Snoop Dogg And Wiz Khalifa Get ‘Wild’ On Video Set

‘This is a family affair, man,’ Wiz tells MTV News while shooting a clip for his upcoming stoner comedy with Snoop. By Matt Elias Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa on the set of “Young, Wild & Free” Photo: Matt Elias/MTV News MONTCLAIR, California — Big Snoop D-O-Double-G celebrates his 40th birthday Thursday (October 20), but on Wednesday night, he was all business. Well, business as usual. Snoop spent the evening shooting a music video with Wiz Khalifa for the track “Young, Wild & Free.” It’s the first song from the soundtrack of the duo’s upcoming stoner comedy, “Mac & Devin Go to High School.” It was quite a spectacle on the video set. The mellow MCs took over a drive-in movie theater an hour outside Los Angeles with tons of tricked-out rides and a variety of video vixens. The clip was directed by Dylan Brown, who also handled directing duties on the film. “This is a family affair, man,” Wiz told MTV News. “Everybody that you see was all involved with the project. We all got love for each other, and you know, we just keeping it moving, right?” “Yeah that’s all,” Snoop added. “We just having fun. We at a big drive-in theater so we could have as many people and have as many things happen as possible in the celebration of being young, wild, and free — having a good time.” And clearly they were having a good time. One scene saw Snoop and Wiz romping around the parking lot in some souped-up off-road karts, loaded with a crew of cuties. “That’s definitely going along with the theme of being young, wild, and free — just having fun, wild’n out,” Wiz said. “The whole theme of the video, we just getting it crackin’ in the parking lot, man, just turning this thing out. So we had a couple little of our friends in the car, and we drove fast.” “I had to level out the playing field,” Snoop admitted, with his kart holding a few extra girls than Wiz’s. “I had to have some, ahem, weight issues, so I had to have some girls roll with me to level out my car.” If you’re wondering how this whole scene ties into the high school flick, the Doggfather has you covered. “We got some more party scenes where we just gonna be doing our verses and having the scenes from the movie play on the big screen from the actual movie ‘Mac & Devin Go to High School,’ ” Snoop said. “So people get a chance to see a few scenes and see us perform at the same time.” The song itself got production help from Bruno Mars and quickly came together. “[Bruno Mars] sent me the music and I played the music for Wiz and he loved it and we came together,” Snoop said. “That’s what we do: We make good music. If you’ve got a great idea, which was started by Bruno, and me and Wiz, we take it to the next level, gave it back to Bruno. He tightened up the edges, and now it’s a complete situation.” Look for the soundtrack in December, just in time for the holiday season, followed by the film’s release in February. Derek Jeter’s On-Again, Off-Again’s Show, Charlie’s Angels Gets Cancelled Already Despite A Last-Ditch Girl-On-Girl Kiss Scene

Looks like Jeter’s old boo will have more free time to get chopped down by him on weekends… The very crappily made remake of Charlie’s Angels has stopped filming and is headed to cancellation already. Ouch! “A network representative says the show will continue to air on Thursdays, filling the 8 p.m. slot with an unknown number of episodes (four of the show’s eight shot episodes have aired). Last night’s hour showed some ratings growth for the first time, climbing a tenth of a point to 6 million viewers and a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. But it wasn’t enough to reverse the show’s fate.” So, to try to get a ratings boost, the show is going to have two of the angels make out. Which two? Click over to find out. While it may be fun for us to watch, it probably won’t help the show. Oh well.

‘Avengers’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

We break down our first good look at the superhero supergroup. By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler Chris Hemsworth in the “Avengers” trailer Photo: Marvel The first full trailer for “The Avengers” is here, though at first glance, it seemed much more like the work of Michael Bay — a little citizens-ominously-watching-the-skyline “Armageddon” here, a bit of city-block-destroying “Transformers” there — than the handiwork of Marvel and writer/director Joss Whedon. But that voice-over you hear in the beginning (the one assuring us humans were made to be ruled) is none other than Loki, who makes his first appearance about 20 seconds into the new footage, kick-starting a furious visual procession of superheroes, superheroes and more superheroes. While the trailer didn’t deliver everything we were hoping for — nor did it have the ineffable coolness we might have expected — it gave us a whole lot of Marvel goodness to unpack, which we did with another MTV News expert trailer analysis: Loki, Located We’ve known for a long time that Loki is the central villain in “Avengers,” though whether other villains pop up to wreak havoc (like those persistent rumors about the alien Skrulls ) remains to be seen. What we didn’t know was how Loki would travel to Earth, considering the Rainbow Bridge — that mythic intergalactic transporter — was destroyed at the end of this summer’s “Thor.” Yet in that film, before tumbling into some kind of cosmic abyss, Loki announces there are other ways to get to Earth besides the Rainbow Bridge. In this early shot of Loki crouching in a warehouse, we see what just might be the bad guy’s new mode of space transportation. What exactly this “Stargate”-esque contraption is remains to be seen. Turbulence When Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor and the rest of the Avengers assemble, they have to do so in style. In Marvel lore, when they take to the sky, they do so in a super-slick aircraft called the Quinjet, which flies overhead around the 55-second mark of the trailer. So that’s cool. Except the sucker’s on fire and looking like it’s about to crash-land in Manhattan, perhaps as part of the epic urban battle the trailer teases again and again. We can’t say for certain it’s Quinjet — it could be a Skrullian craft — but we doubt it, based on visual comparisons to the comics and the fact that the jet just doesn’t look alien. But do the Skrulls have a hand in the Quinjet’s fiery situation? Or is that all thanks to Loki? Hmmm … This Is Assembling? Who are we kidding? We wanted to see the Avengers assemble — not around the boardroom, table but in action. And the trailer, in this respect, just doesn’t deliver. Alas, the shot (around one minute, 11 seconds in) of our heroes in a lab is the best look at the team together. Hawkeye isn’t even there. Black Widow is mostly hidden. Captain America and Iron Man aren’t even in their suits. Bruce Banner is just Bruce Banner, no hint of the hidden green beast within. We appreciate that Whedon is a writer who loves to pen a witty exchange between characters — we get a lot of that in the trailer, and we’re not complaining — but we also maintain Marvel missed a chance in the trailer to show off the Avengers assembling for the first time in an unforgettable way. Thor vs. the Captain? At about the one-minute, 25-second mark, we have what looks like Thor battling Captain America. Now, the simple explanation is that these Avengers don’t always get along and, hey, even superheroes might come to blows with one another from time to time. No harm, no foul. But here’s a little conspiracy theory for ya: The Skrulls are notorious shape-shifters, and we just might be seeing one of them taking on the guise of an Avenger. So what we might — and we can’t emphasize might enough — be seeing is actually a Skrull-vs.-Avenger throw-down. That kind of can-you-trust-your-buddy paranoia could be a lot of fun to play with in the film. Say Hello to Your Hulk We’ve seen Mark Ruffalo in character as Bruce Banner before. What we haven’t seen — and what honestly makes the whole trailer worthwhile — is this first look at Banner transformed into the Hulk. Ruffalo has spoken often about how his Hulk will be a motion-capture creation modeled on the actor himself. So can we see the Oscar-nominated Ruffalo lurking somewhere inside the green beast? Hard to say in so brief a glimpse. We’ll have to wait to see more “Avengers” footage, which we can’t wait for and which is the clearest indication that for all our quibbles, the trailer is a superheroic success. Nicki Minaj And Pitbull Celebrate AMA Nominations

Minaj jokes that mentor Lil Wayne should ‘move to the side and let me win’ at the American Music Awards. By Kara Warner Nicki Minaj and Pitbull Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Whether they had a heads-up or not, when Nicki Minaj and Pitbull unveiled the nominees for the 39th annual American Music Awards on Tuesday (October 11), it was obvious they were both pleased to read the other’s name off the list. Minaj is nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, while Pitbull picked up nods for Favorite Latin Music Artist and Favorite Pop or Rock Male Artist. When MTV News caught up with the nominees immediately following the announcement, they weren’t shy about their hopes for bringing home the big awards come November 20, when the AMAs air live on ABC. “It’s an honor to be here with the kind of caliber of artists here,” Pitbull said of fellow nominees Justin Bieber , Bruno Mars , Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez . “Me, I come to the awards shows and I just learn, I watch everyone, I see how they handle their performances and hopefully grab a couple things and apply it to my career. So to be here nominated and to also be performing at the AMAs, I want to thank you.” The “Give Me Everything” singer also promised he’ll do his best to top his VMA performance when he takes the AMA stage. “That [VMA performance] was definitely a lot of fun. It’s hard to get 60 women from Miami on a plane after they were partying the night before and bring that vibe out there,” he joked. “But that’s definitely what we’re looking for: We’re looking for a lot of energy, something very sexy, sophisticated, powerful — and get ready.” With regard to Miss Minaj’s chances at victory, she’s nominated in both categories with Young Money boss Lil Wayne, so we wanted to know if there will be any friendly wagering going on beforehand. “I don’t know. He’s won enough,” she said with a smile. “He’s been winning for 10 years, so he can move to the side and let me win, hopefully.” Who will you be rooting for at the AMAs? Let us know in the comments!
