told us that while she’s interested in the future of Quinn, she likes the story line to be a surprise. “It’s so funny, because I do write, and there was part of me that was like, ‘Oh, I know these characters inside and out. What if they gave me a shot to sit in the writer’s room and toy away with that?’ But at the same time, it’s like, ‘I don’t want to have any say in that.’ I love the surprise element of it.” While fans need not worry about the fate of Lea Michele, Cory Monteith or Chris Colfer following reports that the show will track Rachel, Finn and Kurt’s New York adventures , it’s hard not to wonder what’s in store for the glee-club seniors as they graduate on the season finale. With Quinn (Agron) off to Yale and Puck (Mark Salling) headed to California to expand his pool-cleaning business, some characters could get tossed to the side. But Murphy said that he told the actors if they wanted to stay on the show, he had a place for them — including Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester and Jane Lynch’s Coach Sue Sylvester. “They’re all coming back,” he said. “Anyone who is a regular is coming back. Everyone said yes.” But he does clarify that they may not come back for the long haul. “It doesn’t mean everyone will be doing 22 episodes, but everyone wants to stay in our family and our world,'” he revealed. “I wanted to make sure those actors know that if they want to have a home, they have a home. If they want to explore new and different things while also having a home, that is also an option.” “Glee” returns to Fox this fall, moving from Tuesday to Thursday nights, and is set to begin season four with a second Britney Spears tribute episode .

Kristen Stewart Amused By ‘Snow White’ Co-Star Charlize Theron

‘I love the effect she has on people,’ KStew tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Charlize Theron in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal Despite their obvious differences both onscreen and off, Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron have formed a bond during the filming of “Snow White and the Huntsman” and even more so during the current press tour in support of the film. When MTV News caught up with Stewart recently, we asked her to compare the familiar scenario of doing interviews with her longtime “Twilight” co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner versus her new castmate, the lovely Ms. Theron. “When Rob, Taylor and I do interviews together, they usually don’t actually ask us anything. We just get to hang out and people like to watch that,” Stewart said with a laugh. “It’s fine, because I like hanging out with those guys, but it is weird. With Charlize, it’s been great, because we’re so proud of the movie and we actually only worked together for three days, so we got to know each other probably more or at least on a certain level during press, and it’s been nice. It’s been fun.” Stewart said she especially admires Theron’s ability to light up a room with her energy and humor. “Some people intimidate you. Some people’s energy is so big you feel like you don’t fit in the room, but with her, I really appreciate how different we are. I love the effect she has on people,” Stewart said. “I find it hilarious. I love watching it happen. I do not have that. Maybe I have something else, but it’s definitely not as visceral. Also, she’s really hilarious,” she added, noting that the Oscar winner uses the more colorful swear words with particular aplomb. “[She] puts me to shame, to be honest,” Stewart said.
