Fabolous says he has always wanted to perform on the Brooklyn Bridge; so that is exactly what he did! Fab’s very own VEVO Go show featured him performing “Ya’ll Don’t Hear Me Tho” off The S.O.U.L Tape with only a boom box and camera on freezing cold day. “I’ve never done this before. I’ve never walked over the bridge,” said Loso. “I definitely think it’s like part of hip-hop, even down to the boombox. I just wanted to do something that was different, even for me. Just showing the people that I’m from where you from. I grew up here, I know their environment, so you walk the same walks of life as they do.” Fabolous’ Security Pulls A Gun Out After Knocking a Guy Out[VIDEO] Kelly Rowland “Motivation” Remix Ft. ‘It’s just something about ‘Pac and I,’ Weezy tells MTV News about performing ‘Hail Mary’ on June 12 special. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Wayne Photo: MTV It’s clear with his “Best Rapper Alive” proclamations that Lil Wayne wants to be remembered among the greats. And with an extensive and well-regarded catalog, he may already be there. Still, during Wayne’s MTV “Unplugged” special, set to air Sunday, June 12, the Young Money CEO pays homage to another rap legend: Tupac Shakur. “I knew because this is my ‘Unplugged,’ I said, ‘I want to do some kind of tribute to one of those great artists,’ ” Wayne explained to us of why he chose to perform the fallen MC’s 1996 single “Hail Mary.” “It’s just something about ‘Pac and I,” he said after the show’s taping last month. “I picked that second verse, ‘Penitentiaries is packed with promise makers,’ and I was like, ‘That whole verse is just perfect — they never realized the precious time that they wasting.’ ” “Hail Mary” appeared on Tupac’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which he recorded under the alias Makaveli. Although ‘Pac finished the album before he was fatally gunned down on September 7, 1996, the LP wasn’t released until after he died. The track has been covered by quite a few rap artists, including Eminem, 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes, who remade the classic together in 2003 with a dis aimed at then-rival Ja Rule. The iconic song has never been covered by Weezy, though, until now. Last November, DJ Khaled appeared on “RapFix Live” and drew comparisons between Wayne and ‘Pac, noting Weezy’s eight-month incarceration for attempted gun possession, his work ethic and overall likability. “Ain’t nobody have that impact since Tupac. Lil Wayne is a genius and he’s a great person. He’s always showed love to everybody. You can’t say anything bad about Wayne,” Khaled told host Sway. “So when he was on vacation, it didn’t feel like he was gone. He dropped the album and it went #1. He was in every video. It was just as big. Now he’s home. When he was on vacation, he was that powerful. Imagine what he’s about to do.” Don’t miss “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged,” premiering Sunday, June 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV2, MTV and MTV.com.

Young Money upstart tells ‘RapFix Live’ he told the singer-cum-MC, ‘Do whatever makes you comfortable.’ By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Tyga on “RapFix Live” Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News Tyga hit the “RapFix Live” couch on Wednesday and among the many topics he discussed was his friendship with Chris Brown. In the wake of Brown’s damaged reputation after his infamous altercation with Rihanna in 2009, Tyga became one of the beleaguered R&B singer’s trusted confidantes and musical collaborators. The pair released the joint mixtape Fan of a Fan in 2010, and the single “Deuces” from the project went on to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The Grammy-nominated song was a natural result of the two artists getting to know each other better. “I could tell after the situation, he wasn’t comfortable about doing certain stuff because he was listening to the wrong people or just listening to the media and stuff and it was eating him up as an artist, creatively,” Tyga told MTV News. “We just hung out. We didn’t even start doing music. I didn’t even pressure him to get on no songs with me or anything. He used to just come to the studio when I was doing mixtape stuff and just vibe. We used to sit there and just chill, joke all day and then have fun.” During that period Brown, who was known for dropping pop/R&B hits like “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and “Forever,” began recording music that showcased him not only as a crooner but as a rapper. Such is the case on the recent chart-topper “Look At Me Now,” featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, off Brown’s F.A.M.E. album. And Tyga told us he fully supports Brown’s MC aspirations. “When he started rapping I was just like, ‘Rap, if that’s what you feel like, rap,’ ” Tyga said. ” ‘Do whatever makes you comfortable. You can’t wait for somebody else. Your fans they love you for you. We can shoot these mixtape videos,’ and that’s what we started doing. We shot like four videos back-to-back.” Those videos were for “G Sh–,” “Holla at Me,” “Deuces,” and “No BS,” which all featured Brown and first appeared on Fan of a Fan. While Tyga helped Chris Brown come out of what has been the lowest point of his fairly young career with his musical mojo intact, the Compton rapper never considered any backlash he may have received because of the alliance. “I mean, I didn’t do anything wrong, so why would I get fault for it?” Tyga said. “I’m just a friend supporting and just helping out. I was a fan of him. I’m not gonna [go], ‘Oh, he did something bad,’ and follow the rest of the crowd. I don’t judge people like that.” Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ With Tyga
