Jennifer Lopez Hints She May Not Return To ‘American Idol’

‘I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things,’ Lopez says about her ‘Idol’ gig. By Gil Kaufman Jennifer Lopez Photo: MTV News Negotiating tactic or real threat? That’s what eagle-eyed “American Idol” fans were probably wondering on Tuesday after Jennifer Lopez hinted that she might not be back for a third season. Appearing with co-star Cameron Diaz on “Ellen,” to promote her upcoming movie, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” Lopez said she’s had a blast during two seasons on “Idol,” but her time may be up. “I really do enjoy it,” she said after telling DeGeneres she wasn’t sure what her future on “Idol” might be. “Now this is my second year — I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being three, but now they’re getting more mobile, they’re about to go into school … So I just don’t know.” Lopez joined the show in 2010 for season 10 along with Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and reportedly makes $12 million a season. And while that’s $2 million more than Christina Aguilera makes on “The Voice,” it is at least $3 million less than new “X Factor” judge Britney Spears will reportedly earn when she makes her debut in the fall. While appearing on “Access Hollywood” on Monday night, Lopez offered some advice to Spears and the other new “Factor” judge, Demi Lovato
. “I was like, ‘Live TV! Eek.’ It’s a big thing to take on, but I think they’re both more than capable to handle it,” Lopez said just hours after Spears and Lovato made it official. “Working with the singers and doing your thing and knowing what you’re talking about from experience, and they both have that,” she said of translating her music business expertise into judging advice. And, after a season in which some critics have said she and Tyler have been exceedingly easy on “Idol” contestants, Lopez also counseled that it’s perfectly okay to root for the good guy. “You don’t have to be tough,” she said. “There’s not one way to do that, reality TV, and those competition shows [are] about being yourself. It’s about being your best self, and I think that’s the most important thing.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Kristen Stewart’s Last Day On ‘Breaking Dawn’ Set Was ‘Ridiculous’

‘It was literally perfect,’ the actress deadpans about stepping on a rusty nail on her final day. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” Photo: Summit This fall’s final installment of “The Twilight Saga” will leave fans feeling bitter-sweet. While excitement bubbles with the anticipation of seeing ” Breaking Dawn – Part 2 ” finally grace the big screen, it wavers a bit with the realization that the cast has put away their golden contacts for good. When MTV News caught up with Kristen Stewart , she told us what her last moments on set were like after filming “Breaking Dawn” reshoots. Keeping true to KStew’s honest nature, it wasn’t filled with teary-eyed goodbyes or a final empowering line from the script. Instead, she injured herself. “The very last thing I did was step on a rusty nail,” she said, “before a big promotional tour, running barefoot through fake woods.” That’s pretty typical Stewart behavior if you ask us. “I know! It was literally perfect,” she continued. “I was like, ‘I need to do this on a ‘Twilight’ set before I had to go wear heels in front of the entire world and have people go, ‘She’s just ridiculous with the heel situation.’ It’s like, ‘No, I promise you I actually hurt myself again!’ ” The filming for both parts of “Breaking Dawn” wrapped back in April 2011, but director Bill Condon revealed reshoots were in store for April 2012. On the film’s official Facebook page he wrote, “Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen will be there too, to pop in those gold contacts one last time.” But with the rest of the cast absent and the glitzy wrap parties over, Stewart said the final filming felt a bit anticlimactic. “I also wasn’t there on the very last day that Bill finished. I think he had a few pick up shots. When they wrapped me and Rob — you know, people clap for the actors when they wrap because they wrap before everyone else — it felt so ridiculous. We were like, ‘Why are you guys clapping right now? Yeah, good on you, too.’ ” she said as she began clapping and mimicking the confused look on her and Rob’s faces. “I came back to set to do the same for Bill,” she continued, “and he was like, ‘I have to come back tomorrow to shoot, like, Volturi feet running through snow.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, damn, bye.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Britney Spears To Get New ‘Glee’ Tribute Episode

Fox comedy will also move to Thursday, like ‘X Factor,’ where Brit has signed on to judge. By Jocelyn Vena Heather Morris and Britney Spears on the set of “Glee” Photo: Facebook After drawing record ratings the first time around, “Glee” has announced plans to pay homage to Britney Spears … one more time. The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Spears will join the “X Factor” as judge, when the competition show returns to Fox this fall on Thursday nights. (Glee also moves to Thursdays for season four.) While Brit appeared in the September 2010 tribute episode, which used her impressive collection of hits, the 2012 tribute episode will instead focus on her “Glee” namesake, Brittany S. Pierce (played by Heather Morris), without any appearances from Spears. EW.com reports that the new episode will be the second in the show’s fourth season, returning in the fall. The Spears-centric episode will feature eight of her songs, and a source revealed that Fox is excited to have Spears joining the network on “X Factor” and that the “Glee” ep is partly a reflection of that. Spears was on hand Monday at the Fox Upfront presentation in New York City, where she appeared alongside fellow “X Factor” newbie Demi Lovato , as well as returning judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell. At the event, the judges and host of “So You Think You Can Dance” weighed in on the ladies joining the show . “I don’t have any advice for those ladies,” “SYTYCD” host Cat Deeley told MTV News. “What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they’ve been in the business for so long and since being kids, and so quite often they’ve had successes and they’ve had failures on things. “And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make,” she added. “You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they’ll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I think it’s a great booking.” Are you excited for another Britney tribute episode on “Glee”? Tell us what songs you want to hear in the comments section! Related Artists Britney Spears

Britney Spears Drops Some X-Factor Cleavage

I guess now that Britney Spears is officially going to be a judge on the The X-Factor , I don’t really know what qualifies her to judge others but what do I know, we’re going to be seeing a whole lot more of her. I guess I’m alright with that, she seems to have gotten herself together and is looking pretty good. Here she is giving us a look at some quality cleavage in her tight little dress. I bet an on-air breakdown would do wonders for the ratings.

Does Demi Lovato Have ‘The X Factor’?

Experts break down Lovato’s casting on the Fox reality show to MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV The world is still reacting to the now-confirmed news that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will sit together at the “The X Factor” judges table this fall . While their spots on the show remain among worst-kept secrets in recent memory, these two former Disney princesses will now set out to prove they are savvy enough to judge up-and-coming talent on the Fox competition series. While L.A. Reid, Simon Cowell and Spears bring decades of experience with them to the show, Lovato, only 19, may seem too much like a rookie on the surface. But, she’s already amassed the kind of experience performers triple her age could wish for. She’s released three albums, which have all landed top-five spots on the Billboard 200. She’s starred on the hit Disney series, “Sonny With a Chance” and was the female lead, alongside the Jonas Brothers, in both “Camp Rock” films, which were incredibly successful for the Mouse House. All the success at such a young age makes Lovato a perfect pick for the show. “They’re looking for female pop singers who can engage a younger audience,” Monica Herrera, a senior editor at Rolling Stone, told MTV News. “Demi seems like a good choice because she hits not just music fans, but TV fans and I think they’re kind of trying to find somebody who can hit all angles.” She may have tons of teenage Lovatics, but Keith Caulfield, associate director of charts/retail at Billboard, added that she still hasn’t yet permeated the adult market, which makes this the right time to make this move. “I thought it was interesting choice just because, I mean, she is a star, but she seems a bit under the radar to a degree so this is a great look for her because it’s going to elevate her visibility and give her a whole new audience and a great platform to introduce new material,” he said. “I think it’s a great opportunity for her to really expand her fanbase. I think a lot of people are going to discover Demi for the very first time.” And, that’s why, Herrera adds, she needs to strike while the iron is hot. “I think it’s definitely a smart move; I don’t think she can afford to wait at this point. I think that is kind of a way to jumpstart it and really get herself out there,” she explained. “Obviously she’s gonna want to put out an album timed to the fall show. She’ll have the team behind her to really kind of maximize this opportunity and put out a single and an album that will kind of get the lift that she really needs right now.” Caulfield notes that Lovato will serve as the perfect answer to Spears . “Demi, considering her history and frankly her years of experience, she’s gone through the ringer,” he said. “Demi is probably going to have more realistic commentary, probably not harsh but probably coming from the point of view of ‘I did this before.’ Certainly her and Britney have the X factor, that something about them that makes them stars, it’s hard to pin down. I think it’s going to be good. I think they’re both interesting choices.” So for anyone wondering if Lovato is still too young to mentor, well, Herrera says they should put those concerns aside. “I really think it does [help that she’s young], especially since they are skewing younger and younger with the contestants. I think someone like Demi would have been perfect for someone like Rachel Crow [who competed last season]. She obviously knows what it’s like to be thrust into the spotlight in that way from a really young age,” she said. “I really think that she can be that guiding force.” Do you think Demi Lovato has the “X Factor,” or is she too young? Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to Join The X Factor, Fox Confirms at Upfronts

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will join L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell as judges on The X Factor , Fox confirmed at its upfront presentation this afternoon. Spears, one of the most successful and celebrated artists in pop music history, gives the show A-list star power as it gears up for its sophomore season. Lovato is no slouch herself, having become an accomplished singer and actress with a devoted and engaged young fan base. Not bad for the age of 19. “I’m absolutely delighted that Britney and Demi are joining us,” said Cowell, who removed Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger at the end of last season. “Britney Spears remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she’s talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot The X Factor.” “Demi’s had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. She’s young, confident, and enthusiastic,” he added of his other panelist. “It’s important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes to the show.” Spears joining The X Factor has basically been a done deal for weeks now, added,
