Audit Finds California’s Gang Database Includes Babies An audit of CA’s CalGang database recently found that at least 42 people on its list are babies under age one…and several of them have issued confessions of their affiliations. Besides the fact that at least a portion of the information entered is completely erroneous — we aren’t sure what a 1-year-old could be an asset to a gang — it’s problematic because most people aren’t even aware that they or their child is listed on the database , nor do they have any legal right to find out. Via Gawker : An audit of California’s state gang database, CalGang, found 42 individuals in the database who were less than one year old at the time of of entry, 28 of whom are further classified as, “admitting to being gang members,” Voice of San Diego reports. A human baby typically utters its first word at around nine months of age. It is not yet known whether some or all of these entries might be for adults whose ages were recorded incorrectly. The findings of the audit, which was requested by the state Legislature and prompted by San Diego Assemblywoman Shirley Webster, were published on Thursday. The audit also found that many parents are not being notified when their children are entered into the database, despite a 2013 law requiring they do so. The audit affirms that some people remain in the database long after they should have been removed and that many are entered into the database without a substantial reason, according to VOSD. Weber was not surprised by the finding, telling VOSD, “I’ve heard these complaints for years. As most folks know, my own son was threatened to be put on the gang list, and he hand’t done anything. I hear these things from parents on a regular basis. Leah Messer is on vacation at the moment, but as she’s currently learning the hard way, there’s no vacation from social media drama. As you can see, she took her daughters with her, so you’d think we’d get a brief reprieve from claims that Leah is a negligent mom . But no, the concern-trolling is real when it comes to Leah, and the angry moms come out of the woodwork pretty much every time she posts. The pic above drew jeers and condemnation from some of her Instragram followers not because of the content, but because of the time it was posted. Leah captioned the pic: “Before bed, I couldn’t help but share! #MyFamily #AAA #summer2016 I love them so much!!” Seems innocent enough, but the pic was posted at about 1 am California time (Leah and her kids are in Garden Grove at the moment) and many fans interpreted the caption to mean that Leah and her daughters posed for the pic at that time. Others harkened back to the time that Leah rushed her kids off to school without breakfast , and suggested that if she didn’t stay up so late, perhaps she wouldn’t find it so difficult to wake up in the morning. Sigh. Wisely, Leah has chosen not to respond. Sadly, sometimes even if you don’t feed the trolls, they still multiply. Around the same time last night, Leah also posted the photo above, along with a caption reading: “A bond that will never be broke! A mother & her daughters!” Leah’s questionable grammar prompted replies such as: “You’re an inspiration but please learn English… your bond will never be broken not broke.” “Try ‘a bond that will never be BROKEN’ moron” We won’t even bother to point out that both of those sentences contain grammatical or punctuation errors. On Sunday might, Kardashian released a series of Snapchat videos that featured her husband on the phone with Swift. They were discussing Kanye’s track “Famous” and at least one of the references he wanted to make about Taylor in it. Namely, the line about how he and his former rival “might still have sex” someday. Her main problem with the song in question was the line about how Kanye made “that bitch famous,” and that line is NOT addressed in her chat with West. Either way, there’s been talk of Swift suing Kim and Kanye because it’s illegal in California for one party to record a phone call with the other, sans permission. According to an Us Weekly insider, the rapper and reality star were aware of the legal ramifications surrounding their taping. “They didn’t air it on [Keeping Up with the Kardashians] because it would have required Taylor to sign a release for the usage and they didn’t want it to affect the entire network,” the source says. “Taylor will sue Kanye personally.” Will she, though? We can’t say at the moment. It is still possible she could sue Kim for releasing the footage on Snapchat because there could be a privacy violation in play there… But we’re getting into shaky legal ground now at best.
