Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars: Better Than Kim!

Rob Kardashian will not win Dancing With the Stars, but he’s officially won bragging rights after a strong jive routine with partner Cheryl Burke last night. “It’s official,” Carrie Ann Inaba said, bestowing a compliment he’ll never let his sister live down. “Rob Kardashian is a better dancer than Kim Kardashian!” “No disrespect to Kim,” Inaba continued, before heaping more praise. “But you have the dancing gene, honey. It’s nice to see your confidence coming out.” Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars (Week 2) Bruno Tonioli agreed, telling the reality star he’d started “to blossom,” while Len Goodman praised Rob for his “great improvement” since last week. Despite having a famous family, Rob Kardashian struggles with all eyes on him. “I’m scared as hell,” he admitted during rehearsal for the ABC show. “I don’t feel great about myself at all. To be in front of people knowing I’m insecure with my weight, and I say I have man boobs jokingly, but it’s true.” “Being surrounded by all these dancers who are in great shape, it’s just hard to be around and [then] be able to put yourself out there like that.” With his score of 21, Kardashian tied Elisabetta Canalis, Chynna Phillips and Nancy Grace , just two points shy of Ricki Lake’s field-leading total of 23. Look for Rob to be easily safe tonight and live to show up Kim another week.

Letter from Toronto: Michael Winterbottom Takes Hardy to India with Trishna (and More)

Michael Winterbottom makes so many movies that some of them creep into festivals very quietly and, just as quietly, creep out, never to be seen again. That wasn’t the case with The Trip , which played here last year, a woolly exploration of middle-aged angst that featured Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon (as themselves) bickering and trading Sean Connery impersonations as they made their way through the English countryside. But two years before that, in 2008, Winterbottom brought a picture called Genova to the festival, a mildly engaging drama in which Colin Firth plays a father who moves his family to Italy after the death of their mother. The picture never got a U.S. release, fading like the worn face of a stone saint on a medieval church.

Finally, the Real Reason That Ryan O’Neal Left Dancing with the Stars

Some of us were too excited about Ryan O’N eal competing on Dancing With the Stars , reenacting Love Story scenes using elements of jive, and wowing Bruno Tonioli with those ageless baby blues (browns?). Unfortunately, Mr. O’N eal claimed injury and dropped out of the show, and now Nancy Grace only has to out-hoof 11 other couples instead of 12. Boo. But a new report details a much different reason for O’N eal’s departure, and it may force us to give the Tatum-flrting actor a bit of credit.

Dancing with the Stars Finale, Part I: Who’s Tapping Towards Victory?

We’re just nanoseconds away from Dancing with the Stars ‘s 10th season finale. Who’ll walk off with the life-size platinum sculpture “Bruno Tonioli Descending a Pile of Thai Men”? Could it be Nicole Scherzinger, the reliable Pussycat Doll? What about Evan Lysacek, who has the personality of a Felix the Cat clock? Or could ESPN personality Erin Andrews come from behind with a victory? We’ve posted their two performances (a “freestyle” and a “redemption” dance, where the contestants retry a flub from earlier in the season), put in our two cents, and rewritten the judges’ comments for your pleasure. Spoiler: A certain Olympian goes a little Tonya Harding in the membrane.

Dancing with the Stars: Can Nicole Scherzinger Be Stopped?

We’re just a quickstep away from the finals, where the awful Lady Gaga karaoke and “Spanish” costuming should reach record levels of incredibility. Last night Chad Ochocinco, Erin Andrews, Evan Lysacek, and uncontested boogie emperor Nicole Scherzinger flew into mad versions of ballroom and waltz styles. While Nicole did give the best performance of the season with her Argentina Tango– nay, the best performance in the show’s history — we saw her closest runner-up narrow the gap with wild excitement. Let’s revisit each set of performances, replay what the judges really said (at least to our ears), and begin to wave goodbye as Chad Ochocinco takes home an inevitable fourth place.

Dancing with the Stars Bruno Tonioli Heart Attack Meter: Waltz Week

Waltzes and quicksteps! So… horribly dorky. Luckily, Dancing with the Stars countered the schmaltz by sticking Lady Gaga karaoke and disco-stick rides at the end of the show. And of course, Bruno Tonioli almost suffered massive heart attacks after every performance. Time to revisit the six couples’ routines, two cha-cha medleys (set to the music of Lady Gaga and Madonna), and our interpretations of Bruno’s mad-horny comments. We also included our own opinions in case you’re desperately seeking sanity.
