Sha Money XL Says Big K.R.I.T Will Be As Big As 50 Cent

Originally posted here:

Sha Money XL is a case study in hustle and dedication. The accomplished A&R is one of the last members of that fraternity of label executives who got their start actually making music. Realizing early on that rapping was not his calling, the Queens, NY native used his piano skills from childhood to become one of the most sought after producers in the game, having worked with Royal Flush, Tragedy, Onyx, Mobb Deep and many more. Sha Money, aka “The Chain On The Bike” is also one of the key people who helped propel 50 Cent from mixtape phenom to GQ Cover model and mogul. As President of  G-Unit Records he oversaw releases like the double-platinum group debut, Beg For Mercy. These days, Sha Money XL holds the title of Sr. Vice President of A&R for Island Def Jam and has his sights set on blasting off newcomer Big K.R.I.T.’s career. But even in the midst of working various projects, he still finds time to give back by mentoring and motivating young artists to become future leaders and innovators in hip-hop. In 2005 he established an annual conference for Hip-Hop producers called The One Stop where the beatmakers of tomorrow are discovered. Here he shared why Big K.R.I.T. is about to be the next biggest rapper to touch a mic and how Jam Master Jay inspired him to help encourage the next generation of b-boys and girls. ⎯Starrene Rhett TUD: What’s one of your favorite moments in hip-hop that you were actually involved in? Sha Money XL: It was my first trip to California. I went to this thing called “Rap Olympics” and that was the day that Eminem got discovered by Dr. Dre. And that’s where I saw Eminem in a battle where I knew he would win but because there was mad Crips in the building they didn’t let him win. But he beat that motherf*cker! That was an ill day! This was before Internet and before people could tape it and everyone could see it. That was my first trip to Cali and I hung out with Eminem. I didn’t really pay attention to the fact that it’s this white kid rapping but then when we turned around he became this ill dude and it was like, “You remember that kid that was with us that day and he was waiting to go upstairs to freestyle and he did that ill freestyle? It was like wow, we were with him! We were cool with Em before he blew up. That was one of my historical moments and then there was Jam Master Jay⎯the day I met him. That changed my life. Why? It’s your first five minutes to talk to someone famous but you don’t wanna sound stupid. I made my conversation right with him. He’s the one that introduced me to 50 Cent, so he kind of opened my whole world. He was my first mentor. He was actually someone that took the time to take care and show you something. Everybody in this industry be too busy, so they don’t be passing no words, they don’t plant no seeds so no one can go on and continue and here Jay was⎯he was ready to lend his whole soul. So he opened it up to the kid. That’s what made me want to produce a conference and do all the mentoring and the talk back. Look at how far I got with it. I do that sh*t just because he did it for me and it helped me. And I know it only takes one person, that’s a lot alone. Where do you see what your impact has been made on the culture? My influence has an impact on producers. With me dealing with hip-hop, with producers, they’re the seed planters in hip-hop. They’re the ones that add hype to new artists that get excited. They’re the ones that are at the storefronts to buy the CDs and buying albums continuously. With artists, they’re all critics so they don’t go buy another artist’s album or they don’t want to hear who’s hot so I planted the seeds with producers with my conference to the point that when I see people now they’re like “Yo man, I got a job from coming to your conference,” or “I sold a beat from coming to your conference,” or “ I did ‘Power’ for Kanye West from f*cking with your conference .” There’s all these stories that come from there and it’s like, I love producers because they’re just creative beings that are just fans of music. There’s no hate, it’s no bullsh*t, it’s that they just want to hear the best music out there possible because producers are musicians. So I think my contribution is more like quality music and actually to giving back to the search for new talent and I’m still on the hunt and I’m still looking. I just found Big K.R.I.T. Big K.R.I.T. is a special artist to me because he’s one of those rare artists that are so amazing. Like how I believed in 50 when motherf*ckers said he was done and I knew that it wasn’t that. Why do you feel that Big K.R.I.T is so amazing? Big K.R.I.T has the best message to send in hip-hop. His words sit in your soul unlike any other rapper out there. I’ve memorized his songs and used it as poetry because he’s speaking sh*t that mother f*ckers are afraid to talk about, don’t want to talk about, he knows how to make it sound cool. It’s not trap rap, it’s not sit down and be a Buddhist either. It’s real hip-hop soul. It’s just indescribable. There’s no one like it. Big K.R.I.T is gonna be a Grammy nominated award winner. When I told you that I knew 50 was gonna be hot, this dude is the hottest rapper in the next 10 years. Speaking of Big K.R.I.T what’s the state of hip-hop today? It’s back to the youth. Before, it was a part where the 18-year-old and 19-year-olds had no say. It’s young again. The rappers that were popping were like 30 and over but now the new ones are back in their teenage years and early 20s. It’s back to where it needs to be. When LL was hot sh*t and Run DMC were first hot, they were teenagers but then it got to where the new rappers had to be 30 or older because they were grinding so hard but now it’s back to the youth. It’s back to the kids on skateboards that tell you that this is fashion, not that bullsh*t you’re wearing. Not that Louis sh*t and all that sh*t that you need a whole fucking check on that’s good for one night and can’t even wear it in the next three months. It’s back to that and that’s the best form of hip-hop to me. The youth really determine what’s hot and they ignite all the other kids toward that and that’s when you start to see sales, because older motherf*ckers aren’t buying music because they’re not really used to it. What’s the future of Black music in general? It’s just gonna continue to grow and continue to elevate. Have you seen that Beyonce performance at the Billboard Awards? That’s growth! You’re gonna see more growth. What do you want your legacy to be 100 years form now? What I want my legacy to be is to reach back for people to continue to elevate themselves, but [showing them how[ to give back so that other people can grow as well. Britney Spears Vs. The Paparazzi: Best Music-Video Moments

Brit’s ‘I Wanna Go’ video is hardly the first time she’s taken aim at the prying tabloid media. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears in her “I Wanna Go” video Photo: Jive Britney Spears is taking a stand against the paparazzi in the music video for her new single “I Wanna Go,” which premiered online Wednesday morning (June 22). In the Chris Marrs Piliero-directed clip she slings a microphone their way, knocking them off their perch. But it’s hardly the first time Spears has taken a tongue-in-cheek approach to making a statement about the tabloid media. In fact, since early on in her career, Spears has examined her love-hate affair with the prying lens of the paparazzi. After bursting on the pop scene in the late 1990s with a naughty girl-next-door image that made her a star, Spears learned that fame would come with lots of attention from the press. And, as in “I Wanna Go,” she has made it a point to play with that relationship in her videos. Here, we look back on a few of our favorites. “Lucky” Britney first gave fans some insight into her celebrity life in this video, dating back to 2000 and released on her second smash album, Oops! … I Did It Again. In the candy-colored, Dave Meyers-directed video, Spears plays a melancholy movie star who wants nothing more than to have a little fun. “Overprotected” A year after the “Lucky” video, Spears busted loose in this video from her Britney album. After breaking free from her hotel room, which is being watched by then real-life bodyguard Big Rob (that’s right, the Jonas Brothers’ Big Rob ), she dances in the rain and her hotel lobby and then throws one big party for her girls in a large limo. “Everytime” She shows the darker side of fame in the video for “Everytime.” By the time 2004 rolled around, Spears was not only In the Zone, she was frequently in the gossip pages. Her personal life was gossip fodder and in the clip, Spears plays a pop star whose public fight with her beau (played by Stephen Dorff) gets the paparazzi worked up, leading to an injury that may or may not bring about her untimely end. “Piece of Me” Spears had more fun in 2007 on the Blackout single “Piece of Me.” Released during a transitional time in both her personal and professional life, Spears poked fun at herself, dancing around a nightclub’s bathroom as magazine headlines about the pop star flash across the screen. “If U Seek Amy” The video for this 2009 single played up the song’s controversial title ( say it slowly, really slowly ) using faux news briefs. Released on her Circus album, the clip for “If U Seek Amy” played up Spears’ many sides: from good-natured mom to sexy party girl. “Hold It Against Me” This was Britney doing the thinking man’s take on the media. Britney Spears is a Fat Chick Lap Dancing of the Day

The only guy at a Britney Spears concert would be a gay guy who probably never thought he’d cum himself to a chick giving him a ridiculous lap dance on stage, because he probably never thought he’d brush shoulders with his gay icon, Queen of Queen’s Britney Spears…someone who makes groupie bitches, both gay man and straight girl turning 30, go fucking nuts… Unless he’s just a hired actor and part of her show, cuz I can’t imagine her legally being allowed to interract with untrained professionals, it is one of those crazy person rules and regulations as she continues to be used to make a lot of people money like the empire she is the figure head of…. If he’s neither gay, or hired, he’s got some serious explaining to do…this is the kinda shit that follows you everywhere you go, cuz as cool as a lap dance from Britney is in theory, admitting you went to her concert takes away from that…cuz we all know you’re a pussy whipped bitch accommodating some girl…and becoming a national joke…. If dude had any vision, ambition or drive, he would have slipped a condom full of semen inside her when he had the chance…she’s fertile, she pays the bills…..Either way, he’ll remember this for life, and so will his coworkers… To See The Rest of the Pics Follow This Link

Top 6 Tami Roman’s Memorable Quotes

See the original post here:

If I had to choose which one of the “Basketball Wives” were my favorite “wife,”  I’d pick Tami Roman every single time. She real, she’s funny, she’s witty and she just straight up don’t take NO bull. Period! And what’s more is that the other cast members pretty much know not to try her by now, all except for Meeka but she is soon to learn not to go there. In light of all of her hilarious and down to earth quotes, I’ve created a post dedicated to Tami’s top 6 quotables. Check them out below: 6. “This does not define me, I don’t move from one player to the next. What I do is establish my own.” This was Tami’s response to Evelyn at the reunion show for season 2 where Evelyn said Tami knew her and Kenny were together on the low,  she just acted as if she didn’t to establish her “spot” on the show. Needless to say Tami, for once, didn’t give into Evelyn’s advances and handled her comment with class. 5. “Let me show you how cheap talk is around this m*therf*cker!” During season 2 when Jennifer tried to act bourgeoisie off the fact that she’d “never seen a food stamp in her life” and tried to get buck with Tami, she was so close to setting it off! 4. “So then I don’t need to tell you that I f*cked Chad.” This was especially hilarious from last year’s reunion show as the person’s face on the receiving end of the comment, Evelyn, was absolutely priceless. 3. “You’re only relevant cause I’m talking to you b*tch!” In the heat of Tami and Meeka’s huge blow up last night, Tami let it be known to Meeka that she tries way too hard and is completely irrelevant. That’s definitely the truth, because no one ever even heard of this kid before the show. 2. “I do not care how Evelyn, Jennifer and Shaunie smile in your face. They do not like you.” This had to be one of the realest things ANY one of the BW’s has said in the history of the show. Evelyn, Jennifer and Shaunie are the fakest people ever, that’s their thing. Smile in your face and snicker at you behind your back. 1. “I don’t give a f*ck if you buy every shoe in Dulce, you ain’t never gonna be Evelyn!” Another shot at Meeka, Tami was full of quotables in that one argument with Meeka alone. It also made me take notice to the fact that Meeka definitely does try to be another Evelyn, as if that’s the person to be or something. I could go on and on with quotes from Tami, but unfortunately I have to stop somewhere, clearly Tami is not to be messed with. Who is your favorite “wife” is and why? How To Balance “Bro-mance” Versus “Romance”

See the rest here:

We all know that being liked by your boyfriend’s friends is a plus. What better security is there than knowing that his friends aren’t actively trying to change his mind about you? One of my friends is so used to being invited to her boyfriend’s “guys’ nights”. Whether it’s getting wings at the local dive bar or being rowdy and watching the game on someone’s couch, she’s always been a “guys’ girl”. The guy that she recently started dating, however, likes to separate his “guy time” and “girlfriend time”. BUT, this doesn’t mean that she needs to kick him to the curb and find a more romantic guy. We talked and tried to figure out what the right amount of “bro-mance” time versus “romance” time is. The first thing I did was explain to her the importance of “bro-mances” to men. Just because they’re spending time with their guys does not mean that they are going to break up with you. There’s no need to constantly call and text him asking about his plans. Having time to “bro out” can actually be extremely healthy for relationships. You have more to talk about, and let’s be real- you’d rather him be hanging out with his best guy  friends than getting drinks with the new lady at work. But how much “bro-mance” is too much ? When he is choosing to play poker with the guys 5 days out of the week, it’s time to step in and ask for a little more “loving time”. If you can squeeze yourself into a game of black jack with him and the guys, that’s great! But don’t go dealing cards where they don’t belong. You don’t want to start showing up everywhere and have his guys get annoyed of you. When my friend showed up at one of the guys’ golf games, she felt completely out of place and definitely heard the snide comments: “uhh dude, what’s she doing here?” Most importantly, keep in mind what his “bro-mance” time can mean for you. Use this time to pamper yourself or plan a girls’ night out . Just because he wants to hang out with the guys on Friday night doesn’t mean that you need to stay in by yourself. Bishop T.D. Jakes Says We Should Pray For Eddie Long

Continue reading here:

Bishop T.D. Jakes recently responded to the Eddie Long’s settlement in his sexual misconduct case, saying that Christians should still pray for Long’s church because they have no authority to say anything else. When the allegations against Long became public, Jakes publicly addressed the case before his own congregation, The Potter’s House in Dallas, saying, “Christians should just pray.” He also told his flock during the Sunday service, “When all this is over, one thing is for sure – somebody, if not everybody in it, is going to need the blood [of Jesus Christ].” Speaking in a recent interview with The Christian Post, Jakes reiterated that “we should still pray” for New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. “We have no other authority but to pray,” said the prominent megachurch pastor before he took the stage at McDonald’s Gospelfest event Saturday in Newark, N.J You may read the rest of this interesting interview here.
