New Pepsi Bottle: Unveiled! Kind of Different!

It’s new, it’s sort of improved and it will soon be on supermarket shelves around the nation. PepsiCo Inc. announced yesterday that it will be rolling out a new shape for its 20-ounce bottle, marking that item’s first change in 20 years. The updated version (pictured) will possess an easier-to-grip, contoured bottom half, along with a wraparound label that is shorter than before, allowing more of the beverage to be exposed. Pepsi has been losing a great deal of its market share to Coca Cola and is actively trying to alter its brand. The company signed a mega deal with Beyonce earlier this year, while spokeswoman Andrea Foote said this change is part of an overall, major marketing makeover. The new bottles will first appear in the New York region, then hit Chicago and parts of California and Florida. It may take two full years to replace all the old bottles. So… what do you think of the new Pepsi bottle?!?   I love it! I hate it! Just give me a Coke! View Poll »

Nadya Suleman: Porn Debut "Liberating, Empowering"

Nadya Suleman will do anything to make ends meet, and tells Oprah Winfrey she has no regrets about some of the suspect ways she’s done so. The mom of 14 appeared on the March 19 episode of OWN’s Oprah: Where Are They Now? On it, she defended the infamous Octomom porn . Octomom OWN Interview “Years after I had [the octuplets], my manager and I collaborated together on doing an independent, um, self-pleasure video,” Nadya Suleman says. “I did it, obviously, to provide for my family. I don’t regret it. Shockingly, it became one of the most liberating and empowering things I had ever done.” We could think of other words to describe it, but whatever. After shooting her porn film, Suleman danced topless at strip clubs on several occasions … and went to rehab for anxiety, exhaustion and stress. “I became beyond, beyond exhausted! I can’t tell you how exhausted … I actually was starting to crack,” Suleman recalls of her rough patch last year. “And then it got worse, the panic. All these panic attacks! So I asked for help. I called it a ‘life rehab.’ I went to a treatment program for 30 days.” “There was a team of doctors and psychologists assessing me and diagnosing me, and I was diagnosed with, um, post-traumatic stress disorder.” The single California resident, who is being investigated for welfare fraud there, adds, “In other words, someone, um, who’s like a soldier in war.” “I feel like I’m still at war sometimes!” So do we, Octo. So do we.

Not Fair: First Transgender MMA Fighter Not Telling Women Opponents He Was Born Man First “It’s Totally Fair” [Video]

CNN : Born a man, Fallon Fox became a woman through surgery and then trained to fight in mixed martial arts. Now that she has won her first two MMA bouts — both in the first round — she has gone public as a transgender fighter, the first on record in a popular sport that some consider as the successor to boxing. “The reaction has been positive,” said Fox, 37, who revealed her story recently to Sports Illustrated after a journalist with another publication began to investigate her private surgery. “It’s just some people, some of society doesn’t get it yet. And this is what we’re trying to do now is to inform people and let them know about transgender athletes.” When asked if it’s fair for a man-turned-woman fighter to face another woman in the ring, Fox said there was “no unfair competitive advantages.” What was unfair, her last opponent and her manager say, is how Fox didn’t disclose until after the fight that Fox had a sex change operation. That opponent, Ericka Newsome, was knocked out this month with “a tie clinch,” or a knee to the chin, 39 seconds into the fight without anyone knowing of Fox’s background. It was “unfair I didn’t know it, but it didn’t matter that she fought me,” Newsome told CNN. “I feel that it should have been disclosed to me ahead of time…so we are aware and able to be better prepared for the situation.” She and her manager are going to appeal the loss in Florida on the grounds of how Fox failed to disclose being a transgender person and how the referee stopped the fight too early. “They should have let the fight go,” manager Matt Hamilton said. “She should have thrown at least one to two more shots to confirm it. On that particular basis, that’s one of the things we’ll appeal with, as well as not having it disclosed.” Meanwhile, the California State Athletic Commission is reviewing a claim by Fox that the state gave her a fighting license in 2013 when in fact the commission says her license application is still being reviewed, Sports Illustrated reported. Transgender fighter looking to get licensed Fox subsequently told Florida authorities that she had a California license, and now the Florida boxing commission is also reviewing Fox’s license application, the magazine reported. Also, Fox admitted she didn’t disclose to boxing authorities she is a transgender person but added she wasn’t asked to either, the magazine said. Sports Illustrated writer Loretta Hunt wrote of Fox’s 2006 gender reassignment surgery and winning her pro debut in May 2012. Hunt told CNN that guidelines for the Association of Boxing Commissions are similar to the International Olympic Committee’s policy that allows transsexuals to compete in Olympic games. The IOC requires transgender athletes to undergo hormone therapy long enough to remove gender-related advantages. In fact, Hunt said, mixed martial arts guidelines don’t require a sex-change surgery, but they do require two years of hormone therapy for transgender fighters. “Whether it comes after the surgery or it’s just on its own, that must be done and you must be tested throughout the two years,” Hunt said. “Those papers must be submitted to the athletic commission for review.” Newsome wants to fight Fox again, Hamilton said CNN

No Isht Sherlock! Studies Show States With The Most Gun Laws Have Far Fewer Shooting Deaths

Bang Bang! Lackin’ azz gun laws ? That’s that isht we DON’T like! Via NYDailyNews reports : States with the most gun control laws have the fewest gun-related deaths, according to a study that suggests sheer quantity of measures might make a difference. But the research leaves many questions unanswered and won’t settle the debate over how policymakers should respond to recent high-profile acts of gun violence. In the dozen or so states with the most gun control-related laws, far fewer people were shot to death or killed themselves with guns than in the states with the fewest laws, the study found. Overall, states with the most laws had a 42 percent lower gun death rate than states with the least number of laws. The results are based on an analysis of 2007-2010 gun-related homicides and suicides from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The researchers also used data on gun control measures in all 50 states compiled by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, a well-known gun control advocacy group. They compared states by dividing them into four equal-sized groups according to the number of gun laws. The results were published online Wednesday in the medical journal JAMA Internal Medicine. More than 30,000 people nationwide die from guns every year nationwide, and there’s evidence that gun-related violent crime rates have increased since 2008, a journal editorial noted. During the four-years studied, there were nearly 122,000 gun deaths, 60 percent of them suicides. “Our motivation was really to understand what are the interventions that can be done to reduce firearm mortality,” said Dr. Eric Fleegler, the study’s lead author and an emergency department pediatrician and researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital. He said his study suggests but doesn’t prove that gun laws — or something else — led to fewer gun deaths. Fleegler is also among hundreds of doctors who have signed a petition urging President Barack Obama and Congress to pass gun safety legislation, a campaign organized by the advocacy group Doctors for America. Gun rights advocates have argued that strict gun laws have failed to curb high murder rates in some cities, including Chicago and Washington, D.C. Fleegler said his study didn’t examine city-level laws, while gun control advocates have said local laws aren’t as effective when neighboring states have lax laws. Previous research on the effectiveness of gun laws has had mixed results, and it’s a “very challenging” area to study, said Dr. Daniel Webster, director of the Johns Hopkins Center For Gun Policy. He was not involved in the current study. The strongest kind of research would require comparisons between states that have dissimilar gun laws but otherwise are nearly identical, “but there isn’t a super nice twin for New Jersey,” for example, a state with strict gun laws, Webster noted. Fleegler said his study’s conclusions took into account factors also linked with gun violence, including poverty, education levels and race, which vary among the states. The average annual gun death rate ranged from almost 3 per 100,000 in Hawaii to 18 per 100,000 in Louisiana. Hawaii had 16 gun laws, and along with New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts was among states with the most laws and fewest deaths. States with the fewest laws and most deaths included Alaska, Kentucky, Louisiana and Oklahoma. But there were outliers: South Dakota, for example, had just two guns laws but few deaths. Editorial author Dr. Garen Wintemute, director the Violence Prevention Research Program at the University of California, Davis, said the study doesn’t answer which laws, if any, work. Wintemute said it’s likely that gun control measures are more readily enacted in states with few gun owners — a factor that might have more influence on gun deaths than the number of laws. Seems like it’s pretty clear what needs to be done. Now it’s just a matter of getting the politicians to get on their jobs! AP

Diane Lane Divorce: Papers Already Filed, Separation Took Place Months Ago

Diane Lane has already pulled the trigger in her divorce from Josh Brolin, filing the papers in L.A. Superior Court and citing irreconcilable differences. Lane signed her divorce documents on Valentine’s Day, citing February 13 as the date of their official separation, although sources say it was earlier than that. “They’ve been separated for several months. This was a hard decision for both of them to make,” says a source close to Diane Lane and Josh Brolin . “The relationship just ran its course .” The pair, who married in a 2004 ceremony at Brolin’s California ranch, were introduced by his stepmother, Barbra Streisand, at a party in 2002. Brolin, 45, was recently arrested and held for public intoxication just before midnight on New Year’s Eve 2013, but he was released without charge. He was also arrested for fighting in a bar in Louisiana in 2008, where drinking was involved. Charges were eventually dismissed in that case, too. Four months after they married in 2004, Brolin was arrested for spousal battery, but Diane Lane recanted her story and charges were never filed. In any case, the divorce documents cite “irreconcilable differences.” Lane also wants her name restored to Diane Lane (it’s legally Diane Lane Brolin).

Swirly Matrimony-dom Quote Of The Day: Donald Faison’s Wife Cacee Cobb Says “I’m Growing A Human While He’s Growing A Vajayjay!”

SMH @ this broad Cacee Cobb letting her gut full of homeboy give her reason to run her yap… Via US Weekly reports : Jessica Simpson’s BFF CaCee Cobb isn’t due to give birth for several months, but it sounds like she already has her hands full taking care of husband Donald Faison. On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the pregnant 31-year-old joked that the Scrubs actor, 38, wasn’t exactly living up to his role as man of the house while both were feeling under the weather. “I love how I’m sick and growing a human while Donald Faison is sick and growing a vag***,” the mom-to-be quipped on Twitter about her spouse of two months. (The couple wed at pal Zach Braff’s home in California on Dec. 15, 2012, a little over a year after they got engaged.) Cobb and Faison announced that they were expecting their first child together on Jan. 31, with a photo of a tiny T-shirt featuring a baby-sized Star Wars stormtrooper on Facebook. “Looks like Donald Faison and I are going to have a little stormtrooper of our own!” the soon-to-be first-time mom captioned the adorable snapshot. Faison — who has four kids from previous relationships, including three with ex-wife Lisa Askey — couldn’t be happier about his fifth little bundle of joy, even if (as Cobb’s tweet suggests) he’s being a bit of a baby himself at the moment. “I’m just excited for CaCee,” he told Us Weekly earlier this month. “She’s probably the most loving person I’ve ever met in my life.” He added: “And so for her to have a baby that she can love and you know, raise, and that we can raise together, and she can influence and teach and stuff like that, it just, I know that it’ll be a really good human being when it’s older.” Damn Donald… holler at us when you get your balls back. On a side note — as much as these two talk about their baby being a “human” we think they must read Bossip! Take good care of that gut full Cacee and stop neutering your man in public. Save that for behind closed doors. WENN

Not-So-Christian Mingle: One-Time Pops Perv For Forcing Sex On Fling Found On Dating Site

Be careful, your spiritual match might just be the devil in disguise. A California man used a Christian dating site to help find a woman to victimize in all the worst ways. Via NY Daily News reports : A California man was arrested this week after being accused of sexual assault a woman he met through an online Christian dating website. Sean Patrick Banks, an unemployed 37-year-old from Del Mar, allegedly used the website ChristianMingle.com to meet a woman in November police say he forced to have sex while visiting her home. Detectives have spent the past several months looking for the perpetrator, who allegedly called himself “Rylan Butterwood” and “Rylan Harbough” on the site, false names that gave police fits in trying to find the true culprit. Banks was charged with two counts of sexual assault and one of residential burglary. He has posted a $500,000 bail and pleaded not guilty. Banks could spend 36 years to life in prison if convicted. Police fear that Banks may have attacked other women. “After further follow-up in the investigation, the La Mesa Police Department is concerned there may have been more cases (involving) other women,” Lt. Matt Nicholass said. He believes additional victims could live outside of La Mesa. “This individual traveled around a lot,” Nicholass told KSWB-TV. “And we are concerned that there are people obviously outside of La Mesa or potentially outside of San Diego County that could be a victim.” Site officials say the company is doing it everything it can to help with the investigation. “We are in communication with the La Mesa police department and willing to assist them in any way we can with the investigation,” a ChristianMingle representative told KSWB, adding that the site takes “tremendous precautions” to protect daters. Banks’ next court hearing is scheduled for March 1. SMH. This is so scary. People please be careful about who you give your address to! Online dating is very dangerous. Our prayers are with that poor woman and we truly hope that the police are wrong and there aren’t any more victims.
