Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Files Appeal

By Kara Warner Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Pool/ Getty Images As expected, Michael Jackson ‘s former doctor Conrad Murray has filed an appeal to challenge his involuntary manslaughter conviction. According to TMZ , Murray filed the petition in pro per, which means he has decided to forego hiring legal representation and represent himself. He reportedly listed “Men’s Central Jail” and his booking number in the space on the appeal document where a lawyer would normally list a firm’s name or contact information. TMZ also reported that although Murray seems to be without a lawyer, he is still in communication with Nareg Gourjian, one of the attorneys who represented him during his manslaughter trial. “This case presents a gold mine of issues for any appellate lawyer,” Gourjian told TMZ. “Dr. Murray is confident that the Court of Appeal will vindicate him.” Following the guilty verdict, Murray’s lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff told CNN, “What matters most right now is trying to keep Dr. Murray from taking up a prison cell in this community. That’s what we’re focusing on right now, and we’ll deal with an appeal after that.” Murray faces up to four years in state prison on the charge, but because of recent changes in California sentencing laws aimed at reducing prison overcrowding, he is unlikely to spend any time in a state facility. I’m kind of liking these pictures of Miley Cyrus out somewhere in California, I can’t be bothered to find out where, she doesn’t look like as much of a stoner as she usually does. She’s all dressed up in a body hugging dress, I’m impressed, she looks like a woman. She also looks a little bustier than I remember her. I don’t really understand the clunky shoes, she looks like she just got off her waitressing shift at a deli, but those chubby breasts are working for me. Enjoy.

Conrad Murray Gets 4 Years In Jail

Dr. Conrad Murray — who faced up to four years behind bars at his sentencing today on his manslaughter conviction for administering a deadly anesthetic to Michael Jackson –  was sentenced to the maximum of 4 years in prison. But Murray will not spend a single day in prison because of a new California law. He’ll serve his time in L.A. County Jail where at the most will only serve half the sentence. Judge Pastor said, “There are those who feel Dr. Murray is a saint. There are those who feel he’s the devil. He is neither. He’s a human being.” Judge Pastor says it’s irrelevant to him that Michael might have met this fate with some other doctor. The fact is, Pastor said, Michael Jackson died because of the actions of … Dr. Murray.” Murray’s attorneys, who suggested at trial that the singer caused his own death by taking extra drugs when Murray was out of the room, asked that Murray receive probation. In his sentencing memo, the prosecution contended that Murray, 58, performed a “dangerous, unprecedented pharmaceutical experiment,” withheld from paramedics and emergency room doctors that he’d administered propofol, and hid some drugs and equipment after Jackson stopped breathing. Patrice O’Neal, Veteran Comedian, Dies of Stroke

Patrice O’Neal, who suffered a serious stroke in late October, has passed away from complications related to that incident. He was 41. Patrice O’Neal Stand-Up Act The death was first reported by O’Neal’s pals at the Opie and Anthony radio show, as Opie Tweeted this morning: “Yes it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I’ve ever known PERIOD.” O’Neal recently worked the Charlie Sheen Roast on Comedy Central and appeared on programs such as Chappelle’s Show , The Office and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn . our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Jenelle Evans Cops to Positive Drug Test at Hearing

Teen Mom 2 wreck Jenelle Evans appeared in a North Carolina courtroom this morning and admitted that she tested positive in a drug test in July. The 21-year-old, who has been in and out of trouble with the law, told a judge that she did indeed fail the drug test, as reported, back on July 15. She has been tested every week since then, however, and hasn’t had another positive test … which is actually a fairly impressive feat for Jenelle. “Jenelle is doing really well,” her lawyer Dustin Sullivan said after today’s hearing . “She completed her parenting class and her anger management class.” She does not have custody of her young son Jace back yet, but when she’s not beating the crap out of other girls , she spends time with the tyke daily. After a wildly successful stint in a California rehab center, Jenelle tested positive for THC (found in marijuana) and she will remain on probation until April. Her trials and tribulations can be seen on MTV starting next Tuesday when the show that made her a star returns. Watch the Teen Mom Season 2 trailer !

Congratulations are in order for lil Justin Dior Combs: Justin Combs, son of international music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, today announced that he has chosen to attend the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where he will be awarded a full scholarship to play football at the Division I school. The younger Combs, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound cornerback from Iona Prep, chose the Bruins over offers from Wyoming, Virginia, and Illinois, among others. After hitting the 7v7 camp circuit with the “GoonSquad” All-American 7v7 team this past spring, he quickly started to generate a buzz and secured his first Division I scholarship offer back in April. The latest Bruin commit has also been selected to play in the inaugural Marine Semper Fi All-American Game held in Phoenix, AZ January 3rd, part of college football’s Fiesta Bowl weekend. Combs, who carries a 3.75 GPA and is the Head of the African American Society at his school, will enroll in UCLA this fall and will major in Business Finance. Combs said he felt the combination of academic excellence and winning tradition at UCLA made his decision clear. JUSTIN COMBS STATEMENT: “Today I am truly blessed and thankful to accept my scholarship and give my full commitment to UCLA. Playing division I football was a life long dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it. I am a living testament that with a strong relationship with God, family, and hard work dreams do come true.” SEAN COMBS STATEMENT: “As a parent, today is one of the proudest moments of my life. This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about. Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream.” Wonderful! Kudos to Justin for working hard, maintaining good grades, and getting that full ride to UCLA (not like he needs it though)…Puff should certainly be proud.
